XML1 Prototype Skin Pack v1.3

*Pics are included in the mod.

*Included are all the skins that are only found in the XML1 Prototype and aren't in the retail version of X-Men Legend 1. Many are from the game's cut post-apocalyptic Act 4, some are from cut playable characters, like Havok, Bishop, Marrow, and Angel, and some are from cut NPCs.

*Also included in the "Higher Quality Than Retail" folders are skins that have much higher quality textures in the Prototype instead of the 128x128 textures they have in the retail.


*Everything is sorted according to what the skin is, what NPCstat calls it (if anything), and what Alchemy 5 says the internal filepath and texture map is called (Ex: Mutant Police (Mind Variant). Alchemy says the texture's filepath is mutantpolice and the texture is a number followed by "_mind.")


*The skins in the 256x256 are in the retail version of XML1 but are in higher quality here. That doesn't mean these are all used in retail version, however. Some, like Multiple Man Act 4 aren't. It just means they are in the retail version's files and are in higher quality here.

*These skins are compatible with XML2.


*Also included are 34 skeletons that aren't in retail. Alchemy 5 would only open 4 of the Prototype skeletons for me (and 2 of them are included in XML1 Retail so only the 2 that aren't are included here), but opening them in a hex editor shows they do have the same type of things in them that the retail skeletons do., and they do work in the XML1 Prototype.

*Also included are the 3 skyboxes from the Prototype that aren't in XML2 (the other 4 skyboxes in the Prototype are in XML2). I don't know if they're in XML1 retail, but I figured they would be a good resource.


*Use these for whatever you like, just credit me, as it look a long time to sort and take pics of everything. Enjoy!

MUA1 Prototype Skins and Models Pack v1.2

This is a resource of all the skins, 3D heads, and models from the MUA1 Prototype.

The MUA1 Prototype contains cel-shaded versions of some of the MUA1 PS2 skins (MUA1 PS2 retail version isn't cel-shaded).
Some of these skins have different designs from the MUA1 PS2 skins, such as Ms. Marvel not having a mask and Captain America Ultimate having wings on his mask.
I have extracted and collected all the cel-shaded skins that are in the MUA1 Prototype.
I have done this because these are usable as-is in XML2 and might be as useful for someone else as they have been for me.

**This release contains the following:

*All the skins from the MUA1 Prototype. The ones that have XML2 character mods have had their filenames changed and have been hexedited so that they can be used with those mods. Human Torch's skin and 3D head are set to be his flame-on skin.

*All 17 of the MUA1 Prototype 3D heads that aren't in XML2, which includes 3 boss 3D heads. The ones that have XML2 character mods have had their filenames changed and have been hex edited so that they can be used with those mods.

*All the boltons, object models, and effects models, sorted by whether or not they're cel-shaded.

*I have also included in seperate folders the skins that are broken and/or unfinished, with notes as to what is wrong with them, as well as the only 2 skins that aren't cel-shaded (Spider-Man Classic, Baron Mordo, and Galactus). Spider-Man is hex edited. Baron Mordo and Galactus aren't because they don't have XML2 mods.

*Also, since most of MUA1 PS2's objects are packaged in a way that can't be extracted (and therefore can't be used), I've also included all the object models from the MUA1 Prototype that are in standalone files and therefore can be used in XML2 (unlike the MUA1 PC objects, which can't be).

*I haven't included the UI icons (3D arrows that point at stuff) because I'll be including those in a separate mod.

Cyclops X-Treme Gear Without Visor v1.1

***Cyclops's X-Treme Gear skin was originally made for the cut Act 4 of X-Men Legends I. In that act, Cyclops wouldn't have needed his visor anymore and would've worn this costume without it, as is the case in that skin's unused loading screen and conversation hud.

**This mod includes a modified version of BaconWizard17's version of Cyclops X-Treme Gear skin with the visor removed, as well as a 3D head with the visor removed as well. It also includes the unused conversation hud of that skin from the XML1 Prototype, which also doesn't feature a visor.
-Both cel-shaded and non-cel-shaded versions of the skin are included.



Bonus:
*In the XML1 Prototype, Cyclops's conversation huds are all based around the same art. He has his X-Treme Gear one, with no visor and his Flashback/Original hud, which is the same hud but with a mask and visor added and a different colored background. Raven Software released screenshots before XML1 came out depicting a third hud in this same style for his Ultimate skin, which was the same as the X-Treme Gear hud but with the visor from the Flashback/Original hud but without the mask. It had the same color background as the X-Treme Gear hud. I have reconstructed this hud.
*Also contained are the 3 "Dead" versions of those 3 huds. Originally, XML1 was supposed to have a hud system like MUA1's except that if a character died, their hud turned black and white. I have included all 3 that are in the XML1 Prototype. While the Ultimate hud wasn't included in the Prototype, and so I had to remake it, the Dead version of that hud was.
*I've denoised all huds included to improve their quality.
*I've also included Cyclops's unused X-Treme Gear loading screen, which I was able to find online after much difficult searching. I've AI Upscaled it.
*I've also made a character select portrait featuring Cyclops's unused X-Treme Gear loading screen.

