The big ole' research thread
« on: February 14, 2019, 03:15pm »
MODEL SWAPS
Files are CONFIRMED interchangeable between the following:
*GameCube: GC XML1, XML2
*PlayStation 2: PS2 XML1, XML2, MUA1
*Xbox: PS2 XML1, XML2, MUA1, Xbox XML1, XML2, MUA1, PC XML2

XML (the file type)
X-Men Legends 1 uses actual .XML (markup) language to layout everything. For those who don't know what the XML language is, think of it as HTML, but you can make the tags whatever you need to suit your needs. No that being said, whatever is reading the XML file has to know what those tags mean, so don't go thinking you can just add new tags and make it work!

Running on more modern platforms
*GameCube: Can be emulated on the PC using Dolphin. Can also be played on the Wii and Wii U (it's GREAT on the Wii U, by the way. Wii U gamepad is so much fun with XML!)
*PlayStation 2: Can be emulated on the PC using PCSX2. Dunno if it runs on the PS3.
*Xbox: Does NOT run on the 360 (neither does XML2 or MUA1). Well, it runs, but there are so many graphical errors its unplayable. Everything is extremely warped.

X-Men Legends only runs on PS3s that were made in 2008 or earlier. 2009 or later won’t play the game

Something to do with the 60GB version (40GB version as well?) if I recall correctly. Sony removed backwards compatibility from the PS3 after a point, most likely due to the PS2 still selling well.

If you have a soft-modded ps3 like i do then you can still play XML1 and 2 and MUA on it with minimal graphical gliches XML1 looks amazing on ps3 xD

But you wouldn't need a 7th gen emulator if you have a 6th gen emulator already.
