Title: 33 Roster Hack (v1.1)
Post by: Outsider on May 26, 2018, 03:27pm
KRISAN  THYME  &  THE  OUTSIDER  PRESENTS:  THE  33  ROSTER  HACK

(http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/44b3/7xujn7npn7pgx2xzg.jpg)

Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of the entire Marvel Mods community, I present to you "The Holy Grail" that was many years in the making. Normally, the game only allows for 27 playable heroes on the roster. But, through years of research, testing, and coding work, we have made it possible to have as many as 33 playable characters on the roster!

Um... what are you doing? Stop pinching yourself -- you're not dreaming. And yes, your eyes are seeing this correctly.

Though this hack was the work of Krisan Thyme and myself, it was the brainchild of many minds here in this forum. So, why settle for 27 when you can have 33? Download this awesome hack and see for yourself. And, feel free to give props, criticism, or feedback.

FEATURES:
-33 characters are now playable, extending the roster by 6.
-New character select stage with platform.
-Adds an extraction point to first level.
-Now has 23 simulator comic missions and 12 simulator team missions.
-Bobby Drake model at Sanctum Santorum, so he's not in ice form.
-All characters and extraction points unlocked.

GLITCHES:
-The last five characters on your herostat will have all of their outfits locked, including the one they are wearing. Fortunately, the "Unlock All Costumes" cheat code will fix that.
-The last five characters on your herostat can equip items, but the items will then become invisible and you can't unequip them. They still work thought and you can swap them for a different item. Also, whatever items you place on the last five will also be equipped on the first five.
-The last five characters suffer problems with experience points, as they kind-of share with the first five characters. If you use the "Level 99 Team" cheat code, the last five characters on your herostat will not gain points to max out their powers like everyone else.
(NOTE: If solutions for these glitches are found, it will be updated.)

HEROSELECT NOTE:
Bad news for those who prefer to use the Heroselect method -- The 33 Roster Hack will not work with Heroselect, as that program still uses the old menu locations and has the max at 27. Only the program's creator Norrin Radd can edit that program, and he's long been inactive. The XMLBCUI method is easy, and it gives you 33 playable characters instead of 27. Easy choice.

PROJECT CREDITS:
Krisan Thyme - Main game & HUB stage coding & script work, character unlock script
Outsider - Main game & sim mission coding & script work, extraction point script
MelloMods - New m_team_stage background
brandonmeek - Extraction Point to first level

RESEARCH CREDITS:
Nikita488 - Discovery of herostat & select screen codes, mlm_team_back file hex-editing
Krisan Thyme - 11-NPC & 39-Character limit discoveries, coding & script solutions to eliminate major NPC glitch
Outsider - 28 Roster Limit Hack modification & research, project testing and analysis
Teancum - Extensive research of game engine & PY scripts found at Knowledge Base
Tommyboy2002 - NPC>27 project research and game-breaking limit experimentation

NOTABLE MENTIONS:
Maegawa - Stage Select finding (through zoneinfo.engb)
Julio Cabral - Ideas from simulator mission research
(Also, thanks to all members who have contributed their thoughts and support throughout the process.)

UPDATE:
In v1.0, I inadvertently caused a loading screen error. So, I have updated it to v1.1 by including the boss loading screens and fixing an in-game error. Just download again, but only overwrite the "textures" folder -- it will fix the error.
Also, go to the "maps/sim" folder. You should see four files: cmblade.chrb, cmghostrider.chrb, cmdrstrange.chrb, and cmstorm.chrb. Move those to the "simchars" folder you see there and overwrite. They were mistakenly in the wrong folder and will prevent sim mission errors.

WHOOOOO HOOOOO. Now I can have my SpiderVerse Roster without replacing any of my favourite Marvel characters.
THIS IS A WELL-DESERVED ACHIEVEMENT :D :spidergirl: Again Congrats Outsider and those who contributed into this.
So hyped to test this out

It’s finally here. Congrats.

EDIT: BTW, will this fix Hawkeye’s issue on hiding the bird part of his Rocket arrow too? The last time I tried it was unhidable in OR, despite already adding the Multipart code inside his ps_file. If still not added yet, maybe in the future will.

Good to see so many are diggin' this. :fro: Yeah, we've all been waiting for this for a long time and thought it to be impossible. This is a well-deserved and glorious victory for the "think tank" and for the Marvel Mods community as a whole.

