Sorry the title of this thread is misleading. I made a craptacular mod for Black Bolt a while ago, but then I decided to do a good one. So even though he isn't complete, we still have the same thread title. He is getting close to being done, actually very little left to do. But this has been a learning experience for me and he is becoming more complete as I develop the skills necessary.

Here is what we have so far, I will update the link as more developments are made.

what we need (also will be updated as we get things taken care of)
- Xtreme needs a little touching up, I can't fix it but it still works, just give it a second
- Fourth Skin (ultimate)
- New Icons
- Loadscreen
- Added Overloads Mannequin.

I'll look into the power damage thing. Also I'll try removing the stateeffect also, but I think that just removed the fire from his feet while he is in the air, not when he starts to fly. It's like human torch's bursting into flame effect.

EDIT: I checked out the powers and all of the powers do damage except power 1. I have no idea how to fix this, I'll tinker around. If any of you know how to fix it let me know.

There was some progress by at least one modder on other Inhumans as well.. Gorgon, Karnak, Triton.. but I haven't heard anything in a long time so I'm not sure if there are plans to release them or not.

That was krum4o, and as far as I can remember, he put the Inhumans aside to work on his Asgard mods. I don't recall him posting anything about Triton or Karnak, he left a complete Clea and a wip Gorgon. Last post about that was like two months ago, tough.

hey buddhabear are you planning on releasing a 100% black bolt mod? i mean with his master blow (maybe from luke's jab skill) and his xtreme SHOUT! :) its because black bolt's current powerset is taken directly from iron man.

I had some help and updated the mod with out the fire on his feet and the damage added, but I am TERRIBLE at modding powersets, if someone else wants to tackle it, and try and give him better attacks, especially XTREME, then be my guest. I would love to see some improvements on my mod. But this is my first mod and I'm still learning. The animations are what stopped me, every time I tried to tweak the powersets I just ruined the mod.

Serph21, can you please post my tweakings on the Blackbolt powerset that I PMed you? I am very busy these days and don't have enough time to check my Box.net acount. I hope that can help people improving this mod, because even as directly Iron Man based I thought the powers were well justified and beyond the common sonic-based BB idea.

I updated the link to contain all of boreman's tweaks. My rationale with the powers was that Blackbolt rarely uses his sonic powers, mostly it's physical or energy attacks, plus Iron Man has one attack that looks perfectly sonic. If someone wants to utilize more than one animationset ( I love the idea of Lukes Jab for Master Blow) and work on a better Xtreme, that would be great with me. Just send me the tweaks and I'll update the link.

Also I need to get rid of Ironmans audio, we can't have Blackbolt speak.

lol i would take away his sound from the herostat. there'll be chaos everytime he talks. :P iron man's powerset is fine with me. this would be my idea of powerset for black bolt
luke's jab for the master blow
iron man's uppercut move is okay i guess
iron man's nano attack (not sure with the name) i really like this one. it fits perfectly the only prob is the anim should look like he's kinda shouting?
the only skill i dont like for black bolt is the skill of iron man. those beams that he fires and that bounces off walls. maybe just change it to something like cyc's optic beam to make it look like he's shooting electron beams from his antenna.

I was playing with Dark Mark's Magneto and noticed a power that would work perfect with Black Bolt. The power "shock waves" simulates Black Bolt's sonic scream nicely. It looks like a sonic wave and does incredible damage. You can kill armies with this power, it belongs in Black Bolt's arsenal.

These are great idea's and I appriciate the input, but I am terrible at custom powersets, if someone wants to add those powers great, but I'm not going to attempt it.

Yeah, Magneto's Shockwaves from the mod or DLC has a good Sonic Wave effect. Maybe a whirlwind effect to represent a Sound Vortex? The sonic forces would be so intense around the target that you could only hear a few bips or krees. For a shout effect, maybe Ms. Marvel's first power, Luminous, looks good.

