Here's a place to release any custom skins you have. Yeah, I released some of these sporadically in the XML2 skins thread, but since they aren't official, they won't go in the big Mega-Pack.
First, a trip to the Age of Apocalypse:
AoA Angel, AoA Polaris, AoA Psylocke, AoA Beast
Now, returning to our beloved 616:
Modern Xorn, Classic Polaris, Classic Shadowcat, Classic Emma Frost
Only the Angel and Beast were made by me, the others are custom ones made by others that were floating around in my XML2 files.
Download here (http://www.momoshare.com/file.php?file=32f95e4002b7ba1f55a0dc39d3063762).
Oh! So you're the one who made the AOA Angel skin! That's great!
Do you mind if I include it in my Angel mod? I've been wondering who made it back in the days of XML2....
No, feel free to.
Shouldn't AoA Psylocke have the Crimson Dawn tattoo intact, unlike the current 616 version?
Just askin'.
On the other side, they're GRRRRRRREAT! Big thanks for Dark Beast :D
Do these work in XML2 also ???
Okay they do but the Emma Frost and Polaris Skin Appear Bluish
And Can you make corresponding HUD Icons or tell me how to
Thanks

Big thanks for Dark Beast :D
My method of making him was actually genius (at least I believe so :P)
I used Astonishing Beast's upper body and placed it over the Ultimate one's upper body (everything except the head has the same geometry) Then, I used a patch of AoA Piotr's leg as a base and expanded it to fill out the proper proportions. I then set the thing to grey scale.
I didn't even convert the RGB to BGR, I left it as is, and it looks the same in both games (except the belt was yellowish in xml2 and is blueish in mua).
I'm gonna hijack the thread for a moment, to post a couple of those skins you said I should post to the general public :)
Astonish Beast

Spider-Armour Spider-Man, plus work in progress Rockslide and Hellion

I suck with the screencaps, so if anyone wants to see what they look like, they can either try them out, of beg someone with a card that doesn't suck to post them :) Enjoy!

I really like those and Beast really cool
BTW I also like Blizz's custom black Beast already useing him thanks modders.

Personally, I woulda used a maskless Wolvy (for the hair-style), put they certainly look good :P
Hmmm...maybe if I get bored... :)
Woohoo Hellion and Rockslide!!! They totally rock. and here I thought I was the only one that likes the New X-men. The Astonishing version of beast is friggin awesome. And that has to be my favorite costume for Iceman, from back in the Jim Lee days.
I need to fix a couple errors for Hellion, and see if I can alter the bump-mapping for Rockslide, and I'll be good with them for their Decimation costumes. Same bump-map issue with Cessily, who's done except for the bump issue.
Quick Opinion Poll:
Who should I try to tackle next- Elixer, X-23, or Surge?
(I'm assuming that Dust would just be impractical, and yes, X-23 would have 3 claws. I'm not that good...)

The belts are a little off-putting, but otherwise they are good. I'm gonna stick w/ tommy's, though, mostly b/c of the belts :-X
If I may be so bold, may I make a couple of requests, which should be pretty easy to do?
Photon (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/de/PhotonGenis.JPG) - Iceman seems like he would be a pretty good base
Classic Gambit (http://images.wikia.com/marveldatabase/images/e/e4/Gambit_001.jpg) - Should be a pretty basic reskin of Modern Gambit ;)
Yeah, the belts suck. I just get put off by the weird geometry of some of the other skins out there, and Marv is the one PSPer I'd actually want to play as. I'll see what I can do about the others. Photon may not be high on my list, but classic gambit should be easy...
You DO realize Photon IS Genis, right? He'd be skin 5. Plus, look at the seksehness that is Photon. /drools
I'm gonna convert the custom AoA Jubes now (btw, darkmyth, do you happen to know who made AoA Jubes back in the XML2 days? I'd like to credit the maker :D)
Genis seems to have mostly fallen in that time when I wasn't reading comics anymore. I'm more interested in ole Marv at this point. But yeah, I'd run across photon hunting down reference images.
No clue about Jubes' AOA creator back in the day.
Here's retro Gambit. Between him, Cyke, Beast, and Iceman, I think I'm starting to corner the market on the early 90s.....

