MARVEL  MODS  PRESENTS:  THE  ROSTER  HACKS

Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of the entire Marvel Mods community, I present to you "The Holy F**kin' Grail" that was many years in the making -- the Roster Hacks. Remember that time we all thought that having 27 characters was "hard-coded" and could not change? We sure kicked that theory's ass. Through years of research, testing, and coding work, we have made it possible to have as many as 50 playable characters on the roster! Though this hack was the work of Nikita488, UltraMegaMagnus and myself, it was the brainchild of many minds here in this forum. This is a true paradigm shift in the way that MUA will be played from now on. Download any of these awesome hacks and see for yourself. And, feel free to give props, criticism, or feedback.

PREREQUISITE:
Before using any roster hack, you MUST first have the latest OCP installed in your game. Go here: https://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,11037.0.html. Please note that all of these Roster Hacks are only compatible with the original 2006 port of MUA. It will not work on the "remastered" 2016 Steam version.

SPECIAL NOTE:
When downloading a roster hack, some antivirus software may say there's a trojan, virus, malware, or some unsafe file in it. We can assure you that all of the files are completely safe. We have many users who use these and can confirm that. So beforehand, add your entire MUA folder to the exclusions list of your antivirus software such as Windows Defender, Norton, McAfee, etc. Also, the roster hacks will not work with Linux.


MINOR GLITCHES:
-Some characters will have all of their outfits locked, including the one they are wearing. Fortunately, the "Unlock All Costumes" cheat code will fix that.
-When not using all official characters, the last two or three characters may not have a blue circle on their first power. The "Unlock All Powers" cheat code will fix that.
-All spots must be filled on a roster. Otherwise, game saves won't work.

OTHER NOTES:
-Please don't just blindly install it. Read the instructions and notes first.
-For the 36 and 50 Roster Hacks, the green markers under the characters have been removed to keep things more realistic-looking. If you want to keep them, however, download this 7z package: https://www.mediafire.com/?e0rmyjl4puvl04w
-Do not use cheat tools such as unl-muatrn.exe. Also, delete or rename the game save folder, under Documents\Activision\Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and create new "settings.dat" file, as leaving an old "settings.dat" file can cause minor issues.

There are three types of roster hacks. Choose the one that best suits what you want.






50  ROSTER  HACK



The 50 Roster Hack offers the most, with the ability to have 50 characters playable on your game's roster, as well as modder-friendly features. It also comes with the 36 Roster Hack, and batch files so you can switch between the 50 and 36 Roster Hacks at any time, so essentially you have both. However, having 50 characters (depending on your chosen mods) can cause some issues in the game, including when combined with the new Expanded Game (EXG).

FEATURES (v2.5):
-50 heroes are now playable, extending the roster to almost twice the vanilla roster. All can level up and use items with no problems. Saving data is not a problem either, as the game's memory has been increased. (NOTE: All 50 spots must be filled for game saves to work.)
-Can now switch effortlessly between 36R and 50R, just in case you want less characters for a certain roster. (You do not need to use the switch batch file if you don't plan to shorten your roster.)
-New awesome-looking character select stage with double platforms.
-Adds an extraction point to first level.
-All characters and extraction points unlocked. Extraction points now coincide with the new EXG.
-New pictures for new extraction points, including better pics for Stark Tower and Castle Doom.
-All extraction points can now extract to other locations. (Previously, some SHIELD points couldn't extract elsewhere.) Only the "Command Deck" point cannot be extracted to, but can be extracted from.
-Green markers under characters are now gone.
-Hard difficulty unlocked.
-The MyTeam feature is unlocked at the start of the game.
-New accurately-sized mannequins of Luke Cage and the Thing.
-Pre-made newbie-friendly herostat with all official characters in alphabetical order.
-Optional Gold Edition stage with original game mannequins & herostat (36R ONLY).
-Added optional Gold Edition team stage with original mannequins & altered herostat. (For the 36 Roster Hack only.)