Ok, I'm sick of Iron Mans powerset, I want to try a combined powerstyle of Iron man and Silver Surfer, this is the powerstyle I am thinking of
Power1 - Cosmic Beam - Silver Surfer
Power2 - Rocket Uppercut - Iron Man
Power3 - Nano Assault - Iron Man
Power4 - Surfer's Rage - Silver Surfer
Power5 - Speed Overdrive - Iron Man
Power6 - Energy Reroute - Iron Man
Xtreme - Galactic Might - Silver Surfer

if anyone could help me with this, or build one themselves (I know some of you can do this in no time) I would be very grateful, and I know it would make a perfect Blackbolt Powerstyle. Thanks anyone who can help. :bowdown1:

The fightstyles a pretty straight forward match the animation with the attack that you want,you will see the anima in the powerstyles at the begin as idle or a number add the fight pack you want and than match the number and it will pull from it just name them the same,you might want to play with them abit till you get the hang of it.

I'll continue to tinker, I think a Surfer/Iron Man mix will work and look great. I just can't get them to combine correctly.

I tested out what you posted and I just found a few things
 - He can't fly for some reason
 - Fire comes out of his feet when he uses some powers
 - He is using the bouncing around beams instead of the nano-assault power.

My main problem has been getting all the powers to work without fire-boots or a surfboard showing up. Thanks for all your help

EDIT: after taking a look its pretty close a few files missing from the acters folder and the packages need to be rewriten witch I think has been your problem the whole time,so give me a little time and I'll fix it all

Buddhabear100 the reason his feet still fire up is because that is ironman with Blackbolt skin we'll be better off just starting over with a blank slate of Blackbolt and adding powers from Ironman and Silversufer, I just wrote one of the pkgb's and noticed that, that being the case its going to take a couple of days but will be worth it as you will have a Blackbolt instead of Ironman with his skin and you can then customize it any way you want without conflict with the other files

Thank you so much for all of your help cvc, I think your right about starting from scratch. The Iron Man animations work great for blackbolt, and I was able to turn off the fire on his feet once upon a time, but it might just be easier to start at the beginning.

I just got done rewriting the talent and ps files no more fire or board but still going to take some time to match animations and effects if you dont mind I like the idea of the Magneto wave effect as Blackbolt shout going to put that in..

Buddhabear100 because my time is limited here are some clean pkgb's so you can work on it at the same time try different effects by placeing them inthe blackbolt effects folder and animations by changeing the number in the powerstat file here is a ex.

Still moving slow but have his first power mapped out,I think its best to use his voice as his most powerful weapon so here one power six to go... As you can see with the fairly clean packages you can just fill in the attacks,buffs,and what ever you want,now using someone else's effects a lot of the time you will want to recolor or even mix effects to get what you want.

Both you guys are right I think they said in the comic that a singal word would send worlds crashing,but I did read a comic once where he mumbled something and of course worlds came crashing,so will read up on his powers and just maybe use murer or mumble,wispher for a devastating extreme.I'm basically trying to help someone to understand the way to put powers and such on so they can enjoy doing it.

On the Marvel site there is a good story and reference so it seems even at long range its not a good idea for him to utter a peep as it even affects brain cells any way here's the article enjoy

Although reading this I believe he mite talk abit too much..I can see why i enjoyed Black Bolt so much as a kid great story and background.
So the first power stays and is named electron energy blast the full power of his voice should not be used in this game as its to powerful to depict correctly ("quasi-sonic" scream)

Blackbolt has whispered or talked quietly in the past, and only in battle situations or to deal with trouble makers, but not for conversation purposes, due to the power of his voice. But regardless, he has used his voice numerous times in the past.

He doesn't and he wouldn't. It would mean having the flesh torn out of the characters' bones, and insta-game-over.

You'd need Medusa (when she is not Doom-crazied) to get to understand him.

