I just got the ps2 version from gamestop today and I have played through the first level. The heroes that are available at the start of the game is a weird bunch. Hulk is unlocked from the start, he joins the team as soon as you reach the first shield point. This game looks like they took the game editor from mua1 and just made new levels. Its fun but really it doesnt seem that much better than mua1. And without a pc release who knows if modding will be possible. Though maybe it will be possible to extract textures/models from mua2 and use them in mua1. :) I think the hulk mod on this site looks better than their hulk model. Looks like a little kid hulk :(
After playing batman arkham asylum i was really hoping MUA2 would be this great awesome game but seeing it as mua1.5 really upsets me. :/ What do you guys think?
Update: My xbox 360 is finally fixed and bought MUA2 for it yesterday. I've played until the start of the second mission and so far I am loving it to pieces. I'm amazed at the difference between this and the ps2 version. The the same exact thing activision did with Spiderman web of shadows, making a subpar version for the older/portable systems. Anyway I digress. The game is awesome I love how detailed the costumes are up close. And the voice work is excellent. I'm glad they got all of the voice actors from the first game. I can't wait to unlock Thor and Hulk!
:venom: :hulk_icon: :thor: :thing:
From what I've seen inside the PS2 version's files, it should be at least as moddable as MUA1, meaning retextures would be possible. Can't promise anything else though.
MUA2 PS2 models crash MUA1 PC. They do NOT work for some reason. It seems their mannequins work but that's about it. Not sure about the boltons though, I can't remember. Other than the talents and powerstyles (which are kind of worthless, except the powerstyle definitions), there's really not much that can be used from the PS2 version of MUA... far less than I thought would be useable. However, we can rip the PS2 textures and apply them to Wii models, but that's a pain in the ass really and a time consuming process.
Sometimes. I´m getting the hand of it however ^^

The true MUAII is really for 360 and Ps3 but if you don't have those consoles you are out of luck
That's just elitist.

Absolutely.

I'm just stating my opinon. And it is the truth. Almost everything we learned about MUA2 from the site doesn't apply to WII and PS2.
The only similar things between the versions are some characters, name, and parts of the story. Otherwise they are two different games
Haven't you realised that you're not allowed an opinion on the internet?
And I call the Wii/PS2 version the true version of MUA2 (not, but pun is intended because: ), we can actually use the files of those XD XD XD`
Seriously, the Wii version got me kinda addicted. With kinda I mean not 100%, because I have not touched my wii for like 4 days now. I'm lucky to have a Wii ^^

Sounds more VV fanboy, n-Space hating.

What about taking the PS2 NPCs and making them playables in the game - is that even possible?
Possible, if 2 people work together ( 8-) ) (or more) on all the Wii models and apply the PS2 or Wii textures on them. I'm working on Cable at the moment
Btw, if BR says the PS2 models crash the game, they crash the game. I've tested it; only the mannequins work but their backs have been shaved badly... Meaning that they don't even have a back!

You stated that like it was a fact, its not a fact its your opinion, and its kind of rude.
I feel really weird as people here keep bagging about VV but when I say N-Space did bad everyone starts attacking me.

Fixed that for you again.
No one attacked you and your comment was rude because you basically told the people that have the wii/ps2 version that they dont really have MUAII, but some lesser version, and then told them they were out of luck because they didnt have the "better" console. Both are MUAII, both are updated and advance, they are just different from each other. And didnt you find the VV attacks rude and annoying? So why would you turn around and do the same to the n-space. Im not saying you shouldnt criticize it, but you should at least be understanding that just as you felt you had to defend the VV version, others will feel like they have to defend the n-space version.
Out of the two, which would have had a larger budget? VV.
What did VV waste the budget on? Useless textures that you won't even see very well at the distance you normally play at. That decision stopped them from making more, better costumes. That decision would have stopped them from creating more powers. I'd personally much prefer to have more powers and costumes at the expense of such trivial details.
BTW the ps2/wii versions do have new models, not reused models, Ms Marvel, Phoenix, Gambit, etc. all use new models. So far the only one ive seen that is exactly the same is Cyclops.
I haven't got the game yet, but I was wondering, is the way they did the story line for the PS3/360 the same way or is that changed?

