There's no much info about it, but I found this:

QuoteA short and sweet press release issued by Activision brings word of "X-Men: Destiny," an enigmatic new video game written by "X-Men: Legacy" comic book scribe Mike Carey. Little is known about the game at this time, except that it "casts players as new mutant recruits in a rich, branching storyline that features a deep element of choice and gives players ultimate control of their destiny." From the sound of it, I'm guessing that you'll play as brand new, possibly customizable characters, rather than old staples like Wolverine or Cyclops.

So, apparently, and I repeat, apparently, no senior X-men like Cyclops, Emma, Storm or Wolverine... really? :/

well, several senior x-men appear in the trailer. but maybe they're npcs.

Not interested then.
If they are going to use "new" mutants, they should introduce the New X-Men characters like Pixie, Hellion or Mercury, not create a new bunch of characters that (probably) will stay on the videogame storyline and nothing more (like the Imprerfects for example)

But this is the first info we got, so, we'll see...

it would be cool if we could create our own character. choose the costume, powers, personality, attributes and so on.

No classic X-Men characters playable! No Cyclops, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Storm, etc. Can't believe that. Looks like if I buy this game I'll just create new characters who are identical to the classic X-M

This would be cool, but with the option to unlock known X-Men during the story that would help you during certain areas, so at the end of the game you have the whole team, plus your new character. Mostly because of this:

The game is 14+ months out, we really can't have any idea what the actual game will be like.  I, however, am intrigued by the idea of being your own character within the X-Men universe.  I mean, XML3 would obviously be my optimal choice for a new X-Game, but I'd say this sounds like a good second option.

I'm with you. For me, the only logical thing would be, if we could totally customize the character.

BTW people, this fits well with Marvel. After killing done so many characters, why not make a game, where you are with an entirely new one?

From the trailer I've seen Cyclops, Wolverine, Magneto, and Nightcrawler. The woman imo is either Jean Grey or Dazzler and the other guy could be Cannonball.

I assumed it was Iceman because it was accompanied by the creaking sound of something freezing over. The woman would be Jean Grey because, well, she always has to be there somewhere.

Never thought of Iceman. I thought I saw a jacket and Cannonball sprang in mind. It is likely Iceman. For the woman the hair reminds me of Jean and so does the pose. The back looks like the cosmos which is why I associate it with Jean. If they are not using obscure characters for the trailer then its not Dazzler.

The characters i hope are in there are Jean,Emma,Storm(a must) rogue,Gambit,Cyclops and Psylocke

Title: Re: X-Men: Destiny
Post by: Nowhere Man on October 09, 2010, 02:22AM
what I got from the trailer was different. the first 3 characters were the 3 new playable characters created exclusively for the game. From Wolverine on they're familiar characters. First one is Wolverine, obviously, the second one I think is Pyro. Look at the wrist area. pretty big bracelets that resembles Pyro's flame throwers. The backgroud is fiery and the character has some volume above the shoulders that resembles his fuel backpack. 3rd character I believe is Storm, because of the celestial background and white-silver glow on her hands that reminds me of lightning. If it was Jean something fiery or originated on the head would make a lot more sense. After that I suppose everybody thought Nightcrawler, Cyclops and Magneto.

At NYCC the only real news that they mentioned was that it will not be a "dungeon crawler" game but they cannot tell us what kind of game it will be yet.

I like the idea of creating a character.  That also gives the non-comic book readers a fresh start with being introduced to characters they don't know about through this game.  I'd love to decide the powers and costume.  I think that the characters they showed are Wolverine, Pyro, Emma, Nightcrawler, Cyclops, and Magneto.  And of course i think the voice is Prof. X.  I am excited about this game.  Can't wait for more news about it.

I always dreamed about a Marvel game, where we could create our very own character. I still hope this will be a little bit like that.

