I was just thinking about how they should add in a feature where you can load up a picture of a face and it will try and create a Sim off of the picture, kind of like the 3Ds feature where you can load a picture and it will make a mii off of it.

Yeah that would be cool some peps tried to do that on mod the sims also.
But I think they should add height length for sims, hair growth, no rabbit holes, more interactions for for the sims like Sims 2. Also I will be giving new updates about The Sims 4 also the trailer come out in August of this year 2013. :storm:

I was just thinking about '3D mode' -> The sims can be controlled by W,A,S,D (Keyboard), and the camera will attach to the sims's body when your playing that mode (like GTA). And a free-roam mode to the outside of the city maybe cool :)

Yeaaah they actually had that for Sims 2 Pets also I wish they can make it when you are playing the game on pc you can use a xbox controller so if you are not use to playing with a keyboard you can use the controller. :storm:

I saw some pictures of gameplay and they didn't really look like that, but maybe I wasn't really paying attention haha. I just really hope they give us more clothing and hair options. Because I know this is probably stupid to complain about but I thought most of the hair styles kinda sucked until you started getting other games then there were some good ones.

Thats why thery had Mod the Sims it  has a whole bunch of hairstyles. I agree with you the base game do not have that much hairstyles except if you purchase the expansion packs.

EA should stop making separate packs and just include it all in one game. Money hungry company.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure everyone would agree, but seeing how people still buy it and it's more profit this way, it won't change anytime soon. But hey, at least it actually has new stuff whenever they release something, unlike games that have everything from the start, except they lock it and you have to buy overpriced DLC to unlock what was already there.

So yeah, if they put in some new, quality content, I'm willing to buy packs.

I don't really mind the Expansion packs so much, but the stuff packs I feel are a bit dumb. You could just include them in the game or just release them on the Sims website for people who really want them.

lol look at the logos, from the complicated one (The Sims) into the most simple one (The Sims 4) haha :D

Otherwise, I like what they did to the improvements. They should give more features on The Sims 4 ^_^

I wonder if The Sims 4 is a sequel to The Sims 2, because The Sims 3 is a prequel to the first game. Bella Goth could hopefully make a return in this one after being abducted by aliens.

I like it, it's kinda similar to the Sims 3 one, just less reflective and opaque.
By the way, it's called a Plumbob. :)

Also, Sims 4 live broadcast which will show gameplay.

Omg, plumbob, that was what it was called xD
Its all coming back to me now... Boolprop testingcheatsenabled true, then clicking that damn diamond to hide it...All that typing 0.0

I dunno if I can see the broadcast due to time diffrences, so hopefully there'll be a replay button

Yeah, it's not that I just flat out hate it, the diamond doesn't really bother me. This one just looks a little too big, and I think it lacks what it had in the 3rd game.

I'm really hoping they give us more options in the actual world then they did in Sims 3, like options only available when you get the other games. Like going to night clubs, college, apartments, living on boat houses, and traveling. Other then boat houses those things are all pretty common in life and I think they should include them, but then again there goes half of their expansions.

I have to say, I'm really looking forward to the Sims 4.
I love the graphics, they look cartoony but with a touch of realism and remind me alot of the Sims 2.
I really like the way you create your sims, and the fact that now you can modify more stuff like the bootie xD
Build Mode looks nice and easy to use, it would be cool if there is a "Turn Off Snap to Grid" mode, for advanced builders. Which lets you put objects anywhere not being constricted to the square grid thing, and also being able to rotate them and make them face any direction.
Would be cool if the same was applied to walls, and with the ability to make a circular room.
And I would love them if they added different shops ( not rabbit holes ) like Clothes Shops ( Like in the Sims 2 where you had to buy more clothes and not have all of them available when you use the Plan Outfit thing like it is in the Sims 3 ).
Plus this Emotion thing is sure to make the game feel more alive and dynamic.

To be honest this all looks to much like Sims 3 to me, I'm not saying I wont get it, but it does. I feel like while the realistic feel is nice, I really don't like the cartoon feel it almost looks like a mix between Sims 3 and The Sims Social on facebook.

I like that you can alter the movement style -- that seems like it could be cool.  In their example, however, it looks like there aren't as many different body types as I would like.

I like the idea of new movement styles

Arrival trailer looks awesome, very dynamic
The build mode looks awesome aswell, more 'polished'

I do oh-so hope that the 'create a city' tool that was abscent from sims 3 makes its return

I really like the female hairstyles shown in the gameplay trailer.
Especially the one the blond has in this pic.
I have to say, the game looks alot more polished and natural than the Sims 3, I really like the trees that are in the neighborhood we see in the Sims 4 gameplay trailer and pics, they give a sense of atmosphere that was never present in the Sims 3, at least for me.

I hope they add in the ability to have different heights, I think that is one of the major flaws in the Sims because everyone is the same height by a certain age.

At the moment, the game is actually in pre-alpha. Some simmers who make youtube videos were invited to SimsCamp at Gamescom in Germany.
They played the game and the producers told them the game is still in pre-alpha.
Judging by the new CAS screenshots on the Sims 4 page in Sims Wiki, the different life stages aren't even added.
Also Create a Pattern isn't added, the developers are wondering whether they should add it in the base game or not.

Also, no height sliders, although the devs expressed a major interest in adding it, they just decided not to because they needed to focus more on the new direct manipulation CAS.

Also a really neat mechanic/feature.
Bottoms and Shoes compatibility.

Example: If your Sim is wearing skinny jeans and boots, the boots will go over the skinny jeans. If your Sim is wearing bell bottoms and boots, the bell bottoms will go over the boots.

So no more shoes glitching with bottoms, like going through the bottoms or vice versa.

Also, your outfit will also play a part in your Sim's emotion/mood.
Like if your female Sim is on a date and she's wearing a short red dress, she will feel more confident.

I am bummed they are not adding a height slider.  So far, the "short list" of features doesn't make up for that yet.

The new features sounds pretty good, I'm glad there wont be shoe/pant glitches, and I liked the hair accessory thing. But I have to agree with Fox. This is the Sims 4, and there is still not height slider. I don't think leaving it out once again to focus on other things is such a great idea, they should find time to make it work, I'd rather them push the release date back to make a good game, then to release it sooner and just rush everything and leave important things out.

And btw, they might add it in a patch after the initial release of the Sims 4, just like the breast, muscle definition sliders were added to Sims 3 in later patches. While in Sims 4 those sliders will be there from the beginning.
Besides, adding a height slider will take longish time, cuz then they would need to tweak the animations ( example kissing Sims, one of them not to appear as if kissing their chin or forehead xD ), if one of them is too short or the other one too tall.

To be honest though, I would be glad to wait as long as it took for them to finish the height slider if they so did decide to add it in. I just believe it is a feature that is way overdue to be put in the game, and I know it will take time, but it would be worth it in my book.

The Sims 3 had both Rain and Snow, once you bought the Seasons pack aswell. Again this is one of those things that should just be included. It is something that occurs in real life, and you should have to pay extra money to let it rain and snow.

I think if they stay a T rated game, then they need to not have it in the game. Because first of all it's not like you ever see them actually do things, they are covered by something, or blurred out. Plus it said the way they do solo woohoo is in a pillow fort they built, when they are feeling lonely. Which means you wouldn't see it, which kind of has no purpose. It's like they crawl into a fort and come out possibly more happy.

Now If they went a more mature route, I wouldn't mind it in the game.

New Update:
In the Official Magazine, Maxis were able to confirm a handful of skills that will make it into The Sims 4 by launch. We expect this list to be added to quite significantly before the game launches next year.
•Violin
•Guitar
•Hacking
•Writing
•WooHoo
•Cooking
•Gardening

Notably, your Sims can level up their WooHoo skills for the first time in the history of The Sims. It also looks like we'll see the return of separate skills for each instrument type, as we saw in The Sims 3: Late Night. From this info, it seems that the hacking skill will also grow into a full skill after featuring as a hidden skill in The Sims 3.
Sims can be right or left handed. It is currently unknown what effect this will have on gameplay.

Title: Re: THE SIMS 4!
Post by: White Queen on December 27, 2013, 08:25AM
Yes, the dev's said that height will not be in the Sims 4, because they want to focus on the new features such as direct manipulation CAS. Since height will require them to tweak all the animations to avoid clipping, but they did say that height might get added in a patch after the initial release of the Sims 4.

True a survey by EA was created, which had several expansion pack ideas and concepts, to see which players would like to see.
But all this at the moment may or may not be just false rumors, seeing as we're about 2 months away from actual Sims 4 information.
The 2015 fiscal year began recently-ish, usually around this time EA should have began to promote the game, but nope they said that any new info will be coming sometime June or late May.
I think EA's a little lacking with their duties as of recently. I mean they made the game pre-orderable last August, and do they expect people to just pre-order when there's so little information about the game's features. There's nothing to motivate us.
Well hopefully the expansion pack ideas within the article you linked are more probable than not, cuz I really like the Magic School idea.

I don't care for games that you have to pay some sort of subscription for.  I read through some of the comments of people who were saying that they thought it was a good idea because it would save them money.  From what I understood, the DLC included in the "subscription" price is only for the first year, and most of the 12-16 expansions will not be released during that time.

