>>DOWNLOAD v1.3 HERE<< (http://www.box.net/shared/yerzpz30gg)
(for MUA-PC only)

Notes for V1.3: :iceman:
1. Added a 6th skin (X-Men costume) and the corresponding HUD

Notes for V1.2: :iceman:
1. Fixed the missing chill effect for the Ultimate costume

If you have installed V1.1, then you just need to replace Iceman's herostat with this:

   stats {
   ailevel = 1 ;
   autospend = support ;
   body = 5 ;
   characteranims = 08_iceman ;
   charactername = Iceman ;
   level = 1 ;
   menulocation = 19 ;
   mind = 12 ;
   name = Iceman ;
   playable = true ;
   powerstyle = ps_iceman ;
   scriptlevel = 3 ;
   skin = 0801 ;
   skin_01_name = Classic ;
   skin_02 = 03 ;
   skin_02_name = Spiky ;
   skin_03 = 02 ;
   skin_03_name = Bobby Drake ;
   skin_04 = 04 ;
   skin_04_name = Original ;
   skin_05 = 05 ;
   skin_05_name = Ultimate ;
   sounddir = iceman_m ;
   strength = 4 ;
   team = hero ;
   textureicon = 6 ;
      Race {
      name = Mutant ;
      }

      Race {
      name = XMen ;
      }

      talent {
      level = 1 ;
      name = iceman_p2 ;
      }

      talent {
      level = 1 ;
      name = iceman_resist ;
      }

      talent {
      level = 1 ;
      name = fightstyle_default ;
      }

      talent {
      level = 1 ;
      name = melee_moves ;
      }

      talent {
      level = 1 ;
      name = block ;
      }

      talent {
      level = 1 ;
      name = grab ;
      }

      StatEffect {
      bolt = Bip01 Spine2 ;
      effect = char/iceman/special_selfchill ;
      fxlevel = 1 ;
      skin = 01 ;
      }

      StatEffect {
      bolt = Bip01 R Hand ;
      effect = char/iceman/special_selfchill ;
      fxlevel = 2 ;
      skin = 03 ;
      }

      StatEffect {
      bolt = Bip01 L Hand ;
      effect = char/iceman/special_selfchill ;
      fxlevel = 2 ;
      skin = 03 ;
      }

      StatEffect {
      bolt = Bip01 Spine2 ;
      effect = char/iceman/special_selfchill ;
      fxlevel = 1 ;
      skin = 02 ;
      }

      StatEffect {
      bolt = Bip01 Spine2 ;
      effect = char/iceman/special_selfchill ;
      fxlevel = 1 ;
      skin = 04 ;
      }

      StatEffect {
      bolt = Bip01 Spine2 ;
      effect = char/iceman/special_selfchill ;
      fxlevel = 1 ;
      skin = 05 ;
      }

   }

You might need to start a new game for the changes to take effect.

:bowdown1: Thanks Gevth for pointing out the limits of the herostat! :bowdown1:

Notes for V1.1: :iceman:
1. Changed the hit-effect for Ice Slide
2. Fixed the missing HUD for the Original costume

:bowdown1: Thanks SpongeSpider for reporting the bug! :bowdown1:

Notes for v1.0: :iceman:

This mod gives Iceman:
1. ice-sled effects for his "Ice Slide" power.
2. an ice-shield model for his blocking animation
3. ice beam effect for his trip animation
4. a 5th costume (Ultimate Iceman) and the corresponding HUD
5. a fix in the cost of skill points in the talents file
6. a fix in the Xtreme that can damage all enemies including bosses

Instructions:

* Please refer to the readme included in the download.
* You may want to consult The Boy Sanga's tutorial (http://danmallinson.co.uk/MUA/tutorial.jpg) if you don't know how to edit your herostat. However, you can use Norrin Radd's Heroselect (http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=732.0) if you think all these steps are tedious.
* It is highly recommended that you start a new game with default stats after you have altered the herostat or installed a mod.
(http://xs123.xs.to/xs123/08031/new_game_with_default_stats738.jpg.xs.jpg) (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs123&d=08031&f=new_game_with_default_stats738.jpg)

