So the tracker doesn't get flooded with leechers who don't seed.  All the sites I use are private and it ensures that there's always seeds.

I don't belong to Demonoid, but I save my invites for people I know and trust (no offense).  When someone you invite ends up being a hit-and-run user it looks bad on you.
