I've read in this brazilian website that marvelman is gonna debut on 2010 as the shadowy member of the cabal during dark reign. he's supposed to be gobby's secret weapon. so, what do you guys think of this character being introduced in the main chronology? do you like the character at all? won't it be redundant to have him and sentry in the same universe? isn't it kinda repetitive to have miss marvel, captain marvel, marvel boy, marvel girl and marvelman? is marvelman just another superman copy?

it is marvel's company. i think that other companies don't have such dynamic names, so they can't "sneak" them in as well as marvel.  "i am batman and this is my sidekick d.c. boy!" "they call me...the dark hoarse!" see id just doesn't work quite as well. :P

Not quite sure who Marveman is, but speaking of sneaking your company name in to a character... try being Witchblade's creator Top Cow.  I just can't think of a way to include that in a character name without being hilariously stupid.
Some day, someone will best me.  But it won't be today, and it won't be you.

he's a very cool character, specially the alan moore arc (i'm a huge alan moore fan, in case you haven't noticed =P). I just don't know if he fits inside marvel cause he's only had solo stories and have never been inside a superhero universe. So, marvel is walking on thin ice. if done well, he could be marvel's new posterboy, if done wrong, marvelman will go to limbo, maybe for good this time. plus, he's a supermanish character, and marvel already have hyperion, gladiator, sentry. I'm afraid it will get redundant.

It sounds like Disney invented the name on behalf of Marvel. "Let's create a hero and call him Marvelman". Why such easy to think of names for peeps sake...

And if this line is true:
Quotehe's a supermanish character, and marvel already have hyperion, gladiator, sentry
Then I'm not interested. Unoriginal character '>_> Unoriginal powers + easy to think of names = lazyness :P

For those not in the know, Marvelman (or Miracleman as he was known after Marvel put legal pressure on his publishers) was a copy of Captain Marvel (the Shazam! version, not the Kree one) created in, I think, the 1950s by Mick Anglo. So his character predates the Marvel comics company and is not named after it.
Like Captain (shazam!) Marvel and Superman, he was a rather dull, worthy, near omnipotent character with a "family" of derivitive moneyspinners like Marvelboy, Marveldog etc. He sank into obscurity until revived by Alan Moore in "Warrior" magazine in the 1980s. A brilliant set of stories followed, some of the best superhero comics ever, in my opinion. Later Neil Gaiman (of Sandman fame) took over the writing and also produced some good stories. The ownership/copyright/publishing rights were disputed for several years, and now it seems Marvel have got him.
This is Very Bad News. Unless Moore or Gaiman is the writer, it's unlikely much of worth will be done with the character. I shudder to think of Bendis writing him, as much as I do at the thought of Rorschach joining the Dork Avengers. Marvel have already ripped off the character's core concept with the awful Sentry, and look at the nothing he has been in the Bendisvengers.
Presumably MarvelMan will now spend all his time talking, in "street clothes", and running away from ninjas.Meh..

I don't know if that's a typo or not, but it's hilarious. That's what I'm gonna call them from now on. LOL!

Nope. Molecular Man only appears to Norman Osborn in the last dark avengers comic and this is pretty near the end of dark reign. The first time the shadowy secret weapon showed was in Dark Reign: Cabal one of the first comics of dark reign series and at this tme osborn clearly didn't know the existence of molecular man who was belived to be bonded to beyonder to create a cosmic cube.

now, I don't know what to think. do you believe that the so called secret weapon will be yet another individual?
