Switching hosts and upgrading forum software. Feel free to keep posting but know that any posts you make from now on won't be carried over to the updated forum.
I could shut the site down until it's updated to preserve consistency, but then you guys wouldn't have a place to play. :P
How thoughtful of you^^. Are you also removing the main site?
Yea, it's sort of in an inactive state.
Forum upgrade complete, still have the fun task of moving to a different server...

Thanks for the heads up on this, i'll try not to post anything important then.
I don't know if it's some problem with the upgrade or if I'll have to wait till we move to the different server, but I can't access my PMs.
Just wated to point out an error on the main page,
"Users active in past %1$d minutes:"
I copy and pasted that as is. I'm pretty sure i can tell the time correctly, but i have no idea how long %1$d minutes is. :P
part of the updateness, i guess. personal messages also apear at the bottom, the "new topic" or "reply" are different and quotes look different aswell.
And we're back...
:magik:
Will be making some style tweaks over the next few days, but maintenance is complete.
Great to hear! Or read XD
It's different, but pretty ^^
Wow, very different. But, you know, I was just thinking how boring the old one looked.
it's looking great, much better than b4! everything's working fine so far, though I don't know if I'm the only one who has this problem, the forum is much wider now and doesn't fit my screen.
it fits my screen but it can't handle wide images like the one I just posted in one of my workbenchtopics (recent one). But that ain't a problem for me though. I like the new look; it's modern^^

same here, i like the look but the screen is really wide
Not too wide for me, but I have a wide screen moniter
only a bit wide for my laptop, but i like the new look.
and the wideness isn't that big of a problem.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll work to make it a fluid layout when I have time over the next few days.
The forum display is also way too wide for my screen as well.
Another thing is that the first line of each new message has an indentation about halfway across the page.

Agree, I like the new look :)
And not too wide on my screen.
I agree with everyone, the new look is great! ^^
I like the new look but its going to take a while to adjust from the old Marvelmods look.

yeah same here
so if new replies are not saved at all... how come this topic is fine?
emoticons don't work in "preview"! thought someone might like to know.
Addressed the width and images size issues.
Deedwooo when I click Preview I see all the smileys. Can you clear your cache and cookies?
The width is perfect for me now :)
The width is about this much too wide for me, but it is better: ____ <----- the length of that underscore
Also, there is still the huge indentation for the first line of everyone's message. Each message starts in the middle of the page and then the second line goes to the left margin.
NOTE: As I was typing the above sentence, I noticed that the sentence kept on going way off the screen and I couldn't see what I was typing at all. I wouldn't be able to edit the words that are off the screen unless I just erase them all and start over. That could be a problem with posting tables, etc.

if you are using the latest version of internet explorer try the Compatibility View, that helped me avoid the typing issue you mentioned. The rest of the stuff you mentioned im not getting either way.
I'm using Internet Explorer, 6.0. LOL! I thought it was at least 7.0. Could that be the problem?

hah, sorry out of pure principle I will not support decade-old software ;)
https://www.microsoft.com/nz/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx
LOL! Glad to know that it was IE 6 that is most likely causing the problem at least. I'm glad you thought of that too, because I've never had this problem viewing other sites.
My only problem I just noticed is that I can't really see/use the search bar.
Either upgrade to Google Chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome) or IE8
Even with IE 6.0, I'm able to search the forum.

Ok, thanks.
Sorry for the changes... upgraded to the latest version and our old theme wasn't compatible. Learned my lesson for next update ;P
looks great to me, even better than b4 :D

Agree. Looks much better now.
Thanks :)
I actually preferred the other one. Orange is my least favourite colour. :P
Yeah i preferred the old one too, but whatever works is good for me
The only thing I'm not liking is the way search results are shown. Is there any way to change it to how they looked before?
i too liked the one we had yesterday morning the best. just sayin'.
post script: why can't i see the xml2 knowledge base?
^ thanks for the heads up, fixed and checked the rest of the boards too. For some reason that one was set wrong.
Sorry about the theme, you should be able to change it back by going to Profile > Modify Profile > Look & Layout
From what I remember the new version of the board farks it up... Will look into theming when I have the time
when i switch themes back to "reference" there are no icons on the front page.
Well, I updated to Internet Explorer 8.0, just so I could work with this forum better. A minute ago, I was trying to edit a long post and the text in the edit screen will jump around so you can't read the area where the cursor is once you get so far down into the body of the text. It's very tedious to edit. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? If you haven't tried to edit a long post, try it and see how it works. The post will need to be about 17 lines long to have these difficulties....
i havent tried it with this new forum version, but with the old one i had that issue. to fix it whenever i needed to edit a post i would just click Compatibility View in IE and i could edit normally. try that and see if it works for you too.

IE never worked well for me, I use Firefox, is FAR better than Internet Explorer...
That would be my suggestion to you :)

cool, there are some great choices there. great tip :D
@fox - try using the "core theme". it's the best looking one IMO and doesn't have any config problems to search or edit posts.
@ nodoubt_jr, whiteking, and Nowhere Man,
Thanks for the suggestions. I've actually tried all three of them now! I think the combination is working.
ever since the Forum Maintenance, ive noticed that large pics are no longer being auto-scaled down, my sig is like over-the-top big now lol :P
you could just make it smaller in paintbrush and reupload it to your signature.
thx for the headsup :)