It seems as though the game itself will be a big improvement over Sims 3 (btw, Sims 2 rules!), but I am skeptical about its cost now.

It seemed to me that the sliders were pretty limited in modding Sims 3.  I hope that they are more flexible in Sims IV.

I was wondering when they would show them off. I wonder when the game takes places since technically chronologically it goes 3-1-2, and in 2 Bella lost her memories and moved to a town filled with supernatural creatures. If I remember correctly.

I think it takes place between 3 and 1 or between 1 and 2. Since Mortimer doesn't have grey hair yet, it's definitely before 2, and obviously after 3.

If it's before 1, then they're still newly weds and still don't have Cassandra (their daughter).

If it's after 1 then they have Cassandra and maybe baby Alexander (their son) who is a child in The Sims 2.

I hope it's the newly weds version though, with Bella being pregnant with Cassandra in the start of 4.

Well I mean it's not technically wrong, but seeing as nothing about the time period is confirmed, currently it's just an assumption, along with the alternative of it being set between 3 & 1.
So yeah. xD
I can't wait for the trailer featuring Bella Goth and Mortimer Goth on May 14th. :storm:

Ok so The game was going to be release in May 2014  :( but the release date is autumn 2014 or fall 2014. The game better be really good for them to push it back that far by time that I will be in school  :(.

Ok I just wanna clear up all the confusion on the release date.
Long ago, like a short while after The Sims 4 was announced back in... June/May 2013 I believe, it was speculated that the release date would be Early 2014. EA kinda leaked a release date by stating it was coming Early 2014, but in October they pushed it to Fall/Autumn 2014.
So the Fall 2014 Release Date isn't really news actually. xD It's been known for quite a while.
But recently several major Sims fansites have estimated the release date to be between Late September and Early October.
They've only pushed the release date once, and they won't be pushing it again it seems.

But don't forget guys, only 19/18 days until The Sims 4 is showcased at E3 2014. EA will probably reveal the exact release date there. Hopefully. :P

The Sims 4: Build Mode Official Gameplay Trailer!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KSFkcKBBMo

Omg, so many new things added to build mode!

I love wall height, auto window placement and window height adjustment. I also adore the fact that you can now add a foundation once you have finished your house and you can also adjust foundation height!
In the Sims 3 if you made a house, and then you wanted to add a foundation, you have to remove the house, add the foundation and rebuild. I'm so glad this was addressed.
Building in Sims 4 really is easier than ever! :D I CAN'T WAIT!

Plus an extra image of a house. Do I see a house in the ocean or is that just me? :P :D :)

That isn't to long to wait, and from the looks of it, it appears like it will be worth the wait.

I definitely hope it will be modifiable like the other Sims. A combination of 2 and 3 mods. 2 had real great mods, especially all the cool costumes that people made, but 3 had some really good stuff too.

More The Sims 4 E3 Info!

__Neighborhood__

For those who don't know yet, the neighborhood's name is Willow Creek, and it's inspired by New Orleans.
But at E3, new info was shared about Willow Creek, and neighborhoods in general in TS4.

- Neighborhoods in The Sims 4 are somewhat a combination between The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 neighborhoods.
- They won't be a truly open world as in The Sims 3, but they won't be single lots (like TS2) as well.

- A single neighborhood in The Sims 4 will be divided into multiple districts/areas. (I believe Willow Creek is divided into 4-5 districts)
- Going from one district to another brings up a loading screen.
- Each district has several residential and/or community lots. (Lots are not loaded individually, so basically a district is a mini-TS3 open world neighborhood)
- According to spectators at E3, average loading time for a district is 30 seconds.
- This was done to massively reduce lag, make the game smoother and faster, and above all make the world feel more alive. As each district will now be more populated with Sims, and won't feel desolate and empty such as the neighborhoods in The Sims 3.

__Timeline__

The Sims 4 will not be set in the same timeline as the previous 3 games, instead it will be in it's own "Alternative Universe" (as the Dev's call it)
But never the less, will feature memorable Sims, such as the Goths.

__The Gallery__

As seen in the press conference, the Gallery is a built-in exchange system, where players can share their Sims and Lots with other players.
An internet connection is not required to play The Sims 4, but is required to access the Gallery.

__Relationships__

Relationship management in the game has changed.
In addition to normal relationship meters, The Sims 4 also tracks Sims' "romantic" relationships; this can lead to interesting situations where Sims are angry with each other or even enemies, while simultaneously being strongly romantically attracted to each other.

__Misc Information__

- The Sims 4 will have an auto-saving feature.
- No more maternity clothes. Unlike the previous games, in TS4 all clothes available to females will also be available while they're pregnant.

__Still not confirmed/announced__

- Pools
- Getting in/out animations for cars
- More than one neighborhood
- Minimum system requirements

Post by: Midnightphoenix on June 12, 2014, 08:15AM
Thanks for all the information!

I think the alternate universe definitely makes sense for this game, it seemed like it would be to hard to place in in the actual series, so I think they made the right choice.
I really like that all the clothes will be maternity clothes, and not just a set few.
And I love that the districts should be filled with more people, I feel like The Sims 3 neighborhoods definitely lacked on people and it always seemed so lonely.

Just finish watching the create a sim at the E3 Conference center and it looks like they have a lot of clothes, jewelry, hats, skin tones, hair styles, and make up to choose from. I cant wait either! They need to show Sims in the neighborhood gameplays in each district. Also there is going to be a cupcake factory right? :storm:

Alexis, the owner and manager of one of the most reliable and popular Sims News/Fan sites (SimsVIP), interviewed developer SimGuruGraham about various features in TS4.

Definitely watch the interview, if you want to learn more about Sims 4 features.
They've split the Cooking skill in half. Now there's a Gourmet Cooking Skill and Home Cooking Skill. I think that's genius! Excited! :D :D

For those that are confused about how exactly Worlds in The Sims 4 work, here is a little diagram I found on the forums:

So, a single World in The Sims 4 is divided into 5 Neighborhoods.
Traveling from one neighborhood to another will yield a loading screen.

Each neighborhood has a total of 5 lots, and the public space between those lots. (the streets for example)
The Active lot, is the lot your Sim(s) is currently on, and that lot is fully loaded and accessible.
The other four lots in the neighborhood are Inactive.
Going to another lot in that neighborhood yields a very short loading screen, and then that lot becomes the active one, while the previous one you were on becomes inactive.
The public space between those lots is always active and does not require a loading screen for you to exit or enter it.

The passage of time and aging is global and always active. All Sims are simulated in the background for those Unloaded/Inactive areas, and their needs change and they take care of themselves, and they wont be doing the same thing they were doing when you left.

Another part of the new system is how switching between Sims works.

So let's say you have Sim A, B and C in one neighborhood.
They are all together on one lot. (the currently active lot)
And then you direct Sim C to go to another lot, and after a loading screen that lot becomes the currently active lot
The lot Sim A and B are on becomes Inactive, but they continue to simulate in the background and do different things.
Then you decide to switch to Sim A by double clicking on their Sim-Portrait, that yields a small loading screen and then the lot Sim A and B are on becomes the currently active lot, while Sim C (who is on a different lot, now inactive) continues to simulate in the background.

It works the same way when switching between Sims in different neighborhoods.
I would assume that the loading screens between neighborhoods is longer than the one between lots.

So how Worlds work in the Sims 4 is truly somewhat a combination between The Sims 2 and The Sims 3.

Also another option in the Settings menu, allows you to disable aging for all Sims besides your currently active household.
Note: That does not disable passage of time or background simulation for Sims on inactive areas, that will always be active and working.

EXTRA INFO - Developer SimGuruGraham confirmed that Willow Creek will also feature a 6th neighborhood, though they won't refer to it as a neighborhood because all it has is one huge lot. (A really big park)

Also Graham stated that there will be interactive objects in the public spaces between the lots, and your Sims will no longer be confined to only autonomously using the objects that are on the lot they are currently on, meaning that they will go outside the currently active lot and into the public space and interact with Sims and objects that are there, on their own. (Unlike how in The Sims 3 where Sims will only react to events happening on the lot they are currently on)

The new "Manage Worlds" feature (which replaces Edit Town) will be used to manage the lots in those neighborhoods (place lots, change lot type), while the public spaces cannot be edited.

Mothers will be able to breastfeed their baby/toddler children.
Clothes cannot be bought, instead all will be unlocked like in the Sims 3.
Children will paint more childlike paintings, which will include macaroni art.

The same as in The Sims 3.
Baby > Toddler > Child >Teen > Young Adult > Adult > Elder
Babies will have legs (Like in TS2), instead being wrapped in a blanket.

Update! - Toddlers have been removed, and pools will not be present in the base game.

Also, you will be able to travel between Worlds (Example: From Willow Creek to another world) without needing to start a new game. (Unlike in TS3, where if you want to move from Sunset Valley to let's say Bridgeport, you either have to start a new game and place your household in Bridgeport, or move them and lose all relationships outside your household)

That's disappointing that Pools wont be included in the base game, I don't know why they would take that out. And I don't understand why toddlers got taken out either, but whatever.