1. Ice-sled effects:
I finally did it after spending some time studying the XML1 effects. Yay! I used most of the codes from XML1, but it's not a direct conversion. :(
(http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08230/iceman_sled340.png)

2. Blocking effects and model:
The animation was clearly designed for something like this, but the developers didn't make any effects and models. @_@ The ice shield is a custom model I modified from MUA, so it will turn red when your enemies hit you.
(http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08230/iceman_block339.png)
And, I think the developers were trying to copy Marvel VS Capcom. Well, at least I am. :P
(http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08230/iceblock495.gif)

3. Tripping effects:
The developers used the same animation from XML2, but they forgot to add the ice-beam effects... So, I added them and defined them properly in the powerstyle. :D Now. it deals cold damage instead of physical damage.
(http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08230/iceman_trip634.png)

4. Ultimate Iceman:
(http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08230/ultimate_iceman_hud646.png)
The XML1 version (which can be found in the Skin Mega Pack) was really low quality; it was 128x64. I made this Ultimate Iceman (ice form) using Ultimate Iceman (human form) from XML2 and the textures of Iceman's Classic costume from MUA.
(http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08230/ultimate_iceman971.png)

5. X-Men costume:
(http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08244/hud_x-men400.png)
This is Iceman's human form before he started wearing leather coat.
(http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08244/iceman_x-men684.png)
The one in Marvel vs Capcom is a variant of this costume, but this costume has many variants.

Is it dorky if I say this is "cool"? :)

Nice upgrades. I wonder: Does your knowledge of the ice slide lend itself to an upgrade of Magma and Avalanche's slide abilities?

I just tried the mod and great job! I never really saw how the default Iceman slide looked like Iceman's comic slide. The only glitch I noticed is that Iceman's hud for his "Original" costume won't work.

What's wrong with the slide? You can't see what it looks like in the pic I showed above?

For the Original costume, I know what's wrong and I can fix that. Sorry about that though. I will change the hit-effect of the slide power, too.

I meant the un-modded version of Iceman's Ice Slide didn't really look like the Iceman's slide in the comics and you're version does look like the comic version. I'll fix my post.

OK, I have uploaded the update.
If you have installed v1.0, then you just need to put the files from the powerstyles folder and the packages folder to their corresponding folders in MUA.

Thanks SpongeSpider for reporting the bug! :bowdown1:

About time the Ice Slide was added back in - I REALLY wish the dev's had figured this out on their own though! Iceman ALWAYS has Ice Slide - its like removing Spideys web or keeping Invisible woman from flying :P which has been fixed already ;)

All 'n all a GREAT addition... I hope you figure out why the cold effect won't show up - but even if you don't it still rocks ;)
Title: Re: ICEMAN upgrades v1.1 (ice-sled, etc.)
Post by: iammingy on June 09, 2008, 12:59AM
Thanks guys.

I was thinking of incorporating Iceman's spiky ice armor from XML1 into MUA, but the armor doesn't work that well on top of MUA skins (in both XML2 and MUA). It works well on XML2 skins, however. So, I dropped the idea.

What you guys see here are what I have planned for Iceman long time ago. There is still room for one more skin, the 6th costume, though.

Awesome, can I use this in the next Xbox update?

--Oh, and if we ever update the Official Characters mod again we should totally put this, the Daredevil swing and Invisible Woman updates in there.
Title: Re: ICEMAN upgrades v1.1 (ice-sled, etc.)
Post by: iammingy on June 09, 2008, 11:11AM
Yeah, but this upgrade is only compatible to the PC version for now. I need to convert the ice shield texture from DXT1 to DXT3 to make it XBOX-compatible.

If you do, don't include Daredevil's baton swing because the baton swing takes away his long double jump. Some people might not like it.