It looks really really fun thus far. I like the idea of placing your own character into the X-Men universe. I am going to have to agree that it is probably Emma Frost. IGN talks about it being set in current X-Men mythos (written by the same guy as well), where Jean is dead, again. The weird sparkles in the background also hint at Emma's Diamond form.

Yeah that blue sparkly BG made me think emma, plus the pose and hair and body shape remind me of emma.

Well, it's all about choices. I quote: "Ultimate choice". Well, yeah. They better give us freedom about the new, original character, or they should stop with the "all about choices" stuff now, before they make any serious progress.

About a trailer....  Has reconsidered once again and has understood that  a silhouettes  of heroes well-known to us  are quite good! They are pleasant to me! It is a pity that speak nothing about a plot... I will wait.

It is dubbed, to be all about choices. As that, there should be a chance for:
a, working alone
b, working with the X-Men
c, working with the Brotherhood

And other choices. At least, I hope so. If yes, I will play through this game a hundred times :D
Title: Re: X-Men: Destiny
Post by: Midnightphoenix on December 16, 2010, 08:38AM
Same here I just dont want it to be like oh your a mutant welcome to the X-Men go do some missions and then its just you own your own :( And in the trailer after all the X-men the first person they should look like Surge but I bet it wasnt but she could be a cool character to make
Title: Re: X-Men: Destiny
Post by: LX - Rampage on December 16, 2010, 08:44AM
I still hope there will be some customization. I mean, if it's about choices, it would be stupid, if we would get someone in a basic X-Men outfit with some stupid, overpowered mutant abilities. It would be like: "Hey, you can eat anything from the list, as long as it's cereals"

WOW new trailer is awesome.  Some of the characters are hard to figure out.  I mean the first one is cyke, then I don't know maybe emma (since the last trailer I thought was emma) or maybe magik or dazzler, next I thought was wolverine but he is later in that trailer so I don't know about that one (I was thinking about the sound and the colors and ears and thought maybe toad or anole but I don't know), then pyro, wolverine (never ever fails to be in a marvel game with mutants), the "blue elf" (nightcrawler), magneto, storm or like midnightphoenix said surge, avalanche maybe, maybe pixie, then the last one i thought maybe was berzerker but it reminds me of iron fist for some reason.  But the last three (the ones that I think seemed like avalanche, pixie, and berzerker) I don't think they are part of the x-men.  I think they are the three that are like the "mascots" of the game the whole "you" factor.  Either way I think the game will be awesome and I can't wait for updates.

EDIT: I was looking at it again and thought maybe the second person, the one after cyke, might be mystique since they said the whole I know what it's like to be different stuff, and also it seems like they are using villian type people like magneto and pyro and if my guesses are correct then it could balance out the number of heroes and villians with the extra last thrre people being the player, but who knows could be someone wayyyyy different.

I saw Cyke. The woman behind him is either Jean or Dazzler. Then Storm, Pyro, Wolverine, Magneto, and Nightcrawler (not in that order)

Yeah they havent made a x-men game for a very long time, so they really need to work there hardest for this game if they dont want to make X-Men fans mad, just like the X-Men the Offical game from the movie I was very angry with this game because you can only pick from 3 people or so and it doesnt even fallow the story that much, so lets hope this turns out to be a good game :/

  • Set in the time when the X-Men are based in San Francisco and believe Professor X to be dead
  • Choose one of three characters

  • Game-freezing "decision moments" that alter the story
  • Manage X-Genes, power meters, and special attacks in game
  • Confirms Cyclops, Quicksilver, Surge, Magneto, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, and Gambit will be in the game, with more to be announced
I still can't wait for this

I think it's because they show us little tiny previews early on, and we start speculating which brings out a lot of ideas that don't get fulfilled.   I think that they shouldn't release info so early on, and if they do, then it shouldn't be little info that we as future players of the game might warp into ideas of what would make this game amazing and such...................but that is just my take on it

Sadly none of the X-Men are playable, only the new mutants. On the Hero HQ forum they said that was confirmed. But I agree Storm, Wolvie, and many others like Cyke, Jean, Rogue, Iceman, etc. would have to be playable if the X-Men were not NPCs.
Title: Re: X-Men: Destiny