*I made a variant of BaconWizard17's XML1 Civilian skin that also features the alternate colored parts from his Ultimate Alternate skin.
*I've also included a conversation hud I made by painting sunglasses onto the XML1 Prototype X-Treme Gear Hud that I included with my Cyclops X-Treme Gear Without Visor skin.

**This is a skin of Toad inspired by his look in X-Men Destiny. I ripped UltimateVeNoM's MUA1 skin texture of this and applied it to BaconWizard17's Ultiamte Toad model and 3D head, made Cel Shaded and Non Cel Shaded versions of the skin, and made a custom conversation hud.

**This is a skin of Iron Man 2020.
The original skin texture was done by UltimateVeNoM for a MUA1 skin. I extracted the texture, touched it up to fix some issues which including redoing his face, and applied it to BaconWizard17's Iron Man Classic model and 3D head. I made Cel Shaded and Non Cel Shaded versions.
I've included 2 conversation huds: a remake of UltimateVeNoM's original one and one I made.
I've also included a character select portrait I made.

**This is a skin of Iron Man in his Model 7 Stealth Armor.
The original skin texture was done by iammingy for a very old MUA1 skin. I modified the skin texture to fix various issues and change the eyes from the angry MUA1 Doom Iron Man eyes to the normal Classic Iron Man eyes. I then applied the texture to BaconWizard17's Iron Man Classic model and 3D Head. I made Cel Shaded and Non Cel Shaded versions.
I also made a custom conversation hud and character select portrait.

The original skin texture was done by iammingy for a very old MUA1 skin. **Originally, all the playable characters in XML1 would've worn their New X-Men costumes. Angel was a cut playable characters in XML1, but we don't know what his New X-Men costume in XML1 would've looked like. BaconWizard17 made the comic version of his New X-Men costume, which has blue skin and long hair. Angel probably would've had his default XML1/XML2 haircut and wouldn't have become Archangel and gotten blue skin until the cut Act 4 of XML1. So, I made this skin to match what I think his XML1 New X-Men costume might've looked like.
*I put my skin texture on BaconWizard17's Angel Classic model and 3D head.
*I also made a custom conversation hud and a custom character select portrait.

**Originally, Beast's X-Treme Gear skin features him without blue fur. This is because that skin was originally made for the cut Act 4 of XML1 which would've featured Beast somehow losing his blue fur. I made this variant so that his X-Treme Gear skin could also have the blue fur. Also included is a 3D head for this skin.
*I also made a custom conversation hud and a custom character select portrait.

**I recolored BaconWizard17's Magneto Ultimate XML1 skin and 3D head to look like Magneto's MUA2 default skin, as his default skin in that game is just his XML1 skin but different colors. (The red parts of his costume are as close to dark purple and the rest of it is now much darker shades of black and grey. I got the colors as close to MUA2's as I could.)
*I also made a custom conversation hud and a custom character select portrait using Magento's MUA2 concept art.

**I recolored BaconWizard17's Magneto Ultimate XML1 skin and 3D head to look like Magneto's MUA2 default skin, as his default skin in that game is just his XML1 skin but different colors. I've taken the unused MUA1 Super-Skrull Ultimate skin texture (taken from MUA1 PSP lead artist Jason Harlow's website) and put it on the PS2 Super-Skrull model and the MUA1 Prototype Cel-Shaded Super-Skrull model.
I have also recolored Super-Skrull's MUA1 hud to match the skin's colors.

**I recolored BaconWizard17's Beast X-Factor skin to look like Beast's later yellow and brown X-Factor costume. I also added the head and neck stripes that the costume has. I recolored a hud BaconWizard made as well, and I made a character select portrait.
*I also made a character select portrait and 2 conversation huds: 1 MUA1-style one and 1 that's a recolor of a conversation hud BaconWizard17 made for the X-Men Legends II Ultimate Patch

**In the comics, Iron Man's Model 2 armor has tons of slight variants, so I used BaconWizard17's Model 4 Classic model and skin and modified them by choosing the parts from the different variants in order to make this skin into a version of his Model 2 armor that is as different as possible from his Model 4 armor. I removed the shoulder braces and hip pouches, moved the 2 chest rivets down lower, recolored the belt buckle yellow, and altered the mouth.
*I also made a custom character select portrait and 2 huds, a XML2-style one and a MUA1 style one.