I agree with you, iammingy. I don't think anyone would complain about the additions to Iceman and Sue, but I personallly like DD's unique jump and haven't installed the baton swing.  Be nice to have skins 3 and 4 for Ronin to add to an update too to get rid of the "incomplete" status, though I'm sure that's not really a priority for anyone (myself included.)

Ultimate Iceman can have his chill effects now thanks to Gevth's discovery of the limits in the herostat. This proves that the bug has nothing to do with PS2 skins!

(http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08242/chillout950.png)

The code below is the updated herostat for Iceman. You will notice that the chill effects lags a little bit during the menu_action and menu_goodbye animations for the "Bobby Drake" (3rd) costume because I took out the animation filter to yield more space for all these StatEffects. Other than that, he's the same as before.

   stats {

Oooh, if you do that, you should do a full-ice form of the Bobby Drake skin :D

Man, that'd be awesome.  3 of the 4 skins would be human form, and they transform when attacking or using a power.  Cool idea Sasquatch.
Title: Re: ICEMAN upgrades v1.3 (ice-sled, etc.)
Post by: iammingy on June 12, 2008, 02:59PM
Yes, I will make it something like this:

from microheroes and comics, respectively:
(keep the sunglasses, pants, shoes, and coat; everthing else iced-up)
(http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08244/blanchett_icemanforspaz171.gif)(http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08244/170419-28505-iceman_super802.jpg.xs.jpg) (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs128&d=08244&f=170419-28505-iceman_super802.jpg)

So, the set-up I have in mind is:
1. x-men (my reskin, done) --> Classic (official MUA)
2. ultimate (offical XML2) --> ultimate ice-form (my kit-bash, done)
3. Bobby Drake (official MUA) --> Bobby Drake ice-form (not started yet)
I think this is probably same as what you guys have in mind. :D

However, what should I do with the Original and Spikey costumes? :idea:

EDIT: By the way, I notice that the ice shield for blocking doesn't get removed soon enough when Iceman evade/roll. It's nothing big, but it might annoy some people. I need to think about how to fix this without removing all the work I have done for blocking. haha

Oh, I see. Surely iceman wore something when he wasn't in snowy-mode in those first few issues of X-Men. That seems easy enough to come up with. Spiky, I'm not so sure.

Yeah, I think I will reskin civilian male from XML1 for Original. I am not sure about Spikey either.

hey could I use the 6th skin in xml2?

This skin is 0806.igb in the update.

First, download the update and put 0806.igb in the actors folder. You don't need to rename this file because Iceman uses 08XX in both XML2 and MUA and there is no 0806 in XML2.

Second, you need to modify the herostat by adding a skin slot like so:

  stats {
  ailevel = 1 ;
  autospend = support_heavy ;
  body = 20 ;
  characteranims = 08_iceman ;
  charactername = Iceman ;
  level = 1 ;
  mind = 12 ;
  name = Iceman ;
  playable = true ;
  power1 = power1 ;
  power2 = power3 ;
  power3 = power8 ;
  power4 = power9 ;
  powerstyle = ps_iceman ;
  scriptlevel = 3 ;
  skin = 0801 ;
  skin_70s = 20 ;
  skin_aoa = 02 ;
  skin_civilian = 24 ;
  skin_winter = 06 ;
  sounddir = iceman_m ;
  speed = 16 ;
  strength = 20 ;
  team = hero ;
  textureicon = 6 ;
  ...
  }

After that, save the XML and compile. Put it in the data folders.

Third, you need to build new packages for this skin.
- Decompile iceman_0802.PKGB and iceman_0802_nc.PKGB from ..\Packages\generated\characters
- Open the two XML files created, replace all "0802" with "0806".
- After that, save the files and compile them to iceman_0806.PKGB and iceman_0806_nc.PKGB
- Put these two PKGB files back in ..\Packages\generated\characters

Fourth, you need a 3D HUD for this skin. Let's use lab tech male's.
- copy 10201.IGB from ..\UI\hud\characters to desktop
- rename it to 0806.igb and put it back to ..\UI\hud\characters

Finally, start a new game and let me know whether it works or not.

