Title: DC : New 52
Post by: Polygone on October 14, 2012, 12:20PM
Hi all :)

Anyone following DC? What did you guys think about the reboot?

I personally love it, and hate it, what they did with Joker...I hate it because its gross, but I love it cause its so....Jokerish :P, Poor Harley :/

I'm the same old pessimistic and negative like before, so I have to say: I like few parts and I dislike other ones :D I do miss Wally West though. Last time I checked, he was just...nowhere. He is my favourite Flash.

Batman and Robin I like so far. I dislike the Nightwing costume change though; I preferred the blue.

5 points for Hyperman. Or at least one like. Grayson is one of my favourites (well, no...he is THE favourite for me in DC next to Wally West Flash, Bane and Deathstroke) and I'm glad he is alive and well, but I don't like his new costume. For me, the black and blue one is iconic. For me, this is like if Batman's costume would be black and white. For me, this is like if Superman would wear...I dunno...green and yellow

Why, thank you. Yeah, I like Grayson, though I think my favorite Robin is Damian Wayne.

Well, I'm not a Robin fan myself. If Grayson wouldn't be Nightwing, my level of fanatism would be lower

The only Robin I truly like in the role is Damian, as he's like a mixture of a young assassin version of Bruce Wayne and Artemis Fowl (II).

Tim Drake is best on his own, as he's a great detective.

Jason Todd... well you know, he's not the kindest person...

Dick Grayson is just good in general.

But I don't like the fact, that most people disrespect the character Robin. Why the hate? I don't know, but many people just dislike the whole Robin concept, even though, Robin is just the best sidekick type of a character ever in my eyes :D

I guess because Batman is Batman, and Batman with a sidekick, well I've gotten used to it, but i can imagine a hardcore bat fan hating Robin

But that's the strange part. Batman had a Robin for many decades now :D Although, yeah, the title was given to many people now, but it's strange :D
Title: Re: DC : New 52

I do think that for many years, the whole Batman concept was turned into something ridiculous with Robin; remember around the time the blue pretty much completely replaced the black? Back then, they wanted him to be more "happy/kid-friendly" so they gave him Robin and turned the whole thing into a bad comedy. It's the thing the Adam West/Burt Ward series was based on.

Now, though, he's the way he needs to be. A dark, mostly serious detective and a son who is very much like a hardcore version of himself.

I totally wanna start reading this series. Haven't gotten around to it yet, but I've heard some very weird and gruesome things went on.

Yep. Like Harley actually having that which we cannot speak of with Deadshot. And I found that out when I was googling for harley pictures -_-

Haha, well, after that happening which we cannot speak of, she went back to being 100% insane, so that makes up for her cheating on J...I guess :P

If ya didn't know yet : (SPOILER) She jammed Jokers head on Deadshots mask and began to talk like him like he was Joker, after that Deadshot shot her, and Harley (being an ionic comic book character) survived it :P

Me me me me me me xD

Its pretty much the only new 52 I follow, I really have zero intrest in whoever is Superman's soon-to-be-wife atm

I love Joker, he's so much more...Serious? xD, he's still a psycho, but just much more..Psycho-ish
Also props to them for giving Harley's mask back

I've read a couple of the books, I'm kinda on the fence about some things (Leatherface Joker for example) but so far it's been fun.
I honestly cannot wait to see what happens when Red Hood and Joker meet face to cut-off face (see what I did there?), I'm looking forward to that moreso than Batman vs. Joker

Well, maybe it's just me, but I think they might have went a bit too far with this whole cut-off Joker face thing. I mean, okay, it's maniacal enough for the Joker, it's not even that surprising, but it's a bit disturbing. On the other hand, it's cool to see, that the Joker is back in business again and he is doing terrible....horrible things to the heroes. He is one of the best villians, you know :D

I completely agree, Joker is one of (if not THE) most iconic villains of all time, be it comics or any other medium. But like you the cut-off face is a bit much, I wouldn't have minded if they cut his face so it looks like he has a permanent smile (Yes it's a bit toe Heath Ledger, but to me it's better than leatherface)

I think they're trying to make him look more real-ish, he's a complete psyco, unpredictable, and does it all for **** and giggles, Not trying to justify DC, but thats my opinion :P

You're probably right, I can't help but look at his and Harley's New 52 redesigns and roll my eyes (give me the Arkham-verse designs any day.)

I thought in Harley's case, the New 52 design resembled the Arkhamverse design?

Not really, while the two don't wear the full body harlequin outfit anymore and both show a little more skin, I find the Arkham Harley to be vastly superior to 52 Harley.
I mean look at em!

Agreed, Both Asylum's design and city's design look beter,  New 52 Harley is a bit ..well, you know what, However, Arkhamverse Harley has a tattoo, which I'm not a huge fan of aswell, cause I really can't see Harley getting tattoos, but whatevs I guess

Speaking of Arkham anyway, anyone excited for the sequel? Its not announced yet, but Rocksteady left waay to many hints in City to not make a sequel

I've heard it's a prequel to the arkham series. Where batman first meets the Joker and it'll include Justice League heroes ! But I don't know, I just googled it.

But yah throughout Arkham City there was the Hush, Scarecrow is returning, oh an Harley's pregnancy was a false you would understand in Harley Quinn's Revenge. Many possible things for a sequel !

I look at the tattoos like this, she's deeply devoted and obsessed with Mr. J right? And those tattoos are simply an extension of that (like the people that get a boyfriend or girlfriend's name or picture tattooed on their body, same basic principle)

And yes, I eagerly await a new Arkham game, be it prequel or sequel. Only thing that quenches my Arkham thirst are the Arkham Unhinged comics.

There should be a sequel. I've never liked prequels.

Prequels are a tricky business because they can go either way, they could be great and add more to an already great story. Or they they can be terrible and ruin the story that it's based on.

I just think they're fairly pointless. It makes more sense to see things in order. If you already know how it all ends, it just doesn't seem to have any real point.

I don't want an Arkham prequel myself, due to the fact, that Joker wouldn't have Mark Hamill as his voice, and it wouldn't be the same for me :D

You're right, but I don't mind the ride if they do it right (For example: I know how Tron Uprising will end, but it's an excellent story)

Raven is costume is just.. Lets just say I hope they change it soon. They did say that Trigon took over her or something like that so that costume could just be out for a bit I hope.