Sorry I havn't been on in a few days, busy, busy. Anyway, I've been looking over the packages and I can see where I was messing up. I am a huge Black Bolt fan, and I would never go against comic continuity....BUT, I think some sonic powers would be ok in combat situations. I know it may not be dead on with his comic book character, but for the sake of gameplay I think we should include them. I'll get to work on the packages now. Looks pretty simple actually. Again thanks for all your help.

Alright Buddhabear100 I believe this is one of the Sufers powers that you wanted and it fits right in as one of his powers,now this one you might want to recolor or even change the effect not the power???also at this point need a grab smash as they will most likely tie into the #4 power. I like the matter manipulation power, that works perfectly for Black Bolt, I hadn't even thought of that. I don't know how hard it would be to move the blast effect from his hands to his fork, but if all else fails we can recolor one of Cyclops's attacks and use that animation...just a thought.

Oh yeah sounds great, I ran in to a snag some how some where I changed something and now have silversufers flight anima no board hmmmm still looking may have to change #2 power.

Although Buddhabear100 is on holiday progress must continue so have added Ironman grabsmash and combo attacks no fire on boots but added red glow and trail to both hands also moved the 3rd attack to his head so need to add the 4th power I can't remember what Ironmans is but leaning that way??? That idea by Midnight Curse, rapid-tap Electron Burst Power this sounds like that attack of Ironmans where he shoots so maybe by changing the effect not the attack we could get something that will work??

Besides Electron Bursts and his voice, Blackbolt can create a field of electrons around himself (in a manner of a forcefield) that can repel at the most an MX missile at max speed.

The most devastating of his sonic effects is known as the Quasi-Sonic Scream.

This character is already really fun with only the four powers and grabsmash plus I have Ironmans extreme on him at the moment. Tomorrow power#5 or buffs two slot left open for idea's

Thor at the moment but will most likely change to one out of your pack before finish.So whatever ones will match the fightstyles in the pack.

EDIT:He is way powerful with that Magneto and Silversufer powers so dont need any more power the weakest one is the Master Blow witch is strange but dont want to make him even more powerful.Though their all his now not like it was set up before,He was really Ironman not any more he is Black Bolt now.

Can anyone post the lastest Blackbolt Mod. The only one I see linked is the one that uses the Silver Surfer and Iron Man powers. But it sounds like people have added/changed the mod significantly.

I too can't wait to have BlackBolt battle alongside my FF~!

Not that I think he really needs extra costumes (because his standard rocks) but are any ideas being generated?

It's that time again we need some defence powers for BlackBolt power #5 today and #6 for tomorrow any ideas out there on the Marvel Mods island??

EDIT:Lionsden99 I've been lookin I thought he had a blacker out fit but haven't found it yet still lookin.

EDIT: is there like a invisible sheild that he can hold out in front of him that would be cool?

Magneto has a large, spherical shield.

I'm thinking if there is something in Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum that can be used, like glowing in some magical item (does the Mirror of the Ancient One glow?).

What about Storm's (grabsmash) or Iron Man's (energy reroute, I think) "electri-fried" effects?

I couldn't find an Ultimate BlackBolt costume, but I have the issue of AoA with Blackbolt.  An evil clone of his is in it for like 2 panels who looks the same except a terribly disfigured jaw.  So pretty sure that's not a possibility either.

When you say "defense" power, do you mean like boosts? If so, something related to Terrigen Mists, using Storm's tornado Armor (or whatever it's called) animation recolored.

Edit: Whirlwind Armor, that was the name. Hopefully it looks good.

Blackbolt can manipulate the electron fields around him to create a forcefield capable of repelling an MX missile at max speed, according to Marvel Database. Yes, and a Terrigen Mist boost would be swell as well.

Yes, if it's possible. After all, not only are the Mists light blue in comics, but also all of BB new powers are colored like that.