I'm all for Surge personally. Would love to see Cessily. Be great to have these guys in game.
Cessily is Mercury, right? That might be a nice change for Mister Fantastic, since his powers are pretty exclusive and his costumes are all so similar.
Okay, hidden skin notes :D
The Stepford Cuckoos have an alternate skin tucked into their Hudhead file (@ XML2\UI\hud\characters\3701.IGB).
Differently mapped, but still useful. Anyone care to try and adapt it to their actual model?
(Yes, these are just like the hidden Astonishing Beast that has been unearthed earlier, though not as ground-shaking)
::blinks::
I'll assume that that's a challenge for me.
(Yeah, we unearthed that poking around with the XML2 modding, but it seemed like such a pointless skin that we never really did much with it...)
I'll play around with it today, if I recover from getting up at 4am for a danged meeting.
Hi. New guy here, so don't you dare to tell me to f#ck off if this is not the right topic! ;)
I've looked almost everywhere in the forums, did a search, yada yada yada, and I couldn't find a Nate Grey/X-man skin. I did found a .gif of it, but I canĀ“t get the MUAskinner to work... even with help files... even with the tutorial...:(
So... could someone PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE make me one? I won't pay you, but I will be thankfull... :D
Quoteand I couldn't find a Nate Grey/X-man skin
That's because we don't have one. All we've got is the texture I've ripped from the PSP version (the model to which it belongs conveniently refuses to work outright). And this IS the right topic as far as I'm concerned :P
Well, that is a good reason why I couldn't find it... So tell me/us, are you going to give up trying to do it or will you keep trying when you have the time for it? I can imagine the amount of projects you guys have on your hands, but know this: there's a bunch of people out here who are hoping you forget about having a life just so that WE can have mods, skins, etc... ;)
I'm actually almost constatly trying new approaches (though not reporting on them - the general ratio of failures to successes would depress any non-OCD person on the planet), it's just that none have yielded significant results yet.

90's era Iceman
http://www.box.net/public/atzckq586u
How many images are intended to be in the .igb? Using texture finder, I only saw 2 (a 128, and a 256). I tried converting the model for use with XML2, and the texture looks funky (pics below).
Notice how his face is kind of bluish, as is his hair, and his suit has kind of a brown tint to it. Being that there is only 2 .DDS images in the file, and I've converted both, I don't know what else to do. *shrugs* You think you can fix this for XML2? It would be much appreciated, thanks.
EDIT: I don't suppose anyone would mind doing this skin for Invisible Woman? That would be hawt.

You've obviously missed the 64x, 32x and 16x mipmaps. Don't forget that TF doesn't always corectly guess the EOF, so you may have to offset manually to find them as they usually are in the very end of the file.
Check the official offsets thread, the model is the Wingless Modern Angel.
Time for some sugar from my end, huh?
Here's Black Moon Knight :D
This ain't 100% accurate (he wore long gloves with the black duds), this is a banal recolour of 4101, but it still gets the heart pumpin'. Also includes custom specular maps. Both the PC and PS2 versions included, for use with XML2 or the console games.