And now that we know "The Holy Grail" can be accomplished, there is no reason to believe that other game limits can't be altered, such as passive limits, costume limits, sim mission limits... Hell, I had this crazy idea about making a couple of the team sim missions as part of the main game -- as if not a simulation at all. Maybe there's a way for that to happen as well. Not even the sky's the limit.

Now when can I have more than 6 costumes?
...I'm just kidding. (I'm not kidding.)

In my opinion, that would be the next biggest breakthrough, what with so many costumes around here. Hell, I've lost count of how many skins Jean Grey has... Why limit to just 6? Hopefully, that mystery will not be as difficult to find and fix.

KRISAN  THYME  &  THE  OUTSIDER  PRESENTS:  THE  33  ROSTER  HACK
Great job, Guys! Thanks for all the effort and hard work. Wondering one thing, tho...

Is it possible to get a changelog of the hex-edits made in the .exe? Or a mention in the release notes?

I cannot overwrite any .exe files at this point. Too many edits already.

Out of curiosity, what happens for costumes above six? Do they just not show up at all?

Regarding of Jean Grey, she has 3 or 4 versions (Ally (& likely HQ too), 2 Bosses (Murder & Mephisto). Maybe decreasing into 1 boss version of Jean Grey will but...

You can add up to 6 via herostat, but more than that will not show up in the costume select menu screen.
I did write a script which functioned as a Power that could change the model (and therefore the costume (but not it's powers or passives)) and that could cope with as many different models as you threw at it.
What is odd is that the game would have any extra costume capacity at all (the ability to select the extra 2). There may be something in the exe that can be changed to increase the number choosable in the menu, but it will likely be harder to sort out passives etc.

Out of curiosity, what kind of edits? I've been slowly documenting things in the EXE, and I'm interested in anything anyone has on it.

"Searchable via Text-Strings"

herostat - to have custom herostat per exe
team_bonus - to have different team bonus' per exe
Activision\Marvel Ultimate Alliance\Save - 10 new save (and screenshots) spots per .exe
Charinfo - 4 different starter characters per .exe
m_team_stage.igb - Custom CharSelect Screen per .exe
UI/Models/Mannequin - custom "manniquin" directory to prevent mannequin clashing

I've explained more about this method here: http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,8284.msg149010.html#msg149010 (http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,8284.msg149010.html#msg149010)

I mainly just dumped all of mods into one game directory. I couldn't use heroselect before, so I just compiled a bunch of different herostats and started cloning/editing the game.exe file so I can access any mod quickly.

I'm also searching the exe for things that define the following:
m_logo_ultimate.igb/m_logo_alliance.igb - or a specific file that I can change in the exe that refers to them. Them being the logo on the start menu. If I'm able to do that, I can have custom intro logos per game.exe.
Movies - Intro movie specifically

I'm sure there is much, much more to discover...

I've sent MelloMods the hex-edits that were made to Game.exe via PM, so that his multiple exe's aren't ruined. I'll definitely read that post he put up, as any attempt to avoid mannequins clashing is genius.

So this means we’ll get to see the fix Hawkeye’s Bird part of his rocket multipart, & newly dlc/maps package directory too soon?

Honestly, I never noticed that Hawkeye issue. What's the problem, exactly? A bird shows up during his "Ricochet Rocket" xtreme? That's the only move I see with the word "Rocket" in it. As for new maps, that may be difficult. I thought about altering some simulator stages to be part of the main game, thus extending the game even longer, but that may take awhile. I don't have the RE version, so I can't alter anything from there into this one.

Regarding of Jean Grey, she has 3 or 4 versions (Ally (& likely HQ too), 2 Bosses (Murder & Mephisto). Maybe decreasing into 1 boss version of Jean Grey will but...

That was part of Teancum's idea to condense the number of NPCs listed. But to do that, you'd also have to alter the chrb and engb files, and scripts of every stage Jean Grey is in. And, as Tommyboy2002's research found out, lowering NPCs doesn't really change anything, as the game doesn't really care about NPCstat.

And actually, I was referring to the number of custom costumes that everyone here at the forum has made for Jean Grey. She has hundreds! Spider-Man has the second most, and third most may be Iron Man.

Guys this is awesome! I did not expect this feat to be possible in such a short time. I truly have no words to praise or thank you for your works. I arrived in this forum in 2012, shortly after this forum have experienced an age of gold modding, because of the great discoveries and launches, but now I am part of an age of diamond. This feat is too wonderful! My gameplays will have innovative content. Sincerely speaking I believe our forum has a modding content that may surprise many.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU!

