Have the developers ever said for sure whether height can be manipulated?  I've heard conflicting rumors.

Yes, the dev's said that height will not be in the Sims 4, because they want to focus on the new features such as direct manipulation CAS. Since height will require them to tweak all the animations to avoid clipping, but they did say that height might get added in a patch after the initial release of the Sims 4.

I hope they add It in at some point, I believe it is a feature that has been needed for a very long time.

True a survey by EA was created, which had several expansion pack ideas and concepts, to see which players would like to see.
But all this at the moment may or may not be just false rumors, seeing as we're about 2 months away from actual Sims 4 information.
The 2015 fiscal year began recently-ish, usually around this time EA should have began to promote the game, but nope they said that any new info will be coming sometime June or late May.
I think EA's a little lacking with their duties as of recently. I mean they made the game pre-orderable last August, and do they expect people to just pre-order when there's so little information about the game's features. There's nothing to motivate us.
Well hopefully the expansion pack ideas within the article you linked are more probable than not, cuz I really like the Magic School idea.

I just read the complete article you referenced.  I am now more discouraged than encouraged.  :(

I hope these are true to but I would expect them to come out with more info for the game I mean fall will be here before you know it. Also can you put up  the survey link or is it down?:storm:

And why? I am looking forward to the Generations, Pets, Seasons , and other ones I want dlc packs. :storm:

I don't care for games that you have to pay some sort of subscription for.  I read through some of the comments of people who were saying that they thought it was a good idea because it would save them money.  From what I understood, the DLC included in the "subscription" price is only for the first year, and most of the 12-16 expansions will not be released during that time.

It seems as though the game itself will be a big improvement over Sims 3 (btw, Sims 2 rules!), but I am skeptical about its cost now.

I agree with Fox, the price seems a bit crazy, and they really haven't been talking about the game very much.
