I figured that I should start a new thread instead of contiuing to clutter a skin thread. Anyway all of professor's abilities seem to work well. The only one is psychic cloak doesn't make him invisible per say, but the enemies seem to still ignore him when it is appied. So I guess it would make more sense since he doesn't really go invisible but is just manipulating someone's mind. The new extreme works nicely but it is all white cause I didn't play with the colors yet. Anyway I will leave all the new effects white for now and recolor them later. Just as long as they work. Psychic Maelstrom looks prety cool too with the explosion and all.

His psychic hammer move is probably going to be called psychic punch because I can't get the animations to work right for the hammer. Now his hands glow and a psychic dart comes out from it. I am going to work on icons tonight to release an alpah.

Thanks. I know! I love Psychic Maelstrom too! I would recolor the stuff but am unsure how to. The little bit of color you see in psychic burst is an accident, I probably transcribed something wrong. When I did havok's recoloring I just changed the line that said color, but thesed don't seem to have that.

Thanks. Until I figure out how to recolor I will be woking on an update that gives Emma Frost 2 new powers. The first will put in her psionic beam that apocolypse steals from her in the game + some bonuses with it and the second will be a radial that causes fear and gradual residual damage (called Insanity Plague). I also may be adding another skin to her wardrobe. :)

Thanks, I'll work on it once I get an alpha of the emma update out. I have previews of the two moves. I am done with the ps and talent files and need to make icons and possibly more skins. I plan on doing her generation x costumes (1st and 2nd versions). There is a remote possibility I might do one based on her more modern costume, but no guarantees. I know you fixed the xml1 skins for diamond form nodoubt_jr, I need to do it for the rest. If I may ask, when I am looking at the file in a hex editor is its skin number obvious? yeah the number inside is easy to see, just look for a number like "2101" by themselves and just change it with a hex editor. I dont know exactly what number needs to be changed, so i just change all of them, for example i would change all "2101" to "5401" or something like that. So just look for the number of the original model and change it to the new number model.

just tried it out and its great. insanity plague is great, im glad enemies stop, makes it easier to defeat them. I like the psionic beam, but the red charge/power looks a little weird to me, like it doesnt belong. Im definetly keeping these changes.

i think it would look better being the same color as the beam itself, kind of like she's absorbing psychic energy through one hand and discharging it through the ohter

She's not meant to be an uber powerful fighting character (outside of her Diamond Form). She's meant for support and strategy mostly, or tanking. Hence why most of her moves do minuscule damage (in XML1 they didn't do any), but are effective if used right. If her fear effects affected players in the danger room, then she would rail you every time. I can code her powers that way if you want.
Being that she can't use her powers while in Diamond Form, she turns into a heavy hitter. The best way to play her is to spam Mind Control and Fear, then turn on the Diamond and lay down the law.
oh no i like the way she is, i talked about the dangeroom because i would test out all my new npc against her in teh dangeroom because her powers didnt really have an effect on them and i could test the new characters in a fight, but now with insanity plague and the psy beam she actually damages the other character.
Sorry if I stepped on your toes there. But I figured that if I was going to add power moves to her, I would do it in the end. Almost like that she learns her power moves after developing as a support character.

Not much, but I did update psylocke's menu portrait file so it doesn't conflict with his. She now takes over Destiny's Portrait file to ease the problem for those like me (if any) use both in their game.
***As a side note, I also did this with Dark Phoenix (don't remember who I used) and Havok uses Moira's selection portrait. Another huge note is not to use blink's portrait file as a base because it is too small of a file to display properly!

Basically I added 2 new abilities and 5 new skins to BurningRage's Emma Frost.
I also added 2 new icons to go with the abilities, but the others were made by BurningRage.

You can try renaming only the isolated "10101"s into "9004"s in the text panel. By "isolated", I mean those that have got no other text around them, just boxes or something else.
thats what I tried but it locked up the game when you select the skins. The problem I think is because I am changing a five digit number to a four digit. Thanks for the help though.