I can not fail to mention that I am a fan of the heroselect application, and my joy would be complete if this successful project reached it. I do not know Norrin Rad, but I believe he could be told of this great achievement, maybe he will cheer up and update heroselect.

I have not yet installed the mod. I'm playing to the end with the purpose of solving a serious crash problem in my game, but soon after solving this I'll try out this great mod.

I see that great changes are yet to come.
Thanks for everything guys!

If you use Hawk’s ents & ps files I made from my REUO Patch onto OR & use Xtreme moves where all rocket arrow multiparts shows up, you’ll see what happen. His multipart hiding issue on the bird multipart for his Xtreme never happened in RE, GE & PSP/Wii, except in OR.

For DLC maps package’s directory, that’s for fixing few issues some DLC special dialogues had, such as special dialogues between Cyclops w/ Jean (Tent enter & Arcade finish) on Murder2. If you transfer the DLC’s special dialogue conversation file directory codes from dlc/maps package file to original generated/maps package file one, some (mostly from Murder2) scene will stuck, not played or/& crash in the middle of gameplay, as far as I discovered during RE modding research. Should I send you the official Steam crack to you via PM? Krisan & Maegawa has one too.

I'm not sure if that would work but I found that ui\menus\main_beenox.engb contains the reference of the Start Menu(i109 video background, logo stuff).
I'd try this :
-hexedit the exe, look for main_beenox, rename to something u want
-search for ui\menus\main_beenox.engb, rename to something else
-hexedit the renamed file, replace occurence of i109 (video background reference) with a file containing the desired video & replace occurence of logo stuff

I am playing in order to test all the benefits of this breakthrough.
For now I have only a small feedback to pass.
I played until the shiar stage and and I noticed that throughout the course of the game the loading screens do not changed,  presenting this messy canvas in place..

I dunno what caused this though :(

Hmm... that's a loading screen issue. I know what happened -- I had added zoneinfo.engb with the purpose of adding all extraction points unlocked (including some unofficial ones like Flight Deck.) However, in my personal game, I renamed the boss loading screens so they do not conflict with those of any characters I create. That's why you are seeing that glitch.

In any case, give me a bit -- I can fix that issue.

EDIT: Ok, download it again. But, you don't have to install everything again. Just install the "textures" folder -- it contains the boss loading screens. My apologies for that error, everyone.

No problem. Also, Krisan and I discovered a slight hiccup: Everyone, go to the "maps" folder, then the "sim" folder.
You should see "cmblade, cmghostrider, cmdrstrange, and cmstorm.chrb" files. Move those to the "simchars" folder you see there and overwrite.
This will fix any simulator mission errors that were discovered by UltraMegaMagnus.

There were issues already mentioned with the last five characters that it suffers, though my testing showed them gaining experience points fine. As for these other issues, tell me in a PM and in detail. And, mention if you installed the Gold Edition Content Mod that's in testing, as there have been problems reported if the 33 Roster Hack is installed, and then the GEC.

I wonder why on my side I can't get it to work. And if I start a new game after dropping out of the game the last 5 characters get all their powers fully equipped so I don't know if I install some other mod that is causing conflict? Is their anyway anyone knows what I should be looking for or something?

It's not just you -- it's working but to some extent. See, remember those issues that were mentioned with the last 5 heroes? What's happening is that you may be seeing that the last five characters are leveling up faster then the rest of the roster -- that's because their XP is somehow sharing with the first five characters. So, while they are leveling up, they are only gaining but so many points because the first five has them. It's an issue that Krisan Thyme and I have been looking into, but haven't found where the code is yet. I believe all of those problems are connected to one code in Game.exe that needs to be altered, and it's the one thing keeping it from being perfect. But finding it is the proverbial needle in a haystack. We agreed to release it though since everyone was so excited to have 33 characters playable.

However, the save game thing hasn't been an issue so far. I just played with Captain America through the whole Helicarrier stage, and was able to save just fine. I tried saving again in a different game after extracting to Stark Tower from the first stage, and it was fine. Not sure what's causing that on your end.

Can this have the potential to work on something like the psp version? The reason i'm asking is because i modified the 33 roster by turning the strings.engb into a xml, copy and pasted parts of the psp strings.engb that are related to the psp version( pretty much string id numbers 3701 thru 5602 I think). I had to fix some stuff in the xml, but my latest attempt did run the iso without string errors showing in the game. if you want, i could upload the new strings.engb i made, but i just need some confirmation first.

