ok so after The Boy Sanga mentioned that the vision mod had a phasing script i decide to take a look at it and see if i could make it work for xml2.  Well i looked at it and took some stuff from it and it does work  :runaway:.  Though it does have problems. I have split phasing into two powers one phases her and the other makes her solid again.

The problem is if you jump while in phasing form, you keep floating up and up, out of the map and then you either eventually die or stay up there and theres nothing that can bring you out of it.  Another thing you stay at the level you are when you phase, so if theirs stairs you cant climb them or if you were high up and have to climb down, you cant, you just walk on air.  Another thing if you are phased and a power knocks you back you keep floating on and on in the knockback animation and cant escape the phase form.

So anybody have any idea on how i can 1) make her jump normal without floating away 2) give her the ability to still be able to go up and down stairs, and stay at the level she is suppose to be at and not walking on air.

just to let you know, the "setnoclip" is the exact same thing used in the juggernaut mission to make him come through the wall

You could edit the "jump" section of her ps so that it turns off noclip at the start of a jump and it turns it on at the end of the jump. Just have the boost (I assume it is a boost) set a special affector on, and have the noclip while jumping stuff be determined by whether or not that affector is active. Kinda like Moon Knight's staff combat, if you need an example. It only uses the staff melee animations if a "special affector" is set to level 5, which the boost (and I am assuming those items that also activate it) does.

nodoubt, you are awesome for all the work you put into the game and how much value you and the other modders have added to the game.  I greatly appreciate your (and everyone elses) hard work.

I had a question about your creation of the phase power.  Is it on a timer?  I remember at one time or another she could only phase as long as she could hold her breath 30-60 seconds.  Could that help any of the problems you experience?

Btw, I am anxiously awaiting the completion of your brotherhood project.  That is a great idea, and I love the idea of being able to play as Exodus.  :)

@Norrin Radd  removing the nocollide didnt fix it, she still flys off the map.  What it did do is make people be able to bump into her.  So nocollide means people can go through her, but she cant go through things and noclip means she can go through people/things.  Btw do you know if setZoneVar(x , x) is needed? ive seen it in other scripts and im not sure if that is missing and causing the issues.

@Blizz.  No its not set up as a boost, when i set it up as a boost it would not work out.  i actually had to set it up as a projectile, it just goes to the ents file and runs the script with no projectile being release.  thats the only way it would work.  i have to look at the Moon Knight thing more closely, but for now i used your tip and have jump turning phase off.  So now when she jumps phase is turned off and she doesnt float away.  thanks for the tip.

im also thinking of having a boost that goes along with it making her knockback resistant so that when attacks knock her back she doesnt get stuck that way.

@Doug_G .  thanks, always good to hear some awesome comments.  And no phasing is not on a timer, when i tried to set it up as a boost so that it would have a life she would not phase.  So instead power1 turns on phasing, power2 turns it off.  And yes i'll get back to the Brotherhood project as soon as a finish Shadowcat, then its Mimic and Forge.

ok thanks for the info, for your zonevar question, in which script are you refering to? setzonevar just sets a variable, so if you use that variable later on, you will need to set it (you get the zonevar by B = getZonevar(x) or something like that)

what skeleton should i use for her? other than phasing she can disrupt electronics/people by phasing through them, im thinking some kind of electric discharge like Spiderwoman, and ninja training, so im thinking knife attacks, maybe sword attack.  So maybe Psylcoke and Blade as skeletons, or maybe Blade and a MUA NPC.

could have her have claws or bone knifes like she did during X-Men revolution, see custome 8

Deadpool (XML2) + Elektra (MUA)
or
Psylocke (XML1) + Deadpool (MUA)

lol yeah.  At first i wanted to fix that so that she is able to walk up stairs and stuff like that but after i ran through a whole level, including open air, i decided to leave it alone as it allows her to walk on air.

and thanks idrinkdrpepper, now i have two skins.  And im thinking i can pull off her http://www.uncannyxmen.net/db/spotlight/showquestion.asp?faq=10&fldAuto=72&page=8 original custome (number 1).  Just use Jeans, recolor the belt, hair and maybe from blue to black.  Number 5 could probably be made from Vindicator's custome.

Ogun looks like those devils in the Inferno area in MUA, perhaps they could be a good base.

Are the Classic/Original skins PS2 models?

