Activision has confirmed many upcoming games in a financial conference call today. Two new Guitar Hero titles will
be released between April 1 and June 31, 2008 and another Guitar Hero title is also due for release this fall. It is
expected that the fall release will be Guitar Hero IV and that one of the others will be the DS version of Guitar Hero
called "Guitar Hero On Tour". A new Spider-Man title and a sequel to action-RPG Marvel: Ultimate Alliance were also announced.
As for the new Call of Duty game, the publisher only mentioned that the first-person war shooter would be hitting PC,
PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.
Other than their existence, no further details were revealed regarding the new Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Spider-Man
titles. The company also reaffirmed its intent to release a new James Bond game alongside the feature film this fall.
In general, all of the titles are slated to arrive during the company's 2009 fiscal year, which runs from April 1, 2008
to March 31, 2009. If provided, more specific timeframes were noted above.
WAHOOOO!!

Finally !!! maybe new spiderman is friend or foe 2 ... mua 2 better come out for pc
PC version of MUA2 or a game with 50+ playable characters :P
Oh, it's a very good new for us ! ! :D.
YES!! so cool! mua2: rise of galactus!
Wow... I thought they would NOT be doing a follow up,
with so many character licenses gone to the competition?
Sega has the rights to the Marvel movie characters now,
which include Iron Man, Thor, Cap, Hulk...
Do you suppose they worked out an agreement to be able to
have a follow up anyway? This is awesome news, but I hope
we aren't stuck with a limited character roster that has
no Avengers in it...
Maybe a follow up was a part of the initial agreement.
Can't wait to hear more on this.
:stark:
I read somewhere that the deal between Marvel and Activision allows them to use whoever they want from the Marvel universe, while Sega has the rights to make the games in which those specifics characters are the main ones. For example, I don't think that they could name the game something like "Captain America and the Avengers", and it probably won't have those characters in the box-art.
Then again, I read this in the gamefaqs board...
I thought this depends what kind of license (exclusive vs non-exclusive) the game company wants. ...kinda like how it works in the statues and busts scene (Sideshow, Bowen, Hard Hero, etc.)?

Interesting. They DID only made the EXTRA downloadable MUA characters after the Hulk's licensing was freed up and returned to Marvel. If they had the right to use whoever they wanted, they would have used Hulk from the start. But maybe this is a part of their NEW deals, to keep the doors open for follow up products if they are hits. (ie. Sega would have to make room for a follow up to MUA, since it did well... like they do with movies.) I'm guessing here, because I'm darn curious. AND I'm hopeful that we have no restrictions on MUA 2.
And to follow up on what Mingy said, both Activision's and Sega's announcements claimed exclusive rights when they were first acquired. So obviously, some provision is in place to allow this... or we'll be seeing a limited line-up in the new game.

I'm actually hoping for a roster with a lot of NEW characters in it, even if that means dropped ones. Remember, we would (hopefully) still be able to mod in the likes of Cap, Stark, and Thor with their MUA stuff if they don't appear due to licensing.
(We better get an official PC Hawkeye this time around :king:)
This is the best video game news I've heard all year.
What would y'all like to see?
ALL Xbox 360 Gold Edition playable characters
Quicksilver, Sentry, Professor X, Beast, She-Hulk, Odin, Mephisto, Juggernaut
More costumes
Graphics akin to Transformers, Spider-Man 3, or Full Auto
2-4 player VS mode
Custom mission creator

I seriously doubt that the M:UA mods made at this site could be easily ported. Given the current state of things, M:UA2 will most likely be released for next-gen consoles and PC (hopefully), which makes me think that current models won't be compatible with the next game.
Given how it's taking them 2 years to make this new one, they're probably using other tools to make models and stuff.
On the other hand, maybe all versions of M:UA2 will be compatible among each other, and if some platform gets exclusives, it would be easier to port them.
That said, I hope for a huuuuge roster (50 or so), no playable villains (I'd rather have more obscure heroes instead), more major villains to fight, one NYC streets level and a Team feature that encourages to try new characters.
As long as the PC version and the PS2 version exist, then most of the stuff should be compatible.

couldn't be easily ported. Given the fact that they used damn near the EXACT SAME engine for all 3 games in the series so far, I don't think it is a far cry to assume the models will be forward compatible. And, assuming MUA2 comes out for Wii, the chance of models for all systems being inter-compatible is slim to none (though them all being compatible for an anticipated PC version would be nice)

he's got a point!
wait a minute.. another spider-man game? i didnt feel the need for that. i mean.... they really need to make something new to sell it! like.... i dunno.. a playable dr octopus. WAIT! i know!
ALL spider-man villains.... ...cliff-hanger pause... ....playable!
huh? sounds nice.
Online co-op, Vs. Mode & DLC for ALL systems that can support it would be nice.
If licensing issues do get in the way of the character options, I see a repeat of XML2 with villains taking up half the roster, cooperating with the heroes to deal with a bigger threat (alien invasion maybe?). Star power is a factor in these kinds of games & well known villains are more marketable than obscure heroes.