I really love the fact how they have different piano colors and styles and the fact that they brought pianos back into Sims.

I love how they added nightclubs and restaurants that you can actually see what your sims are doing in there. Also I like how they added nightclubs into the base game it gives me and other people more stuff to do without a late night dlc. And it makes it more realistic.

I like how they added new things to interact with such as the football simulator.

Teens will be the same height as Young Adults, adults and elders.
They'll just look younger and have thinner frames.
Also the game will use a 32-bit executable, meaning that if you have a 64-bit operating system, it'll only access up to 4gb of RAM, even if you have more.

I agree, but hey at least we can travel between Worlds freely, and how about them emotions? lol :D xD
Also, I feel like the reason why they made teens the same height as adults and elders is so that they can cut off on the number of animations they'll have to do. Lazy much?
And we're getting clubs (and possibly restaurants too), so that's cool. And I'm sure pools will be added as soon as possible after release. (hopefully as free content in an update or something)
I'm kind of neutral on the toddlers situtation. Honestly I never liked them, but I don't hate them. xD But I would want them missing cuz it's weird for a baby to skip the toddler stage and age into a full grown child. @_@

Yeah it does seem lazy, also I know in the Sims 3 clothes for teenagers were different from young adult, adult and elder so that means they can probably just give teens the same clothing which seems lazy again.

I honestly think they are going backwards because in The Sims and Sims 2 when your Sims goes to work or school they disappear so this is coming back in the Sims 4 and another thing I want to point out is the baby aging straight to a child was also in The Sims and Sims 2. So like I said they are going backwards to me. But I do think they are going to add the pool immediately after the release of the game, because so many people are signing and asking for it and I think they are going to hopefully bring the toddlers back in an Sims 4 Generations expansion pack or whatever it will be called. But I love the improvement on emotions. :storm:

Babies don't age from babies to children in TS2, it has toddlers. But you're right about TS1, it had only three life stages and there was actually no real aging in that game. :D
And I believe the SimGurus stated that they'll add pools as soon as possible after release, not sure in what way though. And they have stated that re-adding toddlers is also a possibility for the future.
The only thing they have said, that can't be re-added is the Create-a-Style tool, since it's a mechanic that would have to be in the base game and is not possible to be added later on.

The Sims 4: Create-A-Sim Demo Coming Soon!

EA has officially announced that a Create-a-Sim demo will be coming our way this summer. In addition to the announcement, Gurus have confirmed that the Demo will be available free of charge, and players will be able to upload their creations to the "gallery". No information for Mac users yet.

QuoteHello Simmers,

We're less than 60 days out from the launch of The Sims™ 4, and I have so much I want to talk about. But let me start with a bit more about the decision we made not to include pools and toddlers in The Sims 4, as we've seen some of you have concerns about this.

The fact is, we owe you a clearer explanation for why pools and toddlers will not be in The Sims 4 at launch, so here goes. It begins with new technology and systems that we built for this new base game for The Sims – a new AI system, new animation system, new audio positioning tools, new locomotion logic, new routing intelligence and much more are all entirely new in this game. The vision for The Sims 4 is a new experience that brings your Sims to life in deeper and uniquely personal ways – through emotions, personality traits, behaviors and interactions. To do that, our technology base needed a major upgrade.

So the bottom line is that when we sat down and looked at everything we wanted to do for this game, all the new tech we wanted to build into it, the fact was that there would be trade-offs, and these would disappoint some of our fans. Hard pill to swallow, believe me, but delivering on the vision set out for The Sims 4 required focus. Focus on revolutionizing the Sims themselves. So, rather than include toddlers, we chose to go deeper on the features that make Sims come alive: meaningful and often amusing emotions; more believable motion and interactions; more tools in Create A Sim, and more realistic (and sometimes weird!) Sim behavior. Instead of pools, we chose to develop key new features in Build Mode: direct manipulation, building a house room-by-room and being able to exchange your custom rooms easily, to make the immediate environment even more relatable and interactive for your Sim.

But now the upshot: The Sims 4 is a completely new game, and it feels different to play. You'll notice the new technology base the first time you play.

I'll give you one example that continually jumps out at me as we talk about how to make The Sims 4 feel uniquely personal to you, our players. I mentioned Create A Sim – which, to me, is still one of the single most impactful features of the entire game. Not only is it hilariously entertaining, now you're building in real personality. In The Sims 4, there are seven unique walk styles that you can choose from to help your Sims express themselves. To make those walk styles come to life, we had to create around 75 distinct animations. And it doesn't stop there. Every emotion in The Sims 4 comes with a visible reaction or even another special walk style. No more looking at the UI to figure out how your Sims are feeling – just look at their faces, posture, movements. That's where you'll see about 320 new emotion-based animations, as well as over 600 reactions to objects.

There's so much more depth in The Sims 4. For the first time, the Sims act like real people. They can interact with groups, not just one-to-one. A standing Sim can talk with a sitting Sim. They can multi-task (eating, watching TV and talking? Sounds like my typical evening!). You can even put a hat on any hairstyle or pair boots with any pants... well, maybe that's just me that cares about that.

That's the thing about The Sims 4, though – you do care about things like that. Because you can now. Emotions touch every single system in our game, and every single experience you have inside it. Multi-tasking completely changes how your Sims go through their day and interact with the world around them. The new Create A Sim and Build Mode tools completely changed the way we think about creating Sims and homes.

But let us show you this instead of just talking about it: The Sims 4 Create A Sim Demo will be available later this summer for absolutely everyone to play. We are currently rolling out an early trial experience and invitations are going out very soon to a limited number of fans to help us test it. After that, you'll all get your hands on it and see firsthand the depth, personality and emotion that are part of your new Sims.

And another thing – we were thrilled that more than 1200 people came through our E3 demo room last month to see The Sims 4 in action, but we want all of you to see it as well. We'll be releasing over 15 minutes of in-game Live Mode footage (with complete UI) in the next two weeks. We can't wait to hear what you think.

So from the entire development team here at The Sims Studio, thank you for your feedback and support. Our hearts are being poured into every line of code, every single piece of art, and every single Sim that is created. We're building a brand new Sims experience with a foundation we can build on and evolve based on your feedback. We think you're going to love playing with life all over again.

The Demo is scheduled to be released for everyone on 12th of August. ( It's free, don't worry. ;) )

I agree, plus in the Sims 3, neighborhoods looked really...bland and lifeless. I'm actually really glad they decided to follow a more Sims 2-esque path with the Worlds system. This way there will be more sims on lots, so it won't look empty, and the world itself will look much better, decor wise.

Btw, I believe Terrain shape tools will not be returning. So all lots will be flat.
And technically every building/room you make will automatically have a foundation (a step-sized one, you can increase the height of it of course) meaning that split-level buildings will not be possible. Such as one room/part of the overhaul building having a foundation and the other not having one.

Agreed. To be honest I do not care to much for the Terrain shape tools. I was never really good at building houses lol so I do not really use them except if I'm making a pond. But I remember in the Sims 2 Pets console I use to  have my Sims live out side because I was never good at building houses. But I like how they made more Sims come in one area because in the Sims 3 there are hardly any Sims at that particular lot unless you throw a big party there. :storm:

Oh, also I just finished making a somewhat giant mansion in TS3 (based it a lil on the X-Mansion in X-Men Legends 1), it took me like 2 days to finish it fully and furnished it costs around 300,000 simoleons.
It's not the best mansion, but I'm really proud of it. It has this blood-red witch room in the basement, accessed through a secret bookcase in the library portion.
Want to see pics? XD :D

It's not the best mansion, but I'm really proud of it. It has this blood-red witch room in the basement, accessed through a secret bookcase in the library portion.
Want to see pics? XD :D
Yeesss PLEASE!! :jumping:  And how many expansion packs do you have? :storm:

Love all the pictures you posted White Queen, the mansion looks amazing! Building things is one of my favorite parts, but I definitely have to be dedicated to it or else I will get bored with it.

I am pretty disappointed to here that more and more stuff is being dropped from The Sims 4, they keep saying they want to focus on more, but soon enough they will have nothing left to focus on if they keep removing things.

And yeah it's quite disappointing on the number of features that have been removed.
There are also rumors that cars will only be decorative objects that  just make the world feel more lively, just like how the tram and the ferryboat turned out to be, so that's even more disappointing.

Thanks guys! :)
Also the rings you see around the statue in the witch chamber actually move around her.
It's a magician stage prop from Showtime that I added to the statue using moveobjects, to look extra magic-y.
Also today I learned something new about build/buy mode.
While moving an object you can hold Alt+CTRL and that enable no-grid mode. Meaning you can place the object anywhere (not limited to the squares) and you can rotate it in any direction.
Seriously?! How did I not know this before in my 5 years of playing TS3.

Or just hold ALT actually, I was holding both Ctrl+Alt, but I believe it works with only ALT, I'm a dummy. xD
No snap-to-grid mode doesn't work with Doors and Windows btw, only objects (including plants from build mode)

Also this cheat: DisableSnappingToSlotsonAlt on
It's supposed to disable objects snapping to others while using the no-snap-to-grid mode. (example: Counters snapping onto other counters, or chairs snapping onto tables)
Title: Re: THE SIMS 4!

