Prntscreen key works with such stuff.
i believe saving it as a jpeg works too, but i can't remember fo show.
I have been trying the "PrintScrn" key without success. I'm skeptical that it's capturing anything because the screen doesn't pause like it does when I press F11. I've tried pressing "Ctrl-PrintScrn" and "Alt-PrintScrn", but those combinations haven't worked either. From what I read elsewhere, "PrintScrn" is supposed to save the picture to an internal clipboard that you can't access. When I hit "Ctrl-V" to place the picture that I have supposedly captured using the "PrintScrn" key, nothing appears in my photoshop program or anywhere else I try to place it.
I've also tried to use a Print Screen program I have from Gadwin Systems, but no success there either.
More suggestions? I am hoping to take these screencaps eventually.
The Pinrtscreen key can be used without CTRL or ALT.
Start a new document in photoshop. You'll see that the new document has the size of your game's resolution. Then just paste it.
hmm...on my browser something has gone terribly wrong with the sabertooth movie and juggs movie pics. they're blurry? is anyone else seeing this?

that is possible, but strange. did you at least try saving the image as a jpeg or tiff?

There's no image being saved or captured anywhere for me to be able to save in any format whatsoever (or so it seems).
no, the F11 picture. try saving it as jpeg, png (if using photoshop), or tiff.

i was wondering about skins for here. if members aren't active, can we still add their skins, even though the polite thing to do is to ask them. for example mat710 was last active in october, and has left us now way of contacting him, but it's not like anybody's taking credit for their work... just wondering...
Oh, yes, the F11 pic! I was trying to get a good picture without the white figures around Ghost Rider's head and thought that there would be another way that could capture a "clean" Ghost Rider. If nothing else works, I'll either leave him out or try to edit the picture. I think it won't look good cropped.
Regarding posting skins here, I honestly haven't asked anyone's permission. Somewhere in the forum I offered to organize the newer skins and BLaw said to go for it.
Some artists have contacted me once they have seen their work here and have said thanks for including their work. Others have contacted me and asked me to feel free to add their work if I had not already done so.
I will be glad to remove anyone's skins if the artist is opposed to such inclusion and contacts me. I'm just trying to make things a little more user friendly. :)

For screens that look like that what i do i just open them with microsoft paint, hit save and exit. always fixes this issue and the picture looks like it should. i just did this with the picture you posted and now the boxes are gone.
about the inactive skinners, the way i see it they made those skins for us to use so i dont see why the would have a problem if we used them. as long as we are not altering their work i doubt they would protest.
edit: btw great job and thanks for doing this, i like being able to see a lot of the skins that have been made all in one area.

You got me! I'm surprised (and glad) someone caught that so quickly. I had ALOT of trouble identifying Spider-Man/Carnage/Scarlet Spider/Ben Reilly skins and which to put where. [For example, I didn't know if the "Noir" skin was technically for Spider-Man or for Scarlet Spider. There were conflicting references.] It was late last night when I was working on it and I just said to myself that I'll wait until tomorrow. (I knew there were some errors.) Now, after over three hours, I think I've got the spidey stuff categorized properly.
Let me know if anything is incorrect.

cables not anorexic, he just uses a slim model, because that's the only asymmetrical one, which is useful for cable. now that we have some meshers back, maybe someone could make cable skins with anatomical references similar to a rhinoceros, but thats for a different thread.
there is no mephisto mod (or a black cat, uatu or weapon Ω mods on that note) there was one in progress a while ago though. i think mephisto and uatu were originaly made to replace npc skins.

i personaly found that "skind" of lower quality than has come to be the standard for skins. i will not actively pursue it, but if you sent me a persuasive essay and the file i might consider it.
joking about the essay, but i will take it into thought if i have access to the skin (it's just a little helpful).

I agree with whiteking that it's a good idea to include skins that don't have mods. That way, maybe some kind soul will eventually give them a good home in a mod of their own! In addition to Warpath, the skins of Match, Mantis and Moondragon are in the works.

it's good that we're taking in "orphan" skins, because there are a lot of cool ones out there that need attention.

