ASH WILLIAMS
Across the vast multiverse, there have existed many different timelines involving the varied exploits of a Deadite demon hunter known as Ashley 'Ash' Williams.
Initially starting off as a cowardly, egotistical jerk who worked in the housewares department within his local town's superstore, S-Mart, Ash's life would be irrevocably changed forever when he drove with his friends Scotty & Shelly, sister Cheryl and girlfriend Linda one night to a mysterious, abandoned cabin in the woods.
Discovering a tape recorder alongside the infamous Necronomicon Ex-Mortis or 'The Book of the Dead', the group recklessly played the tape as the book's ancient writings were translated by the long deceased Professor Knowby and unleashed the dangerous Kandarian Demon upon their world.
Forced to kill his loved ones and various innocent people that randomly walked into the general vicinity of the cabin one by one as they became possessed by the demon and turned into crazed, remorseless, undead 'Deadites' which all conveniently shared a dark sense of humor towards their intended victims, Ash's sanity would gradually slip over the course of the two nights he unwillingly found himself trapped in the cabin.
Eventually snapping after nearly being possessed himself by the Kandarian Demon, slashing his sentient evil hand off his own body with a chainsaw and bearing witness to tons of possessed inanimate objects somehow all audibly laughing at him, Ash began to destroy everything in the cabin that so much as looked at him funny.
Working with the sole surviving victim, Annie Knowby, to attempt to turn the demon from a disembodied presence into a being of the flesh that could be killed and sent back in time to have its corpse properly disposed of in theory, the plan would ultimately be jeopardized as Ash's evil hand stabbed Annie in the back with the Kandarian Dagger as Ash was whisked back in time to 1300 AD with his car during the middle ages.
Having to be eventually forced to work with Lord Arthur and his round table as the prophesied Chosen One inexplicably written about in the pages of the Necronomicon as the hero to deliver them from the terror of the Deadites (in order to return back to his proper place in time), Ash grew over the course of this adventure from a self-absorbed idiot that was way in over his head to more of a noble and selfless antihero (in spite of often creating more problems that he has to solve, including having to defeat a Deadite doppelganger of himself twice over known as 'Evil Ash').
Soon defeating the threat of Evil Ash and the Deadite 'Army of Darkness' for the time being, Ash was provided a potion by a 'Wise Man', that would place him in a deep slumber and chronologically freeze his body for 600 years till he was back in the present.
Fortunately succeeding for once, Ash awoke back in his own time as promised and resumed his life as an employee of S-Mart to the best of his capability, in spite of the severe trauma of losing many that he loved or had grown to respect.
But one day however, action would soon strike again for Ash after several years of inactivity from the Deadites as a mysterious man dressed in a unappealing all-green outfit calling themselves 'Baron Mordo', had arrived from a different universe in the hopes of gaining access to the power of the Necronomicon for himself and his twisted magical needs.
Knowing how dangerous it would be if the book fell into the wrong hands, Ash did what he could to escape from Baron Mordo and keep the book safe, quickly grabbing his trusty boomstick and chainsaw as he did what he could to fight Mordo off, but was no match for the wizard's various spells.
With all hope seemed to be lost, Ash's uncanny, almost supernatural amount of luck would soon pay off as a mute magical being known as 'Paradox' used their own magical powers to pull Ash towards their own generated interdimensional portal to safety.
Finding himself unwillingly on a different Earth altogether from the one he left behind, Ash gave himself enough time to recuperate from the stressful battle and take in his surroundings, shouting at Paradox for an explanation before their attention was drawn to that of a sophisticated-sounding voice.
'Please do be respectful of Paradox Mr. Williams,' Doctor Strange casually responded. 'He may not be the chatty type, but he is still a clone of me and will send you back to Mordo without the Necronomicon, if it means continued stability of the multiverse.'
'Now just wait a damn minute here Doctor Bizarre,' Ash replied, agitated. 'For all I knew, your duplicate might as well have been working with that Baron fellow that attacked me at my new place out of nowhere. I never asked for this life, OK? It chose me. And as much as I hate to admit it, this book is my responsibility now. Can't even hold down a hard date without this book jeopardizing my life at every turn, so I got enough problems as it is without finding myself involved in even more messes.'
'Perhaps...' Doctor Strange said. 'But the primary reason we brought you to our universe Mr. Williams, is because we need all the help we can get against the Masters of Evil and the last thing any of us want, is for the Necronomicon to wind up in the hands of Doctor Doom.'
'Doctor Doom, huh? What's so dangerous about him?' Ash quipped. 'Was Doctor Calamity or Doom Slayer already taken?'
'You may joke all you want, but Doctor Doom is one of the most dangerous supervillains on record for this Earth and isn't one to be taken lightly.' Doctor Strange reaffirmed. 'His expertise in the mystic arts have even rivalled my own as the Sorcerer Supreme.'
'Really?' Ash responded. 'Well, things must be pretty bad for your world then if you have to start bringing folks like me from our own universes to yours all willy-nilly without our permission first.'
'In more ways than you know Ashley Williams,' Doctor Strange stated. 'Believe me that we wouldn't have interfered with your life at all if it wasn't urgent. You've fought off many Deadite forces in your lifetime and I believe your expertise would be greatly useful in stopping whatever the Masters of Evil are planning.'
'Hmm...' Ash thought audibly. 'Alright, tell ya what? I'll help you guys out, in exchange for finding a way to dispose of this book permanently. I'm sick of dragging this thing around like a ball to my chain if you know what I mean. Wanna start having more of a life again.'
'Very well then,' Doctor Strange confirmed with confidence. 'It may prove difficult to accomplish what you're asking for, but I'm sure I can contact my friends in the magical community and put a plan together to safely dispose of the Necronomicon when this is all over. Welcome aboard.'
'Thanks. And call me Ash.' Ash said, as he used his free hand to shake one of Doctor Strange's, the two of them swiftly heading deeper into the Sanctum Sanctorum to join the rest of the multiversal strike team formed by SHIELD to combat this grave threat...
