Post by: nodoubt_jr on February 24, 2009, 07:58PM
Brotherhood Edition
Version 1.3

This is a package mod that adds a separate exe and files that allow you to play with a roster full of Brotherhood of Mutants characters. Its roster runs separately from the base game.

Well, not to complain but I cant open the Brotherhood edition game for XML2.

You have to install it to the same folder that your XML2 game is installed to.  Don't worry, it won't conflict with your regular XML2 game.

Here we go, a little debug here, I'm using a french XML2, so after renaming all the engb to freb, I found several issues below:

:pyro: Pyro has only 2 skins, not even including the one in the screen capture above
:blob: Blob's footprint effect is now actually explosion, right under his feet, for every step he makes...
:deadpool: Deadpool doesn't appear, Instead a ??? showed up in the list
:mystique: She and Forge also don't appear to be having the skin showed up in the screen capture

That's all for now, continue testing with all admiration for this brilliant bundle ;-)
Really good bundle indeed!! :elektra:

are you done playing through the game? because this edition unlocks stuff like the regular game.  so as you go a long more and more customes are unlocked (so maybe you havent unlocked all of Pyro's and other character skins), and Deadpool is locked until you beat the game (unlocking just like he does in the regular game).  Blob's footprint effect is a small cloud of dust, is this what you see or a real explosion?

Post by: Jacques on May 13, 2009, 08:23PM
Oh, sorry, I thought it was the same like the ALL XMEN version, everything was unlocked from game start... My apologise. For Blob, what I see is like the lower right screen of the second picture in your first post, that doesn't looked like a cloud of dust at all..;

Great mod. I've been waiting for this cause I can't seem to get the single characters to work in my game, no matter what I try. But one question: Goblin Queen started with no powers, is she suppose to?
Title: Re: Brotherhood Edition
Post by: nodoubt_jr on May 21, 2009, 05:48PM
thanks, theres a mistake in her herostat entry, the entry has the first point going to "gob_telek" and it should be "gob_tele".  So what you can do is either edit the "herosbro.engb" file and change this or play until she gets a point you can use.  If i ever do an update i'll fix this.

(i think this had already been asked in this thread, but the posts dissapeared when the site was down.)

-New herosbro.engb file so that the Goblin Queen starts with a power
-New Goblin Queen loadscreen by shafcrawler (this one will replace the old load screen). Preview the loadscreen here http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p147/shafcrawler/MadelynePryor.jpg

Excellent mod, Blob is a complete BEAST what with just his Butt Slam & Belly Flop being able to clear out entire rooms by themselves..not to mention he is very fun to play. Kudos on this nodoubt_jr :)

This "mod" sounds so awesome.  I really like the fact that you don't have to replace or edit any files whatsoever!  It makes me to want to start playing XML2 again.  Thanks for the release and especially how you designed it.

speaking of both editions
is there any way i could make a team that has say... marrow, stephord cuckoo, psylocke and say angel with these?
you know what i mean?
Title: Re: Brotherhood Edition
Post by: nodoubt_jr on June 09, 2010, 03:49PM
Yeah you can do that you would just have to edit the herosbro.engb (herostat for Brotherhood Edition) file and maybe new_gamb.py (new_game.py for Brotherhood Edition) to unlock them if they are not unlocked from the beginning.

alright!
wait.
wait wait wait wait...

do I have to do the whole decompile-recompile cycle for the herostat?
And how do i even edit the py file?

Post by: nodoubt_jr on June 09, 2010, 05:34PM
Yes and .py files can easily be edited with notepad or any other simple program like that.

Hi
I have a question about switching out a character. Would it be possible to add X-23 in place of marrow, but still be able to use marrow's danger room mission?

Would editing the dangeroob.engb file to change the character challenge name to X-23 be enough, or is there more to it?
Title: Re: Brotherhood Edition
Post by: nodoubt_jr on September 14, 2010, 06:32PM
Yeah if you replace Marrow with X-23 and want to use her danger room mission than you need to edit dangeroob.engb and change "hero = Marrow_hero ;" to "hero = X23 ;"

I have a quick question... Can I have the all mutants one, and this one at the same time?

Like, can I have a all mutants saved game, and just start a new game with brotherhood... and switch between saved games, and have both editions? lol

Sorry if my question is so newbish.. but I'm having a little trouble with all this modding... xD

Thanks in advance!

They all have different .exe launchers and different save folders. So you could have all four brother, x-men, mua, and yours and none of them conflict with any.

Exactly what Edward said. The only issue is that some Editions have more up to date stuff, so this is my recommended install order for these editions

1) Marvel Universe Edition
2) All X-Men Edition
3) All X-Men Edition Update
4) Marvel Universe Edition Update
5) Brotherhood Edition
6) Brotherhood Edition Update
7) Individual Mod updates for All X-Men Edition and Marvel Universe Edition

Or right, I forgot to point that out about some being more updated with certain mods. Thank you nodoubt_jr for making this cause is so cool how you could have four different games, I just wanted to thank you for all your hard work on everything you have done.

I just want to be COMPLETLY 110% sure, all I have to do is download it, open it, and play on a new saved game, right? Also what are the team bonuses?
Title: Re: Brotherhood Edition
Post by: nodoubt_jr on April 16, 2012, 07:21PM
Yes, read the instructions, all you have to do is unzip and play.  I don't have a list of the team bonuses, if you open team_bonub.engb you can see them.

Is Mystique really that strong ? When I used her, she was like "invincible". When she is attacked, she will heal immediately. :scratchhead:

Nice work anyway. :D

don't think of it as a silly question but how can you get the homing beacon in act in the sewers where you need to drain the power from the generator to stop the fan? as far as i know, only storm can drain the power from the generator...:'(

The Brotherhood Edition has been updated to version 1.2. Several files have been renamed to improve compatibility with OpenHeroSelect (OHS) v4.8.0:
- The herostat is now called hero_bhe.engb
- The team_bonus file is now called team_b_bhe.engb
- The danger room file is now called danger_bhe.engb
- The mod now includes its own characters_heads package, characters_h_bhe.pkgb
- The new_game script file is now called new_bhe_.py
- The mod now includes its own new_game_hard script file, called new_bhe__hard.py
- The exe is now called Xmen2_BHE.exe. It is now the smaller cracked exe, and it references the updated file names.
- The herostat entries and roster file have been separated out to be easily used with OHS.

It is recommended that you reinstall the game to use this new version.
