NOTE: It is highly recommended that you install the newest version of the Official Characters Mod before installing this pack


SPECIAL NOTE: Please note that these mods are only compatible with the original 2006 port of MUA. They will not work on the "remastered" 2016 Steam version. Unsure which version you got? Check the game folder -- if you see .bin files and the exe file date is 2016, then you've got the "remastered" version that is useless here. Search ebay or Amazon to find and purchase the 2006 original port.

Contains all of the characters who officially appeared in X-Men Legends 2 (PC version) who could not be found on any system of Marvel Ultimate Alliance. This contains what should be the final versions of those characters, barring any glitch discoveries by users.

Installation Instructions:

To install the mod correctly:

1. Extract the RAR to your main Marvel Ultimate Alliance Directory.
2. Copy the contents of "README" into "herostat" in the heroselect sub-folder (If this is at all unclear to you it is suggested read the HeroSelect_Readme.pdf file in that sub-folder)
3. Swap in whatever characters the desire using HeroSelect (Again, for more detailed instructions read HeroSelect_Readme.pdf)
4. Enjoy

(Slot 206XX)
Powers:
Bio Beam: Channels energy through his hands to blast foes with a beam of focused power.
Plasma Blaster: Uses guns to fire projectiles that stun enemies.
Bio Blast: Radial energy attack.
Sapping Strike: Melee attack that reduces damage victims do by 50% for a time.
Bombardment: Fires several high-powered rounds into the air.  They then crash down, smashing into enemies and surrounding objects.
Absorption: Absorbs a percentage of Energy Dmg as Health gain and boosts Physical Resistance.
Energy Fury: Gives bonus Energy Dmg to melee attacks for self and allies for a time.
Superconductor: Sucks in surrounding energy releasing it in a violent explosion of power nullifying enemy powers.

Card Shuffle: Multiple card projectile attack.
Staff Slam: Radial energy attack.
Detonation: Charges an enemy with explosive energy that will blow up after a time.
Staff Assault: Multiple staff melee attacks in quick succession.
Energy Fury: Gives nearby allies and self Energy Dmg on all melee attacks.
Energy Form: Turns parts of Gambit's body into energy, improving defense and movement speed.
52 Pickup: Throws cards into the air which rain down Energy Dmg.

Powers:
Telekinesis: Gives Jean the ability to lift and throw objects and enemies.
Psychic Spike: Fires a mental homing projectile.
Psionic Boom: A radial mental attack inflicting pain on enemies and reducing their damage for a time.
Dark Phoenix: Inflicts a mental blast in a radius, and causes a Physical Dmg explosion around fallen enemies.
Memory Wipe: A radial blast of mental energy that confuses enemies and makes them flee.
Psychic Fury: Gives Jean and allies mental damage bonus on all Melee attacks for a time.
Calming Presence: Increase Energy regeneration rate of entire party for a time.
Phoenix Force: Xtreme radial attack dealing mental damage with a chance to convert enemies.

Thunder Punch: Increased melee attack with stun.
Arcane Fist: A crystal-powered ground slam that sends out a radial blast of damage.
Brutal Blitz: Spins around and hits surrounding enemies.
Bullrush: Charge against enemies, and objects, knocking them back.
Crimson Rage: Multiple punch attack, building up Dmg with each hit.
Cyttorak Shield: All party members gain an energy shield, reflecting some melee Dmg back at attackers.
Cyttorak Transfer: All party members convert inflicted Energy Dmg into Health Points for Juggernaut. Other party members also recieve Defense and Strike bonus.
Crimson Devastation: Juggernaut rips open a portal to the Crimson Cosmos, flooding enemies with Energy Dmg and stunning them.

Psychic Storm: A psychic lightning attack shocks the systems of foes, dealing Mental Dmg to the primary target and chaining to deal Electricity Dmg to nearby enemies.
Reveal Intent: Increases defense by mentally probing enemies' attack plans.
Telepathic Link: Links to the minds of all teammates, increasing Attack Rating and Dmg.
Psychic Shock: Resurrects nearby fallen allies and enemies. Resurrected enemies become allies for a time, then expire.

