Final Battle

I just finished playing XML2 for the first time last night.  It was totally unmodded but still fun.  I had a problem in the final battle with Apocalypse.  When a hero would use Apocalypse's machine to get "powered up" with the four mutant powers, he or she could not do anything helpful but crash through the gates to get to the generators.  Once I got to a generator, I had to battle Apocalypse with the remaining three heroes.  None of the keys on the keyboard would activate Emma Frost's (Quicksilver's, etc.) power.

Has anyone else experienced this or was I missing something?

Mmm let me see if I got it right...
when you get the powers from Apocalypse's machine (Emma's beam, Quiscksilver's speed, etc.), only the active hero (the one that you powered) gain those abilities, if you change to anyone of your remaining characters, they wont have the new powers.

That is what I remember as well. So only the character that you controlled to get the powers (Polaris's blast, Emma's beam, etc.) will have them. If you want another character to have them you will have to use him or her at the generator. But then the previous character will lose his but I don't remember.

Yes, I understand that only the active hero who goes into the machine gets the powers.  BUT, the active hero ended up getting NO powers and lost his normal powers.  At least, for me, when I pressed Space Bar, E, etc., nothing happened at all.

If you aren't playing on a laptop try the number pad next to the normal keyboard keys. I think I needed that for my game. I also believe that when you use the machine something pops up telling you what keys to use.

I'm using a desktop, I did get the little menu that explained what keys to use, and I tried using the number keypad on the keyboard (along with lots of other keys -- LOL!)  Nothing got the powers to work. 

Thanks for the suggestions though.

Hmm that is weird. And you didn't mod the game at all. I'll try to think of another solution, sorry I couldn't be more help.

did you try to use "Use powers" + space, E etc.?

I don't recall trying that -- thanks for the tip.  I'll try it next time.

I  have too a bug of final battle. It's very ridiculous, but some characters take each other powers, exchange them or in general lose the powers.  And after this battle...... all characters move strange terrible jumps! LOl!

Maybe this shows just how tough and stressful the final battle really is -- it takes a toll on the heroes!    (just kidding)