I know that if you use the testingcheatsenabled true cheat, I believe, it also makes it so you can move things where ever you want. Although it may be a secondary cheat that you enter after the testingcheatsenabled one.

Although it gets a bit risk to use that way because you can place things literally where ever, so you could have a bed half inside, half outside with a wall in between it.

The cheat does allow you to move people tho, so if they get glitched or aren't moving and blocking peoples paths you can move them, But if you want to kill people, you can make them go swimming, then pick them up out of the pool and drop them anywhere on land and they will glitch and remain swimming even though they aren't in the water. Eventually they will drown having no way to get out of the not-pool.
Title: Re: THE SIMS 4!
Post by: White Queen on July 12, 2014, 05:49PM
Yeah that's the moveobjects cheat, it doesn't need testingcheatsenabled though. I use it somewhat all the time.
I use it also when making my own Dive lots.

I'm hoping for an expansion similar to The Sims Vacation and The Sims 2 Bon Voyage, I just really liked the vacation atmosphere of it all.
I mean World Adventures was cool cuz you could visit all those neat locations (I really like Egypt), but it kinda lacked that vacation feel.

But you know what I'm hoping for the most? A superhero expansion.
Like the life state there would be something like a mutant or superhuman, and there would be different powers like Elemental manipulation, Telepathy, Telekinesis, Flight, Teleportation and stuff like that.
And your Sims can have secret identities, and there would be opportunity-like missions, such as (obviously) saving people.

Also something else, if they re-add vampires, witches, fairies and stuff like that, I hope they can hide their abilities. So when a normal Sim sees a witch performing magic, they would be like shocked or something, and not act like it's totally normal.
So basically secret keeping. :P

I agree with all of that.

World Adventures really did lack the Vacation feeling, it was just like going to another town. They should have resorts or something that gave off a more Vacation feel.

The Superhero idea is a very good one, and it could be another life state. And I do agree that you should be able to hide the abilities. I wasn't the biggest fan of how mermaids had scales even as humans, they could of just had normal legs, with fairies they could let you hide the wings unless otherwise stated by the user. I really hope they do something like the Supernatural expansion though, because it was one of my favorites. Maybe they could include more life states, or put in other ones not before select-able in the CAS.
Title: Re: THE SIMS 4!

Yup, and this time if they re-add mermaids (and underwater lots), I hope the underwater lots are more interesting and have more to offer.
Like maybe building an underwater mermaid home, where they can satisfy all their needs, because honestly I find it kinda silly that in TS3, to satisfy most of their needs, mermaids have to be on land.... like....mermaids aren't land creatures. xD
And also maybe growing legs could be something a mermaid could unlock, instead of having it from the start.
Like I don't know?! ... selling your soul to a sea witch or something. I just want to live out my Ariel fantasies in peace. @_@ xD lol

I hope they have more to things for a seasons expansion pack such as allowing grass to grow and cutting grass in the Summer and Spring. Also make the holidays more "alive". I felt like the Sims act like the holidays was like another day and how on Spooky day the kids and teens still have curfew so they really cant go trick or treating for the whole night. Really they have up to 8 or 9pm. Also when they have a late night expansion pack they should make the clubs and bars more "alive" also because there are hardly anybody in there.

And another thing I really think the Sims 3 sucked I would rather play TS2 than TS3. I think TS3 lacked a lot of social interactions, which the TS2 had more of and just making the world alive and fun. Not having 2 or 3 Sims at a park or beach.

In my opinion.

I totally agree with you.
Grass growing would be so neat, and it would just add this nice little touch that would make the game feel more alive.
And seeing as bars and clubs will be in the base game, I doubt they'll have a Nightlife/Late Night expansion. ;)
Plus the mixology skill is also in the base game, so let's see how well they handle those two features. :P
And yeah, the social interaction in TS3 compared to TS2 felt a little...bland. Let's hope this 'emotions' thing breathes life into the Sims and the simulation itself.

Grass growing would be awesome! It would give a more realistic feeling to the game.

And I agree, the underwater areas in the Sims 3 were really boring. There was hardly anything down there, and I only ever found one other mermaid. I feel like it needed to be more lively, and maybe have an underwater kingdom or something.

The name of the second world is Oasis Springs.

QuoteYour Sims can build their home in the middle of a desert

The Sims 4 will have another environment to compliment the lush Willow Creek neighborhood, and this one’s more on the parched side. The recently unveiled Oasis Springs district is set in the middle of an arid desert, and has the look of suburban Las Vegas.

This locale is filled with desert-themed charm, complete with set-pieces like cactuses and shed-sized air conditioners (and is that a Western-motif diner I see in the background?). You can still build lovely homesteads with plenty of modern comforts. You’ll likely have tons of fun in this…wellspring? Fountain? Watering hole? It’s right on the tip of my tongue…

I love it! I really like the fact that they are giving us to worlds in TS4 base game. This means if i get bored playing in Willow Creek at least they are giving me another world to play in.

To me Oasis Springs is like Lucky Palms, which is an purchasable world in TS3. I say that because they are both in the desert and they are both compared to Las Vegas. Oasis Springs to me is a improved world based off of Lucky Palms.

And it is really interesting that they named the world after Oasis Landings, which is in TS3 that comes with Into the Future. They both have water in the world which oasis means a fertile spot in a desert where water is found.

My personal name for Oasis Springs was Citrine Canyon (or Citrine Valley, couldn't decide xD)

Another thing I love about the Sims 4 is the food. For some strange reason the food in TS4 looks more detailed than TS3. The producers  made it look more appetizing . I don't know just my opinion. :storm:

For those who knows Kim Kardashian and Kayne West lets see them be created in TS4 CAS.

More things for Children in TS4
(http://www.gameranx.com/img/14-Jul/sims-4-cow-plant.jpg)
First off, Maxis revealed via a tweet that the children can learn skills. Children in The Sims 3 could learn skills, to an extent, but this is being expanded on in The Sims 4. The examples they gave were learning to play the violin as well as the piano. It's doubtful that Maxis will be adding how to play DOTA 2 or COD as skills, but I digress. I'm sure Maxis has a lot more skills planned for children, to reveal in the future.

In case you were wondering what the huge image above was, it's of the Cow Plant that you can grow within The Sims 4. The Cow Plant looks very much like its counterpart in The Sims 3. In the previous game, you could grow one of these plants to milk them to extend your sims' lives by days. You could even feed it, pet it, praise it, or scold it to make it a loving pet or an evil henchman. The Cow Plant would sometimes offer up a cake as bait for sims to take, ending their lives if they were foolish enough to take it.

The Cow Plant was released as premium content for The Sims 3 as a throwback to the original Cow Plant in previous SIms titles. It has been confirmed for The Sims 4.

The Sims 4: Official Gameplay Walkthrough Trailer (20 minutes long)

I'm really sorry for the double post guys, but I just wanted to share my opinion after what I witnessed.

Beginning of mini-rant xD

Okay, first of all they said that they would give us pure live mode demo (Description of video "See over 15 minutes of raw gameplay from The Sims 4 in our official walkthrough trailer.") and instead we get this scripted bullshit that's narrated in an overly exaggerated tone by two moronic oafs. Honestly, all I wanted was a simple unedited and non-staged live mode demo, they're seriously doing this marketing thing wrong.

The world looks really beautiful, fluid and more lively. I love how the Sims aren't just standing there like porcelain dolls (Sims 3, I'm looking at you), plus they have somewhat nice dance moves.

The graphics (And I don't mean the artstyle, I love the cartoony artstyle, it reminds me of the Sims 2 kinda) are a little...um...how should I put this... let's just hope that these aren't the final ones (since they said this is beta software from a month ago, in the beginning) or I hope they are using lower graphic settings.
They said they have dynamic lighting, I'm sorry but do you honestly call that dynamic lighting? (Pause at 19:19, and look at the edge of the lot how the light disappears just like in TS3), I pray that's a glitch or just low lighting graphic setting.

Also, a little overuse of bloom, don't you think? (Hopefully can be toned down, slider or something)

I do love party goals, socialising with guests, telling jokes. I like that, it's something nice that will help you with throwing a great party.

The loading screens seem fast, simple and tolerable, the UI however is slightly bland and little too simplistic, but let's hope this is unfinished in this demo as well.

The pure lack of transportation on the other hand is absolutely absurd. What the f**k is this teleportation bullshit that we're getting?!
Was it too much for EA to add simple walking off lot animations when traveling, or a simple taxi system?
Probably... I mean they cut so many features due to "lack of resources"...yeah...well....sure as hell ain't monetary resources seeing as how they're milking us of our money and giving us half-assed content in return.
But hopefully vehicles and transportation turn out to be more than just neighborhood decor, and are actually usable, I hope this outdated demo just lacks all those features...

On second though, why the flying f**k are they showing us a 1-month outdated version of the game in the first place?

I just hope what they're showing us is just the tip of the iceberg, and barely scratches the surface of the game. For their sake, not ours.
If they want good sales, they need to work for it.