I just noticed in the article it says: "...at least one of three characters." So there is still a possibility that there will be more, but even if, it sounds like to me that you create your own mutant. So, having 3 options could mean that you play as a different character, with different abilities, about every time you play...until you exhaust all options of course.
Title: Re: X-Men: Destiny
Post by: SamaelValentine on January 08, 2011, 04:26AM
Which sounds stupid. You should be able to create your own mutant. With the graphic abilities we have now, in game rendering a created character is actually really easy. Shame on you game developers!

Yeah, look at WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011, for example (or any Smackdown vs RAW). It has some very neat character creation. To the point, that we can make everything. But, one thing I hope: that we get to change the clothes. At least, but if we get more, than the hair and stuff like that too (if not the whole face)

Good to see i'm not the only one like this. i was verryyy sad when MUA2 wasn't released on PC (and even more sad that the game is worse than MUA except for graphics and choices when talking)

Edit: man, i'm thinking right now, when there'll be a MMORPG (like DC universe online) where you can do everything like in your daily life? and with every update you can replay some movies and games? and even combining universes like MK vs DC, but even more options (for instance, Marvel vs DC vs MK vs Capcom vs Tekken vs...) and even adding a character creation....... OMG, all that i said won't happen in near future, too sad, or else everyone'll be stuck at their computers :)

alright we are very off topic now. i've been meaning to say something for a while now but really this has gone on far too long. this is not about marvel universe online or fantastic four or city of heros. and i'm sorry for junior moderating but this board doesn't really get the moderation that it needs so i felt i had to step in XP

More X-Men Destiny news:
Leaked screenshots and concept art.

Basically, in my opinion, looks like crap.  But granted, these are leaked and of a work-in-progress game.

More than the terrible graphics, look at those poses. If those are any indication of the type of movement we'll see in this game, count me out. It looks like this ridiculous character activates his powers by flailing those stubby arms about as if he were hardcore dancing...

OOh emma frost looks hot and her outift is practically her new xmen one with a bigger x and shorter hair but either way she looks damn good.
Im starting to not feel this game it seems boring i mean i like the fact you can customize and have your won powers but why call it xmen destiny when you only team up with your fellow x-men/or brotherhood and not be able to pick them. All i know is i wanna see rogue and storm next trailer jean too cause im suprised they didnt show her in trailer yet or even mention her
Title: Re: X-Men: Destiny
Post by: whiteking on July 21, 2011, 08:07AM
I know! I like the model that's why I want it for my mod lol!
I'm surprised that there's nothing about Jean, Rogue or others, but I have the feeling that this game is based on the current continuity on comics and if that's the case... well Jean is dead, perhaps DLC? I just hope that the developers understand that we want playable X-men too.
Title: Re: X-Men: Destiny
Post by: Scabbia on July 21, 2011, 08:37AM
Emma does look good. (Glad they made her sound like herself too, thats a plus.) I still think Mystique looks the best. :D lol. I'm sure they'll still have Rogue and Storm at least. If they are doing some kind of continueance from the comics or whatever, Rogue and Storm are still alive and kickin... It'd be nice if we could have the X-Men characters on our team and be able to play as them AND these new characters. (Doubt it, but it was a nice thought) Game developers are on this kick of creating new people and having so much to customize anymore, so yeah, I can't see them letting us play as the X-Men. Still looks good though.
Title: Re: X-Men: Destiny

I'm sure that Storm and Rogue will be in too, not too sure about Jean, but her fanbase is huge so who knows?

Well, looking at the gameplay and all, it's like a 100% that they will never make the X-Men or the Brotherhood playable in this game. But to tell you the truth, I think it's better this way, given the fact, that we can decide about being on the X-Men's or the Brotherhood's side.