Totally agreed with both ideas!!!
It would be great if there aren't any platform-specific exclusive contents...(Wishful thinking.) The fact that the PC version is "moddable" is not an excuse for missing the so-called exclusive contents. I have seen alot of ignorant super-duper-ultra-hardcore-next-gen-console-fans using this excuse to ditch the PC gamers.
*If* they do PC DLC it'll be free. Otherwise someone will pay for it, crack it, and release it to the public for free.
As far as things like Xbox 360 exclusives, Microsoft pays devs/publishers well to have 360 exclusives, which is why they'll always have exclusives.

Ditto here.
Runaways, young avengers, Hulk, jean grey, quicsillver, and namor. should be playible. maybe they'll use some of our mods because the license ( C:\Program Files\Activision\Marvel - Ultimate Alliance\Docs\enu/license)says:
QuoteAll New Game Materials created by you shall be exclusively owned by Activision and/or its licensors as a derivative work (as such term is described under U.S. copyright law) of the Program and Activision and its licensors may use any New Game Materials made publicly available by you for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to, for purpose of advertising and promoting the Program
so is posible they'll use noelmahcs :moonk: :colossus: blizz's :quicks: and :namor: dark_marks :venom: mingy's :ifist: etc
I'd like to see Sentry, Carnage, Modern Hulk, Wasp, Rogue, and Mystique. By modern hulk I mean like in world war hulk and civil war, hes smarter now. I would also like to see Grey Hulk if they actually made him not just give hulk grey skin and call it grey hulk. In the comics grey hulk wise-cracked as much as spiderman and had a very nasty temper. :) I remember the game that came out for the first hulk movie had a cheat code that let u play as grey hulk and they got it right, he wise-cracked non-stop just about throughout the entire game. :)
i just hope they'll add more features like, i dont know, climbing on walls (useful for spidey-venom-carnage-droctopus-lizard etc) maybe different camera options
i suppose they'll add new characters such as sandman, dr octopus, some of galactus' heralds maybe...
and i bet the graphics will be amazing! (well at least i hope they'll avoid the latex-covered-in-oil effect!!)
What would be a MUA game without Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Hulk? First of all Marvel is the one to give permission to companies to use the characters from their books and I would think that Marvel knowing that MUA sold really well that a sequel would be made and that certain characters from the first game would be in the sequel so they would make exceptions for Activision and/or Sega to have permission to use those characters in their games that they want to release. If MUA did not do as well as it did than Marvel would not care to have a sequel made. Cap, Thor, Iron Man and Hulk pretty much make up their mainstream universe as does Spider-Man and a slew of others and a game based on their universe especially a sequel would be nothing without Cap, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four. If these characters were not in a game that is based on the Marvel Universe than I would not buy it as I am sure others would not also. I know that they did not put the Hulk in the original game but only as DLC later. I would think and hope that they would put him in the second game as a character that actually has a comic mission. Activision has a second chance to make MUA better and how the characters should have been in the first game. I just hope that they dont mess it up.
I just hope Raven is doing the sequel.
why not they make part of the game vs mode, somehow similar to DoTA
DoTA?
i assume hes talking about Defense of the Ancients
Not sure how accurate this is (obviously it is just tentative, but it gives some hope) but it says that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is on the PC upcomming game list:
http://pc.ign.com/index/release.html
also for 360:
http://xbox360.ign.com/index/release.html
It has not been said which quarter this year but guessing probably Q4 being as how MUA 1 came out at that time in 2006. But it does say 2008 but of course I know that could change.
I would guess that the sequel will be coming out either in the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year, hopefully they are already in the planning stages of the sequel
yes, ive been waiting for the 2nd MUA since the first one came out. can't wait.
Easy on the language
Latest issue of Wizard Magazine had a blurb about he MUA sequel. Definitely confirmed for 2008..well, as confirmed as any PC game can be. Also there was mention of some part of the game being focused around the Marvel Civil War. Details are still few and far between, but definitely could be some neat stuff in the works.
But without Iron Man, we have to assume? What kind of a Civil War would that be then?
Why wouldn't Iron Man be in the game? Especially given the fact that his character is being hyped quite a bit with the upcoming movie and all. It would be a huge mistake for them not to include Iron Man in the game.
There was a big fuss a while back about how Activision lost the license to make games featuring him and several other characters. IIRC.
Hmm, I'll have to check into that some. That would be really unfortunate. I know Marvel has been in the process of reacquiring a lot of their licenses that were given out to keep things in house. Makes me wonder who carries the license now.
Well since sega is making the new iron-man and hulk games they probably hold their licenses .
Remember THQ also holds licenses and rights for Punisher.
so.... iron m,ans not gonna be in it 4 sure? waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! mooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyy
They haven't revealed a single thing other than that it's being worked on. So we don't know yet. I'd say it's pretty safe to say he will be, but we won't know until we find out more.
And don't forget that the F4 were taken over by 2K.
Yeah, but we don't know that they have exclusive rights. I've never seen any press releases on exclusive rights and whatnot, because if that's the case then Iron Man, Thor and Hulk are out due to other licensing issues. Doubtful, but I guess that's possible.