I just truly hope the game proves me wrong, and turns out amazing, I really do. I really want this game to be great, I want it to get amazing reviews and ratings. But as of recently it's getting slightly disappointing with all the features that they're removing in favor of "purely focusing on the Sims themselves" as they keep repeating over and over.

This is an amazing rant I must say, and I very much agree with it. They are half assing everything with this game in my opinion. They claim they don't have resources and that they want to focus on other things, but they don't seem to be doing that great of a job. Obviously this game is about the SIMS, but they aren't the only thing that make this game, and it seems like they are the biggest focus for them. Yeah Sims are nice and are the core of the game, but its the houses and the environments and everything else that put it together. There are features and things they haven't tried to include that I think are long over do, and now they are cutting out other things that I believe should be there. It's a bit ridiculous.

As much as I hate waiting, I would rather them push the release date back and give us a game that isn't cut to the bone, then give us what they are showing off.

Don't worry though, they'll give us all those features back :) How you ask?
Well in the form of expensive expansion packs of course! :D

I mean just think of how many they have already planned! :)

The Sims 4: Terrain Tools Expansion Pack (Terrain manipulation is now fully within your grasp, however the pond tool is restricted to those who have purchased the premium edition of this Expansion Pack)

The Sims 4: Transportation Expansion Pack (Using the taxi system requires you to make an in-game transaction using Credit/Debit cards or via the safe comfort of Paypal)

The Sims 4: Toddlers and Family Fun Expansion Pack (To use the toddler life stage, you must pay a monthly subscription in addition to buying the expansion pack)

The Sims 4: Pools and Summertime Sadness Expansion Pack (Note: Expansion pack does not include Summer, please purchase separate Seasons expansion for Weather features, also said expansion has nothing to do with Lana Del Ray, we will however be releasing a Lana Del Ray's Sweet Treats stuff pack, so stay tuned for more info on that :) )

The Sims 4: Common Sense Expansion Pack (Note: Does not actually include anything that makes sense, we just made this expansion pack for the money and da lolz - EA )

Each expansion for just the small price of $169.99. Have a nice day, and remember we here at EA value our customers. :)

Hit the nail right on the head there!

They're occupied with making the sims as realistic as possible, and I love that, after all, the game is called Sims. But they're relying too much on the Sims, and not the area around it. What made the Sims 2 so entertaining for me (and Sims 3 lacked on that) was the entire wackiness of it all. Getting abducted by Aliens, getting into a fight which was covered with a huge cloud with an occasional fist popping out. and If they were feeling down? Maxmotives my friends, maxmotives all the way.

The make-a-sim looks better than it ever did. But I would honestly prefer the wackiness and cartoon crazyness sims 2 offered. It's so far only a downward hill from here. In the sims 2, I felt like the wackiness was just right, it didn't came over as forced,. In the sims 3, wackiness was still occasianly there, but they were obviously going for realism in that game. And I dunno, from what I've seen here, the cartoon look looks really forced (I honestly have no beter way of explaining this, as odd as it might sound. It just seems..Wrong)

And don't forget at least they have a lot of people on a Community lot unlike the TS3 there were only 3 or 4 people on that particular  lot your Sim is visiting but in TS4 it seems like they improved on having a lot of Sims on the lot. Also what really got me was the social interactions. I feel like their is going to be better and more entertaining interactions in TS4 like it was in TS2 but better. And how they added Don Lothario, Nancy Landgraab, Bella Goth, and Mortimer Goth. Who knows what other returning characters might appear in TS4 such as maybe Nina and Dina. But it would not be as much as an alternate universe that they claim its suppose to be.:storm:

Unlike the Sims 3, you cannot increase or decrease the length of seasons, you can however rearrange them in different patterns.

Example: Summer > Fall > Winter > Spring is the default one, you can make it Fall > Spring > Winter > Summer or other crazy combinations, or even assign a single season to 3, 2 or all of the 4 season slots.

To do that, just click on the circular Seasons button that should be on top of the screen while you're at the Neighborhood screen.

But I believe there are mods that increase the length of seasons for TS2.

The best site for TS2/TS3 mods is www.modthesims.info , that's where I get all my mods for TS2 and 3. :P

(And I mean mods, not Custom Content like Hairstyles, Meshes, Clothing and Furniture styles, that's different, but Mod The Sims has Custom Content as well but not as much as The Sims Resource - www.thesimsresource.com)

If you have other questions about TS2, ask away. :P Been playing that game since I was like 8 or 9 years old or something, so yeah I know pretty much everything about the second generation, and trust me there is alot more content and features in TS2 than TS3. :D

Origin is a program that you can get where you can download games, sort of like Steam, and register games to it as well. I got it with a Sims 3 update I believe, it is also used or can be used to update your Sims 3 games, or other games I am assuming.

Yeah i think its really hard taking care of your Sims needs lol!. But I like how the way when they are at work they eat lunch so you don't have to be worried about them being hungry later. And the fact that there are a lot of sims at one community lot! I really hope TS4 is like TS2! And I like how the waiter  or waitress serve you and you can see the chef make the food. I wished the TS3 had open restaurants like TS2 it makes the game more alive. :storm:

The Caliente household will be returning. Nina and Dina along with their re-imagined mother Katrina Caliente. So basically just like her daughters, Katrina is making the mistake of dating the infamous Don Lothario, the playboy man-whore. Nina wants to steal him from her mother, while Dina wants to save money and move out and get away from all the crazyness.

Well they were my favourites from TS2 along with the Goths, so I'm happy both of the families will be returning. :D

Also, two mods I can suggest for TS2 are the Sleeping on Community Lots and Skill Gaining on Community Lots. Cuz in TS2 (unlike in TS3) you can't gain skill progress or sleep on community lots. So this makes it really cool for me, cuz usually I send my teen witch Sims to the Palace of Neverending Light / Fortress of Eternal Darkness ( which are the good and evil witch secret lots ) so they can train their magic skill, and normally they can't sleep or nap and they would need energy.
Although now that I think about it, there are those Light/Darkness Thrones. xD

Questions ask to the SimGuruGrant

Simified: Will there be Seasons or any kind of weather in The Sims 4 base game?
Grant: With The Sims 4 base game we are focusing on gameplay and Sims themselves to make it a great experience. Weather is something we'd like to have in the base game, but right now, with The Sims 4, weather and seasons will not be present in the base game.

Simified: Will there be an online store, like The Sims 3 Store, in The Sims 4?
Grant: The game is still in a pre-alpha state and we have not reached this point in development so I cannot comment on this.

Simified: Will Sims be able to have and own cars? Will cars in The Sims 4 have functions similar to The Sims 2 (opening doors, etc.) or will they be like The Sims 3?
Grant: Sims will definitely be able to own and have cars! As far as how they will function, I cannot comment on that yet. I do know that opening doors, like in The Sims 2, would require a lot from our animations team, so this may or may not happen.

Simified: Will it be possible to build more than 5 floors?
Grant: This question is actually for SimGuruHouts since he's Build Mode, but I can say the team is always working on developing the game to make it the best it possibly can be. (SimGuruHouts mentioned during his Build Mode demo that currently, in The Sims 4, it's 3 floors and a roof but they are working and hoping to make that higher.)

Simified: Will there be curved walls? Is it true we will we be able to adjust wall heights?
Grant: There will be adjustable wall heights! It's something new we're doing and you may noticed it in the arrival trailer. We may or may not be able to offer curved walls, but we are adding in curved fences. Curved fences are new too and we're hoping players will like them.

Simified: Are there any new skills in The Sims 4? Any returning skills?
Grant: There will be some new skills with The sims 4 such as bartending but also some familiar returning skills too, such as gardening, writing, cooking and painting. Cleaning is also there but it's not a skill, like in The Sims 3.

Simified: In The Sims 4, we're getting body sculpting features. How will the game deal with our Sims losing and gaining weight, becoming more or less muscular?
Grant: So the game dealing with weight loss and muscle loss based on your Sims habits. If your Sim eats healthy and exercises, they'll lose weight and tend to be more muscular. If your Sim chooses to eat unhealthy, like always munching on pizza, not really exercising, your Sim will tend to gain weight and be less muscular. It's all about the choices your Sim makes and you as the player will make. Sims will not react to their weight however.

Simified: You say that objects and clothing will be able to affect your Sims' moods. Can you go into any more depth on this?
Grant: Clothing in The Sims 4, will use the buffs system (called moodlets in The Sims 3) and they will act as tags on the clothing to give your Sims' different mood changes to help improve their mood. While clothing won't fully alter how your Sim feels, it will help towards changing their mood.

Simified: Can we have baby showers and other parties?
Grant: With The Sims 4 there will be this great new goal based events system that will allow for various types of events. Can't say if baby showers are included with this, but your Sim could setup parties such as a "Singles Event" which would gather all single Sims in the neighborhood. Careers will also use this new events system too, so if your Sim is a Chef for example, Chef's will have special event dinners to attend where that helps relationship with their boss as well as job performance.

Simified: Are babies going to have moving limbs just as back in The Sims 2?
Grant: No comment on this as we are not ready to talk about younger Sims yet.

Simified: Also will babies have more interactions and be able to be held by their children siblings?
Grant: No comment on this as we are not ready to talk about younger Sims yet.