Title: Re: X-Men: Destiny
Post by: whiteking on July 22, 2011, 08:35AM
So according to some articles on the internet, Professor Xavier is dead and the game take place on San Francisco...
Some details about the plot:

QuoteDestiny is a splinter of the X-Men continuity, putting the mutants in San Francisco following Professor X's death at the hands of Bastion. San Francisco has offered amnesty for mutants as the Purifier movement advances globally.

The story begins up on San Francisco's Embarcadero, with Cyclops, Emma Frost and San Francisco's mayor making a joint appearance to unveil a giant peace memorial which is, quite inadvisably, made of metal.

A catastrophic attack of unseen origin unfolds, laying waste to the Market House. At this point the player charatcter's powers manifest themselves. You get to pick one of three bases: density manipulation (think Colossus), energy projection (think any sort of blaster character), or dark matter (think Nightcrawler).

From there, the adventure proceeded through the ruins, with the player encountering roving bands of Purifier thugs, all waving stun wands, You dispatch these with the assistance of well-known mutants like Iceman and Quicksilver, with RPG Q&A conversations after the encounters helping to fill out the story.

Source: http://kotaku.com/5823580/x+men-destiny-takes-a-voice-of-protest-to-the-city-by-the-bay

So it seems a mix of the current continuity and some classic elements. Cyclops and Emma are the leaders of the x-men and current headmasters on this game's continuity but Magneto is still leader of the brotherhood (in fact the brotherhood still exist here ^^)

Title: Re: X-Men: Destiny

Looks like we have to stick to these 3 characters. But to make up for not playing as the X-men, you can mimic their powers by collecting X-genes, and you can dress up like them. And they sometimes show up as NPCs to help you in combat.

Some of the models, such as Emma, Toad and Juggs, would look great in MUA.

Is it sad that, after seeing the gameplay trailers, the first thing I thought of was what could possibly be used for MUA?

Yeah I'm not that interested too... maybe if you could customize your character on his/her look as well or create your own character would be more interesting... still an X-men game without the X-men playable is not one that I would buy...

Title: Re: X-Men: Destiny
Post by: 4elementsefww on August 03, 2011, 06:47AM
To me it seems like you can get certain powers from the x-men or brotherhood using the whole x-gene thing, but I like the fact that you get to play as a whole new character and that you get to choose your storyline, because then it makes you "feel" like your in the game, not living it through some pre-existing characters.

The only thing is I'm not a big fan of the power categories you get to choose from.  I guess if I played the game I'd choose the dark matter, or energy ones.  But I think that they should have made the categories bigger, like Psionic, Physical, Mystical, and Natural.

-Psionic allows powers involving psi, telekinetic, and force field.
-Physical allows powers involving strength, speed, melee, ninja, density (tough or phase) or even things that alter appearance, like morphing and such.
-Mystical is magic, energy based powers, shadow powers, and teleportation, those type of powers.
-Natural covers things like the elements, like ice, fire, air, water, earth, weather, electricity, or metal, those types of powers.

I think that those categories would cover a broad spectrum, not saying that they should put all those powers in those categories, but just an idea of what I'm thinking.  Each category I think would give different styles, like psionic is defensive, but also allows you to stand at a distance and fight.  Physical is mostly brute force, allowing characters to get close to enemies without taking a lot of damage.  Mystical is mostly defensive kind-of a mid range and and some quick melee attacks.  And natural is defensive and offensive.

ah this game looks freakin ugly, this should have never been made, they should stick to the already successful and well received XML and MUA series
even XML2 and MUA1 on PSP looks better than this
the only thing that looks good is the Emma Frost model because the last time we see her appearance in a game was in XML and XML2 6-7 years back. I miss her cape though
and that Wolverine model looks as bad as his model in X2 : Wolverine's revenge for PS2, his worst look in many years
Nightcrawler's costume made him look like a street beggar
the 3 playable chars look boring as hell and their powers are even worse.  seriously no telekinesis, teleportation, weather control or telepathy ?
wbat's even worse is that Storm, Jean and Rogue are not even in the game while they put some of the new 2000s mutants in it and the X-Men are not even playable??
not much customization and no playable X-Men ? that has to be the worst use of the X-Men license next to X-Men : Ravages of Apocalypse
if they allow us to pick more powers and customize the character's looks this game wouldn't suck as much as it looks now
Soul Calibur and even WWE had much better customization features