Also, AoA/Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D would be awesome skin choices, imo. AoA could maybe be based on Moira, but I'm not sure about AoS.

no classic and original are not ps2

im still looking to see what skins i can pull of, so far i have only done original in black and blue.  Im also trying to do her Excalibur one.  I'll try the AOA, but the Shield one might be hard.  I have GIMP now so i have more options now, but any help would be appreciated.

power wise, she is almost done.  I havent really decided on an xtreme, the one i had in mind might not be possible.  So she's still a work in progress.

edit: so far the skins im making are looking really crappy, so i dont know if i'll actually keep working on them

yes, the gun effects dont match up at times, but the move is so flashy you barely notice (this version is without the slow motion stuff).

Notes:
Complete, 5 skins (no AOA, might do it later), full powerset.  I also gave her double jump, just cause it looks cool.

Phasing notes:  She can phase/go through stuff, power 1 (keyboard1) turns it on and power 2 (keyboard2) turns it off.  Dont worry power2 cost no power so you can always become solid again.  Also jumping automatically turns it off since if you read my first post you know that that would cause you to float up and up until death.   Phasing also lets you walk on air, to go up/down stairs turn off phasing. Now for the bugs: sometimes it suddenly turns off, the powerup that comes with it remains but phasing is turned off (it only happens once in a while).  Also sometimes when you go to save or change outfits you are put in phasing form even if you werent, dont panic just activate jump or power two and you'll be alright.  Expect some errors since its not really a power meant for any character.

This uses a new fightstyle not in XML2.  So you must start a new game from default, old games will not accept the new fightstyle and the mod will not be able to use its second skeleton in old games.  So just start over.

Backup anything you might overwrite, im not responsible for anything that is lost. Install everything in this mod in order for everything to work correctly.  Ive set up the rar file to match the way XML2 sorts its files, so just drag and drop.

@parrastaka - im sure someone eventually will make a Shadowcat mod for MUA, i cant play it on my pc so i wouldnt be ablet to convert and test.

@Midnight Curse - im still working on the Brotherhood Edition, im just taking a little break from it, i did so many of the mods for it one after the other (at times working on two at the same time), that i feel a little drained and uninspired.  So im just taking a small break from it to work on some XML1 to XML2 stuff, then i'll get back on it.  6 more mods and its ready to go.

thanks to iammingy, we have katana boltons now, so heres an update for shadowcat.  first download the swords from here http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=435.msg28114#msg28114 and place them in Models/Bolton/

I am really glad that they look fine for Psylocke and Kitty Pryde in XML2. :) It's a bit off for some skeletons (eg. Blade) for some reason... @_@

How did you make Kitty walk on air? Is it possible to add this power to Wolverine,for example?
I have the game for PSP, that's why I'm asking this.
And can you make that the phasing power is the "Berserker Rage"and the solid the "Scream"?

I like how the phasing stops when she jumps. When I was playing around with a "phasing" script a while ago it sucked how I always had to turn it on and off when going between heights.

Long time lurker, first time poster. Norrin Radd, could you release the MUA version of Shadowcat with permission from nodoubt of course?  I ventured a try at converting her over my Christmas break and ended up with a powerless inverse-colored Shadowcat.  I read several threads to fix these problems and ended up getting her colors right, but haven't had luck fixing her fightstyle, powerset, etc.  I know this is a request and that it is in a conversation for the wrong game, but it seemed to flow with the conversation.

Looking these things up made me really appreciate the amount of time that people like you, nodoubt and many of the other hardcore modders put into these projects.  So, regardless of the people that join from time to time to flame everyone for aesthetics on free merchandise, I just wanted to let you know there are people out there that don't talk on the forum, but appreciate the effort put into these characters.  You have made a game that I would have stopped playing a year ago more fun and interesting to play.

it would be on her all the time, only leaving her back when she is using her sword attacks (kind of like Cable Mod and his laser gun).  right now im leaning to yes, but wondering if others would like it or not.

 Hey i was thinking of a new power you know the one jean attack where she creates a little bird that throws energy balls? where i was woundering maybe somehow you can use that to make it look like she summons lockhead to help her out or something.

i think it will make sense, Deadpools animations have him grabbing his swords from his back and then putting them back there.  So when she uses those moves she goes for her back, but theres nothing there (kind of like Nightcrawler when he uses a non-aoa skin), so its like the sword appear out of no where.

yep, i wanted a move with Lockheed too. What i wanted was for her to summon him as a minion and help her out for a while.  But we have no way of spawning a new character.  Is there any dragon models in xml2 or mua?  like something in the background or scenery, map model igb?  I think the closest thing to a dragon is dragon man, but he's the wrong size and just a skin. 