Raging Flame: Sets enemies ablaze, causing them to run in confusion, igniting additional foes as they go.

Bedazzle: Baits nearby enemies into attacking you while lowering their fighting abilities for a time.

Hex Bolts: Fires a spread of Hex-Bolts.
Combustion: Uses probability to spontaneously combust surrounding enemies and objects.

Reality Shift: Launches a Hex-Bolt that has a chance of phasing an enemy to an alternate dimension.
Misfortune: Causes enemy attacks to backfire, reflecting a percentage of damage back on themselves.
Probability Syphon: Adjusting probabilities causes increased Dmg and chance of critical hits.
Heal: Gives party regenerative healing for a time.
Anarchy Assault: Unleash Magic bursts with a random Dmg type, with a chance of converting enemies for a time.

Leap Attack: Leap at targets, doing radial damage on impact.
Taunt: Insults nearby enemies, lowering their defenses and causing them to attack.
Secretion: Secrete Pheromones that enhance party speed and increase Strike.

Uploaded a small fix. I wouldn't call it a fix, really, more of a change. I have changed Rogue's menu animations to be her XML1 ones rather than her XML2 ones. This applies to both her individual download and the package mod. Reason being that her XML1 menu animations are very character specific to her and would go unused if they aren't applied to her, and her XML2 menu animations are much less character/gender specific and can be (will be) used on other characters (namely Cannonball). Only her talent file, animation files, and herostat entry have been changed. You will need to start a new game (she now uses Ms Marvel's animations as a fightstyle rather than as her _4_combat)

I have a problem here! I put in Gambit and Bishop (not from the full pack) and when I want to put theme to the characters, who I play with, there comes an error. What should I do? (I have the newest official characters mod on my game)

I've got an error with Rogue, when she starts to fly she assumes a weird pose until I punch - then she looks like the proper fly animation. Also, when I use a power mid-flight her model assumes another weird 'frozen' animation.

Any thoughts? If you wants pics I can supply

Did you start a new game? She uses a fightstyle now. (I'll be updating her with a small tweak tonight, so if you haven't yet you may want to wait :P)

When I first noticed it of course I tested out a new game lol

No soap btw, she still froze mid-flight unless I used her main attack - and then froze again whenever I used one of her powers

Ok, I've uploaded new versions. This time it really IS the final version, there are no more updates to be made. This includes a new fightstyle for Rogue, a small Bishop powerstyle update, and new mannequins for Jean Grey and Sunfire.

Just got Rogue to fly as she's supposed to! Really just need to start a new game using the defaut stats and it all got alright!

I still wish to check on the updates if it's possible!

The reason I asked about the individual packs is because i don't know what i'm doing that the official pack just crashes my game! i found out some reasons but they happen very random!

I just don't play with all those characters in the pack and can't even make that heroselect thingy work, so I go for the basic way: editing the herostat in a notepad and then recompiling it...

I've downloaded and played Bishop and Gambit and they work great.  However, when I tried to download and use Jean Grey Rogue and Juggernaut, I can't see the icons for their powers that normally appear at the bottom of the screen.

Scrath that, fixed the problem

Hey guys. I have an idea to make Gambit Staff appear on Hero Details. COpy paste Moon Knight herostat BoltOn then rename moonknight_staff into gambit_staff.

But if I remember correctly Gambit uses his XML1 menu animations, so that would look strange.

Hi there... Am I the only one, who has a problem with "no-staff" Gambit attack animations ? They are just not shown. Final hits with staff are ok

Hi guys I have downloaded the xml2 mod pack and tried to add characters. I copied files from the winrar archive to the folders in my MUA directory and then copied texts in README file to my herostat.xml and then convert it to .xmlb ( just like the instruction from Adding a character in MUA section) but after that nothing happened. can you guys help me solve this problem? Is this because there is no herostat.egnb file in my downloaded dwinrar folder (as I didn't see it)

Just rename it from "herostat.xmlb" to "herostat.engb"

It works alright!

it automatically chooses .xmlb, what you have to do is either rename like xlehnsherr said, or before you hit accept in the compile function hit browse in the output xmlb section and look for the herostat.engb, click on it, and now when you hit accept it will overwrite that one and compile as the .engb file

I did, i presume, everything according to the pdf to get Jean Grey into my game, though it fails, or i fail at it.