I dont mind having those custom players but, that's so stupid to me that the game is called "X-Men Destiny" but you can't play with any of the X-men or brotherhood.
I don't think i'll get this game when it comes out.I mean when it comes out i would want to watch gameplay videos and review's then think about it.
I think we were all excited when we heard about this cause we thought we could play with either the xmen or brotherhood. And choose sides reallly disappointed at what they were really talking about.

ONE more thing where's is Jean,Storm, and Rogue??
Even if jean's dead where's rogue and storm? Especially storm she and wolvie are the most popular x-men so why haven't i heard or seen storm yet o_0

Jean being dead is the lamest excuse ever. What about Pyro and Nightcrawler? Looks like Storm won't even have the wallpaper effect like she does in the comics. Then again I'd rather not have her than her being reduced to a background character like some lame B-list hero.

I like it how people call this game bad and all without ever trying it. I know it's not out yet, but come on! Why do you have to pick on everything you don't like in this game? You don't even want to give it a chance. And also, I can't believe how people think that a game can't be good, because it lacks their favourite X-Women. Uhh...really? Especially since they haven't announced which mutants will be in the game, just announced some. So yeah, I'm sure I get it, because I'm OPEN for some new things, instead of having the same thing again just getting worse (Oh hey! MUA 2 was like XML or MUA (nobrainer) but wasn't as good as those, huh? what do you think, what would have happened, if it would have been like MUA or XML? Worse than MUA 2? But, as long as you can play with your favourite X-Women, anything is golden, eh?)

Agree.
The game doesn't look that bad and I might give it a try, mostly because the fact that you can add "x-genes" from known characters, that sounds interesting to me.
But I'm kind of dissapointed due the fact that you can't customize the look of your characters (that's my biggest "meh" about this game), I mean there's a lot of games where you can create your own character and give them the look that you want (I love soul calibur 4, for example).
Perhaps they will add that characteristic later, I don't know, but I don't feel any empathy with the 3 original characters, in other words, they don't make me wanna play with them... let's see, we have the bulky one, the nerdy one and the emo one lol, not really the type of characters that I like lol.
I would like to have some X-men to be playable, but it's not the most important thing to me, besides I'm glad that they are (finally) following the current continuity of comics.
We'll see.

Well, indeed. I believe, that all we need is sandbox free-roam and customizing the looks of our characters on a bigger scale (we will be able to change clothes) and this could be the best Marvel game ever (why won't they ever make such a game? it's obvious this would be the best)

Well IM just saying that im disappointed that you can't play with the X-men or brotherhood.I never said anything about the graphics they look just as good as MUA 2.

I really just dont like how the other 3 custom characters look, and in the trailers they show the same powers over and over.So idk im just saying that i would look at gameplay videos and reviews before i buy this

DC Universe Online puts this game to shame,

I wish it was Marvel Universe Online

Thank you! lol Why aren't those most popular females of X-Men in this game, I understand bringing in new characters into the game world, but come on! >_< It aggravates me so bad... not just because Rogue's not in it, but Storm isn't either... nor Jean. And why does the only girl that you plays as look like Jubilee? 0_o Messed up, I tell ya... lol

I wouldn't completely brand this game awful already.  I got a chance to play the demo at San Diego Comic-Con International, and I did find those ten-ish minutes of the game to be very enjoyable.  So its not XML3, but that doesn't mean it will be awful.