Interesting... I was just working on BLaw's Spider-Woman skins last night. However, I couldn't get the .rar file to open. It supposedly contains 4 skins for her. I'm going to download it again now and see if it will work.

Well, to explain why I still think it's possible:
MUA2 has passives in their talent list, like XML2 has.
MUA1 has costumes passives, that's clear.
MUA1 also has the SKINFILTER. Which I could probably use to set 3 passives to NULL for the costumes which already have passives so they are only being used by the 5th and 6th costumes.
One question. The House of M skin for Mystique is a PS2 or MUA?

OK, this is a great start! Sounds like we will be able to recover the skins. Do you all want these reposted given the recent developments with the Russian forum and how they are not crediting those who make mods and skins? I'm thinking we should go ahead and post them given that membership and number of posts are going to be monitored very closely now.
If we are going to pursue the posting of these skins, they will need to be identified appropriately and sent to me. What does everyone think?

Guys i just checked and it turned out that I have every X-Man skin except for a few, I just dont have most of the huds.
oh, ultimate human iceman and x-men iceman can be found inside the heart of ice booster, with hud.
also, since blizz was the one who hosted the old files he probably has all the rest that's missing, perhaps we should try contacting him. cause there are still some missing and the xml, xml2 ones are in those links nodoubt provided but the huds aren't.
Just tried to download the cyclops skins and there was no file.
that's cause blaw (mr law) deleted his files to prevent thieving. you may be able to get him by private messaging him.

Thanks! I appreciate all those things that people catch that might be wrong. I was really tired last night when I was working on Cyclops and meant to change that Revamped AOA Cyclops to something else, but didn't make it that far.
I've got to check out what you said about the Spider-man Black Suit. There are so many Spider-man and Cyclops skins (and I don't have nearly all of them posted). Some of the descriptions/names that are given to the skins aren't unique enough for me to distinguish what is what. Gonna go look at this Spidey problem now.

I think the Ultimate Weapon X (209 kb) was posted quite awhile before the Ultimate Revamp (3.28 mb). They are obviously different files, but evidently the skins are very close to being the same. ultimate revamp is different than ultimate weapon x. ultimate revamp is deep blue and ultimate weapon x is black and ultimate revamp should have more gold stuff on the skin. they're closeish, but not that much.

That was a BIG oversight on my part. I even saw that those two pics were the same the minute I originally posted them but thought they were supposed to be so similar. Duh! Anyway, it's fixed now. I don't see the deep blue in the skin that you were referring to, but I think my computer monitor may be the reason.

guys, I don't know what would you all prefer but, the huds for most of these skins exist. would you like to add the huds to the links or make a new thread just for huds?
i personally think that a "big hud catalogue" would be cool. but that's just me.
i would say maybe package them together, its easier than downloading the skin and then going to another thread to download the hud. but if you dont want to reupload everything then maybe add a link to the hud at the bottom of the skin
It's a good thought to organize the huds. However, I'm having enough trouble just matching up skins to their official skin names, (and sometimes deciphering what that official name really is), and making sure I credit the correct artists who made them, as well as linking valid download files. Plus, some of the downloads no longer work due to people changing the files and (rightly so) protecting their work with passwords.
I don't pay alot of attention to the huds unless the skin is really different. I do like things to be organized and I think it would ideal to have the huds available with/next to the skin. However, I also really like the idea of a "Big Hud Catolog" where people can choose the coolest huds for their respective games, especially since so many skins do not have accompanying huds. For now, I want to get as many skins uploaded as possible before adding huds here.
fox, do you need help? if you want to I could upload the ones I have with their huds included in the link and take screenshots. I know the names to them. and post here the links to all the huds I find avaliable for the skins already posted.

