Title: Dark Phoenix Beta (Final? Updated 05/12/08)
Post by: matt710 on June 03, 2007, 07:01PM
 :phoenix: Here is the download for Dark Phoenix.  I label this a Beta because most of the bugs are ironed out.  She doesn't seem to crash anymore on my new game, which is good.  Nodoubt_jr also said his didn't crash either.  This fixes most of the surface bugs except the fact that Phoenix Force and Space Warp Inferno don't use energy.  This is weird to me becasue they have definistions under PWR.  Also the only thing I can think is strange is that dark shield's animations won't change even when I try to change them.  If anybody finds any other bugs or solutions to what I said please post it.

ooh i can't wait...so just to check with you guys, everytime there is a new modified version, we gotta start a new game again right?
Title: Re: Dark Phoenix Beta
Post by: matt710 on June 04, 2007, 05:09AM
generally only if there is any major change.  The changes done to her were minimal, I think just skins and conversation icons.  Nothing was really done to anything too major.  So you should be fine without starting a new game since mainly graphics were changed, as long as you started a new game with the previous version.

My pitiful attempt to make a new skin for Dark Phoenix:  :bawling:

Anybody know a better skin to try as a base?  Good thing I caught this early enough by testing to see where certain things went.

Matt, I was wondering about the same thing 2 hours ago... except that I was think about a skin for MUA instead. :thumbsup:
I think that White Queen skin you converted back in early May would be a great candidate for XML2:

Far right:

Post by: matt710 on June 04, 2007, 09:41PM
Actually the one on the right I never converted.  It was the classic white queen with the corsette and cape.  If I do that one she will have a cape, but it may be the only choice I have since I don't know how to edit xml1 skins or else I would have totally tried the one you pictured.   :(

Post by: iammingy on June 04, 2007, 09:42PM
Really? Oh sorry... false alarm... let me help you find another one.

EDIT: I forgot that it was ripped from PS2. I don't know how to edit those either... :(

Post by: matt710 on June 04, 2007, 09:45PM
Thanks, there are plenty of xml1 skins that I thought of fooling around with, but I can never find the offsets or anything looking remotely similar to the skins.

Thats actually a great idea.  I never thought of her cause I never really saw her since she wasn't shown in the game.  Thanks
Title: Re: Dark Phoenix Beta
Post by: matt710 on June 04, 2007, 09:57PM
Actually after I do that one I was thinking of doing this one for her.  Polaris will be an excellent base for both.

Post by: iammingy on June 04, 2007, 09:59PM
Hey... before you start skinning, I recommend you reskin the whole BMP white and insert it back into the skin, just to see if the skin has any unwanted "bumps" in the game. In this case, your time and effort won't be wasted. :)

Ah... more boob jobs for you... lol

Thanks I will look into that.  After I do some skin work I will go back to modding.  I just want to take a little break before I start up again.  Another reason is I want to wait until I see how Havok and Dark Phoenix fare bugwise.

I know this may not belong here but anyway thanks again nodoubt_jr because I tested Emma's skin to see if I can flesh out her costume by doing a little section and it worked.  Did you ever think her costume could get any skimpier?  Well it can!

Rough copy of Dark Phoenix's new skin.  I am having a problem with the black line around her chin.  It doesn't want to go away!!!   :banghead:  If it doesn't work, she may just get a spiffy new collar.   :D

Post by: Roxx on June 06, 2007, 06:28AM
I have a problem.
When I go to the team management screen,Dark Phoenix become a lock Character!
How to make her to be a existing character??  :phoenix:
Title: Re: Dark Phoenix Beta
Post by: matt710 on June 06, 2007, 08:28AM
Then you probably replaced either professor x, ironman, or deadpool with dark phoenix right?  Either that or you used the extra spot.  The only way to unlock her is to use the unlock all characters code.  The cheat is:  Right, Left, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Start (best done with a game pad).
Title: Re: Dark Phoenix Beta
Post by: Roxx on June 06, 2007, 08:33AM
No,I replaced Bishop.
After that,when I ran the game,Bishop can use,Dark phoenix lock :banghead:
Is that cheat can use in PC??
Title: Re: Dark Phoenix Beta
Post by: BliZZ on June 06, 2007, 08:33AM
Or you can script her being unlocked after beating the tutorial......
Title: Re: Dark Phoenix Beta
Post by: Roxx on June 06, 2007, 08:55AM
How to do that??
Title: Re: Dark Phoenix Beta
Post by: Teancum on June 06, 2007, 09:05AM
1-Open tutorial1.py with notepad
2-Add unlockCharacter('darkphoenix', ' ') to the bottom
3-Start a new game.  When you get to the save point in Avalon she'll be unlocked