Since this is a Buddhabear100 mod all adjustments should be made by him to get what (HE) wants but yes complete powerstyles and talent and effects and packages and so on..he should be back soon and when he is done you can get the mod and then costomize it for your self.

EDIT:We might even add one more power don't need it but who knows.

Hey everybody. I'm back from outerspace (colorado) and I can't believe how sweet this mod has become. All of the powers he uses are pretty fantastically represented. I couldn't have done a better job myself....really. Just by tagging along and watching how this mod is being put together has really helped my learn a lot about modding. Ok, so does anyone have any ideas about his Xtreme? I know it will be Quasi-sonic Scream, but what would be a good animation for it? Can anyone think of an effect that could work, probably something that radiates out from his body, I'm going to look through the Xtremes and check if there are any that look enough like shockwaves.
I have no skinning experiance, but the costumes BliZZ posted look like they would work well, if someone could skin them. The fork doohicky on the Ultimate costume may be a problem, but what do I know.

the fightstyles itself are the reg punches and kicks they are found in the acters folder for ex.

02_daredevil  and  daredevil_4_combat   by switching these with other characters and naming them this daredevil will have their moves hope that helps alittle more??

So do I need to change the files in the effects folder to ones that match up with the powers, or is the power animation what is in the effects folder. How do I tell which ea_power# will give me the animation I want. I might be getting myself all confused.

To change the animation you do that in the powerstyles file and to change the effects you do that in the effects folder too different things the best way to do it is make your effect put it in the effects folder then match it with a animation through trial-n-error the # until you get the one you want.

I like to say at this time the new Fightstyles pack has been made by Blizz and they are mapped out in the fightstyles thread.

Black Bolt is no skrull. He is an Inhuman. There was a skrull (a Super-Skrull, if you want to be accurate) pretending to be him, but nobody is making Wolverine-skrull or Xavier-skrull or Fantastic-skrull skins.

Didn't you know? MUA Blackbolt is actually a Skrull. Check his eyes and you'll notice they're green/yellow skrull-like. I think it was a nice easter egg-slash-spoiler.

Well Blackbolt has two sonic powers, the shockwave one cvc rigged up and iron mans Nano-assault power. I think we should pick one, and replace the other with a Master Blow type power, he doesn't seem to have one of those. Let me know what you think.

Buddhabear100 haven't heard from you in a few days if you changed the attack for the MasterBlow this only needs fourth skin,hud and I think thats all here are the files with the 2nd attack I put on still there just rename skins and huds to match where you put them.(If you need something else just let me know glad to help)off to work on other projects.

AHHHHHHHHHH... ok I don't know if it's my computer or just my ineptitude, but I'm having serious problems with the animations. I used the default animations, and I have most of the powers working with good animations, but I think they could be better. I'm just having a big mental block when it comes to combingin animation sets. I tried using Blizz's fightstyles, but I guess I don't understand them as well as I thought I did. Sorry I havn't written for so long, I have been pretty busy/sick. The skins look great btw. cvc  I know you've tried to walk me through it before, but I just have no idea what files I should be messing with. What would really help would just be a list of file locations and what they affect. Thank you for all your help, I'll get to work on adding the Master Blow power.

EDIT: cvc I just found a post by mark1234589, I'll just get my info from that thread, so you don't have to write everything twice.

Buddhabear100 I hope you get to feeling better.and ok about the tut I'm still having problems tring to make that mannequin, If some one could help us turn the npc Black Bolt into a  mannequin I would be ooh so grateful.

hey cvc, you used 3dmax before right, i dont know how much skill is required, but you can rip the models using 3D Ripper DX (see http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=1255.msg23830#msg23830 ), and then import them into 3dsmax (i think, i havent done it myself though).
after you rip them and import them into max, hopefully your skills will be good enough to make some mannys

MasterBlow causes knockback and stun damage and the grabsmash he grabs them exciting the molecules in their body which sends them fling up in the air and then smashing down on the ground.