I traded my PSP a long time ago, so I'm not familiar with it and I can't give you a honest definitive answer. The PSP likely has a different limit than the PC. To find out that limit you'd first have to alter the exe, and to do that, take a look at the "herostat limit" thread (http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,10135.0.html).  Do so at your own risk -- I am not responsible if something goes wrong.

Was this happening to you before the 33R? Because if so, the problem shouldn't be mentioned here. And, I've just done some testing on the Bifrost Bridge mission, and I was able to go to Midgard Gate, and beat that whole stage with no problems. That said, send me a PM on exactly what the problem is, and more importantly, when it started happening.

I've just noticed one thing, I'm playing with GEC, but probably related to the 33 Roster Hack, I think that the first 5 and last 5 character also share their death(+death timer before being revived), I detailled this on Discord.

To reproduce this, kill off one of the first 5 and one of the last 5 of your herostat will most likely be dead too.

This is not a big issue though.

I was honestly unaware of that, but it will happen to both the GEC and 33R, since the GEC includes the 33R. Some may say that is a big issue...
So Krisan and I were talking on Discord about what could be causing the first 5 -> last 5 problems. He believes that it is a memory issue, as it's an old game, and it only reserved so much memory. Remember, the game was only meant to use 27 heroes. So, while we are getting 33 heroes, the information it's gathering (XP Points, Outfits, and now apparently deaths) is only counting for 27, so some of the last five's data are cycling back to the first five.

At first, we just thought it was an "invisible item/no outfits" glitch, but it's turning out to be far larger than that. I spoke with Krisan about how to go about fixing this for both the 33R and GEC. He believes that he can, but it won't be a quick fix and will take time. I told him that I'll see what I can do on my end to help him out.

I wish this were an easy fix, everyone, but it's not. Honestly, I didn't want to release it until everything was done. But, as we all know, unforeseen problems can be discovered at any time. Some are easy fixes -- some problems are just a matter of not including certain files with it, or misplacing files in a wrong location. However, memory-connected problems like this one is a difficult process to fix. So to those who have been experiencing these problems and feel frustrated, I offer my sincere apologies. As good as we may be sometimes, we are not the game's developers and some things will be overlooked. But, I will do whatever I can to help fix this whole damn thing for good.

Hello Outsider! I'm playing a lot and using several characters to feel the new experience that 33 Roster Hack brings us. I am now facing a random problem in the characters. Although I play with only 3 characters, there are some, which are not the last 5, occupants of places 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, are having problems of animation and effect in powers and sometimes with problems in motion animations, like for example, some have no double jump.

I'll keep playing and if I notice anything else I'll report.
This modification is the maximum!

I haven't heard any animation issues other than what Edward mentioned before about Sindel -- which is strange because my game didn't have that problem. No issues on effects seen either. I'll look into it more when I get a chance.

That is very odd cause I also had many weird glitches and crashes(one example some npc were the wrong skin or skelton in starks tower) i tried installing the cosmetics only following the instructions, but I still got the new menu locations. So I just reinstall again lol and now I'm not having any problems at all with a roster of mods mostly mk(outsider is the man!!!  :D :bowdown: :bowdown: :bowdown:)and a few dc.

Hey guys! More feedback for us. Now I have good feedback.

I tested several changes in the menulocation, and noticed that sometimes some character was bugged in powers, and in animation. But I noticed that this can be controlled when the characters are the first 4 and the last 4 in the increasing order of the herostat. With a cheat to open all powers the problem can be solved. The strong punch loaded made the character to be paralyzed, with the cheat code everything returns to normal. Not to mention that powers also appear.

The other bugs, I managed solve by selecting 3 characters instead of 4.

In a few cases I have not been able to solve the loading of some powers and to fix animation issues that paralyze, so it concludes that it must be those bugs that occur because of some conflict between characters.

I want to inform you that although heroselect is unable to generate a herostat of 33 places, it can still generate the 27th. I use it to generate a herostat of 27 places, then I add through xml decompile the other places, also doing the corrections of places 26 and 96. I insist on heroselect because of its practicality and agility.

All right then! Now I can launch a tutorial video teaching how to install and handle this fantastic modification.

Once again, thank you to all who cooperated to create this great package!

Some of issues you have may be related to the 117 entries game limit of fightmove discovered by Maegawa :
http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,57.msg189511.html#msg189511

Seems to be the issue to me, when I see that you can solve some issues by removing a character from your team (thus reducing the overall fightmove entries).