Copy/pasted from the readme in the phoenix-zip, i added the phoenix name, according to the pdf from heroselect.

I copied the menu files, I changed the directory in the herostat.cfg and i put the "nba2kstuff’s xmlb-compile v2.2 (non-ui) which can be found at http://www.nba2kstuff.org/mua/" as stated in 1.4 pdf in my windows folder.

I also added in heroselect the hero (name= Jean Grey or Phoenix, statfilename= phoenix), though i removed collussus and moonknight, since i am both not using neither downloading them.
then i made my own team, selecting hero's and putting them on places, including phoenix/jean grey

Of course i copied the contents of the phoenix zip to my marvel dir.


So basicly, i only want to add or exchange (i.e. cap usa) for Jean Grey.
When i start a new game and rush to the shieldthing i do get 2 extra places, both occupied by defaultman. Maybe i can solve some of the problem by replacing his data with jeans, though it's not the way it should be.

Did i miss something here? I'm using an unpatched version if that makes a difference.

Some things to check:
-Is the first line in the herostat.cfg pointing to where your herostat file is
-After you select your new team using Heroselect, does the file /data/herostat.engb change its 'date modified' (can check this by looking at the file's properties). If it doesn't change, and you are using Windows Vista you may have to move your herostat there and do the compiling/decompiling on the desktop (other people have had this issue with vista)

You need to change the XXXX to an open menulocation number that has not already been chosen, from 1-26, or 96

Okay I got her showing up on the screen and i was able to play with her. Only i'm missing the outfits, powers etc in the hero modify panel (at pause menu), also the 'light attack' animations appear to miss. Cross-referencing with the full package i seem to miss some files in data, which i'm gonna fix by just copying the whole xman2 pack, except i don't change the herostat.

Fixed the panels, now only the fighting animations are not shown (except the last part of a fully loaded heavy attack). I noticed in the data there are two fightstyle-entries. One is fightstyle_hero, the other one fightstyle_default. I'm going to try to remove the hero one and see if it fixed the animations.


And while we are at it, how did you change the starting line up, would save me some time for error/trial if i can make my favorite team to start the game with, instead of rushing to nick fury.

Anyhow (i edited my previous post again), the only thing not working atm is the fighting moves, which i'm now working on to fix.

Decompile charinfo.engb in the /data folder. You will notice there are some start game lines. Move those to the characters you want to start the game.

Allright, it's fixed.

I found another phoenix mod, and i used actors-files from it (except for skins that is), now she's working as it should (and let's hope everything else does ;).

I had to reinstall MUA because i made a mistake in the files and couldnt find the backups. The problem i described is away now, but he can't guard or dodge, and he doesn't have the double-jump move from XML2. Is this normal for Toad? I started a new game BTW, and i have no problems with the other characters in this mod.

Ok, wierd problem for me, I've put Rogue in my game, I can use her powers just fine and she flys, grabs enemies and everything, but she doesn't punch. I hit the normal attack buttons and she just stands there for a minute and it acts like she hits something, but she doesn't actually move. I did start a new game (default) and she's the only one that doesn't work. So just wondering what I could be doing wrong here...it's my girl and she aint acten' right...I'm haven' major issues here. lol.

Never-you-mind...I got this.  :rogue: I just can't have her and Ms. Marvel in the game at the same time.

