the next spiderman game (edge of time) has been announced. full article here:
http://marvel.com/news/story/15531/spider-man_edge_of_time_hits_this_fall
the story: 616 and 2099 spiderman team up to set the time stream back to normal.
release date: set for this fall
I've just read about it at www.gamestar.hu and I wait it. And I wonder how will they make the "what happens in one of the timestreams it will affect the other one" thing.
Dang it! I wanted a web of shadows 2! Oh well. maybe next time. This better be good!
I really hope the gameplay is better than Shattered Dimensions. The linear brawler game style doesn't suit Spidey games at all. The sandbox style suits him much better. If they render open world 616 and 2099 universes, I would be ecstatic.
Yeah. Free-Roam would be so epic to Spider-Man Edge Of Time. I don't care how you choose which dimension. I'm happy as long the game gets open world gameplay.
I agree, I DEFINITELY want free roam, unlockable costumes, DLC, and symbiotes! If not symbiotes, then robots! If not robots, then mutants!
If not mutants, then unicorns! If not unicorns, then some Spidey foes, who haven't been used in every single Spidey game!
I hope we have some real Earth 616 Green Goblin action and a bit of hobgoblin(earth 616) too.I really miss gobs. And I hope it takes place in the big time saga so that we have all those cool suits also. And I dont want mysterio to be in the game.
Yeah. Didn't mysterio like, kill himself? And that would actually be pretty sick if spider-man had to fight unicorns!
I hope we have extra suits with special powers.

IGN has the debut trailer and pictures of Spider-Man Edge Of Time. The Gameplay is a bit like Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions. The story doesn't have any connection to Shattered Dimensions, but the mechanics on the gameplay and graphics are pretty much the same.
I will be disappointed if it doesn't have free roam. I mean, level based games just is not who spider-man is. He doesn't just beat up venom and go to level 6, he swings around NYC and fights like that. Shattered dimensions was great and all, but it would have been way better if the dimensions had free roam in it. The game would have lasted much longer and would have been more fun. I like being able to be different characters in games. So they should totally bring back the ability to be venom in this game, just like in the game Ultimate spider-man. If not in this game, then maybe in the next, but that would be awesome though, because venom also exists in the 2099 universe.
Wow, it looks like a crappy copy of Shattered Dimensions, but with half of it gone... I think I've decided that Beenox needs to go die. I don't like what they've done with the Spider-Man game franchise.
Even most of the attacks are same and the game looks boring.I'd better play Web of Shadows and I consider it to be the best spiderman game till date.
I agree, I would rather play Web of Shadows again and again than play another Shattered Dimensions.
Looks liked 2099 styles has been reused. Even the 2099 characters & locations models has been reused from Shattered Dimensions part. Speaking of that reused 2099 style. Amazing/Mainstream characters were somewhat revamped to 2099 styles. This is exactly why Marvel had an interest to Beenox to put in charge of the Marvel's Activision games. No more DLC limits.
This game sucks. Get Dimensions and skip the part where you can play Noir and Ultimate than you have Edge of Time. Im only gonna buy it if it is free roam. F*** you Beenox !!!!
That's right
Free Roam or nothing
(I'll buy the game anyway -.-)