You mean like how BliZZ did it with Emma Frost's Diamond form? (pressing the GUARD button twice or something like that)

Man, that'd be awesome.  3 of the 4 skins would be human form, and they transform when attacking or using a power.  Cool idea Sasquatch.

I tought that for more characters like colossus, hulk and some others but I thought it was impossible but modders here are always doing miracles

Hey, this might be an idea. I seem to recall an early issue of the AoA saga (it might even have been a prequel issue that came out later) where Magneto was putting the X-Men through training and they were all wearing similar red and gold uniforms. I don't believe Iceman was wearing one of those, but perhaps that could be some inspiration for the human side of his spiky costume. I'll see if I can wrangle up some images.

OK, this is the last time I post on this topic, I promise, but this appears to be some Iceman trivia. I think this is the only panel Bobby appears de-iced in the Earth -295 universe. From, again, X-Men Chronicles #1, I believe.

The black is actually red like the other team members uniforms, but the panel is small and thus colored that way.

I'll keep an eye out for it then. Iceman is one of my favourite X-Men ever I always have him on my team.

Just a random question, does the XML2 version of Iceman have any powers that aren't in the MUA version? If there are any, I think it'd be cool (excuse the pun) to update Iceman, and possibly the other MUA X-Men, with powers from XML2.

Hey, me too!!!

Ice Pillar was in XML2 but not in MUA. Other powers are fairly similar. I can add that power in the next update. I think Gambit should get one more power, either Full House or Ace of Spades, but that's BliZZ mod. So, he can add that if he wants.

Is it possible to add a tripping feature to Frigid Aura? Something like this to the description "Iceman's aura also causes the ground to ice over, causing enemies to slip", sure it'd make it a bit broken but Iceman is supposed to be powerful!

I assume tripping is possible to do through powers but then again, I'm usually wrong. :P

Yes, I think it's possible! Thanks for the idea! :) I will try to do this and see if it works.

I think I can also set a tripping chance so that the aura doesn't always trip all the tripable enemies in the vicinity.

Ok, I just checked. Here are all of Iceman's power from XML2:

Freeze Beam - Sends out a beam, freezing enemies for a time. Can build bridges
- Already in MUA
Ice Shards - Throws shards of ice at enemies, inflicting COLD DMG
- Already in MUA
Ice Slide - Slides on an ice sled, damaging and slowing hit enemies
- Already in MUA
Ice Gloves - Gives self and allies ice gloves for a time adding COLD DMG to melee attacks and increasing ATK
- Already in MUA
Cold Crush - Ice projectile. Freezes target, slows in radius. Can build bridges
- Similar to MUA's Polar Explosion
Ice Armor - Armor takes damage instead of Iceman. Also damages and slows melee attackers
- Similar to MUA's Frigid Aura except for the part where it take damage for Iceman
COLD SNAP - Xtreme cold attack damaging everything in sight. Nearby enemies are frozen, more distant enemies are slowed
- Similar to my version of Deep Freeze in this upgrade
Slow Beam - Sends out a beam, slowing enemies. Can build bridges
- Not in MUA, but you don't need this when you have Freeze Beam and Ice Shard.
Arctic Burst - Radial blast of cold which damages and slows enemies
- Not in MUA, but it's just a sucky radial form of Slow Beam

So, it boils down to these two:

Ice Pillar - Blast ice pillars from the ground, damaging enemies and popping them up
- Not in MUA
ICE SIDEKICK - Spawn a minion to fight alongside party for a time
- Not in MUA

The Iceman in MUA can hold one more power. Which one do you guys like?

Yes, you can.
Make sure that this file from the Upgrade is NOT installed on your computer:
..\data\powerstyles\ps_iceman.engb
Don't delete the original ps_iceman.engb from your computer though.

Doing this will only add the 2 extra skins. All the other updates (tripping ice beam, ice-slide tracks, ice-shield for blocking, Xtreme can damage boss) will not show up. I think that should do the trick. :)

Yes, Iceman has 7 powers and 1 Xtreme. The problem is MUA keyboard players only have keys for 8 powers and 1 Xtreme and they don't have gamepad's "use power" key. XML2 has that key, but the developers took it out of MUA!!!!

