I am a die-hard baseball fan, but since I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, I would have to say the Oakland Athletics, since I favor them over the San Francisco Giants who have been slumping for two years now. I especially enjoy the fielding of their Gold Glove star third-baseman, Eric Chavez.
im from oz so basicly, dont care :P well that was my two cents...
the giants are basicly "the barry bonds show"
Meh... If I really had to pick now, I'd say the Indianapolis Colts.
Ummm, the Colts are a football team I think.
The Colts...
/palmface
But yeah, I'm a close follower of baseball and I must say that the Angels and Mets are two scary teams. But if the Yankees make the playoffs...they might just win it all.
I hate the Yankees with a passion. Anyone would be better than them. The only way I would set foot in Yankee stadium is if someone paid me lots of money to go there and I mean lots of it.
The only reason I like the Bronx Bombers are because of their right-side of their infield; the two star faces of the Yanks: Jeter and A-Rod.
I bet the Yankees will make it, and if they don't I hope they eliminate the Boston Red Sox. I wouldn't mind seeing the Cubs win it either.
Cubs? Nah, not IMO. My bet would be on the Bronx Bombers. They got A-Rod, the offensive powerhouse: a brigade's worth of firepower. And they have Melky Cabrera's rocket arm in center. Jeter, one of the Gold Glove shortstops. Abreu, who has a strong, accurate throw from right and has some good power as well. Matsui, who has a quick reaction to the ball, and can get a longball if he wants it. Cano, who has been on fire recently. Mienkewitcz, who has made some outstanding plays at first base. Giambi, who can really show some power with the stick. Then there's Damon, who can show some power if he wishes to do so. Molina, who has shown some pretty good defense as of late. Posada, one of the best catchers in the league, IMO. Plus, their star pitching roster: Mussina, The Rocket, Mariano, Chamberlain, Hughes...
That's why my money'd be on the Yanks.
yea they do got a kick ass team, and they probably will win it, but if they don't i hope the cubs will win it. They were one of the worst teams last year and this year they won their division, thats awesome.
Well, ALDS starts tomorrow, Yankees vs. Indians. Chien-Ming Wang vs. C.C. Sabathia. I'm gonna follow the Bombers throughout the postseason.
yea me 2 probably, them the cubs and the Diamondbacks.
Dammit, Yankees lost ALDS. Dunno bout A-Rod's future now. They better not get rid of Torre. D'Backs win 3-0. Rockies win 3-0. Red Sox win 3-0. With New York gone, my eyes are on Boston. They better beat the crap out of the Indians.
he has a player opt. I hope he chooses to leave the yanks, there to good of a team, tey somehow they ended up losing to the Indians. yea did anyone here whats happening to Torre, I heard from like 3 ppl that hes gona get fired and like 5 saying hes not. I hate Boston even more than i hate the yanks so i hope Indians win and meet Rockies in the World Series and the rockies beat them.
I'm completely different. My eyes are on Boston. I want them to beat the crap out of the Indians, and then advance so that the Rockies can beat them once they own the D'Backs. Was watching the back-to-back homers on the Red Sox site.
Yea that was crazy, and that was the first time all season that they did that. Are u a Ynkee fan Midnight Curse?
Nah, I only like A-Rod and Jeter.
Go Boston! A great comeback from 3-1 to pwn the Tribe in the two final games. So it's the Sox vs. Rockies. I don't really know who will win. Both teams I like.
Yea the Tribe blew it. They should have won the series in 5 games. But I hope the Rockies win the World Series.
yo the rockies better step it up, 13-1 is an embarrasing loss
Watched it all the way through. Pedroia jacked another one! Definitely my choice for ROTY.
EDIT: Score another one for the Sox. 2-1. Lowell got the only extra-base hit with a two-bagger. Halfway there now. At least it wasn't as bad as last night.
yea that sucks, i want Rockies to win, but I kinda figured with a 9 day resting period they would loose all their momentum coming into the series. O well
The Red Sox have swept the Colorado Rockies 4-0! Game 3 final score: 10-5. Game 4 final score: 4-3. Rox came in close with Garret Atkin's 2-run line drive shot into left, but to no cigar as Jacoby Ellsbury made a great leaping catch at the wall to take away the tying run. That was the rest. Papelbon did "the dance".
The Rockies deserved to win that series, they won 22 out of 23 then had a 9 day rest, and the Sox had what a 3 day rest. The Sox had all the momentum going into the series. Hopefully the comissioner will smarten up and start the WS right after both the ALCS and NLCS are done, not waiting an extra 4 days.
Maybe they should do the same with the All-Star break.
yea that wouldnt be such a bad idea
I've recently heard that A-Rod is re-deciding his contract options and might sign on a 10-year contract with the Yankees for the rest of his career.
I've also heard of Barry Bonds's upcoming trials, and he has a lot more to worry about than increasing his homerun total or deciding which team he should go for next.
Also, have the awards been decided yet? ROTY, Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, Hank Aaron, AL and NL MVP?
This is becoming a baseball talk thread now (my other one is dying out)...
Cy Young went to Peavy and Sabathia. Rookie of the year went to Pedroia and Braun. Hank Aaron award went to Fielder and Arod. Gold gloves went to Johan Santana, I-Rod, Youkilis Polanco, Beltre, Orland Cabrera, Ichiro, Hunter, and Sizemore for the AL. Then to Maddux, Russell Martin, Derrek Lee, Hudson, Wright, Rollins, Beltran, Rowand, Andruw Jones, and Jeff Francoeur for the NL. Just go here:

Red Sox starting rotation next season.
Beckett
Schilling
Matsuzaka
Wakefield(?)
Buchholz(?)
Lester(?)
Yea I hope Barry Bonds does some time, as for A-Rod it doesn't matter the Yanks aren't gonna be any better with or without him, I think there a declining team.
Thanks for the info, blade.
@ Packerfan: If Bonds is convicted of all trials, then he can face a 30-year sentence in prison.
wow, what do u think should happen with his record, should they take it from him, or put an asterik next to it, or should they just leave it how it is.
Asterisk.

They should give all the records back to Maris/Aaron/Ruth.
yea I agree with blade 554, he doesn't even deserve to be on the record board with name like Maris, Aaron, or Ruth.
I just watched the Baseball World Finals (Fall Classic) which is in Taiwan! I attended the baseball stadium near my place. USA vs. Cuba.
USA won 6-3. Only guy who jacked a homer was the US second baseman with a majestic shot into left center. I managed to compliment him the next time he came on-deck. Then he flew out deep to left center. Go USA!
MLB: So you guys think McGwire should hold the 70 HR single-season,and Aaron should keep 755?
I think Aaron should keep his record.
But as for McGuire, he took steroids to, but he admitted to it like a man, not like Bonds who lied about it, so I think he should be allowed to keep his record, hbu
Or maybe McGwire should keep an asterisk by his name.
Did Sosa ever use steroids?
no he just got gaught with a cork in his bat
A corked bat is different from juicing.
McGwire should lose the record though. And he didn't admit to it. He cried in front of the senate. Giambi was the only one who actually came right out and said it with any sort of apologetic tone. Sheffield was like 'yeah, I'm a juicer, what are ya gonna do about it?' Sosa, I would guess, wasn't a juicer. I have no proof to back this up, but looking at him in his rookie year and him now...he's always been jacked. Compare this with a guy like Bonds or Chipper Jones and it's shocking. Same with Roger Clemens. I've seen pictures of him playing high school ball and he always had a thick neck and massive arms.
O yea thats right Giambi was the one who admitted it, well now that I remember that, McGuire should loose his record also. Yea I don't think Sammy Sosa ever juiced, but look at Barry Bonds his rookie year witht the Pirates, he was so skinny, and now witht the Giants he's pretty big for someone who is how old? 40 I think.
He's 43 I think. Some players just get wider and fatter as time goes on. David Ortiz is a good example. He started in MLB when he was 16.
Bonds was born on July 24, 1964 in Riverside, California. So therefore, he must be 43.
And how old is Ortiz now?
yea they may get bigger (fatter) as they grow older, but after you reach like 18-25 you really don't get much stronger, you start losing muscle mass, and unless you take steroids that's not gonna change. BTW Ortiz is 32. I'm pretty sure.
Well, he began his career in 1997 with the Minnesota Twins. Papi was born on Nov. 18, 1975 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

No, not quite. You don't start losing muscle mass until you are 30-35. 25-28 are the prime years for baseball players.
ok well Barry keBonds is like 40 so, for him to keep getting those numbers consistently for so many years and for him getting bigger after he went from the pirates to the Giants, either he has one hell of a trainer or he's been juices. I think it's the latter.
Month-old news that I've not been able to go around much getting...
Bonds's ball is going to Cooperstown with a marked * on it.
A-Rod is staying with the Yanks for another 10 yrs on a $272M contract. Wonder if they'll ever push on to $30M per year.
wouldn't surprise me if they did.
But im happy that the Bonds Ball is having an asterik on it.
lol, I pwned the COM on my baseball videogame 37-0.