Simified: Will the hair detail and texture in The Sims 4 be improved? Will we see moving hair?
Grant: With The Sims 4, we have a brand new art style, as you have noticed. This new art style does reflect the direction we are going with The Sims 4 however, the game is still in pre-alpha stages so textures on hair you may have seen in Create a Sim or on Sims may be tweaked or improved. As far as moving hair goes, that would require a lot of animations work and would actually affect game performance. We would also need to add more physics into the game just to support the movement of hair. We know this is something people do want, but we just don't have the resources available to make it happen with The Sims 4.

Simified: Will there be a return of cut-scenes in The Sims 4 for important moments in the Sims' lives?
Grant: There are no cut-scenes in The Sims 4 at the moment, but there could be. Not saying yes or no.

Exactly. Again, they're really really sucking at this marketing thing. xD
But I mean I guess once the game comes out we can watch popular YouTubers play the game and judge it there, and see if it's worth buying or not.

Yeah that's a good idea. They really don't have a clue on how to market the game, and to be honest I don't think they really know what fans of the series want.

Just read the interview, I'm really sorry, but I'm just not feeling it for this game.

'We'd like to have seasons in the base game' calling bs on that, if they're able to add it in via an overpriced expansion, they are able to add it to the base game.

'no moving hair and opening car doors.' Its freaking 2014, we've got games where you can explore actual cities, games that give you an entire country to explore, and you're telling me it's 'too much work' to add in moving hairs? WTF?

Also the floor limit sucks.

Don't get me wrong, I know that they've got limits. But this just feels so meh-ish...

I know right they should be able to have the Sims hair move just like in TS2. I mean Assassin Creed 4 characters hair moves so why cant they have the Sims hair move in TS4? And TS4 better have good interactions like in TS2 where you can listen to music, talk, and woohoo in the cars. :storm:

Well I mean the other huge feature besides the Emotions is the multitasking system. Where they can do multiple things at once, so that should make the game feel allot better I guess.

Also, they stated that the inclusion of dynamic moving hair would cause lag since it would effect all Sims and they have a ton of animations. Plus it's a completely useless and unnecessary feature in my opinion, even if it is just aesthetic it's not like you'll pay attention to it at all, plus it might cause annoying clipping issues.

Also, here is the new Russian Gameplay trailer: http://vimeo.com/102036983

A lot of people think it is, so if he's there then Cassandra is also gonna be in the game.
If true, then Alexander is a child, Cassandra would be a teen, Bella would be a young adult (with a few days left) and Mortimer would be an adult.
So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :D

I have a bunch of other mods that tweak the game and make it better.
Also I recommend getting the Apartment Life Fixes Mod @ ModTheSims
It fixes a number of bugs that are in Apartment Life, that weren't fixed by EA after the release of the EP.

Edit: Also get the Stuff Pack Objects Fix Collection for Apartment Life @ ModTheSims
It fixes a number of glitches with objects found in Stuff Packs like H&M Fashion Stuff.

Apartment Life Unofficial Fixes Patch - http://modthesims.info/d/299586

Stuff Pack Objects Fix - http://modthesims.info/d/299597

Note: The installation for the Stuff Pack Fix is a lil different, so read up on that.

As for moving into apartment it's really easy, just find an apartment building (it should have a floating building icon above it in Neighborhood view instead of a Plumbbob).
Each apartment can have up to 4 Move-In slots, meaning you can move in up to 4 families into a single apartment lot.
Once you choose which apartment you want, townies will move into the empty ones (not the apartment slots, they wont fill any slots).

Neighborhoods besides Belladonna Cove don't have Apartment Lots placed from the get-go, so you'll have to place them via the lots menu at the Neighborhood View.

Read up on Apartments at the SimsWiki - http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Apartment

Sorry for asking so many questions im new playing TS2 on pc. I have only played it on console. :storm:
Title: Re: THE SIMS 4!
Post by: White Queen on July 30, 2014, 05:54PM
Neighborhoods in TS2 are divided into two categories - Main neighborhoods and sub-neighborhoods.
If your chosen neighborhood is say Pleasantview, from there you can visit the sub-hoods like Bluewater Village, the Vecation hoods, the university hoods, the magical world, the hobby world and Downtown.
You cannot however visit another main neighborhood. So you can't visit say Riverblossom Hills for instance. You have to move there.

If you don't see any of the sub-hoods in the list of destinations, just add them via the circular buttons at the top of the screen while at the Neighborhood view screen. You need to do this for each main neighborhood.
Some sub-hoods like the hobby one and the magical world are already available and don't need to be added, you just need to have enough hobby enthusiasm to go to the specific hobby lot or for the magical world you need to be a witch or have one in your household.

Babies will function somewhat like the babies in TS1, they will be tied to an object (a small baby crib thing).
Meaning the baby cannot be taken from the crib, and you can't walk around with it.
There are several interactions tied to the crib, like snuggle, make funny faces, talk to, breastfeed/bottle feed and so on.

Also ownable cars, taxis and ghosts will not be in the game. But you can see decoration cars driving on the streets of the Worlds.

Btw, you buy books directly by clicking the bookshelf. *Slow Clap* Bravo EA. (lazy bast***s)

This is a huge disappointment :(
At first, toddlers and pools were the first features to go in "The Sims 4," but it seems that the following features that will be removed are even more serious, this time going with fewer careers.

The smaller world for "The Sims 4" will also have fewer careers, as reported by IncGamers. So far, what has been listed as careers from those who have been to the Creator's Camp are the following:

- Entertainer: Musician/Comedian

- Writer: Author/Journalist

- Painter: Master of the Real/Patron of the Arts

- Secret Agent: Diamond Agent/Villain

- Criminal: Boss/Oracle

- Astronomer: Space Ranger/Smuggler

- Culinary: Chef/Mixologist

- Tech Guru: eSport Gamer/Start-up Entrepreneur.

These jobs can be attended to in schools, according to the Sims Legacy Challenge, where the school career will now follow objectives such as being promoted by raising grades from the starting point of C-students. There are also demotions in effect that can put players to the D-level.

At the end of the Sim's career, retirement is also a returning option, where they will get their daily pension check that is equivalent to a portion of their former salary, but players can also easily continue to work full time as an elder.

Dear EA, this is a sequel, in a sequel, you're supposed to add things. We get that a few things have to go, but this is getting ridicoulous.

Im hoping careers will be a bit more fleshed out in return. I remember how easy it was to add careers in sims 2, makes no sense to reduce them

Ok, I just watched TheEnglishSimmer's TS4 Gameplay video. (She was invited to the Creators Camp, and got to play TS4)
Her video changed my view on this game, it's absolutely stunning.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H04pcqnSmbk&list=UU6jZvmJ7QJ_LAH-DpMpLf2Q

I honestly think sacrificing toddlers and pools (and several other features) for this enhanced social/life simulation was absolutely a good choice. Just watch the video and you will see how in-depth everything is.
No more meeting a sim, talking to them for hours and having the possibility to get engaged after several romantic interactions (Like in TS3), the emotions thing is really amazing and it makes the game that more challenging and entertaining.
It pushes you to take care of your Sims and make them happy, instead of ignoring their mood and just making them finish what they were doing and then take care of themselves.

And the multitasking is so cool, how they can walk and talk at the same time is amazing to me.

Also I honestly prefer babies being bound to their crib things, because...let's be honest who puts their babies on the floor. (TS3/2 were like that)
Plus they look cuter now, and not like wrapped burritos as in TS3.

Also I'm super happy the Goth family is finally in a Sims game, with all four members. (In the previous games one member was always missing, Alexander in TS1, Bella in TS2, and obviously Bella and Mort were kids in 3)
So I'm stocked that Bella, Mortimer, Cassandra and Alexander are together. Yay! :D

The pregnant Sim in the video was sitting, watching tv, playing on the tablet and talking to her family at the same time.
Wow I expected Sims being able to do only two interactions at the same time, but this is amazing.

I agree haha, when I was making him I didn't like the way the Sim looked at first, then I edited a few things and bam that came out of it and I had to fan myself off haha.

She does look like Jean! I didn't really intend to do that but after working on her I realized she did, I had originally had the purple topped, green bottom dress chosen for her and she looked a lot like Ariel, but then I changed it.

Guess I missed the post on this, but are these Sims 4 Sims?  If so, how are you getting access to making them?  Will they be usable in the game when it comes out?

Download the Sims 4 Create A Sim demo from Origin.
While in the Origin client, mouse over the Free Games tab and select Demos and Betas.

You are allowed to save your Sims to a library and share them with everyone, so it seems like you maybe able to use them once the game comes out.

I know it's just a demo, but I am really hoping for more clothing options in the final game, I assume there will be, but the full outfit department is seriously lacking.

Yes there will be more clothing options in the full game.
Also for those who haven't heard, family trees will not be in TS4.

Family trees will probably be added in a expansion pack just like Generations in TS3. :storm:

Yeah, your probably right. But still, the Family Tree feature doesn't seem like anything requiring too much "resources" to add.
I'm just a lil bummed that it wont be in the base game, since it was in TS2 and TS3 since base game, but at the same time it's not that big of a loss.

