i know there are at least 2 really good marvel or just x-men encyclopedias but i can't find them when i do a search. does anybody know what sites i'm talking about? they have really detailed info on almost every character
Well, there's http://www.marveldirectory.com/ and http://www.marvel.com/universe/ and http://www.marveldatabase.com/ for the marvel universe, and http://www.uncannyxmen.net/db/characters/ which has every damned mutant under the sun (multiple suns actually, they've even got every mutant from every alternate universe's sun too).
I like the marveldirectory.com, pretty detailed on each character they have, though they are missing a few. MoonKnight for one.

A favorite site of mine is The Appendix to the Handbook of the Marvel Universe. It has some fairly in depth character on pretty well every minor character that has ever appeared in a marvel comic. Probably not what your looking for but the amount of stuff on this site is staggering and very detailed.

Marvel DataBase or the Marvel Universe on Marvel.com is quite effective.