I'll take your word for that ragin. :) Plus, I have almost every single X-Men videogame starting from PSOne. Might as well add it too. lol. I just hope the next X-Men videogame that's released (if there is one after this) is focused on the X-Men and not some random made up character. It would have been nice to see good graphics for a XML3 game XD

Just a note on this,  I'm willing to bet that Jean, Storm, Psylocke, and Rogue are all not in the game because the game is set in the point when the X-Men are based in San Francisco, and none of these characters were with the X-Men at the time. (correct me if I'm wrong)  Jean is dead, Storm was in Wakanda, Psylocke was with the Exiles until the events of the Sisterhood arc in Uncanny X-Men, and Rogue was off with Gambit and Danger until the events of Utopia.  So the game is trying to stay true to the comics, which I like.

Storm was technically part of the team but just a background character (which every X-Man has become these days besides a select few).

However Magneto was not leader of the Brotherhood and nor were Mystique and Juggernaut. Professor X was not dead while Pyro was. So the game isn't true to the comics which is what bugs me that they're trying to pass it off like it is.

Same here. Emma has a very unique style that looks really good on her but not on others. If I preorder the game I'll probably get the Havok suits (love the Tron look) although I prefer Emma's astral powers. I've heard that Emma's suit is actually in the game and Amazon only gives you earlier access to it.

So tried it and the game is pretty good. The graphics aren't as bad in game and the gameplay is pretty fun. I've already met many X-Characters: Cyclops, Emma Frost, Gambit, Iceman, Northstar, Mystique, Pyro, Toad, Quicksilver, Magneto, Caliban, Pixie, Nightcrawler, and Cameron Hodge.

So far I'm using Aimi with energy powers and I'm enjoying the game but I must say that i don't feel as connected to the new characters as I do with the established ones. I actually prefer finding the X-Genes and using those X-Men abilities and I'm sure many others will too.

The Juggernaut and Emma costumes are already in game so I hope nobody pre-ordered from BestBuy or Amazon :D

Haven't tried the Havok costumes yet but should by tommorrow or Friday. The gameplay is pretty fun and I finally got to meet Colossus, Surge, and Wolverine.

The X-Genes are by far my fav part. You can run with superspeed like Northstar or Surge, sprint like Gambit, phase through enemies like Psylocke, and use earth vibrations to move like Avalanche. Iceman has a boost where you are coated in ice to block damage. Some X-Genes even change your power color like Juggernaut has red/brown, Emma has psychic white, Iceman with icy blue, etc.

Im also using Aimi with Energy powers,

Still looking for Genes like Emma's and Jugs, already, I also got 3 saves (the characters with their normal power Aimi = energy grant = mass control (or however its called) and that other guy shadow matter)

Current equipment is Offesive Avalanche gene, defensive Iceman gene, and the other is a juggernaut gene

If anyone knows the location of the Emma gene and perhaps havok gene, please say so :D xD

Wow the ds version really sounds bad. That explains why on the cover they removed two of the three destiny characters.

I believe X-Genes are random. In one playthrough the first X-Gene you find might be Cyclops Defensive while another playthrough will give you Juggernaut Suit in that same spot. I ended up collecting all of Juggernaut and Iceman's stuff and most of Cyclops, Psylocke, and Emma's.

I actually think its a decent game, sure the story's a bit short, which I guess is one of the reasons to put 3 characters in
and much wanted X-men dont appear (storm phoenix psylocke) although Betsy does have a Costume etc.

Its actually kinda stupid, they don't even appear yet they do have stuff in game (avalanche and betsy)

also, was anyone able to find SOMETHING related to Havok? Im becoming pretty sure he was only dlc

For me the biggest thing is that I don't own a PS3 or an XBOX 360 but I saw the gameplay/story on youtube and I didn't like the game at all. You can't play with any of the known mutants like wolverine, Cyclops or Magneto.

And I would rely like to be an x-men (wolverine) and battle Magneto, Bastion and the sentinels with Cyclops, Gambit, Storm and other x-men at my side. Or be Magneto and lead the Brotherhood.
So because of that I wouldn't buy the game even if it came out on the PC.