I also agree, Web of Shadows is officially my favorite spidey game. It looks good with skins and is AMAZINGLY fun to play.
Yeah. And if the developers wish to make good spidey games ,they should make a sandbox style game like web of shadows, but would have a spidey 2099 and the futuristic city.Same for Noir. This will make the gamers explore the game more.I hope everyone gets the idea.
Sandbox or maybe some part from Google Earth as Spider-Man 3 should do it. They should put Noir's in. Is it OK to put Ultimate's in.
I dunno about Ultimate. It kind of seems too similar to the 616 Universe, for it to make sense in a game at least. I mean, we have the Ultimate Spider-Man game, and while it was okay for what it was, I don't know that needs to be revisited in a newer sandbox game.
I will say one thing about Beenox, despite their horrible game mechanics, and the little nitpicking I could do (2099's claws bug me, Amazing's whole body design and his universe's color scheme makes it unappealing and ugly). While I don't think it should become the trend in Spidey games, I like the idea of playing as Spider-Men from different universes. That is one of the interesting and unique things about Marvel, all the different continuities.
As I've been thinking about it, creating sandbox worlds for Noir, or 2099 would be difficult to pull off. The creators of Spider-Man games would have to pony up and get off their butts, that's for sure.
Making 1930s NY interesting for Noir Spidey to run around in would be especially difficult, as the areas with tall buildings was much smaller, so swinging would probably be less fun, like swinging around in Queens in the earlier games.
When it comes to 2099, you run into the issue of buildings being TOO tall. Does anyone who read the comics remember early on when Miguel falls into the "Undercity", which was just old New York. It was a completely different world. Rendering a city on top of a decrepit city, and allowing Spidey to interact with both would be a HUGE venture (<- Heh, heh) which might not even be possible at this point, especially if we want other Universes. Personally, a game dealing with a more classic Spidey 2099 (Not Beenox's manicured speed freak.), and leaving it with his story, perhaps updated, would be fantastic. And it would be that new take on the franchise that everyone is looking for. Then again I like Sci-Fi, and the 2099 stuff always wowed me.
Speaking of 2099 villain came back to Mainstream/Amazing timeline & Noir segments. What if the 2099 villains have a better idea to extinguish Spider-Man incarnation existense in Noir timeline other than Amazing timeline would be bad idea.
spiderman edge of time with anti venom might be cool? :venom:
I heard that anti venom is in it as a villan. Spiderman 2099 saves spidermans life too i think and spidey helps the spidey of 2099
:spiderman: :venom: :venom2: ;)
Well, at the very least they're finally getting body proportions right. WoS Spider-Man looked like bloody advanced anorexia settled in. SD had it right, he looked like a healthy fit person - it even reminded me of 90s animated series.
Edge of time is most probably gonna be like a platformer like shattered dimensions. But I hope they do make it free roam with like cool abilities and upgrades like in spiderman 2. I think it could be free roam because there are only 2 spidermen and so the game would be a little easier to make free roam. There should be another web of shadows type of game. only spiderman, hulk and iron man has been free roam otherwise x men is not free roam. Ironman game which was ultimate disaster, it could have been much better if it had city to free roam in. Hope activision and beenox try to make spiderman more open world with miscellaneous things to do in the city.
I hope Anti-Venom is also playable by taking Amazing Spider-Man (except on the final missions, just liked Dante in DMC4 replaced Nero) & uses some of the Ultimate Spidey's Black Suit terminology.
Release date: 4th of October
Mary Jane and Cat will also be in this game....
Mary Jane will probally be the person screaming around doing nothing, but im intressted how Black Cat will turn out

I hope it's on VITALICIOUS too soon after we've seen 3DS in the same graphic as PS3/360's
Can someone here post a pic of the Ben reilly spider-Man costume from the game? I heard it was unlockable for the 2099 universe.
Wait, what? Ben Reily? For 2099? But he's only for Amazing as Scarlet Spider I
Get the game. You'll see what I'm talking about. In order to unlock that costume you have to get all of the silver medals in web of challenges (specifically the challenges that grant you a costume key.) Once you have that key you can use it to unlock any costume you wish, and that costume can be used at any time. But in order to be used perminently there is a costume vault found in chapter 11. Put the key into the vault and you have access to new costumes. I have not been able to acquire the ben reilly spider-man costume as of yet. the challenges are really hard when my characters aren't fully upgraded

**Hydra
**Peter Parker 2099 CEO Civilian (as seen in cinematic where the younger meet his future-self, i wish he supposed to be sell his soul to the new Black Symbiote Venom Suit)
**Peter Parker 2099 CEO Battle Armor (also used for the boss version)
Amazing's Costumes
*Shattered Dimensions Costumes
**Amazing Spider-Man (updated)
**The Bombastic Bag-Man
**Scarlet Spider
**Secret War Spider-Man
**Amazing Cosmic Spider-Man
**Negative Zone Suit Spider-Man version 1 (Noir's Costume)

**Black Suit Spider-Man (much different than the Ultimate once from Shattered Dimensions. As a matter a fact that this is not Ultimate's & i had a feeling that this is not an alien suit, but the FF's dupe suit that could match to the alien black suit, w/out any negative side-effects)
**New Ultimate/Miles Morales (of course, the original Ultimate Spidey is dead)
**Masked Marvel
This game looked so awesome, till I figured out Noir and Ultimate weren't in. Thant's about the time when I started punchin my monitor.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xnwu9mfTgHs - 4:18 for Ben Reilly
Hey did you guys get the Identity Crisis suits for the game?
I hope some of Ultimate & Noir's Costumes from Shattered Dimensions as DLC along w/ the unmasked characters+Amazing's New Cosmic Black Suit (not the real alien black suit, but duplicate, liked i told y'guys accoding to the comic book that could match the real alien suit):
2099:
*Spider-Man Noir
*Electro Proof Suit
*Cosmic Spider-Man Noir
*Miguel O'Hara Civilian
*Miguel O'Hara Unmasked
Amazing:
*Original Noir Concept
*Mangaverse
*Black Suit Cosmic (THX to Ultimate Black Suit Cosmic from Shattered Dimension, which may proceed of this idea)
*Peter Parker Civilian Bugle
*Peter Parker Unmasked
There is nothing high tech about the ben reilly spider-man costume in this game. It looks a lot like Mark Bagley's take on the costume in terms of the overall design. But as to why Miguel is wearing the costume, the developers added a little citation that miguel "heard" about ben's heroism and sacrifice. Thus he wears the suit to pay homage to reilly. This has never happened in the comics, its just Beenox's justification for an extra suit. I just wish the two spidey's fought side by side though, with one acting as an npc. it would be fun to see two spidey's on the same screen engaging in fights together.

Give the man a cookie, this is spot on in this game.
yeeh, cookie:)
Even though I managed to unlock the reilly spider-man costume, I still would like to post a 360 degree pic of what the costume looks like in the actual game. anyone here know how to do that on a ps3? I think if I actually posted a picture it would help a modders out here make a really nice spider-ben for various games like Spider-Man SSD, Web of shadows etc.
sorry to go off topic, but i have been working on a ben reilly skin for WoS for some time now. eversince i found out that ben's spidey costume is an alt for 2099, it really made me want to improve and finish my WoS mod, as i had originally made this mod for my brother. we're both looking forward to playing EoT (i'll be amazing, my bro will be 2099 in ben's costume). hope a PC version comes out soon. PC isnt everything you know. I agree I love PC games just as much as the next person, but Xbox 360 and PS3 is where its at now. This game seems pretty cool and im not a Spidey fan at all. It seems like you think the game sucks if its on anything but PC and if its on PC its the best game in the world.
i'm hoping for a PC version too cuz i don't have an Xbox 360 or PS3. the way i see it, since WoS and SD were ported to PC, i see no reason why EoT wouldn't do the same.

That looks really fantastic. If Edge of Time makes it to the PC, I hope you can make some fixes to the Ben Reilly costume in that game. It looks great in the front, but in the back, the red section doesn't run down in a triangle shape.

so i've got some news that's neither bad.. nor good. out of impatience, i emailed beenox, asking if there will be a PC release for EoT. surprinsgly, i got an answer the next day.

@deedoo say. Are the VIP codes some kind of FREE DLC or Unlock code by entering at VIP Menu?
just put it in the code menue on the main screen

So basically they're going "Hey guys, our game is a rehash of last year's game, but we want to squeeze some more cash out of it, so find us 200 000 morons that we can sell this to and they'll thank us for being cheap-asses."
I Think Marvel is starting to lose its touch, with everything, but mainyl video games. All these Spierman games although they have some good arent as good as they could be, same with X-Men Destiny although that is just bad. MUA2 for me started the whole games going down spiral, and all these new games prove just that.
X-men origins wolverine was pretty good, so was shattered dimensions (after MUA2)
Edge of time was decent at the very most as story could have been better, then again it isn't Marvel who make the video games, so you can't fault them, they just think up a draft, gameplay-wise they are the ones that pitch what they want and then hand it to Beenox (in this case) to do the development

Well I think in general Marvel is starting to lose their touch, most of their video games included (recent tho) even if its not their fault the games could use more work and I agree Origins was good!
I think it is that (especially for Spidey games) they have switched game developers. That was the worst move in my opinion, and at the worst time. Web of Shadows was an epic Spider-Man game. It actually did Web Head justice, had an amazing, original story, and it was ungodly smooth. After playing that, playing Shattered Dimensions felt like a really generic beat 'em up with Spider-Man slapped on it. Beenox can go suck an egg :p. I have made it a point not to play another Spider-Man game with their name on it. I haven't played the new X-Men, but it certainly looked shoddy. Marvel has so much potential, but they seem to be short-changing themselves on the gaming platform. Also, DK, I love you.
Edit: I will say one thing about EoT, they picked AMAZING alternate skins/models to use, and rendered them fantastically. That Poison almost made me poop my pants.

I think it was the other way on it, Web of Shadows had the worst voice acting in years and years and whoever voiced Spider-Man should just burn on a stake, the story was decent and I felt Wolverine's role in the story was terrible, shattered dimensions had a more interesting plot with the alternate universe thing and there are 4 different types of gameplay even though Amazing and Ultimate were somewhat similar
Beenox will be doing the free roam Amazing Spider-Man game as well so I am excited for that
all these are opinions though, feel free to not take them to heart

I was not aware that Beenox was going to make a free-roaming game. I suppose I will have to reevaluate them at that point. So far, though, they seem to be skimping a lot, and Spider-Man doesn't belong in a corridor based game, as much of SD was. As far as "Four different types of gameplay" goes, it had different ways to go about things, at first, but in essence, when the special stuff (Noir stealth, 2099 acrobatic scenes) was finished, it was just mashing on attack, with some block breakers thrown in. We have enough of those games already :p.
Agreed, Wolverine's role in WoS seemed tacked on, and the voice acting wasn't perfect, but I didn't need either of those things, because the story was conveyed differently, and the gameplay was both solid, and smooth.
All said and done though, Beenox releasing said open world Spidey game gives me hope, do you know what it is going to be called?

And knowing beenox this game will be chock full of alternate costumes. Cant wait to play as scarlet spider or as the ben reilly spidey in THIS game.
I for one will play as the Amazing suit, it is a good one in my opinion, I wouldn't mind future foundation, big time or a Spider Armour though

I don't know that I agree with you. It is grittier, that's for sure, so it looks used, which is good. But I think it would be difficult to find an average high-school student who could sew a costume that complex with those materials (My ex-girlfriend was a seamstress :p).
