One glitch for Spider-Woman is that she can clash with Ms. Marvel and Invisible Woman and their powers get locked or dissapear.

because if you just copy and paste another person power if you use both peple none of them will have the power because of the name for example scarletwtch_hexlocked

I know that. Later on I will do an update to fix that. I originally was going to do that but for some reason with the name changed in both talents and powerstyle her fear wouldn't work so I changed the name back to normal.

Only thing I'd change is Spider Woman's new skins - they're kind of cardboard cut-out looking. Update the textures or something and they'd be a lot better - especially the Ultimate skin which looks really messed up

Post by: MarvelFan12345 on October 16, 2009, 07:54PM
In my future update I hope to be able to create a gun attack for Jessica to replace the fear move.

Also Blaw made the skins not me so you should tell him as I ave no experience in skinning. And the skins are fine and awesome in my opinion so I don't know what you are talking about.

kind of?

the ultimate skin is great, the best one that was made for spider-woman here.

I'm not trying to be rude - honest :( I just thought it looked kind of washed out

At least it does in my game... there's no face, just solid black, and I thought the textures looked weird. I've got a high level card capable of power settings so I thought...

I really didn't mean any offense - I just thought the skins could use more work is all

These are how the skins should look. No one else has had a problem like this so if the skins look different it is on your end.

No offense taken. A solid black face is not what I put on the skins XD I admit the masked Jessica could use some tweaking on the face, but the others seem fine to me though.

Oh yeah and those are PS2 models. Don't have a normal and specular map.

Spider-Woman's new powers clashed with Ms. Marvel, Invisible Woman, and Emma Frost so here is an update to fix that. They now are compatible and can be played together. Also for terror I removed the psychic effects from her hand as she isn't a psychic and it didn't make sense to me.

Here is the link to only the updated files. Recommended for those who already have the booster and just need the updated files.

If you want the Look at me I'm trying to advertise so ban me now with all the original files as well as the updated files it will be in my first post as Spider-Woman's new download link. Recommended for people who want to try the booster and haven't downloaded it yet.

That's because of the texture ^^ I'll update every mesh of Jean in the future, when I have time. Why? 1) texture updates 2) sausage hands instead of ovenmitts.

I have to say that I loved her new powers
I liked the new effects of Mind Fry and Psionic Boom, her Telekinetic Wave is really fun to use, and her Mental Guardian is basically her best move, so powerfull!
Great work Marvelfan :)

EDIT: I've been playing with her and I noticed that her Mental Vortex is very effective too. And I'm still in love with her new Psionic Boom lol! :D

I don't think Marvel Super Hero Squad is moddable. Is it even on PC?

Also thanks Whiteking.

I recommend maxing Mental Guardian and put Jean on any level you may have trouble with. With it maxed she creates three guardians that fire 3 fireballs, so nine fireballs at once.

Marvelfan, is there a way to add the Phoenix effect that she uses on her fusion with Storm in MUA2 Wii?
Here's a pic, not the best quality:

And the video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wblm2bFjp7o

The effect starts at 0:23, I tried to find other videos that shows the effect but so far this is the only one. Maybe someone that has the game, can post a better pic.
She releases a big phoenix entity, I thought that this would be cool for her extreme, but I'm not sure if this is possible since I have not worked with MUA2 Files.

Not sure, but i tried it to make sure it didnt work and it didnt. so far the only model that i have read works is that iceman one. i'll try out the iceman model and make sure its not a mistake on my part and some how im messing up.

edit: Tried out the phoenix model again and it still doesnt work, tried out iceman's mua2 models and they do work. definetly weird, anyways heres the model in case Dihan or someone else wants to try it http://www.mediafire.com/?znybxyzn4rk

Wow, you finally released it. It looks awesome, I'll try installing her later tonight. What's the telekinetic wave move? I don't seem to remember using it.

Is her throw telekinesis like in the Wii version? The only thing I didn't like was that she couldn't lift massive things(shouldn't she be able to)? Is it possible to somehow add might to her so she can lift massive things with her TK?
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Jean Grey MUAII Conversion Released!
Post by: MarvelFan12345 on November 06, 2009, 02:09PM
The Tk Wave is a new move added to fill up her 8 power slots. Also tk is like the WII only one drawback is that by making it her knockback move she can't control enemies, only push them back. If you want to add might to her just go to herostat, copy the might talent from any big bruiser/tank and paste it somewhere in Jean's herostat code, probably between any of the talent entires.

MUA II = bad game, bad skin limits, bad power limits, bad story... and perfect imports for MUA I from the much better PS2 and WII versions by the genius modders of this site ^_^

makes me proud to be a coder

Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Jean Grey MUAII Conversion Released!