This skin is based upon Psylocke's costume from Ultimate X-Men when she was on Bishop's team.

I ripped the skin texture from version of this skin that BLaw did for MUA1, touched it up, fixed various issues, and put it on BaconWizard17's Psylocke 90's model, which I removed the parts of the sash from. I made Cel-Shaded and Non-Cel-Shaded versions of the skin.
Due to differences between BLaw's model and BaconWizard17's, there are 2 things I had to leave out: the nose ring and the big white puffy skirt, but I think the skin looks better without them anyway.
I also made a 3D head, 2 custom conversation huds (a MUA1-style one and a XML2-style one) and a character select portrait.

This skin is based upon Psylocke's X-Force costume.

I recolored BaconWizard17's Psylocke 90's skin texture to look like her X-Force costume.
I also made a 3D head, 2 custom conversation huds (a MUA1-style one and a XML2-style one that's a recolor of her XML1 conversation hud) and a character select portrait.

**This skin is based upon some promo art Marvel did for their Secret Invasion comic event, where a Skrull was impersonating Wolverine and was wearing his classic brown costume. I used the face from the MUA1 PS2 Skrull Scientist, put it on BaconWizard's Wolverine Classic texture, touched it up a little, and recolored the arms to match the Skrull's skin color.

*I used the promo art for the XML2 and MUA1 style conversation huds and CSP, because it closely resembled the MUA1 Wolverine huds, even if the shade of green is different (although that's also the case with Super-Skrull's MUA1 hud and skin anyway.)

*I also made a villain version of the MUA1 hud with a red glow.

This is my remake of an unused MUA1 skin. There's quite a long story behind this.



In the Bonus DVD that came with some PS2 copies of MUA1, there are 3 brief clips of Wolverine wearing a brown jacket with yellow and white stripes on the sleeves. (I have included a screenshot of this.)
Wolverine has a different face and hair as well.
 
This skin is different from the unused MUA1 black leather jacket skin that BaconWizard17 did a version of.
This skin's texture is unused in MUA1's files, but is put on the wrong model (Wolverine's unused briefing model) and we don't have the model is was originally for.

iammingy released a version for MUA1 in 2008 that appears to be an adaptation of this. iammingy offers no explanation, but after comparing the unused MUA1 version to his, it's clear to me that he took the jacket parts of the texture, arranged them to fit on a model he appears to have made, and made new pants that look similar to the ones on the unused skin texture (because the existing pants are layed out too differently), and made various other modifications.
However, his version still not as close as it could be, is not a XML2 compatible skin, doesn't have a Cel-Shaded version or 3D head, and I wanted it to fit in with BaconWizard17's Wolverine skins and models.

I took the pants and jacket from iammingy's skin and the belt and belt buckle from BaconWizard17's Wolverine Modern Jacket, put them on BaconWizard17's Wolverine Civilian Jacket skin and rearranged them and modified them to fit.
I recolored the belt buckle to be gold like the unused MUA1 version is.
I put this all on BaconWizard17's Wolverine Civilian Jacket model and 3D head.
This all means this skin uses BaconWizard17's hair and face textures.
This is so that he'd be consistent with Wolverine's other skins and because the face and hair in the unused original texture look sort of odd.

In this way, I've remade this skin to fit in with BaconWizard17's Wolverine skins and models.

I made Cel-Shaded and Non-Cel-Shaded versions of it as well as XML2 and MUA1 style conversation huds and a character select portrait.

(It's kind of hard to see the stripes on the arms in the screenshot because of the camera angle, but they're much easier to see in-game and they can be seen in the included MUA1 PS2 Bonus DVD screenshot.)

I've recolored and altered BaconWizard17's Deadpool Classic texture and model to be as close to Deadpool's Days of Future Now costume as possible.
This included removing the right thigh band and his bandolier of pouches from his chest.
He doesn't have the X on the right side of his chest like he does on this costume in the comics, but that's because this model is symmetrical, so it wasn't possible. But honestly, I think it good without it.

I've made Cel Shaded and Non-Cel Shaded skins for both his playable and boss versions, a 3D head, character select portrait, and XML2, MUA1, and MUA1 boss style conversation huds.

This is my version of Gambit's MUA2 skin.

The original skin texture was for done many years ago by Quentin Hex for a MUA1 skin.
I have made many improvements and changes to it.