Not a good sign.. :(
Whether Raven is doing it or not is another question, too. :(
will in ign theres a Game Profiles for it, http://pc.ign.com/objects/142/14233949.html I really think they will make it for pc, I mean lately all the marvel games have also been for pc.
If they use the Alchemy engine it'd better be for PC, but if it's a new engine and not moddable I could care less.
What the ****!!! Fusing powers?? COME ON!!!
What's the point or even logic on spidey thowing lightning web?
I personally wanna play the "classic" heroes, no "new/crappy/weird" ideas...
Just increase the roster and give us what worked for the 1st one!
I am NOT sure that power fusion thing will work :(
Cheers
I hope they change the camera making it like a gta game I'm tired off seeing them like a boardgame. Anyone else agreed?
Disagreed actually. It'd be really hard to be able to see all four heroes.
True, if it was a solo game, then it might be better, but for a TEAM BASED ACTION GAME... it crearly would NOT work
Cheers

Yeah, there is no way for Spider-man to shoot lightning. I guess it's meant to be an improved version of the combos we do in MUA, XML2, XML1. For example, Spidey's webbing pairs up with Storm's chain lightning to form this new Web+Electic "fusion power."
"Price: $59.99 for PS3 and Xbox 360. $49.99 for Wii and PS2. $39.99 for PSP. $29.99 for Nintendo DS. Expected ESRB Rating" T/Teen- Suitable for those ages 13 and older."
from: http://marvelousnews.com/index.php?catid=23&itemid=11560
Still no news for the PC version... :(
Oh... in THAT case... i COULD be cool...
Something like Spidey tides the guys, and Storm shoots a lightning and the the tied up guy toasts?... yeah... sounds like fun XD
In that case, it would be interresting... but i surely don't wanna see spidey throwing some lighting based attacks...
Cheers
I hope it doesn't turn into something like "If computer users created PC version of Downloadable Content, then let them make their own version of Ultimate Alliance 2 as well".
The real issue from a business standpoint is that if they released DLC for PC it would have to be free since someone would hack it and make it available to everyone otherwise. Now that's not a terrible idea except for the fact that their money really comes from the next-gen consoles and the portables, with PC making the least number of sales. So all those console users would be pissed because PC got DLC for free and everyone else had to pay.
well its comming out for PS2, so if we dont get it for pc, we can at least hopefully use the models and skeletons and stuff like that.
Oooh, then hopefully we'll get Hawkeye too!

i just hope hulk has a healing fator this time. :hulk_icon:= :wolverine:
Indeed Hulk srsly needs a healing factor. So would Iron Fist if he activated a healing boost, if he ever appears in the game.

well they get DLC, end of story
nothing that exciting but
"Cebulski was asked about the second Ultimate Alliance game. He said it will be based partially on Civil War. He said he declined writing it, but knows who will be writing it instead. "I think fans will be really happy when they do announce who's writing it," Cebulski said."
from: http://www.newsarama.com/comics/080627-WWCMondoMvl.html (what i posted was the only mention of MUA2)
The new Games Informer is supposed to have information about M:UA2. Someone at gamefaqs posted some info about it ( http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=932588&topic=44019947 ).
Here's his info anyways:
Quote from: TheTrueMayhemAccording to the newest Game Informer piece about MUA 2: Fusion, I know that the Fantastic Four are going to be in it. They even revamped Invisible Woman so she doesn't suck so much arse. They said they got input from the fans, changed characters that people liked, but really sucked to play with in MUA 1.
If you haven't seen or read the article yet, you need to peep it. The graphics alone are just jaw-dropping. You can even see the tiny runes carved into Mjollner (sp?), Thor's Hammer. That, and they replaced the Xtreme Moves with something else that looks to be very very cool... Each character has a powered up move they use like an Xtreme move, but when they start doing it, another character from the team teams up with them and they do a brutal attack... each character has a different combo attack with each character in the game, making for a ton of different power up moves you can witness. For example, Invisible Woman starts creating a telekenetic ball while Iron Man shoots a beam at it. When the ball is about to explode from all the power from Iron Man's blast, she chucks it for large splash damage.
Seriously, from reading that article I am going to sell crack if I have to to get the money for that game. It's gonna be badass. Sorry to get all geeky fanboy about it, but it looks like it is going to blow everything that comes out at the same time it does way, way out for the water. I need to get an HDTV before I get the game ^^!
So if this is real, and I can't see why it wouldn't be, we have a name for the game, a new feature, and 6 more confirmed characters (Fantastic Four, Thor and Iron Man).
Eh, some forum post seems fake. I'll wait the week or so until E3 happens to find out more.
