Not sure, but I'm guessing that the contract with Marvel has expired. Pretty standard stuff. It was the same situation with Activision on Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Here's hoping the license goes back to Activision. Say what you want about their business practices and their "quantity over quality" mentality the have to some games, but at least it'll give way to a potential MUA3 or XML3. They've discussed how they would possibly make one if they had the license back.