It's very similar, but some NPCs are different.

I have tested it,too. The character models do crash the game. :(
The PS2 boltons didn't crash my game, but I couldn't see them on the screen, which is kinda strange......

that is what happens in xml2 too when i try to load a bolton that doesnt work in xml2, it doesnt crash the game but nothing shows up. Im guessing thats what happens when we load a skin that doesnt work in the game too, theres nothing to load so a character with no skin crashes.

Do the PS2 animations work in XML2? I don't have XML2 installed anymore. So, I can't test.
no they dont, so we dont get animations or skins (not even new meshes) :(

That's one more reason to shift to the MUA-modding business.... :P
Nah i like XML2 to much :D
Port XML2 to MUA... :runaway:
-scratches head- I really don't see that big a difference between the PS2 and PS3 graphics - I'll admit that one is cell-shaded and looks more like the cinematic (not to mention action figures) but I think I like the cartoony comic style of the PS2 graphics more
I must be getting old ^^;

There weren't any cel-shade in MUA2-PS2.
*sigh* Quote

I was talking about the PS3 graphics being cell-shaded and how they look like cheap plastic action figures. I like the PS2 more because it seems cooler to me
Those aren't cel-shaded either. Nothing in any MUA2 is cel-shaded.
X-Men Legends 1 and 2 were cel-shaded, right? And first, MUA was cel-shaded aswell, but the developers changed this to it's current look.
But we're talking MUA2 here XD
I know, but still. Even MUA 1 wasn't cel-shaded, so MUA 2 can't be cel-shaded aswell (it wouldn't be an improvement).

All I can say is don't judge how different 2 verion look by simply watching YouTube videos....................

Only early prototypes of MUA1 had cel-shade. Some leftover character models in MUA-PC have cel-shade.
That's what I meant. Without the leftover stuff :D
I think they need better system for fusions, longer story, and voice actors for conversations. This stuff would be nice too: Team bonuses, skins, neater graphics, and more damaging powers for weaker characters would make it even better
So...You mean we need almost everything?
No, as I said I do think think the first three are needed. Bases don't feel like Hq without people talking to you and hearing their sound.
The fusions are horribly made. You never know which fusion you will be using and may use a targeted one for a situation needing a whole clearing attack. You just waste fusion points. The 360 version gaves a label of which type of fusions you have for the characters: clearing, guided, or targeted.
For me, MUA 1 PS2 is much better then MUA 2 PS2 could ever be. It had everything, what I liked in the game.

100% agreed!
Besides, some of the fusion moves look like a retoned version of 2 consecutive Xtremes in MUA1.
I agree. I think, even if they didn't had the money, they could have done this version better.
I just meant I liked the PS2 version better - and I've played the PS2 version on a friends. Even if it was the XBOX-360 version that my cousin has I still wouldn't BUY either because I don't like the lack of skins, the focus on graphics of the newer model platforms or the hundreds of glitches in the older platforms
Well, nowadays it's a battle between gfx vs gameplay, instead of a full cooperation. There are games which have that combination. However, a third party is involved in that battle when talking about MUA2... It's called content, and it's a loser -_-'
That's the way I see it btw ^^
I don't dispute it - in fact I agree. If the game is released for the PC (fat as in chance) then I MIGHT buy the game - but as it stands now its more like a badly coded expansion pack than an actual sequel. I can't stand the graphics of the 360 and PS3 (especially Hulk who looks TOTALLY stupid - red Hulk is COMPLETELY unbearable) and the glitches (though the PS3 has almost as many) and loading time for the PS2 and WII are unbearable.
I still prefer the PS2 - it has more enemies, it has Cyclops and Psylocke and the models are at least tolerable. However, as stated, I wouldn't BUY either :P So I'll just stick to renting it or playing it on other peoples platforms if I get the urg