hey matt710 while you are working on an Emma skin do you think maybe you can give her a diamond form skin, one were her skin looks diamond like?  i want to change her diamond form boost, so that when she uses it she changes into a different diamond form, and when the boost is over she changes back to her human looking skin (kind of like Magma and her Magma Form in XML1)
Title: Re: Dark Phoenix Beta
Post by: matt710 on June 07, 2007, 08:01AM
Sure I can try.  But wouldn't we have to have one for each skin?  I thought only her skin changed to diomond and not her clothing.
Title: Re: Dark Phoenix Beta
Post by: nodoubt_jr on June 07, 2007, 09:04AM
yep only skin, i didnt really think of needing multiple diamond forms for multiple customes because i mostly just use her XML1 custome.

http://www.silverbulletcomics.com/img/product_images/propic-93365-01-full.jpg

edit: i might actually instead do a skin like this
(http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y170/nodoubt_jr/husk19.jpg)

so that it can go with any custome she wears, she just changes to a naked all diamond form

Certainly not to derail you from making the skin, because it would look very cool, but I do believe that that particular picture is of Paige Guthrie, aka Husk.

Which could make for a somewhat interesting mod in and of herself. The GenX kids all need more love...
Title: Re: Dark Phoenix Beta
Post by: nodoubt_jr on June 07, 2007, 08:58PM
yeah i know its Husk, it just the best picture i could find of what i wanted for the diamond form, cant seem to find one of Emma all naked and shiny, lol

i got the idea for a skin switch after working on magma

Here are two pics.  One shows 3 skins that came out pretty good and the other shows the 2 of phoenix that came out horrible.  I gave up on the phoenix ones because no matter what a do she has bloches on her cheeks.  But Emma's nude Diamond Form came out lovely, and was so easy too.

Good point, I forgot she still uses her powers for it.  Maybe if we can figure out if we can do differnt diamond forms for different clothing we can use the one I already made for unbreakable.  She still would use her powers but it still would be kinda cool. (even though it won't make sense  :lickout:)
Title: Re: Dark Phoenix Beta (Update)
Post by: matt710 on June 13, 2007, 10:28PM
I have update files to go along with my Dark Phoenix mod.  It adds her AOA and Dark Future Costumes to the roster with new conversation huds to go along with them.  The skins can be seen here:  http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=572.15

This file has the skins, hud heads (conversation), package files, loading screen (just to see if it would work  :)) and an updated herostat in text form.  There is a readme in the zip file to tell you where to put the stuff.

So without further adeu.  Here is the link to download it:

PS:  Havok will be updated as well by Friday morning.

Havok won't get done until I can figure out how to do his 3d hud.  But I did add another skin to dark phoenix's wardrobe.  It is the end Madeline.  Enjoy!

@ Matt710 -- You should just be able to reskin Havok's 3D hud like any other one, but if you're having trouble just post which skin you want the HUD for.  I'll do one up for you on Sunday/Monday.

Thanks I got it.  I was just confused that I saw a whole body.  I just assumed that since it was a hud head it would only be the head.  But anyway, I did one for Havok and the update for him will be ready by tomorrow.

How do you install the downloads into the game. I am having trouble with that. I know I downloaded it correctly I just dont know how to install them into the game.
Title: Re: Dark Phoenix Beta (Updated 06/14)
Post by: matt710 on June 19, 2007, 10:35PM
Just move the files where the readme directs.  There are three downloads for the mod (1 base and 2 updates) so make sure you have all of them.  Also you have to get xmlbcui to edit the herostats.  Once you have it you have to decompile the herostats.engb, add the phoenix herostats from the last update (just either paste in the one extra slot in xmlb or paste over an existing character), and recompile.  If you need any clarification feel free to ask.

Look for an update coming soon. (1-2 days)

It will include:

9 skins total
new, non-conflicting character selection portrait
New load screens (which you will be able to pull up in the review screen)
New comic with boosts (I don't know how to put it in the game, but it should work with the all comics code)

I will do this after finishing an update on Emma

(the 9th skin:)

Just to let everybody know I added a load screen and comic for Dark Phoenix in this thread:

http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=710.0

There is a text file which shows the format for compiling it.  Just do a search for the characters you want (load and comic) and add them to your review_paths.engb.

Enjoy!

Post by: matt710 on July 05, 2007, 10:08PM
I'll see what I can do.  That was only an alpha of the skin anyway.  I just released it as a place holder.  It is easy to make red heads out of brunettes and vice versa.  But try to lighten and darken the hair too much and then you got a problem.  It is kind of either loosing texture or color.  What I might do is do some pasting to paste emma's hair from her xml1 skin and see how that works.