I totally agree. I don't use any of his default skins. I use Unlimited, BLaw's Ben Reilly and Spider-Carnage and deedoo's black symbiote. I don't really like Spidey's classic costume. reilly's was much better. I use it as skin 01 and replaced the manny too. all's great now :D

Use print screen and then open any graphics program you use (I just use MSPaint quick to open) and just ctrl-v/paste it there.
I'd recommend adding aventureiromax's skins to the thread. There are many great skins like Jean's Marvel Girl, the Original X-Men's First Class, many of the Young/New X-Men, and variants of many official characters.
i've been working on some of them, but have been too busy lately to get the most recent ones. i'll get them eventually though.
If I have time I may help out with this too.
I thought Norrin Radd was the one made Gambit skin. If he was. It is Norrin's skins.

spiderman definitely. venom has a scale factor and the skin would look oversized on him

I mentioned in several posts above that I posted a link that has many skins collected from Xlehnsherr and one of those skins is X-Force. It has packages and hud as well.

Well, yes, I guess you could say I am busy with some "stuff." The hard drive I had with ALL my mod downloads, skins, mannequins, boosters, etc., just quit working completely with no sign that it was going to die. Something like this has never happened to me before, so, unfortunately, I hadn't backed up anything at all. Live and learn (the hard way, I guess).

yeah, i've had that happen before. the tech guys tell me it's a miracle hard drives work at all, cuz its a disk spinning in a magnet, and you generally can only get 5 years max out of one. but that's just what the tech guys said :P.

do you have a laptop. If so then you'll probably have a fn button on your keyboard if desktop then I don't think you'll have one. Also make sure you hit ctrl (+) v or right click and hit paste in order to get the image after doing the printscreen thing. Also when I paste the pic usually do it in a program like micrsoftword or an art program like paint or SAI. Printscreen is basically a way to copy your whole screen, so in turn you'll have to paste the picture.

Well, all the skins that are listed as "xxxx" as their character number (including the two you mentioned) presently have no mods. However, you can use those skins with virtually any other character. Just change the "xxxx" to the character's skin number that you want to replace. Remember to back up the original skin in case you want to use it again. Also, the "new character" will still have the same powers as the character whose skin you replaced.

Also, one more thing, when it says RESERVED after all the skins, what exactly does that mean? Are there more skins there which are not available or something? Or is it that you need to be a higher rank (eg Admin) to see them? Thanks

That's a good question. The "RESERVED" post is just some saved space as the number of skins grows and we have to expand to the next post down.
Ah right, yeah it's gone up in the last few days, I think on Monday it was around 290 skins, now its 307 :D Good work everyone! I hope to start modding soon. I have skinned before (in a different game) from what I have seen it looks similar, where you have a 'plan' of the skin and just edit it using Gimp etc. I want to make a :scorpion: skin similar to the other ones you mentioned with "xxxx" so people can 'play' as him so to speak.

I'm not a skinner, but I think the in game Scorpion skin can already be used on any other character skin -- just renumber it as before. If you want to make changes to the skin, then you might want to check the skinning tutorials.

That's his character animations, I think. Although you can use it to deduce his skin number. Since the file says 40_scorpion, his skin numbers are the 40xx ones, namely 4001.igb (which is probably Classic i.e. the Helicarrier one) and 4002.igb (the one from Asgard). :scorpion:

I think so -- I just checked the Hud folder and it has a 4001 and a 4002 file.
Ok I've done it! :scorpion: is in game! :D (I used Lizard as the character, because it seemed most appropriate due to the Lizard's Tail power) As I expected the tail would be all straight and have no movement, how do I fix that? Would I have to use his character anims (40_Scorpion)? And if so would that affect the mod and how would I go about installing it? Thanks.

These are just additional skins that you can substitute for a character. You must already have the character in the game if you want all the appropriate powers and animations.