36  ROSTER  HACK



The 36 Roster Hack offers the ability to have 36 characters playable on your game's roster -- which is more than 27, as well as modder-friendly features. It is less than 50 characters, but because less characters are being loaded, the game is still stable and have relatively no issues, even when combined with the new Expanded Game (EXG).

FEATURES (v3.0):
-36 heroes are now playable, extending the roster by 9. All can level up and use items with no problems. Saving data is not a problem either, as the game's memory has been increased. (NOTE: All 36 spots must be filled for game saves to work.)
-New awesome-looking character select stage with double platforms. Menulocations #23 and #42 are no longer facing awkward directions.
-Adds an extraction point to first level.
-All characters and extraction points unlocked. Extraction points coincide with the new EXG.
-New pictures for new extraction points, including better pics for Stark Tower and Castle Doom.
-All extraction points can now extract to other locations. (Previously, some SHIELD points couldn't extract elsewhere.) Only the "Command Deck" point cannot be extracted to, but can be extracted from.
-Green markers under characters are now gone.
-Hard difficulty unlocked.
-The MyTeam feature is available at the start of the game.

VITAL  ROSTER  HACK



The Vital Roster Hack offers the ability to have 50 or 36 characters playable on your game's roster but without all the extra stuff. It's a simplified roster hack that features everything you need, and nothing you don't.

FEATURES (v1.0):
-Up to 36 or 50 heroes are now playable, extending the roster to almost twice the vanilla roster. All can level up and use items with no problems. Saving data is not a problem either, as the game's memory has been increased.
-Can now switch effortlessly between 36R and 50R via batch files, just in case you want less for a certain roster. (50 is the default.)
-New awesome-looking character select stage with double platforms.

I reiterate to everyone -- if you're having problems or have questions, please do not post them here. I don't want anyone thinking that the 50R or 36R doesn't work, when it's been tested by multiple people (myself included) and has been confirmed to work. Not to sound rude, but if it's not working for you, then you've done something incorrectly.

That's some Amazing, Spectacular, Uncanny, Incredible work you've done there guys!

I was wondering - does this memory increase also increase the limit on things like simulator missions (game = 34 if I'm not mistaken) and reviewable loadscreens (game limit = 64)?

That's a good question. I have not tested the simulator missions, but I believe that the memory on characters have increased, so the sim missions shouldn't be a problem. I don't think it increased the number of loading screens that can be reviewed though -- that is likely a separate limit. Much like the limit I found during 50R testing that the game can only have 31 extraction points on the Extract menu. Any more will not appear at all.

I just wanted to say thank you so much to all of you who mod and helped this happen! I am going through a rough patch with my boyfriend who has borderline personality disorder and this has been a life saver! It has been a fantastic time the last week playing around with this to help distract myself until he is healthier to continue our relationship. Sorry for the long whinded post but once again thank you all for creating all these mods!

Quick tip for anyone who might be having trouble:

If anyone has any trouble with a few characters' moves/powers not responding, even after applying the unlock all powers/costumes cheats, delete or rename the game save folder, under Documents\Activision\Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and create a new one.  It appears leaving an old settings.dat file can cause minor issues.

Forgive me for expressing belatedly, my gratitude and esteem to all the modders involved in this beautiful work. I downloaded and started to enjoy this wonderful mod but I didn't leave my gratitude here.

Was a fix ever found for the %NICKFURY% and missing hud glitch if you replace Nick Fury in the herostat?

I'm almost finished revamping my roster with the 50 Roster Hack, and this is pretty much the last glitch I've been unable to solve.

On my end, I removed
      talent {

      }

when replacing defaultman with Fury's entry, since it did count against the talents limit in herostat.

if you have a phone that can use google and online storage available then download the 50r their then move it to your online storage open the website on your pc and download it from there. i recommend google drive

I haven't run into any problems. He has to replace defaultman and you can't place any more entries after him though. And don't forget to set "playable" to false.

