Title: [Other] Tutorial: Ripping Models from Marvel Super Hero Squad Online
Post by: Dorpond on July 28, 2016, 08:03AM
Maybe someone interested in this..

What do you need:
3ds Max (i'm using 2014)
Chipicao's "Unity Importer 1.0 beta8" ( http://bit.ly/2a1WTW6 )
Game Cache ( can be downloaded here - http://bit.ly/2ajt1Du or here - http://bit.ly/1ZRS55e )
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download Unity Importer script and install them (always read ReadMe file which attached in archive)
It should looks like this, for now:

After succesfull script installation, press "File" And then "Load Folder" and point to folder with your game cache
If you 3ds max get lags or do not respond - wait a some time, this may take a time to load resources.

After getting a lot of "CustomAssetsBundle" files, press on "+" to extend contents of file.
Example:

Note: If you see %charname_01% or something like that,it means this is a char model.
As you can see mesh have 3 lods (level of detail),and bones.
So let's import this stuff :
Press Left Mouse Button to put tick in checkbox or Right Mouse Button to open import menu

This is what i got :

Well, thats all i think,if you need an specific model you can search a nodes of any character which you want.
for example type "spiderwoman_02" for all nodes of "spiderwoman_02" then press "Enter",find "Spiderwoman_02" or "spiderwoman_02_prefab" and import.Enjoy.

Important Note:
99% of characters models have Body and Head textures, but head is not detached as separate object and you will get something like this after loading your saved model or applying textures :

But this is fixable:
Fix 1: Save model in .obj format and do not delete .mtl file/files
Fix 2 : Detach head face-by-face by Holding CTRL + Left Mouse Button and then apply head textures

After Head texture apply:

Done!

Too bad that my 3dsmax can't use Unity. I believe it also work for mobile games models.

My apologies, have you tried using this tool with other games? What about Avengers Alliance 2? the files have the assetsbunlde extension too. I can provide you some examples.

Well, this tool works only with Unity games.
MUA2 isn't on Unity engine IIRC.
But assestsbundle extension looks pretty interesting..can you upload some of this files?

Avengers Alliance 2 is a mobile app

These models are cell shaded to oblivion though, so I'm not sure how good they would look in MUA

Yep. That's the game. But I'll like to see the models myself before give a sentence, they look at least like X-men Legends in level of detail.
I'll send you a file Mr. Dorpond, yes?

Excuse me for necro but since i lost access to my old Mega account a lot time ago lot of content on this disk was lost..
Today i decided to reupload game files (yeah..this problaly sounds strange..why so much time later..well,i was have no time + some health problems...long story..)
You need to download the all archives from the Mega folder because they are multiple splitted and compressed.
After downloading all archives use WinRar and have fun!
Use these files to create game remakes, extract models and everything other whatever you want.

Hey Dorpond, I've been looking through these files and finding some cool stuff. However, I keep coming across characters whose textures are messed up. They have random large sections of transparency in their textures for no reason. Others have their textures with just the wireframe pattern. Have you encountered this, and if so, how did you go about fixing it? I'm using 3ds Max 2012