I replaced the face with the face on BaconWizard17's Gambit Modern texture, then I redid his mask and neck to fit on that BaconWizard17's Gambit Modern model.
I redid his kneecaps to also fit on this model and to fix some issues with them.
I redid his gloves to look like they do in MUA2, but instead of 3 large pink buttons with 1 below it, I decided to make 1 pink button on each knuckle.
I've made the silver X symbols on the sides of his heels to look the same has the pink X symbols on his knees.
I fixed the collar/lapels part of the coat's texture.
I removed his hip pouches, both because he doesn't have them in MUA2, and because they make the skin a little bit more different from BaconWizard17's Modern skin.
I also did various touchups to the texture overall.

Not all the details are the same as his MUA2 costumes.
Quentin Hex redesigned this a bit, and I've kept those redesigned elements and done a few of my own, because I think they look good and because it makes this skin fit in better with BaconWizard17's Gambit skins.

I put all of this on BaconWizard17's Gambit Modern model and 3D head.

I made Cel Shaded and non Cel Shaded versions, as well as a 3D head, XML2 and MUA1 style conversation huds, and a character select portrait.

This is my recreation of Wolverine's unused XML1 New X-Men skin, which can be seen in early screenshots for XML1, but was cut from the game before release and isn't included in either the Retail or Prototype versions of XML1.
I looked closely at all the available screenshots and renders and have recreated this skin as closely as possible. I've made it on BaconWizard17's Wolverine Civilian Jacket model and used his texture as a starting point.

The one thing I left out were the brown kneepads, for 2 reason. 1st, because they were impossible to get right, and 2nd, because I think the skin looks better without them.



I also made a character select portrait.

For the MUA1-style conversation huds, I made normal and boss versions.



For the XML2-style conversation huds, I did something special.
In the XML1 prototype, there's a set of black and white huds that were intended for when XML1 was supposed to use a more MUA1-style hud system. When a character died, their hud would be replaced with a black and white version.
When Raven switched over the the current 3D head system, the 2d hud images were repurposed for conversations huds.
In the XML1 Prototype, Wolverine's dead hud is a completely different unused design from his conversation hud that's used in the final game.

I have colorized this and have used this for this skin's XML2-style hud.
My reasoning is that since it's appears to be an eariler unused hud design, and since Wolverine's New X-Men skin is an earlier unused skin, I thought they would go very well together, especially since the hud features only Wolverine's head and not his costume.
By the way, I was unable to get the hair to be black because of how the skin can be seen through his hair and how the skin and hair colors blend together, so I had to make it brown.

These were cut from the final game, we don't have Raven's versions of them, and for many characters, we have no screenshots or art of what they would've looked like. Plus, some characters didn't have New X-Men costumes in the comics, meaning Raven would've had to create their own.

For Gambit, he didn't have one in the comics, and we don't know what Raven's design looked like.

So I created my own by recoloring BaconWizard17's Gambit Modern skin and its corresponding 3D head.

In MUA1's concept art gallery, Super-Skrull's skin is shown as having his right arm and hand be the Thing's and his right arm and hand be the Human Torch's. They are also shown as being different sizes. Whereas in the final game, he doesn't.
This changes his arms and hands to both be the Thing's, which is as close as I can get because his arms are both the same size and shape, and they're well-suited to look like the Thing's arms. I also think it looks great like this anyway.

I have included 2 versions: 1 version on the PS2 Super-Skrull model and 1 version on the MUA1 Prototype Cel-Shaded model.

I've also included a version of his hud that's converted to work with XML2.

By default, Forge's XML1 and 2 skin doesn't fit in with the other X-Men's XML1 and 2 Ultimate skins.
But, he does have some of the same parts on his skin as theirs, such as the knee and elbow pads, they just aren't yellow.
So, I've recolored Forge's XML2 Ultimate skin to be closer to the rest of the X-Men's XML1 and 2 Ultimate skins and fit in with theirs better.

**This is Shocker's MUA1 Ultra skin. I've converted this skin's texture and model to work in XML2, since it wasn't in the PS2 version of MUA1 and therefore didn't have a XML2 compatible version.

**This is my XML2 version of Iceman's MUA1 Classic skin. I've combined elements of the MUA1 PC and PS2 versions of this skin.
*I've replaced the feet and bottom half of the leg textures on BaconWizard17's Iceman Classic skin texture with those from the MUA1 PS2 Iceman Classic texture, meaning that he's now barefoot.
*I've removed the belt and tops of the boots from BaconWizard17's Iceman Classic model.
*Like the MUA1 PC version of this skin, and unlike the MUA1 PS2 version, he doesn't have the dark blue armband.