Hello how are you Hmm, I'm new to MUA mods, and well, I downloaded the hack of the 50 characters and it didn't work for me, I copy the folders, open the game and when entering the character selection, they don't even come out the cheat of all the characters, only the mannequins appear in black and when I select the game it stops working, any help on how to install it?   :spiderman:

Hello!
First of all, I wanted to thank all of the responsibles for this. Having the possibility of chosing from so many characters it´s simply awesome! So thank you all :,)

I followed the newbie´s installation (really handy btw) and it all seems to work out except for two things:
1) Psylocke. I read that this was a known bug and that it was fixed  but I think the link in the original post might be from an older version. So I can´t choose her, the game closes itself when try :c

2) Professor X. He is selectable but his hud portrait will be empty and without any special attack (even after using the cheatcode and erasing old saves).

Mapache Malvado: I used to have the same problem that you described when i installed the old version of OCP v2.0 ... (don't know why)

Then i try the new Official Character Pack v2.3 (OCP v2.3) and the problem was totally fixed.

Which version of OCP did you install?

Hey, thanks Alfred! I checked it up and it was the 2.0 version, it seems that I downloaded it by mistake.
After a clean installation, the 2.3 version and the 50 roster hack, all is working up pretty well.

Now time to figure out whom to choose as a team lol

Hi people. Is it possible to use this hack with another dinput8.dll? I noticed MUA has a problem with XInput controller mapping, so I have to use another program to fix it (XInputPlus). However, that app creates a dinput8.dll file, so I can't have both at the same time. Is there any workaround?

Are you playing the game via the delisted Steam release? Because that version won't work with mods. Only the original 2006 PC release.

I'm using the 2006 version. Mods work fine, but the button mapping is wrong. A is B, B is X, X is A, etc. I've read on internet the game fails to recognize some XInput devices, so it uses DirectInput mapping instead. There's a way to solve that by using an app, XInputPlus, but it requires creating a dinput8.dll file in the game folder. This hack also uses dinput8.dll, so I can't have both at the same time.

I don't know how the hack works, but have you tried replacing the dinput8.dll file to see what happens?

I think the dinput8.dll is only indirectly involved. The file from XInputPlus might include all necessary information for MUA and the ASI loader (which is what dinput8.dll in the 50RH is for).

Curious: Are you using an Xbox One (Wireless) controller? There is a fix for it, without the need to edit XInput or dinput libraries, but it's not perfect.
I found another XInput mod for the Xbox One controller that doesn't edit dinput8.dll, but I am not able to test it: https://github.com/araghon007/X1nput
If you are able to make XInputPlus (or X1nput) work correctly, please give me a message. I am interrested in a better fix for the X1 controller.

Thanks, but I couldn't make them work. I tried X1nput and it did nothing. Maybe I'm missing something. I also tried to use the XInputPlus dinput8.dll, but it makes the game crash at startup. When I use the 50 character hack dll, it works fine. I'm not using a real XBox controller. I'm using a generic controller and x360ce. It makes windows recognize a virtual XBox 360 controller, and it also hides the physical controller, using HidGuardian, so it should work fine in any game. However, this game doesn't seem to play nice with this virtual XBox 360 controller. I think I'll just create another x360ce config, specific for this game, remapping each physical button to the ones recognized by the game.

After messing with x360ce config for a while (nothing worked), I reset everything to default, and for some reason the game works fine now. I mean, every button does what it's supposed to. However, the on-screen button prompts are wrong, they seem to be based on a weird generic controller layout where X is A, A is B and B is X. But it's just a minor inconvenience, the game is playable, as long as I ignore the on-screen icons. I don't know if I changed anything that fixed the input problem, or it was working fine from the start and I was just confused.

This is a common issue with the xbox controllers that has something to do with the inputs being handled incorrectly. There's a fix in the OCP for these textures that puts the correct texture in the correct place so that the game will show the right buttons

Try to restore all default textures (original from 2006) in the "texs" folder MaxShadow. It might resolve the prompt buttons issue.
The prompt buttons are part of the keys texture...