Could you add an icy effect to his 3rd light attack? It's the one that makes him slide forward. As in for the sliding part not damage.

I use a keyboard too. I can't afford to use anything else lol. Here are some screenshots. To explain, having beaten the game, I use the game to tinker with the powers and such just for fun, so alot of things will seem out of place (like Hud icons and skins). Also, I tinkered with mods, once I installed them so see what I could do with them.

At the bottom of the screen, he has 9 powers and a slot for an xtreme. The menu screen shows these as well, but I was short on time (I got distracted and started uploading pics from other things, like having th characters fight each other and other stuff.

This is Luke Cage, who I changed to into Grey Gargoyle.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v471/wade_curt/Marvel0064.png

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v471/wade_curt/Marvel0070.png

Grey Garyole turns on the team and takes them out (from some time ago, when I tested this out on Captain Marvel (Luke Cage was not loaded up at the time so Cap Marvel had to serve as a specimen for my experiments). I'm not sure if this is a big deal or not, since I saw someone talking about this on a thread. This is as far as I got with this.

Here, Grey Gargoyle turns on the team, using a modified version of Dr. Strange's team switch. Human Torch, Multiple Man, and Mr. Fantastic (with a Morph skin lol) are the victims. Human Torch and Mr. Fantastic put up a serious fight (I tried not to turn them into stone at first).

The pairing of Mr. Fantastic and Human Torch was ridiculous. I couldn't get a hit in at one point.

I'm still working out damage (they couldn't damage me (they could knock me about and such) but I could harm them). I think I know of a way they could deal damage to me, but I would have to get to that later on, since I'm busier these days than before.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v471/wade_curt/Marvel0200.png
I noticed that I could do this with Mulitple man's copies, which is nothing special. However, I know that team switch can be done so that everyone on your team switches, but can still attack bad guys. I think this works on them and so they will follow you, but that is something I have not given a try yet (I replaced that power in Dr. Strang e with something else and gave team switch to another character not currently loaded. I was planning on looking it over later).

It depends on the character, really. I can see how Wolvie can have a limited number, but Iceman, or Human Torch, or X-man can have a few extra. For shapeshifters, yes, some of the powers may be multiple copies of the same one, but this adds more variety to them (as well as more skins to change into---but I'm getting ahead of myself lol).

In any case, Ice pillar sounds cool, or a radial freeze that, is caused by Iceman punching the ground once. It would have less damage than a regular freeze but it would be useful in crowded situations.

LOL Yeah, alot of the stuff is unrefined.

As for adding a 9th power, all you have to do is change the icon value to the what the Xtreme's icon value is, and name the added power whatever the icon value power is, usually power9. Then with the xtreme, increase the icon value by one, and do the same with the power value. In other words:

Added power:
For iceman, icon = 8 ;
name = power 9 ;

And for the xtreme:
icon = 9 ;
name = power10 ;

This is done in the powerstyle. You will do the same thing in the talent file as well. a fun fact with the powers: They can go past 10 (one of my characters has a power named power11 by accident without problem), so I think even more can be added. I bet the limit is 26 or 27 powers. Once I figure out the limit on powers, I'll be sure to post something. Hope this helps.

For iceman, icon = 8 ;
name = power 9 ;

And for the xtreme:
icon = 9 ;
name = power10 ;

The ordering can change. The icons number for character-specific icons can be anything from 0-11 as long as they match the ones in the talents file. The shared talent icons can be more than 11 though.

My question was about assigning the key/button on the keyboard for the 9th power. You only get 8 powers in the Controller Settings for the Keyboard, right?

No, when you do that, it automatically assigns the power to the key 9 and pushes the xtreme to key 0.

Great mod,thanks. but i have a related question,since you added a ice block to iceman blocking move,how did you do that ? cos i want to do the same with webbing for spider-man,cos its clear from his animation that he is spinning a web dome.
