Title: Online Danger Room Courses for regular play (updated 11-09-08)

OK so i added the Online Danger Room courses to the regular in game danger room courses. i put them in the Legends courses.  No need to start a new game, it wont crash any save games that were using the regular unmodded dangerroom.engb file and they are automatically unlocked.  This file also unlocks the online only arenas for the main menu dangerroom.

One question: these online courses can be played in PSP or in another consoles if you are playing online?

I've never played the online courses before are they fun?  Are they as challenging as the Nightmare courses?  Can the rewards be changed back to the ones from the Nighmare Courses?  I probably wouldn't be willing to walk away from the free level ups and skill points.  Can those be placed into the Online Courses?

Also is there anyway to add these courses without erasing the others if you DO start a new game.  If it is possible to create new danger room courses we could probably make it so that Forge could sell them to you? 

I'd really like to try out some new game content but I don't need another advanced magneto helmet.

personally i think they are fun.  the maps seem to be cleaner/lighter and nicer. they are not all that hard, but inside you find some exclusive online artwork. and no its either these or the xtreme courses, there seems to be a limit.  as for your other questions, i don't know.

I actually added them to the Legend Courses with no problem. Although I haven't playtested them yet....

Just playtested all off the courses in Legend both the originals and the online without any problems.  I also tested the first freshman level and the first X-Man level.  Here is my is my Data file:

What issues did you run into?  Mine seemed to work flawlessly within the confines of the Danger Room.  Did it cause other issues with the game?  I'm not sure what the actual dangeroom limit is but it seems like we may be able to add more.

I did have to start a new game for mine.  I'm not sure if this is because I changed my herostat via heroselct v1.2 (thought I'd been using the default team, not sure?) or because of this little update.

Right now DarthCylclopsRLZ are looking into adding new Character Challenges and Unique Character items to the Danger Room.  I'm merely tinkering by making copies Essense of Corona and Fists of Weapon X for the Clone Characters Sabretooth and Pyro but the idea is to create between 5 and 6 new character challenges for with items for all of the characters who are lacking.  I'm also thinking about creating a tutorial to show people what to change based on the character's they pick for their roster.

If we can add 6 more levels I'm thinking about asking some of the character modders to make some unique items for their character mods.

FYI:

It's a maximum of grades.

The modded dangerroom.engb file merely switched the order of Legend & Online. The first one reaches the cap, so the other disappears. So you could, say, create an 'Awesome l33t LULZ' DR Grade and throw them all in it.

That being said, I have no idea what's the limit for each grade.  I doubt you'd be able to scroll down, lol.  Might try it out tonight for a goof.

Well I successfully added Challenge - Pyro to the Freshaman Grade.  I simply copied cyclops' challenge over to freshman changed the entries from Cyclops to pyro and pyro_hero, and swapped out accelerated visor for Pyro's new item which is just a copy of Sunfire's item.

The point is it all worked just fine.

So I've updated the Dangerroom.  It now includes the Online Courses in the Legend Grade.  I added Sabretooth, Pyro, Professor X, Deadpool, and Cable Challenges throughout the first 5 grades.  I also created some new items for those characters.  You need extract these to files into the Data folder.

If you aren't using these character's the courses can be changed by editing dangerroom.engb

Here is the beginning of one of the challenge entries you'll need to edit if you are using different characters.

Changing the hero in the Danger Room is not really worth it unless you change the item associated.  You'll need to edit the file items.engb

Here is the beginning of a character specific item involved.  These are the fields you'll need to edit.  You can edit the entire item entry and make an entirely new item if you are so inclined.  This is the quick and easy way to a new item for beginners.  Remember to copy and past the item at the bottom of the file.  You don't want to go giving away Cyclops' Accelerated Visor if you are planning on keeping him.

Note 1: you don't really have to change any of the items or the Danger Room Entries if you aren't using the standard set of characters (plus cable).  Your modded characters will work just fine without Danger Room Challenges and character specific unique items.

Note 2: This gives professor X a danger room challenge.  To unlock Professor X you have to beat every danger room level.  I'm not sure whether or not you'll be able to play the level if he is locked.  It creates a paradox and I'm not sure what will happen.  I cannot test this as I have all ready have all of the characters unlocked.

OK so after looking at what Jack of All Trades did, i figured out what i had done to accidentally make Legends dissapear.  What happened was that I had completely removed the online course entry and somehow that messed up the Legends entry.  So now Legends is back.

I updated the first post and released a second version (http://www.mediafire.com/?o0fjyzyy0tu) with the new fixed file, which has Legends back now and has the online courses under Legends.  Just a reminder that with that file you don't have to start a new game, since technically you are not changing the file, just moving stuff around, so basically feel free to try it out with an old save game.

Holy schnikies, I just realized something.  You said that you accidentally deleted the entire online grade and that made the Legend Grade disapear.  I have a feeling that XML2 also keeps the last grade hidden.  I bet we can add grades as long as we add them in infront of the Online Grade...

but who cares, the point is now we can play the online exclusive courses and arenas with our regular danger room stuff.

Mine didn't need a new game to work until I added the pyro level later.  I'm pretty sure our danger room thing is the exact same thing.  I do however think you deserve the credit for this.  I didn't even know that the online levels existed until I read this thread that YOU started.  This is all yours buddy.

um, could someone help. I added this mod and the danger room courses from the main menu work, but the ones that you can only play within the main game, don't. I loaded a game, started a new one. Nothing. Another thing that I can't do with these mods. God im stupid

so you added the one from the first post (http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=1470.msg27879#msg27879)? Unpacked it and placed it Program Files/Activision/X-Men Legends 2/Data/ ?
The added Online Courses should be in the Legends section, so if its not unlocked yet you cant seem them.

xmlcui is acting strange when i try to decompile this file. Instead of getting the "hit ENTER to continue" message after choosing the file to decompile, it skips it and ends up giving me a blank xml. I tested a different file and it's working fine.. I'm only having problems with this one. Can someone provide the xml?

In the ninja course, I can never complete the mission because the ''10 ninja healer'' doesn't appear.

This is a very old mod, so I'm not surprised that there's an issue with it. I think that these danger room courses might be included with the package mods for XML2 (the AXE, BHE, and MUE), but I'm not 100% sure, and they may work better there.