File: http://www.marvelmods.com/noelemahc/4104.rar
FILE UPDATED! This now contains proper model number references for compatibility with Arcade's Androids. If you're not up for re-downloading the file, you can just crack the IGB open in a hex editor and change all references to 4101 to 4104 inside the file EXCEPT FOR THE CAPE SEGMENT IN THE PS2 MODEL! Thank you for your cooperation.
Yesss, this calls for Deep Purple's "Black Night" playing in the background :D
cool, he can get a 4th costume and some different boosts...
Noel, thanks for the new Moon Knight. He looks GREAT! Have you given any thought to what passives should go with this skin? After looking over what he already has and some of the other characters, I thought maybe Dodge (DD), Skill Boost (DD), Reflect Damage (Cap), Striking (Spidey), Environmental Damage (Wolvy) and even calling to Khonshu to Resurrect Ally (Ghost Rider). Any thoughts would be appreciated. I don't want to overpower Spector but rather make him more well-rounded.
Resurrect Ally/Boxing
i can hook you guys up w/ the file containing 4th skin boosts, if you want
PS: Our name of choice is 'Retro', for those who care...
Yeah Blizz and I thought those would be best (with defense of course). The Xbox build have him that way too.
http://www.momoshare.com/file.php?file=0d29deb4212c132c1b48675205597652
This is for you, Khonshu!
I hadn't listed Boxing as a suggested passive since the Khonshu skin already has that. I'm glad that someone else was thinking about Resurrect Ally. That can be VERY valuable. I was completely surprised the first time it happened with Ghost Rider (I'm not dead yet!)
Yeah, boxing was something Blizz and I decided on.
No problem...I use a lot of the non-powered melee moves anyway, so the passive will come in handy.
Aaaand the show goes on.

Luke Cage's Gray Heroes for Hire outfit.
No custom specular maps this time, as the luminosity didn't change. Yeps. Again, contains both the PS2 and PC models for whatever modding needs you may have. Enjoi! I'm aware of the different boot coloration, and I intend to keep it that way. After all, the official skins also change in the transition from CG to NG - why shouldn't mine? :P
Both of these include the code mods for support of the mimicking by Arcade Androids, so make sure you don't change the 05 skin number :P

Well, a lame question...
I instatalled Black Moon Knight skin, defined it in herostat.engb, so far, so good.
But - The fourth (this one) skin appears to be there, but it is locked. If I am right, fourth skins are unlockable via finishing Training Missions (at least I unlocked them this way). There is no training mission for MK, so is there another way to unlock it?
Thanks
No, there's not. Only the cheats. The problem is that there's ALSO a limit on how many comic missions the game can have, so we can't have them for each character who doesn't. We're currently researching for other ways of making the extra skins unlockable in a pristine manner.
Nice work on the Cage!
Now that you have mapped the offsets (I officially HATE finding MUA offsets) I'm gonna go back and change H4H Cage's pants to blue. The question: Dark or Light?
PS: RE: MK's 4th: Colossus' 4th was unlocked by default, so somewhere, somehow, there is a way to do it.

QuoteI officially HATE finding MUA offsets
IF someone would swear to me on their mother's grave that they would take over the matter of finding a way to port X360 and PSP models to the PC; then I might promise to take care of mapping out every model there is in MUA.
As it is, I only map them out as I mod them - which will never cover ALL of them. Not ever, nuh-uh.
I'll get to work on H4H Cage then. :P
Dude, I don't want to be the cause of your suicide
But, if you give me 1 PSP model (Echo?) and one 360 model (any one), I will try to help w/ that.
While I put together a "young porter" DIY kit (which you will probably get when I get OUT of bed, i.e. in roughly 7 hours' time), check out the posts I've made and samples I've upped in the KB Models rundown thread. Those will get you started.

Does anyone know where to find a download for the new invisible woman skin I've been seeing posted? I can't seem to find anything except for the portrait for it. Thanks.
I was wondering that too.
Also, anyone has the offset values for all sizes of Spider-Man Symbiote skin? (0902) I guess.
I would like to make the skin darker, as it used to be in the comics but I cannot find the smaller offsets.
As far as I've been able to find out, Burning Rage did the skin, but hasn't released it yet.