Also make sure that Gold Content Edition & 33 rosters hack are not installed together.

I too read a recommendation not to also install the OC 1.3 along with the Gold Content Edition, but I plan to use only the heroselect it. When I finish my experience with 33 Hoster Hack, I will bring you feedback from the Gold Content Edition.

In my opinion, that would be the next biggest breakthrough, what with so many costumes around here. Hell, I've lost count of how many skins Jean Grey has... Why limit to just 6? Hopefully, that mystery will not be as difficult to find and fix.

here's one method of getting around the 6 Skin limit

OK, I have to ask if you started a new game, because you'd be surprised how many don't before they ask for help.

If you did, then -- where does it crash? Provide some details on what happens and what your herostat looks like.

this happens when I click on the shortcut of game. I can not enter the menu. this happens before. the game logo appears and it crashes. I added a character Psylocke.

It was written when the game crashed: https://mega.nz/#!jc0AjagR!CeQmgNQaZa7QUbJZHBmQPY0zuMdWUA1pvSIIK1XD0po

This without character 33: https://mega.nz/#!eE00TABD!BPVCNk9f1-M78IcjSzO4eGFwvDrQHRDwxFgYToV5pLE

OK, I saw both files -- the problem is that you didn't follow the instructions in the "Herostat Set-Up" file. In both files, you placed this entry first...

Code: [Select]
   stats {
   autospend = support_heavy ;
   body = 1 ;
   characteranims = 00_testguy ;
   charactername = defaultman ;
   level = 1 ;
   menulocation = 0 ;
   mind = 1 ;
   name = default ;
   skin = 0002 ;
   strength = 1 ;
   team = enemy ;
      talent {
      level = 1 ;
      name = fightstyle_default ;
      }

   }

That is incorrect -- there is no "defaultman." By placing that, he took one of the 33 spots even though "menulocation = 0" doesn't exist. So, when you added Psylocke, there was now 34 spots, so the game crashed. Get rid of that entry, and you'll be fine. As the file says, just place your 33 characters, then the "team_character" entry at the end, and it'll work.

This issue was also present in an earlier version of MUA Gold Pack by Krisan Thyme and discovered by OC packs users long time ago, memory limit, something like that.
Quoting the fix of Krisan Thyme :
1.0.5   - Temporarily removed the DLC conversation for Jean in Murderworld post-arcade game until a softlock solution is found.
      The DLC conversation prior to the Arcade game is still present.
   - Packaging errors resolved.
      - Fixed an issue with the final level.

If you're using MUA Gold Pack, be sure to update to latest version to have the fix, if not that maybe means that 33 Roster Hack does not have the fix yet (but 33 Roster Hack does not seem to include change in this level) or something else in your setup.

Sorry, I'm not sure I can help you in this case. I just checked that same Big Top stage (I use the 33R), and Jean's conversation before AND after the Pitfall game worked just fine. In fact, I can confirm that Murderworld wasn't altered with the 33R. Try checking your options menu or something along those lines.

Isn't this Murderworld issue solved already? Back in the day happened to me too with an earlier version of OC mod but years after that I reinstalled the game, the mods and everything worked fine. Prehaps I made a mistake back then and tried the mods without starting a new game or something. All I know is that it was a script problem.

Hey guys! So i made a pre-made herostat for those who want to install the 33 roster hack that's compatible with the OC pack but don't want to go through the hassle of setting up the herostat manually like in the readme. just rename the file to just "herostat" after installing the 33 Roster hack and you're golden

it replicates the gold edition roster so everyone knows where everyone is right away without confusion. useful for people who don't want to keep setting things up manually each and every time they restart their installation which gets annoying fast

It is essential because it makes sure that all simulator missions are within the 39-character limit, so you don't see clones of your first hero (on the herostat) walking around. However, it can be modified to suit your preferences. I would open both simulator.engb files and compare them. The key (if I recall - its been awhile) is to make sure that all simulator characters do not go over 6.

Ohhh... so THAT'S why I've always had clones!! I had gotten around it by just putting Iron Man first in herostat, and in my head my heroes are training against empty Iron Man suits in the simulator missions lol.

Thanks for the reply. This mod is indispensable for my dream roster!

Here's a different question. Using the 33 limit roster, when I get up to the conversation with Weasel in Act 2, Sanctum Sanctorum about where to hide, I go talk to Hank Pym and Professor X, but when I return to Weasel to tell him "The X-Mansion" the dialogue option doesn't trigger. The option to tell him where to hide won't appear.