Tried that one just now. It doesn't crash the game, but does keep her in her diamond form skin after diamond form expires. So basically once you pick diamond form she stays like that. Thanks again though

Hey Matt, you *MIGHT* be able to fix the 5 digit problem like this:
1-Open her up in a hex editor
2-Replace the five digit number with your new four digit, ignoring the last number for now
3-Find a byte that translates to 00 on the binary side. Copy that byte over the last digit
4-Save and test

Yeah, and it should work on the inverse too. You should be able to add one digit so long as you type over a 00 byte.

does anybody know which animation ea would be just a simple punch for professor x? As of now he does the whole swing action for his psioinic punch and I want it to look more like a punch.

Probably a melee move....... check shared_anims (or shared_animations, I forget which) for the names of basic melee anims in IGB vs Powerstyle
Thanks BliZZ. I found it no problem. Now I just have to figure out which punch I want to use. I think the hook punch may be the one.
Ok I got his earth punch to work with the move. Now it actually looks like he is punching.
I also added an additional charge so his head charge goes on with the fist glow. So now all the effects and animations are done. I also redid his talent file to make it so he doesn't learn too much at once and revamped the herostat for his initial stats. Next to do:

I am going to start on an update of Emma Frost. She will be getting a skin revamping and sounds added. I may not add a new fighstyle since I learned how to reference menu animations in the powerstyles (I think), which allows me to add her menu_goodbye adn menu_action animations to her powers (probably the kiss for a boost and I will have to see for the other one). I think she has enough animations to tide her over for the mod, especially with her menu animations added to the selection.
nix that... It seems that menu_goodbye isn't even referenced in the shared_anim.XMLB. I tried to add it, but the game still doesn't recognize it. I will probably add Invisible Woman's skeleton as a fightstyle.
that sucks, i had tried adding stuff to the shared_anim file along time ago, but it didnt work, i just thought it was a mistake i had done. BTW im also using Invisible Woman as a fightstyle for Jubilee, lol, we are running out of female mua playable skeletons (stupid Spiderwoman only has like 3 attacks)
I am only borrowing 3 power animations since I can reference menu_action for her one boost. I am having problems with the attacks being choppy though, I have to see what is doing it. I will be working on her sounds soon.
i dont think it really matters if we use these skeletons over and over, unmodded characters all share the same fightstyle so that should not matter, plus like you said we are only using some of the power animations (both my Blink mod and X-23 mod use Elektra as a second fighstyle, but you can hardly tell since they only share one power animation).

As a side note, 9004 and 9007 will be screwy with diamond form since I had problems hexing them.
An Update will be released as soon as I figure out how to edit them so they don't crash. These two

There were a lot of problems with it, that you can't see in the pic too well. Her neck is weird since Polaris wears armor around it. Also there is a problem with her jacket unless it is worn open like that. That is why I never released it. Maybe when I get more time to investigate and alter I can go back to it.
i was just wondering if you put all of the invisible woman's animations with emma. because i wanted to use her kinetic surge animation and needed to know the ea_power number for her powerstyles

The one thing nodoubt_jr told me is that you have to have the fourth character as a character that uses one of the original xml2 fightstyles (So any original XML2 character or Dark Phoenix will work in that spot. which one? I think you may be refering to popup, which if it is is fixed in the Polaris Download (she uses the same fightstyle).
it still the same and now when i try Polaris and Emma together the game crashes please help me BTW you did a shocking job with Polaris wow how did you get the voice sound really good and the new effects look perfect.
It the combo where they do alittle something like a little cyclops blast, i remeber she had (burningRage version) the same thing as jean and which seems like a mental attack.
matt, for the fightstyle attack "attackknockback2" you use the anim "ea_attack_knockback2", that is not an animation name xml2 understands, check out shared_anims.xmlb. For the mua conversions i usually changed the name to power_16 or power_17, i already changed all the non working anim names in the MUA conversion fightstyles, you might want to use those to save yourself the trouble of having to redo all the naming.
also for Mystiques "attackstun2", you used "ea_attack_stun", it should be ea_attack_stun1, 2 or 3. also her "attackknockback2" has the same issue as emma.
I am wondering why they would crash. They are totally different except for the fightstyle. Maybe I should just make her have a unique one. I will also fix the knockbacks for both.
Ok that was the problem. We cannot share new fightstyles, so lesson learned. This will fix the attack_knockback problem. As for the crashing problem with both Polaris and Emma on team, redownload Polaris and start a new game since her new update uses fightstyle_polaris instead of fightstyle_frost.

