He sent me a message, allow me to display it for you:
"Hello, friend. There are viruses' activities from your computer in last few days. Strongly recommend you to check your computer. You can find a report about your computer's security and solve every problem with it here: http://www.virus-total.net/detected/Shauny7488
Thank you. Forum member."
For those that are internet ignorants, He started the message with "Hello, friend". And ended it with "Forum member". So it's pretty obvious that this guy is a bot (a computer which sends the same message to various forums and members). A person would have typed the persons' username they were sending it to and/or their own username at the end. So don't click the link, chances are it's a virus, if not, it's probably a keylogger, which is worse.
Happy net surfing kids! :D
Thanks for the advice.
Looks like the forums need another upgrade. These are spambots that are getting in and PMing you all. I'll try to let THX know. In the meantime I'll probably close new user registration for awhile.
I think they're not only going for PM's. Since a week ago I'm getting random messenger contacts, all having this as their e-mail format:
<Name><Surname><4numbers>@hotmail.com
And the only sites I have been visiting the last couple of MONTHS are:
- MarvelMods
- Hyves
- Hotmail
- Facebook
- School's e-mail page
And it has been so ever since I received a PM of some guy, which I deleted shortly after reading only the text (it had url's in it so I banned him too, since he was spreading it through the forum aswell).
All members have to be approved by me before joining now. Hopefully that'll help. If you have friends you know are joining up, send me a PM to let me know so I can be sure not to reject them.
wow, that's extreme. I understand it has become necessary, but it's a shame.
Yah. But will you receive the registrations in your mailbox TC? Or does it really have to be per PM?

Sounds good to me, those spambots seem to be popping up again and they are getting sneakier. I dont want forumers who dont know any better to get tricked into clicking those links.