Those might not be Aliens, just Sims made to look like them.
And also seeing as Ghosts won't be in the base game, I doubt any other life state is. :(

I won't be able to get the game. :( I usually get them in physical copy but at the moment it's just to expensive.
And school is starting soon and I need the money for supplies. :'( T_T
So yeah, I'll have to wait until the prices drop. (curse my country for not using the Euro currency like the rest of them)

Edit
Also googled your problem and found the solution on ModTheSims.
Go to TS4 installation folder (should be in your Origin Games folder if you've got the game digitally) then into Game > Bin.
There rename TS4.par to The.Sims.4.Launcher.par (Sims 4 still has a launcher ??)
If it doesn't fix it, I guess rename it back. Idk

So I have been playing the Sims 4 all night and I am really impressed with the emotions. The social interactions have gotten better and hopefully there are more in expansion packs. Also the multitasking is amazing like how Ashaad works out and talks to Don Lothario at the same time. I truly cant wait for the expansion packs to come out! This game is not as bad as I thought. :storm:

I love the Sims, and have been playing the Sims since there was only Sims 1, but Sims 4 does not live up to what any of the past games had to offer. Specifically 2 and 3. Sims 4 to me feels like a Sims 3 remake, and it's not even a very good one.

They took out countless features to focus on other things to improve the game but I don't think they improved it. By trying to over simplify the controls and layout of the game, it turned out pretty sloppy and almost difficult to use. Navigating around is a lot more complex then the past sims games, and it almost feels like there is to much going on while also feeling like not enough is happening.

I'm not saying I hate Sims 4, but they have a lot to do if I am to consider it good. Not to mention the countless features that should be in the game that they either took out, or that they just haven't put in, such as a height slider.

I think Maxis is also over reacting, I'm sure there are lots of fans who love the game, but if they are going to get upset because other fans don't like it then they really only have themselves to blame. They made it, they took out the features everyone wanted, and there is lots of fan feedback from the games that they could have listened to.

It's good to read your guys' comments about the game.  I'm still not sure if I'm going to get it.  So far, from what I've read in this forum from those who have already started playing plus my friends, the negative reviews are just slightly ahead of the positive ones.

I still don't have TS4, and probably won't for some time. (I seriously didn't expect it to be this expensive, plus school is eating up my money xD)
I've read that Ghosts were re-added on October 1st. (they were missing from the base game appearantly.)
Pools will be re-added sometime in November, and new careers will be introduced in December.
All as free updates, so that's cool I guess. Would have been really stupid if EA made people pay for those features.

Over on The Sims website, Daniel has a top 10 list of things you "need to know about the new careers update". The basics are that there's a new business career path to become an Angel Investor or Business Tycoon. There's also the new athletic career path to become a "Hall of Famer" or the Mr. or Ms. Solar System. Matching outfits have also been added with the new career choices.

New interactive objects have also been included, which bring with them the bonus of being rewarded for interacting with said objects. The career update for The Sims 4 is free, by the way. EA is still on damage control duty over the pools and toddlers fiasco.

The Sims 4: Get to Work Expansion Pack coming April, 2015.

It seems the expansion is a combination of The Sims 2: Open for Business and The Sims 3: Ambitions, as it features the ability to run your own business like a bakery, clothing store or a furniture store. And also features (appearantly) 3 active careers (where you can control what you're doing): Law Enforcement, Medicine and Science.

Aliens are the life state of Get to Work.

https://youtu.be/DMLB9QFUu8g?t=3m38s - Interview by SimsVIP

We are also appearantly getting an Alien trailer next week.

Features:

* Create-A-Sim

- Can be created in CAS
- Have different unique skin tones (2 x Purple, 2 x Green, 4 x Blue and Whitish Grey)
- Have different unique eye colors and pupils
- Pointy Ears
- Have a special alien high-tech outfit

* Human Form (Child aliens have no access to this ability)
- Aliens can assume a Human form, thus being able to hide the fact that they're aliens from the neighbors.
- The Human Form is completely customizable, and can be changed at any time. (The only thing you cannot modify is the Fitness/Fatness sliders, but the body and face can be manipulated)
- Aliens can change from Alien Form to Human Form (and vice versa) at any time.
- Aliens can be living right next door and you won't even know it. (You can get close to the alien sim and uncover their secret)
- Doctors, Scientists and Detectives have special ways to uncover aliens.
  * Doctors via X-Ray scans
  * Scientists via "Accuse of being an Alien" interaction
  * Detectives via Fingerprints
- Nearby Sims get a negative buff(s) when near an alien in their natural form.

* Psychic Abilities
- Aliens are able to read the mind of a Sim, instantly learning all their traits.
- Aliens are able to mind wipe a Sim, making them forget recent events. (such as discovering the identity of the alien if uncovered)
- Aliens can telepathically daze/stun a Sim, putting them in the Dazed emotion. (?, unsure about this one)
- Aliens can "connect their mind" with a fellow Alien (and maybe normal Sims too) and 'empathize' with them.
- Aliens can mind control another Sim. (unsure)
- Aliens can telekinetically alter the properties of a collectible, transforming it into another. (Alien Children can't use this)

* Reproduction
- Male Humans and Aliens can be impregnated. (unsure if only through abduction, or also through WooHoo with another male alien)
- Female Humans and Aliens can get pregnant and give birth to alien babies.
- Alien babies come with their own unique Birth Certificate and Futuristic Alien Baby Crib. (+ Alien baby outfit)
- Human and Alien DNA works simmiliarly to how it did in the Sims 3 Seasons.
Example: 100% Human Sim and 100% Alien Sim have a child, the child is 50% Human and 50% Alien.
If that hybrid has a child with another human sim, the child will be less an alien and more a human. So it might not have access to it's Telepathic abilities, but may inherit Alien physical characteristics. (skintone, eyes, pointy ears etc)

* Sixam
- Sixam is the Secret Lot coming with the Expansion, and it's the homeworld of the Aliens. (previously only mentioned in past Sims games)
- It has unique plants, minerals, crystals and brand new collectables called Geode Nodes. (found only on Sixam)
- Alien living space.
- Aliens roam the planet. (duh!)
- You can go there though a Portal that can be created via the Science career or through modifying your rocket with a high Rocket Science skill, enabling it to create a "wormhole" and travel there.
- It appears as a selectable location when using the Travel interaction. (I believe only available to Aliens) [unsure about this one]
- Phones don't work while on Sixam.

* Other Interactions
- Discuss Brainpower
- Discuss Human Foods
- Search with Probe
- Secret Handshake
- Discuss weird atmospheric pressure

* Misc. Info
- Aliens have their own Urn/Tombstone.

Aliens in the Sims 2 were basically normal Sims with green skin and black eyes. In the Sims 3, they had Mental abilities and that Brain Power motive (instead of Energy) which I really liked. And seeing the telepathic stuff return in The Sims 4 is really cool. Can't wait for more info. :)

Some bits of information:
- You cannot visit the three active career lots. (Science Facility, Hospital, Police Department)
   * You can only go there if you're in the respective career. (unsure if you can go at any time, or when your shift starts)
   * Pregnant Sims are a mild exception, they can go to the Hospital to give birth and can bring one Sim with them.
   * Sims from your active Household cannot be arrested and taken to the Police Dp.
- The three career lots are in their seperate "hidden worlds" and are not lots in any World (Oasis Springs, Willow Creek)
- You cannot edit the career lots in Build/Buy Mode. (unless you use a new cheat launching with the expansion)

- Magnolia Promenade is the new world. It has only one neighborhood, which has 4 lots.
  * Those 4 lots are retail businesses.
  * Sims can live in this world.

- Max Floor amount has been increased by 1. (via upcoming patch)
- You can now rotate the entire lot and everything on it will rotate. (Terrain paints, building, plants etc) (via upcoming patch)
- You can now place a larger lot into a smaller size lot and it will squish the buildings and stuff in order to fit it into the smaller lot size. (via upcoming patch)
- Basements (via upcoming patch)
  * You can build two floors into the ground, and for the first time, you can remove the ceiling like this:

Sims 4 first Stuff Pack: The Luxury Pack
The Sims 4 is releasing its first "Stuff Pack" next week on May 19th for $10, EA has announced. It's a "Luxury Pack," which means it adds a bunch of fancy high-end furniture and clothing to the game, as well as two objects with new Sim actions associated with them: a drinking fountain and a banquet table. Snazzy!

It seems like they are going hard on expansions this time around.
Title: Re: THE SIMS 4!
Post by: White Queen on August 08, 2015, 10:25AM
This expansion seems like a type of "filler". With it's only purpose being to leech money while they try to come up with something worthwhile. Was heavily disappointed when they announced it, and then I lost complete interest in it when one of the dev's said on Twitter that there won't be a Life State in this one. (The first time that a Sims main title does not have a Life State since the days of TS1 generation)
Missed opportunity for vampirism if you ask me.

Not to mention they've released 3 Stuff Packs (the third one coming out in a couple of days) in a single year. I don't think they've ever released 3 Stuff Packs in a year (usually just 2), and I feel like they won't stop with Cool Kitchen. Plus there's the whole Game Packs thing, which is just another layer.