Sorry for asking here, but are those the only powers converted from the XML2 game? I just noticed that Jean doesn't have her mental guardian listed there. How can I add it(if possible, please make it a little bit detailed)? I'm still new and only managed to add new characters to XML2 and plan to try out MUA this weekend. I can't get custom characters to work right. I followed the instructions, and downloaded Official Characters mod, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

If I use Heroselect for Default team, everything works great. I have all the original character plus Moonknight, Hawkeye, Colossus, Hulk (maybe a few others?). All their skins and skills work fine, too.

When I try to make my own team with the XML2 characters, or select random team, is when the problems start. Random team, upon character selection in game, gives me all invisible characters with fantastic 4 as the team that automatically pops up, even though they're invisible. I can only see human torch and ghostrider's flames.

I tried to make a team of only X-men, so I attempted to import rogue, cyclops, jean, and gambit in to use in addition to storm, wolverine, iceman, and colossus who are already there. When I enter the game after following the instructions, it gives me the default roster mentioned previously. If I only select to include Rogue, for example, All the characters are invisible, but I can select Rogue. She appears and I can change her skins and everything. I enter the game and I have FOUR Rogues at once!

I would include a pic and my herostat.cfg, but the uploader isn't working (full?)

I've recently added the Rogue character to my game and have discovered a rather interesting thing about her talent file... it seems that she has panth_outfit in place of what should be rog_outfit in the outfit talent sections. This means that none of her outfits have the abilities you select for them o_O;

Is this a mistake or was Rogue set up that way?

Rouge = make-up and the French word for red.
Rogue = the Marvel character among other things

I believe you mean the latter.

Anyway, you're right. She doesn't steal the powers and it's not possible to make her steal powers, sadly.

But, can't you base it on the Demonic Soul in Mephisto's Realm? I'm not sure if you can make it so she doesn't trun into that character, but still...

Nope -- MUA2 360 does, but it's true that we can't crack sounds for MUA1 or MUA2 on the 360, and on top of that you need a JTAG'd 360 to make it possible to run any sort of mods for any game (not that any exist).  A non-banned console will not work.

I tried downloading the gambit mod but its not working. I copied and pasted the READ_ME files and then I added gambit to hero select. When I played the game, gambit did appear in it but he couldn't use any powers. He didn't even have his picture in the bottom left corner. Right before I downloaded gambit I downloaded the Official Characters 1.2 mod. Could that have something to do with this problem?

No, the OC 1.2 wouldn't cause that problem.  It sounds like you possibly misplaced some of the package (.pkgb) files.  Try to download it again and pay close attention that you put all the files in the right places.  Also check that you didn't make any typos in the herostat.

I'm talking about the files that were in the package folder of the mod you downloaded.  These files need to be placed in the corresponding folder in your game files.  The problems you described often occur when they are not properly placed.

A potentially dumb question here: can I modify the skins of these myself? I seem to be unable to get anything clear out of them in any DXT format using TextureFinder.

Hello, I got a few questions

I got the original char pack 1.2 installed without any probs, worked right away, even in my saved game.

then i got this 1 and i musta done something wrong because i can't seem to get the chars in the select screen, the 27 I loaded last time are in there all the time (also with new game) and when i start a new game i get 2 black panthers without skills wolverine and spidey

maybe if i keep going i get god and 1 skill (win?)

help please

I don't think it comes with a herostat file. Download EZ-stat 4000 (somewhere in the release section). It's for Heroselect, a program for selecting heroes which comes with the OCP.

No you can actually use this pack, and use the EZ-stat 4000 (available in the release section SOMEWHERE (Search for it just incase) to choose the heroes you want with heroselect. The EZ-stat 4000 contains a lot of herostat entries, including those of the XML2 Characters pack.

Same for me. The orig char pack works just fine, they all show up.

The xml characters show up in Herostat and I place them, but then when I get to the first SAP, none of them are there. What am I doing wrong?

Mine is doing something really weird. When I click on Gambit in the heroselect, I get Gambit and  Rogue. When I click on Rogue I get Gambit and Rogue. Gambit doesn't have a mannequin and judging by how complete the rest of it is it seems off to me. Other than that they work fine. But I don't always want them taking up two spaces if you know what I mean. Any ideas?