Wow, I've been away for a while, enjoying the game, and coming back, and this is incredible!  Huge thanks to everyone that made this possible!

I do have a question, not about this mod, but in the photo, is there a public release of that Emma Frost Mannequin?  I tried looking through all the skins posts, but couldn't find it anywhere, but admittedly, there's a lot and I may have overlooked it.

Also, I'm sorry about asking about this here, but wasn't completely sure where else to ask about it.

I managed to get this to run on my Linux desktop without much hassle. For reference, I am using Proton-7.0-3 for this game. I just installed OCP and the roster hack as expected. However, before installing the roster hack, one of the files needs to be renamed so it gets loaded properly. In the unzipped roster hack, enter the ui folder then under the models folder, rename "m_team_stage.IGB" to "m_team_stage.igb" without the quotes.

For this game to launch with the roster hack, make sure that "WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%" is present in the launch options for this game under Steam, without the outer quotes. Hats off, I've stayed away from these because I like the app where I pick my characters each game.
What I really liked, LOVED as a matter of fact....I did not have to set my own mod for having the shield access point at beginning. So weird to see that in another mod..
That, and when game started, seeing all those characters on the screen made me giggle a little.

This is an awesome mod. I had a hard time figuring out which characters to play because there are so many :applause: . Question though. I noticed IronMan, The Punisher, and Iron Fist are missing, when I have seen them in other players screenshots and videos.
Were they left out on purpose?
Do they need to be swapped in by replacing characters already installed?
Or are they in there and I just have'nt figured out how to access them :lamer: ?

Those characters are modded characters and the OCP doesn't include them. The picture was mainly to show people that any 50 characters you want can be placed in the game is all, though I understand the confusion.

By editing the herostat.engb file included with the roster hack and replacing two playable characters with Iron Fist and Punisher, ensuring the assigned menulocation number previously used by two official characters you've decided, are the same for Iron Fist and Punisher when you add them. That's it.

MARVEL  MODS  PRESENTS:  THE  VITAL  ROSTER  HACK



By now, you're familiar with both the 36 & 50 Roster Hacks, but both feature a lot of extras that are modder-friendly. What if you don't want all the extra stuff? The Vital Roster Hack is a simplified version that features both the 36R & 50R. It contains everything you need, and nothing you don't.


SPECIAL NOTE: Please note that the Vital Roster Hack is only compatible with the original 2006 port of MUA. It will not work on the "remastered" 2016 Steam version. Unsure which version you got? Check the game folder -- if you see .bin files and the exe file date is 2016, then you've got the "remastered" version that is useless here. You can find a free, legal, and safe archived version of the game in the MUA1 Mod Installation Guide (https://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,10809.0.html).


PREREQUISITE:
Before using any roster hack, you MUST first have the latest Official Characters Pack (OCP) installed in your game. Go here: https://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,11037.0.html.

When downloading a roster hack, some antivirus software may say there's a trojan or some unsafe file in it. I can assure you that all of the files are completely safe. So beforehand, add your entire MUA folder to the exclusions list of your antivirus software such as Windows Defender, Norton, McAfee, etc. Also, the roster hacks will not work with Linux.







FEATURES:
-Up to 36 or 50 heroes are now playable, extending the roster to almost twice the vanilla roster. All can level up and use items with no problems. Saving data is not a problem either, as the game's memory has been increased.
-Can now switch effortlessly between 36R and 50R via batch files, just in case you want less for a certain roster. (50 is the default.)
-New awesome-looking character select stage with double platforms.

MINOR GLITCHES:
-Some characters will have all of their outfits locked, including the one they are wearing. Fortunately, the "Unlock All Costumes" cheat code will fix that.
-When not using all official characters, the last two or three characters may not have a blue circle on their first power. The "Unlock All Powers" cheat code will fix that.

OTHER NOTE:
-Please read the "Read It" file included BEFORE installing it. I cannot stress this enough. If you need help, ask us at our Discord server. Don't say there's something wrong with it -- you're just installing it incorrectly.
