Title: The Avengers Film Discussion Thread (SPOILERS!!!)
Post by: Tony Stark on May 06, 2012, 03:20PM
So here's a thread for anyone who wants to discuss Marvel's The Avengers movie. Don't read if you don't want to see spoilers.

So one of the things I noticed was that they've been sort of having :stark: Iron Man take over the role of :spidergirl: Spider-Man, making jokes, since Spidey couldn't be in the film.

Also, the Chitauri force that Loki brought in to Earth was the :sskrull: Skrulls. (They are the Ultimate Comics version of the Skrulls from Earth-616)

And, for those of you who saw the first post-credits scene, the guy who gave an evil smile to the Chitauri (Skrull) leader was Thanos.

Also, in case anyone's wondering what the shawarma is that Stark was talking about and they all ate in the second post-credits scene, here's a link for info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawarma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawarma)

Trust me, shoarma (that's how it's spelled here) is delicious food. It's mostly eaten on Pita bread and tastes awesomely good. I saw the movie today, and I also ate shoarma before I saw the movie, which was kind of a kinkydink.

Haha, that's funny, BLaw! I've never had shoarma before, because I'm vegetarian. I didn't realize it was supposed to be a fast food.

Well if you're vegetarian I'd not suggest it (and sorry if I offended you as a vegetarian by saying it's delicious =/ ).

Oh, no worries, most of my friends aren't vegetarian either. It's mostly a personal/cultural choice.

This movie was good... but... i would have liked the alien invaders to have been The Kree. It opens up all kinds of opportunity for
the sequel... Ms. Marvel, Mar-vell or even Genis-vell to become members of the Avengers, especially since there next big threat is
Thanos. Loki was cool as usual... but i think he should have maybe played a sort of Starscream (from the Transformers G1 series)
type of role to a new enemy like... maybe Ronin The Accuser (imo). I think it could've been more epic.  :colossus:

1. X-Men Aliens = The Brood & The Shi-ar

2. Fantastic Four Aliens = The Skrulls & The Harolds Of Galactus

3. The Avengers Aliens = The Kree & Thanos

Nuff Said!!!

Definitely a cool idea. Maybe for Avengers 2 they could introduce Mar-Vell as a Kree agent sent to help avert the Skrull invasion (the Kree don't like Earth much more than they like the Skrulls in the comics, but still, they could make them allies of Earth in the movie.) I really would like to see an Avengers movie including Spider-Man and Wolverine though.

Technically the Chitauri are their own race in the Ultimate Universe, and a merely a Skrull counterpart.

Interesting point, but they do call themselves Skrulls sometimes. (See the aliases in the info box on that page.)

Now that I saw the film: It was just pure awesomeness in every minute. Simply loved it. Can't tell how much I enjoyed seeing Hulk beating up Loki or that simple punch to Thor :D Althought, thanks to some circumstances not under my control, I couldn't see the after credits scenes, but I saw a few things on YouTube, so I have my ideas.

What'd you think of the part where Loki tries to control Stark with his scepter and it instead just makes a clink sound on the arc reactor in his chest? That's my favorite part.

There's so many parts that I had to crack out loud about. That was one of them, Hulk just giving that dickmove of a punch to Thor, him smacking around Loki like it's nothing, The rest tallking smack about Loki while Thor defends him, them saying it's family related and him replying with "he's adopted" ><'.

Great sense of humor. If all Marvel movies were that great. Lol.

O and I like the way they made the Hulk. He does look a lot like Mark Ruffalo & The Hulk mixed into a piece of art.

yay, The Avengers just became the third highest grossing movie of all time, supassing the last Harry Potter. Now only Titanic and Avatar ahead of it, though I have my doubts it will surpass Avatar, I still think Titanic is a great possibility.

You know, I never liked Titanic or Avatar.

Interestingly enough, those are both James Cameron movies. They're only successful because James Cameron is a teenage girl on the inside. And he clearly knows how to make anything way too dramatic/romance-filled.

On a related note, we got lucky on the original :spidergirl: Spider-Man films. Cameron almost became director instead of Raimi. I read some of his original ideas for Spidey. They were bad.

Cameron wasn't always this pile of crap of a director he is now. I liked some of his earlier movies quite a lot, specially Terminator 2, Aliens and True Lies. But he totally lost it for me and his worst movies were the most successful, which baffles me.

Hate it when great people just lose it like this. Cameron, Frank Miller, Madonna...why can't they just retire having made a great contribuition? Guess Harvey Dent was right on several levels: You either die successful or live long enough to become a flop.

Nice. Your quote makes me hope Chris Nolan doesn't go that route. If there's one man who's been around for years and hasn't disappointed us, though, it's Stan Lee.