If you want sometihn less sparkly, try what The Boy Sanga did with Captain Britain and the Human Torch manny. Just a guess.

Great work, we're getting pretty close to being done. Mostly working on animations and stuff.
I replaced a flying character with BB and that made him fly, but we need better flight animations. I don't know how to apply someone elses flight animations. Any pointers?

You pretty much have to adopt there fightstyles of the flier and use his animations so pick the one that you think best suits the character and start switching anima till you fill you have some thing that works,so its a little personal one animation wont fit everybody's taste.

- I need someone to fix his second power, which is supposed to be Master Blow and his Fourth power which loops for some reason, but I can't get it to stop.

tackle any of these and either post the updated mod or just send me the files, otherwise this is almost done!

Might I suggest a few power names:

Whirlwind Armor- Terrigen Mists
Magnetic Pulse- Hypersonic Shockwave
Molecular Mixup- Inhuman Blast
Nano Assault- Electron Outburst

Do we have a rapidtap Electron power yet?

Most updated mods would be either posted later or will be edited into the first post of the thread. I do not think BuddhaBear or cvc has it finished yet. However, once released, it would be cool if there was a preview vid.

I think it would be kind of cool if his xtreme was his only power with voice sounds. A one syllable word (like "no" or "war"), or a shout (like Wolverine in his boost).
Basically, what I'm saying is for it to be named like the word or just shout.

Well, at least that was what I was saying before I realized that neither Budhabear or cvc mentioned anything about needing either an idea for an xtreme or a name for it. The last thing he said was that he needed to fix the xtreme. So I'm guessing he's got the idea and the name already figured out.

The last update shows his powers are:

Electron Pulse: A bolt of energy that damages all enemies in its path.

Master Blow: A powerful melee punch.

Matter Re-Arrange: Re-arrange molecules in targeted enemy, causing internal $DMG.

Whisper: Radial energy shockwave, with smaller secondary shockwaves.

Inhuman Strength: Greatly decrease energy spending for entire party for a time.

Terrigen Armor: Terrigen Mist surrounds Blackbolt and damages enemies that touch him.

Shout: (Iron Man's Xtreme) Launch a flurry of missiles into the air, dealing massive $DMG_ENERGY to all enemies in the area.

 Hey guys...It looks like It has been a while since anyone replied to this thread!Just stopped by to say awesome job, and would like to be of assistance with providing the mannequin for Blackbolt! I use PS2 Textures when I make my mannequins so it has excellent quality! Anyways let me know if I can help out at all!

I'm releasing updates as soon as they come along. I'm giving him the icons that are just numbers 1-10 until I can find some way to make custom ones. Still getting the hang of editing them. I would love it if anyone can tackle it. Also if anyone would be willing to look at my files and see if they can figure out what's wrong with the extreme. I don't know if it happens to anyone else, but on my computer he freezes in the air for about 10 seconds and then does the X-treme.

I'm also getting into skinning now, so I will try my hand at his Ultimate Skin. Let me know if anyone thinks of a good skin I could use as a base.

hey, im ganna be making character icons all summer(cuz the computer im ganna be using cant run MUA, but it can run GIMP. Check out my signature for some of my first ones) and blackbolt was one of the first on my list of the "must-makes". ill post the icon here when i complete it:). and i can wait to play as him, i love bb!!!

Hello, is this thread still alive?, is BLack Bolt completed? ive downloaded this mod from the character catalog thread, but it doesnt has sounds and the xtra power doesnt works, any plans for fixing that?, great work with this mod, keep working. Saludos.

I thing i have a problem with the black bolt icons and powers, if i put together iron man and black bolt some iron man powers desappears, as well as some black bolt powers and the icons look bad.

I'm sorry this thread has died and the mod no longer works very well. I've had some pretty bad computer problems and can't even play MUA anymore. I'll try to fix the link so you can have as much of the mod as there is. Hope someone else can pick up where I left off.