Any one have any suggestions for what might work as a base skin for a Freedom Force Pyro skin?
http://www.marveldatabase.com/Image:Pyro_001.jpg
It would be fairly simple I think, if we can find the right base. The issue is so many skins have symmetrical chests making it impossible to recreate the FF logo or the off-center fire design on the right shoulder (AFAIK). I tried Human Torch, but either I got the offsets wrong or I don't know how to handle the facial model because it came out like crud.
Ideas?
Another option for a third Pyro skin would be his "pants and jacket" look from the movies. Again, with the right model that might be fairly simple. I'd like four skins (besides the Gladiator one) to include in teh next Pyro upgrade. Thanks.
how about quicksilver

Hmm, I think this is the best base we can get. Other skins tend to have too many "ornaments" on their body...
You know, you're probably right. Why didn't I think of that? His chest is asymetrical, so the logo and fire should work. Cool! Now I have my project for this evening :)
Not sure if anyone noticed before, but the Doom Iron Man model looks nearly identical the MK IV Iron Man suit. So it'd make a great reskin for the MK IV if anyone wants that particular suit.

Being somewhat experienced with editing that skin, as well as trying to make yellow areas, I can say that it's going to be incredibly difficult. He has so many different shades and zigzags, and yellow is so difficult to pull off from a dark colour, that I've never managed to get it looking good :(
i think it looks good, i only have microsoft paint so all my skins look colored over.

Thanks for the Silver Centurion armor!!! :)
I'm not too sure, but something like this might work?
I'm still having trouble with the details, but kinda kept the muscle definition and disguised the zigzagging. Now, the Skinner crashes when I try to apply a skin, so Cates, if you think this is enough, please apply it on your side. My PC hates nba2k's programs, apparently.
Wow, that's great work, boreman! The yellow is a little dark for me, but good job keeping the textures. I may be able to use my program now to lighten it up.
Now for the hard work--adding the fire details and making them look sexy. When the overall skin sucked, it didn't really matter that much. Now that the skin could be cool . . .
Thanks much! *runs off for more Pyro-technical work*
EDIT: Just ported the skin into the game and it looks cool. Now for the touch-up work.
Nice work Boreman

Anyone want to take this on, or offer suggestions for a base skin?
a helmetless Stryfe?
Sunfire actually.

I think aerophex meant a helmetless Stryfe as base for armored Shiro.
That might work, or perhps one of XML2 Prelates or Infinites (don't have the pics at hand, I'm just trying to remember armored secondaries to paint over).
Cates, I think "Clay Guardian" is pretty close:
It has the hair style, Asian face, armor pieces here and there...
:highfive: Teamwork!
Thanks to boreman's edit of the quicksilver base skin, we now have what I think is a pretty sweet Freedom Force Pyro skin. A MAJOR improvement over the painted job I did in the latest Pyro release.

Well guys, I think I've officially become a Marvel modder. I've successfully gotten the tools to work and have created my first test skin. Minor edits really, but just trying things out. This is an
Iron Man Chrome skin; a metallic coloured suit with added lights. Iron Man fans can imagine it's a prototype straight out of the lab that hasn't had it's paint job yet. Playing it actually makes his effects really stand out, so I'm enjoying it at the moment. If anyone is interested, just say so and I'll post the igb once I get home. Here's a preview though...

Certainly Teancum, by all means add it to the XML2 Booster Pack.

so check it out. I have some other ideas that I'm going to get on
now as well. So more soon.

Note that each step is successive; screwing up one step means the rest might be screwed as well.
1. You would need to find a base skin that matches the shape of the skin you want to "make". (No appropiate base skins means you can't continue. :( )
2. Find the offsets of the mips in Texture Finder or from the "Offset Centrals" in this community.
3. Configure the CFG file in skinnerUI by inputting the file name, DXT format, offsets of the mips.
4. Load the base skin with skinnerUI and export a BMP file from the base skin.
5. Modify the BMP with any image-editting programs you have got. Save the BMP with a different name so you don't overwrite it in an accident.
6. Open the BMP you saved in last step with IrfanView, "color swap" from RGB ---> BGR and save with a new name.
7. Load the base skin with skinnerUI and import the modified BMP back into the base skin.
8. Your new custom skin still uses the base skin's file name. So, rename it and place it at a location that children can't reach. :D
9. To use your new custom skin, make a copy of your custom skin and rename it with the file name of the skin you want to replace. Place your custom skin in the actors folder and overwrite that skin you want to replace.