Thanks!  I will be sure to put it in Jean's skin collection.  Since I am just about done with playable and npc Goblin Queen, I will be adding dark phoenix under 02 to free up 153 and do some minor thing with Jean Grey.  So do you mind if I release your skin in a pack for Goblin Queen, Dark Phoenix, and Jean Grey, I will give the credit to you for the skin.

You can use the PS2Skinner (http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=755.0) to circumvent the hex-editting troubles... The program works fine for inserting and extracting DDS files from PS2 models. The only thing you have learn is to find offsets for textures and palettes in PS2 models.

Oh ok thanks.  Do you have the offsets for this one?  The reason I ask is because I have other skins based off the phoenix one that I wish I could get rid of the sash.  And it is also a good base for long-haired females.  Thanks

A weird thing now that I changed dark phoenix to 02 her and goblin queen cannot be together on a team together because it crashes.  Should I put one of them on a different number? Maybe 3 on the same number is too much.

Nope I just tried.  They just can't stand to be together I guess.  They worked when Dark Phoenix was 153 if I remembered correctly.  I will try that since I still have the 153 files in my game. (they are just inactive)

I guess it would be but I am kind of done with skins for her, now I just have to finish her last one (Emma Frost Dark Phoenix).  Feel free to do it if you want or if anybody else does.

Here is an update of her.  This fixes the hair on skin 0259 so it doesn't look greenish, updates her ps adn talent files for her Cosmic Goddess and Force Mastery to get rid of little bugs, and gives a new icon for Force Mastery cause it was the easiest to change rather than changing Emma's or Goblin Queen's.

hey i got her special aura to work, i set it up as a powerup, so it remains on the whole time.  It doesnt look too cool, but it completes the character.

just add these lines to the powersytle
   event {
   inherit = powerup ;
   life = -1 ;
   name = phoenixaura ;
   no_stack = true ;
   tag_name = aura_on ;
      special_fx {
      bolt = Bip01 Spine1 ;
      effect = char/drkphoenx/special_aura ;
      fxlevel = 1 ;
      how_used = primary ;
      }

   }

   FightMove {
   animenum = ea_idle1 ;
   handler = ch_idle ;
   lockchaining = false ;
   name = idle ;
   noncombat = true ;
      trigger {
      name = phoenixaura ;
      time = 0 ;
      }

      chain {
      action = walk ;
      result = walk ;
      }

      chain {
      action = jog ;
      result = jog ;
      }

      chain {
      action = run ;
      result = run ;
      }

      chain {
      action = sprint ;
      result = sprint ;
      }

      chain {
      action = strafeleft ;
      result = strafeleft ;
      }

      chain {
      action = straferight ;
      result = straferight ;
      }

      chain {
      action = advance ;
      result = advance ;
      }

      chain {
      action = retreat ;
      result = retreat ;
      }

      chain {
      action = guard ;
      result = guarddecide ;
      }

      chain {
      action = attack ;

Thanks.  Maybe that could be her glow for Cosmic Goddess.  I also realised that an important aspect of her is missing.   She never dies.  I am going to experiment with a passive to make it so she has a chance to resurrect.  Probably in Force Mastery.

ghost rider has a passive that allows him to have a chance to ressurect a fallen teammate, maybe you can alter it to allow her to be ressurected.

Post by: matt710 on October 03, 2007, 08:15PM
Ok I did the whole chance of ressurection thing.  After about 10 different tries I got one to work.  Anyway I also added the special aura that nodoubt_jr showed.  She has a 25%-75% chance of ressurecting her with 10%-100% HP.  I had to add it to her idle and make the life -1.  Works well, but remember not to depend on it too much cause even at her highest level there is a chance it will not happen and if she is the only party member left it will not give her a chance to ressurect.  After I finish some other things I will upload it.  I have 4 projects running at the same time so I am trying to devote 30% Dark Phoenix, 30% Black Cat, 30% Emma Frost skins, and 10% MUA 2nd Xtremes.  Once either of the first 3 are done it should make the others go a lot faster.

Link to a catelog site I am doing.  It isn't meant to look pretty but more to show the costumes from X-Men: Next Dimension.  Currently Dark Phoenix is up, soon I will do Mystique and Rogue.  Gives skinners ideas possibly.  Click on her picture to see her costumes.
I will be doing costume 1a and 3a.  4b was a cool color swap.

Are those costumes based on the designs from comics or are they made up for X:ND?

Sorry, I am not very familiar with Jean Grey/Phoenix/Dark Phoenix...