EA is getting absolutely desperate for money, I am heavily disappointed with how the 4th Generation of the Sims is progressing. (or should I say regressing)
In a span of half a year, they've released 1 Expansion, 2 Game Packs and 3 Stuff Packs. Instead of developing & releasing so many things in such a short span of time, they could have instead made less DLCs but worked harder into creating truly memorable additions to TS4, with more content and richness, that would ensure a longer play-time before getting bored of it.

I truly miss the days of the TS2 (which in my opinion was the "Golden Age" of the The Sims franchise), where every expansion brought so much rich flavor and content to the game, every EP had 'character' and depth. I remember feeling such excitement reading about them before they were released.
TS3 was really nice too, had a lot of strides in terms of features (Open Worlds, Traits, CAS Improvements), and it had expansions with unique themes that were new, however I felt they still lacked the depth TS2's Expansions had achieved. Don't get me wrong, I love TS3's expansions (Island Paradise and Supernatural are absolutely amazing), it's just it felt like I knew almost everything about the expansion by just reading a bit about it, where as TS2's Expansions, that would barely even scratch the surface.

Also I feel like as the franchise has progressed, the 'difficulty' and 'maturity' of the games has drastically decreased in favor of more (personally unwanted) 'silliness'. Again bringing up TS2, where you actually feel a sense of satisfaction for achieving something, and you get rewarded for that achievement. Managing your relationships and needs was harder in TS2 (not to mention TS1, where needs and relationships were absolute nightmares [in a good way]), whereas in TS3 things got extremely simplified with the loss of the Lifetime Relationship bar in favor of a single Relationship bar. (which was incredibly easy to fill and maintain) The same happened with needs, becoming easier to maintain. (Example: Eating a single serving of pancakes in TS2 would usually fill 1.8/4 of your hunger bar [at low Cooking skill], while in TS3 it would completely fill it up [again at low cooking skill])

The Silliness aspect of the series (I feel like) was significantly magnified for TS4, to levels where it's completely repetitive and annoying. TS1/2 had it's silly moments of course, however they were nicely executed and had a very intriguing style of humor. (Such as The Social Bunny, The Therapist Guy, the Dancing Hula Ladies when your elder sim [who has lived a good life] dies of old age and Nightlife's Ms. Crumplebottom)
Another thing that this 'Silliness' aspect has majorly affected in a negative way (in the 2 recent main titles [TS3/4]) are ghosts.
In the TS2, the Ghosts are truly menacing (in a good way), where I just feel the obligation to either delete the tombstones on my lot (or move them to a cemetery lot) otherwise I risk one of my living Sims dying of Fright (if the ghost scares them). (Plus the creepy ghost sounds that they make just adds to the atmosphere)
In the TS3 (and 4) ghosts are crap. You can do anything with them - marry them, woohoo with them, and even [seriously] have ghost babies with them (as is the case in TS3). Plus they can no longer scare you or anything, they don't really pose any threat to your living Sims' wellbeing, they've just been degraded to an annoyance. (especially the horrendously cheesy music that plays when one comes out of their grave)

And the biggest thing this that has heavily been impacted by this growing "Silliness" and decreasing difficulty is something that is present in nearly all Sims titles (including Spin-offs) - and that is Death. (not the Grim Reaper xD)
In TS1 once a Sim dies (usually happens by fire since it's an extremely probable event in TS1 xD) that's it, you can never truly bring them back in the state that they were before they died. You can bring them back as a Zombie (via Ms. Lucille) but that has negative side-effects such as randomization of Personality Points, loss of Skill levels and the permanent green skin. (Zombie-ism is irreversible)
In TS2, the finality aspect of Death was further magnified with the addition of Life Stages and aging. The only three (non-cheating) methods to bring Sims back is through The Resurrect-O-Nomitron [University EP] (which requires you to be at a certain level in the paranormal career to gain access to it), The Genie Lamp [Freetime EP] (wishing to bring someone back) and an Evil Witch's most powerful spell. [Apartment Life EP]
And all these options have a chance to bring your Sim back as a Zombie (which is as in TS1, irreversible and mostly negative as it renders Sims infertile) [with the Evil Witch's spell bringing the Sim back always as a Zombie]
Plus even though there are ways to preserve your Sim's youth (such as the Elixir of Life), there is no way to revert a Sim back to a previous life state (as is possible in TS3). So if you bring back an Elder Sim, you're still pretty much screwed. (as Elder Sims are pretty useless, and the females are infertile)
In TS3, there are several ways to bring back a Sim, some incredibly easy, some medium in terms of difficulty. Not to mention the several ways to revert aging, and go back to previous life stages. Because of these reasons, Death's sense of finality is further diminished and played down.
We will see how things develop in TS4 in terms of how Death is handled. So far only 2 methods are available (through the base game) to resurrect Sims, and 1 way to revert aging (but not the life stage)

Oh wow, I honestly didn't mean to write such an article xD Originally I just wanted to share my opinion on TS4 Get Together, and got carried away a bit. xD Sorry guys

Its fine lol! So are you still getting Sims 4? :storm:

I couldn't agree with you more White Queen.

After playing the Sims 4 for a little I have come to like it some, but I don't think I will like it as much as Sims 3. To be honest I feel like 4 is only an upgraded version of 3 that they removed everything from. EA keeps making all these expansions and packs, it honestly feels like you blink your eyes and there is another one released.

I wish they would focus on more things that could actually make the game better rather then adding more icing to the cake. Life states are such a fun addition to the games, and I have to say I am disappointed they aren't adding another in this next expansion.

It honestly feels like in the Sims 4 that if you left your Sims alone they would probably do better off then if you actually played them. I really feel like I don't have to do anything for them, the only really impact controlling them seems to have is to find them a job, and to help get them a relationship. Otherwise they seem to be able to do everything else just fine on their own.

I agree with yall both, but I would like to have Story Progression in The Sims 4. I honestly don't like rotational gameplay, because I want to focus just on my family. This is another aspect I miss from the Sims 3, because all the other npc had kids, find jobs, and moved out on there own. :storm:

So I am not sure if anyone else has this problem or maybe knows a solution. But in my game it seems that whenever a fire starts I'm not able to do things like save, or leave the property. The biggest issue with this is that I never see the fires, it is almost like other places in the neighborhood catch fire and because of this it prevents me from doing anything and it stays like this forever (at least forever so far), which is a pain because that means I lose all the time played that I didn't save.

The Sims 5 Already??

http://christiandaily.com/article/the-sims-4-rumors-ea-skipping-on-porting-the-sims-4-to-focus-on-console-friendly-the-sims-5/53600.htm

It seems like The Sims Company is trying to distract players from asking the real questions by flooding "The Sims 4" with fun new expansions and releases. Earlier this month, gamers got "The Sims 4: Dine Out" pack, the third expansion for the fourth installation of the ever-popular simulation videogaming series, "The Sims."

Then, not long after, The Sims company decided to include another neat little expansion to add to "The Sims 4" collection by releasing "The Sims 4: Kids Room Stuff" yesterday, June 28.

However, as enjoyable as the expansions may sound, many still have their eyes on the prize: a version of "The Sims 4" for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. When exactly are gamers getting the popular simulation series on console?

For months on end, The Sims Company has been tiptoeing around the whole issue of the missing console versions of "The Sims 4," withholding official announcements regarding the highly-demanded version of their current installation of "The Sims" game.

Now, rumors are popping like pimples all-over the internet with speculation fresh from the mill trying to pinpoint the exact reason why gamers are seeing a delay in the PS4 and Xbox One "The Sims 4" release.

While some more positive-minded publications blame the delay on Maxis and EA coming across a stumbling block while porting the game on console, others speculate that the companies may have skipped getting "The Sims 4" on console entirely.

According to a report by Mobipicker, there is a likelihood that EA has dropped plans for getting "The Sims 4" on consoles. All of "The Sims" installations had some sort of console port, all except for "The Sims 4," which has gone on without any official news from EA, Maxis, or The Sims Company regarding plans to get the game on Xbox One or PS4.

This has led some to believe that EA may actually be intentionally skipping out on console versions of "The Sims 4" to develop the next installation "The Sims 5," which could be designed for consoles from the very start. Though fans may not be expecting a fifth game in "The Sims" franchise, no one can doubt that the theory could be probable.

Love the addition of toddlers (finally!), and they've never been this in-depth. (or adorable!) Also the Vampires game pack - I haven't been this excited for any kind of pack since TS3: Supernatural.
Also Pets will be the next expansion pack. (Not confirmed, but code from the newest patch leaked and it has several Cat, Dog, Small Dog and Horse code strings) That basically confirms that it is the next expansion, since two months ago, some code leaked that revealed the possibility of a Vampire game pack. Overall, this look like it'll be a good year for TS4.

Glad to see they're finally adding toddlers, though I have to say I'm not that much into the sims anymore. I just dont really agree with their stance on dlc, to me dlc is content that the developer thought would be cool to add, something that was thought of after a huge chunk of the games development. Im excited for vampires, sure. But its pretty much the same content that theyve put in 3 times in a row now (not sure if vamps were in 1?) same goes for all the other expansion packs, just kinda bleh