Ok here is an alternate version of Emma Frost that is more friendly. I actually like this one better than the dual skeleton one (I kind of also like Havok better with one skeleton too). I made it so that I could maximize what she has. In this one, compared to the one with the new fightsyle, only repeats an animation (ea_power3) one more time. With that one I made it an attack, which kind of makes it look different. I also added a unique attack_stun3 (similar, but not the same as Goblin Queen) and took Nodoubt_jr's advice to add her diamond skin (with strenght boost) to her attack ground and jump attack. Finally Diamond Form was tweaked a bit more by adding might to it (from Noboubt_jr's Stepford Cukoo mod). Enjoy!

Actually I might test something a while ago with Emma. It seems there may be a way to define skin change based on the skin in the package files and powerstyle. I will give it a go soon and report my findings.

I've already tried ea_menu_bye, ea_menu_goodbye but none of them works...
you cant use menu goodbye as an animation, it was never added to the shared_anims.XMLB file by the creators (sadly adding stuff to it doesn't seem to work). so nothing is going to work. what you could do is hex change it to a power name (power_x) and just have your new character not have a menu goodbye.

I discovered the way we can use menu_goodbye animations in powers without hex-edit or losing any other animation...
All you gotta do is change some animation you don't use in shared_anims in Data Folder.
For example:
...
ea_power16 = power_16 ;
ea_power17 = power_17 ; ===> ea_power17 = menu_goodbye ;
ea_power1_end = power_1_end ;
ea_power1_hold = power_1_hold ;
...
So the menu_goodbye animation should be refered in the powerstyle file as the animation you changed (in this case ea_power17).

thats cool, but if you have a mod that uses power_17 as an animation, this will mess it up as instead of playing the right animation, it will end up playing the wrong animation (menu_goodybe)
these two might be better if you plan on doing this

as no specific animation is used for those and i doubt any mod/character uses it since no animation is set to it.

I recolored some effects based on Cable's and some others characters powers effects and added new powers sounds based on Ghost Rider and Spiderwoman's powers sounds.

The new sound files don't work and did you mean to delete the extra effects like the knockback spike and the diamond form on the ground smash?
You have to replace all the files inside the pack and start a new game in order to everything work properly and pay attention to the instrutions in this thread.
Well, this new power (I think it's diamond fist, or something like that) is not in this pack. So if you install this pack, you will not have this power avaliable.
Maybe, with the permission of matt710 I may include this power in the pack...
Yeah, I installed correctly and started a new game. The animations are fine and everything looks great, just for some reason, the new .zsm files don't seem to be working for me?
I dunno, were there other instructions in this thread earlier that I missed? It just might not work for my heavily modded game. Looks great either way, shadow. If I can't get the sound, its not too much of a loss only because I like the powers you gave her as well as her Passive looks a helluva lot better around the characters head as opposed to their hands.
Also great job changing the Diamond Form.

And this update doesn't work on matt710's MOD, because it uses two skeletons and my update uses only one (the original from XML1) and fighstyle psionic... So, if you use my update, you will lose the benefits provided by a "2-skeletons" MOD...

Matt710, what should I do to hex Emma's skins? Because if I use a skin not included in the pack, everytime there's a skin change (like in Diamond Form), when the power expires, Emma is using a totally different skin...
use I used Blaw's skin once and she turned into some evil armored minion.

matt710 isn't active as of now (last active in october) and the links in the character mod catalog should work.