I like 3a and b personally.
Title: Re: Dark Phoenix Beta (Updated 07/31)

Based on both actually.  Some are for XM:ND, some are based fully on comics, and some are alterations of real costumes from comics.

Mystique was upped.  I personally like 1a and 4a. Too bad we couldn't just port the skins in...  Oh well that is what custom skinning is for.

@ Crescent_Jason -- the animations won't convert to MUA PSP, but the powerstyle, effects, and talents (which are basically text files that contain commands and such) will.  You'll still have to use MUA PSP animations.  If the skins are PS2 skins they will convert fine.

Just a quick question.
Is everything included in the Dark_Phoenix_Update_2.6, or do I need to download the other files as well?
Looks good, can't wait to try it out.

Thanks.  I have been down for a long time due to computer issues, so I don't remember if that is the final version where she has a chance to ressurect herself with Force Mastery.  I will probably be back up in a week or two when I can get my hands on a computer that will be able to handle xml2, since the original computer I was using was fried and doesn't stay on for more than 5 minutes without giving up.  But look for a few updates and boosters when I get back into bussiness.

It doesn't mention resurrection in Force Mastery, and Cosmic Immunity is locked. I looked in the files and it requires 'dark_hardened' to receive points, but there isn't anything called dark_hardened.

Ok, the edition on the board is proabably not the updated version I have.  I will have to up the better version tomorrow, if I still have the most up to date version that is.  Worst case scenario it will just have to wait until I update it again when I am up and running.

Alrighty, Dark Phoenix is almost done (just skins have to be added).  Her sounds are great, especially the phoenix sound fx during some of her moves.  I ripped 2 phoenix sounds from the 90's series that go well with the mod.  The other thing I did was add about 6 sound files extra for Goblin Queen since they both use darkp_m (makes sense since they are both dark forms of Jean).

Dark Phoenix Final?? Update by Matt710

Note thank you everyone for their help.  Thanks nodoubt_jr for supplying the bases for the
madeline skin, entities, talents, powerstyles, herostats, and for Jean's XML1 sounds.  I
converted the white phoenix skin from Darkmythology's MUA Phoenix mod.  Also thanks to
shafcrawler for supplying the Dark Phoenix X3 skin and 3d hud.  I converted all skins to PS2 format.

Dark Phoenix Mod Update :

10 Skins
10 Conversation Huds
4 3D Huds (with one alternate)
1 Menu Portrait (with an alternate)
Abilities added to PSP version
Working sound (complete)
Updated Icons from PSP version

New to this version:

Updated 0259 skin and hud so hair doesn't have the two tone area.
Force Mastery also has a chance to ressurect her.
Added shafcrawler's skin and 3d hud.
Added sounds!!!!!
Cleaned up the skins.

If you would like to use the original skin set from the previous update replace 61 in the herostat with 58.

The skins are:

51 - Dark Phoenix (Original)
52 - Phoenix (Green with muted yellows)
53 - White Phoenix of the Crown         (Made by DarkMythology's)
55 - Goblin Queen (Original)         (Template by Nodoubt_jr)
56 - Dark Future
57 - AOA Dark Phoenix
58 - Goblin Queen (The End) <not in herostats>
59 - Dark Phoenix (Emma Frost)
60 - Black Queen (Dark Phoenix)
61 - X3 Dark Phoenix              (Made by Shafcrawler)

Oops I forgot to mention that if you don't like the new 3d HUD for 0259 (Emma Phoenix), just delete 0259.igb and rename 0259.igb.bak to 0259.igb in the ui/hud/characters directory.  I also swapped her menu_goodbye and menu_action, so if you happened to have Jean and her in the same party their goodbyes would be different.  I hope you all like her with complete glorious sound.

Do you still have any locked characters in your roster?  If so she is probably locked.  Also you will have to start a new game if you added her as your extra character instead of replacing an existing.

Do you use a controller?  If so there is a code, but it doesn't work with the keyboard for some strange reason.

Here it is:

Right, Left, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Start  (In the change character menu)

Alrighty here is a fixed version of Dark Phoenix.  It seems that her PSP original referenced flight only in her powerstyle, which I did.  This seemed to be problematic with the PC version, so I fixed it so that it is like normal PC characters.  I also added a line in the herostats so that she can detect stealth enemies (she has the sounds for it) and another skin.

(http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/4527/darkphoenixpreun0.jpg)

The skin is from X-Men: Next Dimension and is costume 4b.  I added this to flush out the one Goblin Queen skin so that if you have both on your team you will not get confused.  It (skin 0262) is not, however, referenced in the herostat, so you will have to replace skin 55 (Goblin Queen Classic) with skin 62 if you have the Goblin Queen on your team as well.

Here is the update:
