I thought this could be fun. If there were to ever be a Marvel vs DC game (Which most likely will never happen) What characters would you think would be in it?
Put a character for both Marvel universe and DC universe, and then explain why they both should be featured in the game and the unique things they could do. If you want even try to make the duo a good versus pair!

Batman: Iconic, Storyline is interesting along with personality, uses weapons, so it gives people a tech character
Hawkgirl: Interesting costume, would be fun to use mace to smash things with
Vixen: Female, cool abilities (mystic gem that allows her to take on the abilities of different animals)
Black Canary: canary cry power is cool, also good female brawler
Zatara: Magical character
Zatana: father daughter duo team bonus, also magical character, could maybe make use of not being able to use abilities when she can't talk as a weakness
Secret: Interesting background, and cool powers, and maybe the cause of her death in relation to brother could make a awesome addition to storyline and boss fight with Harm.
Aqualad or Aquaman: cool powers in the sense of water hasn't really been used in a game so it would provide a unique set of powers.

Wasp: New and unique set of powers like aquaman/lad, female character
Cloak and dagger: duo as one character with them switching off for powers, kind-of like sheik and zelda for the SSB game, Cool powers
Iceman: Classic, good powers
Storm: Classic has wide array of potential powers
Boom Boom: Interesting powers providing cool visual effects
Stepford Cuckoos: interesting personality conflicts, telepathy
Legion: Multiple personality disorder would add some spice to the storyline, and Wide array of powers
Crystal: Cool powers and addition of earth water and wind powers would give her uniqueness
Deadpool: Funny personality and weapons specialist for people who like those abilities
Gambit: fun powers
Rogue: Cool powers, maybe she can absorb powers of people she defeated in a level (power absorbed would be like either she gets a blast power, a defensive power, or a melee power from them)
Songbird: Fun Unique powers with also a wrestler's background making her a good brawler also
Of course there would be many more from both DC and Marvel, but I think that these characters would bring a unique aspect and some are just really fun
actually a Marvel vs DC game could happen if Yoshinori Ono has his way

I know someone made a MUGEN version of Marvel vs DC, which was fun. But as long as Rogue and Wonder Woman are on it, I'd be happy. Love watching them battle it out.

LOL Thanks. That would be awesome to work on a game like that. For me I chose people that I thought were fun, unique, would add something interesting to the storyline (background of the character, personality, etc), also I tried to incorporate more of a balance of male and female. And I tried breaking away from characters that I thought are over used or to me didn't add anything fun to the story or didn't have very imaginative powers, for instance I didn't include characters like:

Spidey - (overused also like wolverine, and you can't expand much on powers)

This is my roster! As much as I love characters like Vision, Songbird, Polaris, etc. I'm going with a roster that makes the most sense. The top A-List heroes and villains from both universes. I just can't imagine the game developers giving up Spidey or Batman for Squirrel Girl and Plastic Man lol.
Aquman - unique with ocean/water powers
Batman - must have! one of the big three
Black Canary - female martial artist with sonic scream. what else?
Captain Marvel - classic hero. once more popular than Superman
Catwoman - iconic femme fatale. fun powerset
Darkseid - BIG villain of the DC universe
Deathstroke - "Original" Deadpool with stealthy powerset
Flash - very iconic and superspeed grants a unique powerset
Green Arrow - unique powerset with bow and arrow
Green Lantern - very iconic and goes well with the recent movie
Hawkgirl - sort of an unexpected character but fun to use
Joker - must have villain as Batman's archenemy!
Lex Luthor - must have villain as Superman's archenemy!
Nightwing - represents Batman world. Fan-favorite
Robin - pretty much save as Nightwing. But more iconic!
Sinestro - opposite of Green Lantern. Similar but also unique moves
Supergirl - girl power! Can have different style than Superman
Superman - must have! one of the big three
Wonder Woman - must have! one of the big three
Captain America - iconic hero of Marvel. Goes with Cap and Avengers movies
Daredevil - fan-favorite of Marvel characters. Needs more promotion
Deadpool - another biggie for Marvel. Very popular in recent years!
Doctor Doom - Marvel's major villain. He is another must-have
Doctor Strange - represents magic as the Sorceror Supreme
Green Goblin - one of Spidey's archenemies. Very fun powerset
Hulk - iconic hero of Marvel. Big, green, gamma bruiser
Iron Man - iconic hero of Marvel. Especially big from his movies
Magneto - another big villain of Marvel. Must-have for the X-Men
Ms. Marvel - girl power! Female tank and needs more promotion
Phoenix - fan-favorite for Marvel. Psychic and fire powers
Silver Surfer - needs a cosmic hero and Surfer fits best
Spider-Man - must have! Marvel's biggest character

I love everyones ideas! Marvelfan and 4Elements you guys went all out I like it :) I do agree tho I doubt the developers would let go of their prized possesions. And this would be like the game of the year it would be pretty big.

You know what's fun? Most of the characters you have wouldn't put in a game would be included if this game would be ever done, due to the fact, that they could sell the game easier with these :D Plus some others too, like Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor. So characters, who had their own movies would totally make the cut for a game like this :D
If Jean would get in they better not make her weak like MVC3 I dont even want her powerful, just like every other character
I like marvelfan's list. I'd only have nigtwing as an alternate costume for robin and have Martian Manhunter instead. I'd also replace Supergirl for Zatanna.
Lol I completely forgot those two! I'm not a big DC expert so not suprised I forgot Zatanna but I remember Martian Manhunter from the Justice League show. Totally weird that I forgot him.

I know that those characters are sellers, and I feel that that is something unfortunate, because other cool characters with cool backgrounds and interesting powers would never get used. For instance in my list I included characters like secret, vixen, and legion. Those 3 I think are really unique but not really mentioned a whole lot. But I only learned about Legion from the episode in the x-men evolution series, and I first saw vixen in the JL:U series, and also secret was just featured on the young justice series, and all of them had something interesting about them, but they don't seem to get much attention.
I'm not much of a comic book person myself. I like watching the shows and movies because for me it is easy to find a start to end sequence, in the sense that you can start a show from episode 1 and finish with the last episode, and movies you watch the movie from start to finish, with comics I think that it would be hard to find a place to start, or even where to start since there are so many universes and many different lines that intersect with each other. So my knowledge comes from movies and shows, and from characters that I research using the internet, which to some may not be a sufficient amount of knowledge.
Also I find it interesting that in your list of others that would definitely be in the game (Ironman, Hulk, Capt. America, and Thor) were all male including the ones you said that I wouldn't put in that would be in all but 1 was male. In my list I included mostly a mixed gender, but many of the superhero games have mostly male heroes. In my opinion (keyword opinion) a lot of the women have better powers that I think would be more fun to play as.
I think though that DC incorporates males and females more equally than marvel (at least with featuring them) or maybe that's just what I think.
Also just to note my list consists of people I think would be fun to play as, I didn't include villians (exept when I talked about story line like raven's dad trigon, emma frost's past with the inner circle, and secret's brother Harm as a boss fight). I also didn't include NPC's either.
Well, if you look at it, I named the characters, who had their movies, but you originally didn't name them. Of course, as most comic geeks, I have my own favourites of Marvel women, but still, if any kind of Marvel and DC game would be made, I would be the happiest, if it would be something like MUA, so that I could go around teaming with Deadpool, Nightwing (Dick Grayson is by far the coolest character, with the Robin origin, in my opinion), Batman (childhood favourite because of his mask :D ) and I think Powergirl.
That's kind-of what I am saying also. Movies tend to be about the guy heroes with the female heroes either being support, weak, or not there at all. Look at movies like fantastic four, I really love the team and I love sue, and I love how Jessica Alba portrayed the character, but she got nosebleeds all the time and was a weaker character also movies like batman movies, bat woman I think appeared in one of the movies, the one with poison ivy and she wasn't that big of a character there if my memory is correct. Very few movies revolve around the female hero. I do feel that everyone should have their own opinion, I mean let face it if people didn't have differing opinions, people as a whole wouldn't grow and life would be pretty boring. I also agree that Robin/nightwing would be cool, but to me I wanted to make my list fairly consolidated and even and to me I had to choose between batman and robin and for me I'd choose batman. Also Powergirl would have been cool, but she shares pretty much the same abilities as superman, and again I'd rather go with superman than powergirl, plus having superman balanced out my ratio of women and men better in my roster.
If the game was like Marvel vs Capcom 3 you could have 3 people per team and team up with Marvel and DC aganist maybe 1 or 2 people from both universes that have teamed up. I think it would be cool if they went off of the X-Men and Teen Titans crossover where Darkseid and Dark Phoenix worked together! Although I doubt that would happen.
the problem i can see with a DC and Marvel game is that who is going to make it? Capcom will obviously be Marvel's choice to make a fighting game but DC is owned by Warner Bros and they will want Nether realm studios to make it as NR is owned by WB
Well, personally I would still stick with a MUA style of a game. It would be more interesting than a fighting game, plus they could really use up the capabilities of all heroes.

yea I agree I too would want it to be a storyline adventure type of game instead of a side scrolling vs. fight, although I would like to have a character vs character type of practice room with the mua format also, which i thought mua lacked, a sort of danger room type thing.
Was bored on New Years (lol) so I made this to show off the rosters on both sides. I think its the same as the roster I posted on the 1st page. I'd keep it a fighting game but add a much bigger and more important story unlike MvC3 which didn't even have one. The game would either be the MvC3 format (3 heroes on teams) or the Super Smash Bros Brawl format.

Thanks and yeah the story is a big part to me and it bugged me that MvC3 didn't have one. Actually it bugged me even more that they were raving about how great and important the story is....and then it doesn't even have one!!!
Lol can you think of any DLC for the roster? I can think of Marvel heroes/villains easily but not for DC
I know I wish it did have a story.. Oh well. And for DLC umm Robin maybe, Poison Ivy, Raven, Starfire, Beast Boy

Me too actually...so if it was a real game with that roster I wouldn't mind her inclusion. It's really just the three villains on the Marvel side who I have no care for.