I was waiting for a mod like this for so long! I just have a problem with Jean though... She can't fly.... :phoenix: There is also something with Rogue's flight anim but I kinda like it so it's ok ^^

You have to install the latest version of  the Official Characters mod and start a new game with default stats, otherwise any mod from this site wont work as it should.

You will need to start a new game with default stats. The flight problem is probably because of that and although Whiteking already said it you may not have seen it.

Having similar problems, with this batch, all the hero stats are accurate, double checked everything step by step, but a few of these characters lack showing up in the character select screen and crashed. Tried reading all the tutorials to everything, have a decent understanding and have quite a few of the other characters in place and working. Just this pack can't get it to jive :/  :carnage:

How does one unlock the 4th costume for these characters? I've only downloaded Juggernaut, but his 4th costume is locked, his other three weren't.  Tried killing a few hundred enemies, but that didn't help, any reply is appreciated

thanks a lot for this mod, but like with the official characters mod i was wondering if these are ripped and ported from the actual xml2 game or if they were custom created and made to resemble them instead? also i know that the psp versions were addressed but is there still any possibility of a rip or port of them? x-man, cable, and dark phoenix have to be the best characters in the game. sorry if this question seems stupid still new

help i folowed every stepped on adding heroes but they wont showup. I have the latest offical character pack too. It seems everyime I try to add juggernaut using  heroselect it wont add any any other characters. EX: If I try to add Juggernaut and :wolverine: it wont cause Juggernaut is there but if I add wolverine by himself it will work

Did you properly edit the herostat.cfg in the heroselect folder?

Great mod. The whole reason I have this game on PC is so I can use XML2 characters and whatnot (mostly just Juggernaut though). I love computers.

I've run across an issue though...

I've already posted in the technical problems section on an issue with items not increasing the damage output on powers for certain characters (Rouge, Emma Frost and Juggernaut).

I'm posting here in hopes of getting more attention to this (only two posts on the aforementioned topic thus far; one being my own the other was made two years before).

Anyone aware of this and/or know a possible fix?

I need help with Jean Grey. The animation for her punchies is missing. And yes, I have installed the OC pack before any other mod. I also tried to give her the fight style of Spider Woman, for example, by making a copy of 38_spider_woman_4_combat.igb and renaming it to 123_phoenix_4_combat.igb, but still nothing. My only guess is that it is due to the lack of the fightstyle file in the data/fightstyles folder. Please reply!

P.S. Forget my last comment. I have found a way to fix Jean Grey's melee combat animation.
Step 1:Make sure Captain America is NOT among the first 27 characters in the herostat in the heroselect folder.
Step 2:Replace the _4_ combat files in the actors folders (re-name 123_phoenix_4_combat to 07_captamerica_4_combat (2) and then rename 07_captamerica_4_combat to 123_phoenix_4_combat, and obviously, remove the (2) from 07_captamerica_4_combat (2))
This worked for me. It should work for you as well.
Note: This method is for the XML2 Jean Grey. Not sure if it works for the MUA 2 conversion. See for yourself about that one.
P.S. I hope I won't get banned for asking a question and then answering it myself, I just had no idea at the point of posting the question.

p.s.- it fixed her combos but her powers are weird now. shoots mental bolt from stomach, cant throw them, and telekinesis is making her twitch...o_O

P.S. NEW SOLUTION TO JEAN GREY'S ISSUES! (does not interfere with power animations anymore...)
You need the Dark Phoenix mod and make a copy of her _4_combat file. Then re-name the copy to phoenix_4_combat.igb (or whatever Jean Grey's actors _4_combat file was) and you should have the animations almost normal! (P.S. the only animation changed from what it was supposed to be is the 4th power with that Phoenix explosion)

ok that worked, only problem is her smash attack and telekinesis animation goes off to the side...was that intentional or glitch? also i added professor x and now he is doing the same thing jean was...tried swapping with another combat file but didnt work...any ideas?