Unfortunately the person who made it has long since gone and I can't get into contact with them - what's the policy on uploading this stuff so you guys can post it in your skin archive? She goes GREAT with the new Psylocke MU2 mod (replacing the Ultimate skin as I hate her ultimate appearance lol) but really works - as long as you put in the code to remove her elektra boltons - with ANY Psylocke skin :)

are you using whiteking's mod? cause whiteking has it in there already you just need to change the skin number in the herostat. there's further instructions in the readme i believe.
no I just downloaded the skin and replaced it with some of her I dont like : / and its on xml2 btw
I havent downloaded the Diamond one and havent changed that one so idk y it gets bugged O_O
The skins are not compatible with the current XML2 mod, because they are not hex-edited, so everytime you use the diamond form she does not change back or change into something else (like a robot on my last test lol).
But this will be fixed with my upcoming mod.

I compiled this list quite a while ago. It was the list of skins that were lost when the server for this site was changed. I posted the list in hopes that we could recover them somewhere, but most have not been found yet.

How well I can relate. I had a hard drive crash last year and still haven't been able to recover all my MUA mods, skins, etc.

I use the F11 key and then resize the pictures with Photoshop.

My printscreen key doesn't work. So, I use F11 to take a picture while in the game. Later, I load that picture into Photoshop, resize it in that program, and then post the result here. I'm getting ready to do it for your latest releases. :)

No it hasn't. It's a lot of work and time to keep this thread up so it occasionally gets a little bit behind...as such most of my skins aren't in here at all, no matter how long ago they were released :p

The skins are stored in the "actors" folder. First, check here for which skin you want to replace:

Let's say you want to replace Spider-Man's first skin with a new one. Rename 0901.igb to something else (like 0901x.igb) in case you want to go back to it. Then you simply download the skin you want for Spider-Man, put the file into the actors folder, and rename it to 0901.igb.

Just put the new skin in the actors folder (.../Program Files/Activision/Marvel Ultimate Alliance/actors), rename it to a skin number you want to replace, and make sure you've backup the old skin, and overwrite it ;)
For packages, decompile it with XMLBCui, and edit it, save, and then compile it with XMLBCui, make sure the output's file format is .pkgb, not .xmlb. Move the file you've compiled to packages/generated/characters folder (.../Program Files/Activision/Marvel Ultimate Alliance/packages/generated/characters) ;)

Thanks, that was really helpful. I also have another problem adding new skins to heroes. The 5th and 6th skin appears but with no HUD and no talents and powers at all.

I'm going to add to that: Make sure to check the numbers of all characters to avoid problems. For example, if you download War Machine, and then later a new skin for him, you'll see his number is 18 - the same as Galactus. Don't make the mistake of thinking that 1801 is War Machine - it isn't. An easy way to find out who's who is to check the herostat of the hero whose skin you just downloaded. Example: If you just got a skin for Crystal, check her herostat - you'll see her number is 64, and you'll see her costume numbers as well.
Though for the record, there are at least two or three separate tutorials on how to add skins. They are available in the "knowledge base" section of the forum.

Please someone help me i installed a 5th skin for the punisher and hulk it shows up but when i go to change it then the game stops and says mua has caused a problem and shuts down .
You need to add additional character packages and edit their herostat, I believe there's a tut somewhere around the forum, I'll try searching for it, if I cant find it, ill make one

Outsider in 3ds max you can include multiple arms in a model, but they can not be animated, because the biped has by default this animation. I just do not have much practice in making this model, but I think Julio Cabral would have much success at it.

Hi, I was hoping to download the chrome Ironman skin, but the link doesn't seem to work. Is there any chance of that file being backed up somewhere?
I haven't downloaded many on here but I have checked to see if the links work even if you can't see the pics and many appear to. Could this thread perhaps be stickied?
No, its incredibly out-of-date and a lot of download links no longer work (which is why it was removed as a sticky thread in the first place). You'd be better off starting an entirely new thread than attempt to salvage this one.

It was for a while back in the day, but with all the pictures gone (and half the links as well), it's not very valuable as a thread anymore

The sheer number of skins makes this nearly impossible. All of the cross-compatible skins are in their own place, so that's easy to find, and MUA and XML2 specific skins can be found in their mod release boards.
You could attempt to make a new catalog, but there are likely thousands of skins on the forums, so it would be a massive task, not to mention how difficult it would be to organize such a thing