Place your custom skin in the actors folder and overwrite that skin you want to replace.
can you show me the instructions with pics,i mean you show me an example with one of the skins i showed to you and the show me with the pics how do you do it please
My small notes on Quicksilver:
1) I prefer Original Quicksilver with dark green speedo, rather than yellow-green. Can you change that?
2) There is a fairly prominent black line running down the center of his back.
3) The hands are rather oven-mitt like. Any way you can re-instate finger-looking lines?
Otherwise, awesome, dude.
Very nice Quicksilver skins. ::yoink:: Two thumbs up!
Really, awesome. With these two, the XML2 Modern and Ultimate (in the quadmod, I think), we already have the complete 4 skins set.
If we could only have mannequins for Pietro and Pyro... I was working on a list of replacements from multiple mods, and in the end I would end with only 13 mannequins of 27 slots, the rest will turn blanks.
(I know the Avengers Mod had its own 4 versions, but for me they always had something weird with the hair and the face)

Updated Quicksilver Classic and Original skins. Fixes some of the issues described above: no more oven mitts, black line on back, and Original now has dark green speedo.
Sweet. Thanks.
OK, another cry for help. This time, it's Sunfire's fourth skin.

I've managed to paste an actual Shiro face onto this model and it looks pretty good in game. However, I CANNOT get the arm/leg bands to line up, nor could I position the chest shield where I thought looked good. And I am out of patience with it. So, here's the BMP with the Sunfire face on the quicksilvermodern body. If anyone wants to take up this task, you'll receive tremendous accolades for completing another character's skin set.

A couple of notes:
-the chest shield should go on the right side of his chest in the BMP so it will show up on the left side in-game
-wrist and ankle bands are easily done by coloring in those circles on the left side of the BMP.
For your convenience, the cfg line for the quicksilvermodern skin is:
quicksilvermodern.IGB,-DXT3,256,256,59199,128,128,124735,64,64,32679,32,32,36775,16,16,28903.
If this gets completed, you can stick a fork in him 'cause he'll be DONE.
How does this look?

Right now I still have to make the arm stripes thinner, because they look like elbow pads from behind. And I have yet to figure out how to connect the rays from the chest to the back (left them as little reference triangles) and identify where the shoulder pads come from in the BMP.
Rock on, boreman! He looks pretty much done! The chest design is leaps and bounds better than what I had. BTW, I had the same problem with the arm bands going over the elbow from the rear perspective.
I think the shoulders will come almost solely from the arm pieces.
Are you sure the chest bands connect around the back? I think it would look fine to have them end on the front. He'll still have some coloration on the back with the arm and leg bands and the belt.
Here.

I messed up a little with the last importing, so still no complete IGB for now, sorry. I leave the shoulder and chest details up to you.
EDIT: Does this mean that we already have a 100% Sunfire, or are we waiting till the armored/samurai skin comes up?
Well, without a new mesh for the armored skin, it ain't gonna happen. So this will be the fourth skin. (We'll do some renaming of the skins to make it work.)
This'll be great. Nice to have a maskless Shiro even if it isn't the armored skin.
Sunfire, Modern?

I think it looks cool in game. Others may amend as they see fit, but it works for me. It'll be included in a Sunfire update tomorrow.
Hey, I repainted Johnny's mannequin with Modern Shiro. This is what it looks like.

What do you think?
EDIT: Haven't tried with he other skins because of the shape of Torch's head.
Hey, nice job. Blizz did a repainting of that manny that looks cool too. That's a cool skill. I'd love to see some more mannequins if you've got the initiative.
Where'd that Cyke manny come from?
i don't recall well, because i remix all the files in new rar files for easy installation, but it may be in darkmythology's cyclops mod or here, in tommyboy's mesh/skin release thread:
http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=39.msg369#msg369 (http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=39.msg369#msg369)
I'm still investigating the pros and cons, but will try some mannequins because it's less a code-thing and more a paint-thing, so it's doable for me.
It's tommy's. I released it with the XML2 style Cyc (who has been abandoned due to DLC, but still exists in the Converted chars thread)