So it's impossible to complete the "Nowhere to Hide" Objective and it would be impossible to get the perfect ending.

I have all the default conversation files for Act 2 installed. Could this have to do with a sort of conversation memory limit?

Hmm... hearing your report, I started a new game, extracted to the Sanctum Santorum, and spoke to Weasel. He only mentioned getting a security module from the Vision. I guess your convo with him happens after you've visited Murderworld, because mine was when you visit the Santorum for the first time.

Do you have only 33R? Or the GEC? Because Krisan Thyme did some work on the latter that I am not aware of.

I don't know if it's a conversation overload, but a couple of times I noticed that a dialogue choice from Deadpool in Valhalla was not there at times... maybe that is something to look into. In the meantime, you said that Weasel does initially ask where to hide. Since there is a problem there, just answer X-Mansion right then without asking Hank Pym and Professor X. It should allow you to complete the objective. Let me know if that too is a problem.

Hmm... hearing your report, I started a new game, extracted to the Sanctum Santorum, and spoke to Weasel. He only mentioned getting a security module from the Vision. I guess your convo with him happens after you've visited Murderworld, because mine was when you visit the Santorum for the first time.

I have only the 33 Roster Hack installed, although now that you mention it, maybe I should try experimenting with some of Krisan's files.

The X-Mansion conversation happens after the Security module conversation. So basically in the vanilla game, 1) Security Module Convo, go to Murderworld, 2) only after beating Murderworld, tell Weasel where to hide (Nowhere to Hide Mission).

Also, I've reloaded and made various attempts with older saves a number of times, sometimes leaving to speak to Pym/Xavier, sometimes not like you suggested. No matter what, the option to tell him where to hide never appears.

I'm also thinking it's a memory issue bc when trying to initiate the Nowhere To Hide conversation with Weasal, sometimes the SHIELD extraction stops functioning, until you exit the area and reload the area.

Perhaps it could be a memory issue. Krisan Thyme said that the reason for the last 5 characters suffering problems is because of the game's memory. This "conversation overload" (for lack of a better term) may also be caused by this -- in which case, the 33R and GEC would suffer the same result.

Krisan said back in July last year that he was going to increase the game's memory, thus solving these problems, even though it will take months of work. Unfortunately, he has been silent (here and Discord) since then, and it is unknown of his progress or if he's even working on it at all. I've asked Nikita to look into it as well. Hopefully someone will come up with a solution soon enough.

EDIT: Hearing news like this depresses me a little, as Krisan and I worked so hard on developing the roster increase. I'm starting to think this whole 33R thing came out too premature, and we should have stuck with my 28 Roster Limit Hack until all of these issues were looked at.

Sorry about that, Outsider. At first I thought you might know of a quick, easy fix, like eliminating one of the conversations in Sanctorum, or I thought maybe having Bobby and Clea move around might've had something to do with the issue. At the very least, I figure it's better you know!

But nevertheless, I can only speak for myself, but your mods- and the 33 Roster Hack in particular- have reinvigorated this game for me. I've derived so much enjoyment from it, I'm personally very grateful for all you've done to continually expand this title.

Besides, I've got the Remastered edition if I want a clean game... the modded version is where it's fun to get crazy!

http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,6868.0.html (Look at Part 4.) Everything you need to know is located at the Knowledge Base. I am certain that there is more than one tutorial on XMLBCUI, but that one seems simple enough.

thank you i figured it out after workin on it a whole day, editing menulocation was my main problem thats why they werent showing up, bc i still use heroselect for the initial 26 characters, and than use xmlbcui for the other 6. the other problem was decompiling, i think u have to decompile engb first before it can work. also xmlbcui doesnt specify that the output file HAS to be the engb file, i dont think u even have to use the xmlb file at all. but im sure it explains all that in the link that u gave me, i already skimmed through it, wish i had it earlier lol, thanks though if i encounter any other problems ill refer to that!!

There will likely be problems with that. In some stages, you'll end up seeing clones of the first character in your herostat, as 34 heroes is going over the new limit. Also, there is currently problems with the last five heroes on your team -- it will likely become the last six heroes now. I would research the after-effects of your change.

I also have to look into a situation: One person has reported that when he saves his game, he can't load that game without problems. Problems like this is why I believe the 33R (and GEC) came out too prematurely, and that the game's memory should have been fixed up first.