If i can find something that looks like a dragon, i'll set it up like jean's move, and have him shot fireballs.  im of to look and finish up her aoa skin.  thaks for the idea ramen.

jean's sentry doesnt look like a dragon and theres no bolton/effects taht look like a dragon, so no lockheed move for now.  Im keeping the back swords. So im done and will probably up it later tonight or tommorow.

ok i'll take another look, but it might not look right. ok so i guess the mod will be released tommorow. for now im planning a sentry like move, were "lockheed" shots fireballs for a while. now i gotta go see what i can do about having it look somewhat like Lockheed. hopefully it comes out good.

idk if anybody has already tired or thought about this but is there a way for u to make a move where she phases enemies into the floor for like an extreme move or sumthin? that would also be koo if it can be done.

is there a mannequin for Dragon Man around, ps2 based? i was able to use Overload Archangel Mannequin as an avatar, but archangel doesnt look right.  still looking around, but to tell you the truth if i dont like how it looks, im not adding it, this mod looks really good right now and i dont want to add a move that will bring it down.  still i can try.

Notes: Complete mod.  This will probably be the final version.  I could not get any Lockheed move to look good, so she doesnt have one.  To tell you the truth, it doesnt need it, the mod is already pretty good.  If we figure out how to get a character to spawn another character, then i'll try to add the move again.

Differences from previous version:
* added two skins (AOA and X3 movie skin by shafcrawler, for a total of 7)
* fixed up her fightstyle
* added power sounds (power sounds by Norrin Radd) to get her voice download the latest x_voice update here: http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=2924.0
* new icons (icons by Norrin Radd)
* recolored sword effects (they use to be red, and it doesnt really go with her customes, since non are red, so instead i went with blue)
* added sword back boltons by iammingy, they are on the whole time, only leaving her back when she is using her swords

Notes: New version with only one skeleton.  In order for one of her moves to look good you have to have fighstyle hero.  The main difference from the previous version is the skeleton, now she's not too similar to Psylocke and she is more unique in XML2 (this new version wouldnt be that unique in MUA since she uses most of MuA Deadpool's animations).  I like this version better from previous version, mostly because she doesnt share animations with Psylocke, but the only thing i dont like is that Deadpool MUA's skeleton doesnt have any good animations that could be turned into idle's, so she uses a slowed down version of fighstyle hero idle.  Also i changed the second xtreme boost icon, so that it looks more like the others.

Don't know if this could happen, or if you are done updating it, but is it possible to make her enemys be intangible when shadowcat touches them, so she can do stuff like, throw them threw walls? Stupid idea, I know, just thought it would be interesting.

thanks for the comments :), to get rid of the swords on her back you have to remove any entry of "models/bolton/nightcrawler_swords_back" from the herostat entry and from her powerstyle file.

If you could provide me with the skin nummbers just because i was hoping to replace one of her skins and i dont know what the numbers are so i havent yet.

*EDIT* Unless the skin numbers for Shadowcat just go in order of the skins when you swap them? e.g Astonishing: 2001, AOA: 2002 etc..

or her proper astonishing? (not the cheap knock-off on x2,  where from the front of the armpits to the thighs was yellow) I'd actually be really greafull if someone could do that costume. (all that needs to be doing is have yellow come from her shoulders, down to her "muffin", and up her back to her shoulders again.) did you decompile and compile her herostat code (found in a word document in the mod's folder you dloaded) to the x-men legends herostat.engb file with xmlbcui?

Love your mods bro, always... But I can't make this one to work. I've already paste all the folders, decompile & recompile herostat using xmlbcui. But when I load the save game and replace the character with her, the game would crash to desktop. I replaced emma with kitty and I was editing  heroreal.engb from the All X-men mods. Thx bro

Shadowcat is one of the indispensible characters in my roster. She is an excellent choice in treading remote or unpassable areas or picking up drops that have fallen there.

I compressed her phase and solid as one power.  She does very well. Thanks for this awesome mod!

Just amazing MOD! I have a dream to play XML 2 with Shadowcat and it comes true! But I'm very careful with her Phase ability cause I lost her severel time during her phasing and walking in phase mod in the game! Good work! :emmafrost:

This is definetely too cool. I hadn't been interested in the character before, but after reading the Age of Apocalypse yesterday, I decided it to use her. I absolutely LOVED your mod. The fighting animations make her truly unique.

Well, i've got a question, you know, every now and then when i try playing with her, wether it's in phase form or not, she falls through the floor. One example is that when i'm simply walking and then she falls and dies, why does that happen ?