No she will overwrite the original XMLII Jean files. Just install her on top. You should have no problem.
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Jean Grey MUAII Conversion Released!
Post by: fox456 on November 09, 2009, 07:24PM
Do you still use the booster after installing the MUA2 conversion or is that just for the original Jean Grey?
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Jean Grey MUAII Conversion Released!
Post by: MarvelFan12345 on November 09, 2009, 07:31PM
The booster is for the original Jean Grey. If you want that then you can just install that over the conversion and the booster should work.
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Jean Grey MUAII Conversion Released!
Post by: Nahymt on November 09, 2009, 09:12PM
She's awesome, thank you again!!!

Sorry, mistook her knockback (tk) as her throw. I meant to make her tk be able to lift things only heroes with might can, not her actual throw. As far as I remember she still picks things up with her hand right? not so sure because I got used to the tk knockback as my throw and often main attack ;p

Do you think it would be possible to:
-convert her to XML2?
-use some of her PS3/360 moves?
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Jean Grey MUAII Conversion Released!
Post by: MarvelFan12345 on November 10, 2009, 01:38PM
I'll probably convert her to XMLII. Also for 360 moves it could be possible. The radial attack is useless cause Mind Fry can also freeze/stun enemies. Tk Grip is kinda like regular tk. The pyrokinetic blast has possibilites though.
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Jean Grey MUAII Conversion Released!
Post by: Nahymt on November 11, 2009, 09:03PM
Yeah, I kinda thought her Phoenix's Fury move (where she lifts burn and knocks back) and her freeze ability would be awesome (mind fry has a 50% chance and only medium area).

The freeze area should work, because I made iceman's beam into freeze area. So he does the freeze beam animation and freezes the whole room and even further when upgraded. (kinda wanted it to looks like Charmed's Piper freeze). But I did it in XML, not MUA. But I guess it should almost be the same.

Don't know about tk grip, I'd love it but I think the beam and pull thing might be hard to do in MUA because I haven't seen any move like it.

Is it possible to add tk for melee attacks? So her punches have longer range and she doesn't actually have to touch the enemies to hit them?
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Jean Grey MUAII Conversion Released!
Post by: Grig 32 on November 12, 2009, 02:08AM
I've installed and reinstalled the MUAII mod several times but no matter what I do Jean's Dark Phoenix skin never has any powers and her HUD for that skin won't show up either :( just this danged blank square. Does anyone else have problems with this or am I doing something wrong?

Also, love how her TK power has been turned into a non-energy draining ability. Like she's so powerful and natural a telekinetic that she can do it by reflex ^_^ nice touch
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Jean Grey MUAII Conversion Released!
Post by: MarvelFan12345 on November 12, 2009, 02:41PM
Phoenix Fury could be a thought. For me she has two radials and one has a chance to freeze enemies so it isn't worth adding another radial stun.
And I don't know any power that grip can be modeled after.

Also Grig check your herostat and make sure the DP skin is not 12301. And thanks for the comment
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Jean Grey MUAII Conversion Released!

Her DP skin is marked as 12306 - as is the package and hud that points to it

That's weird. It should be working and no one else has had this problem. Try downloading the Dark Phoenix skin from the alternate skin downloads. Try if that works. If it does then install this Jean conversion over it.

Post by: Nahymt on November 12, 2009, 07:00PM
I thought if you are going to make her next-gen conversion then it would be another separate character. That's why I was asking about the freeze area.

Yeah, seems like no power could be modified for tk grip. How about magneto's pull in move? Could it be modified so only one enemy gets pulled in and then knocked back.

Her tk blast can definitely be made right? It's almost like Sue's concussion blast only with fire effects.

Any idea on how to make her melee telekinetic? Increase her melee range so it looks like she attacks using tk.

Maybe tk grip could be made like that. Her tk blast will probably be in. I like the idea of that. Melee tk could perhaps be made by adding knockback to melee.

Knockback to melee? I thought it looked like she doesn't even touch the enemies because she's not actually punching. Hence trying to increase her punch range. But I think knockback for melee could work but wouldn't the enemy get knocked back after one punch? That's not so practical ^^;;;

Looks like I'll have to try the whole modding thing again, maybe I could help with something. But I've only made the freeze area (+blowup effect for objects) for Iceman and astral projection (projection has no powers) for Jean. And then I tried doing mental guardian but you know that it didn't work for me but you made it now :D

Found two glitches with her.

Mental Burst on Medium Mode causes to much damage. Put a huge dent in Bullseye's health.
Grab-Smash does not work. Suspect I did not include a fightstyle file

I just realized that I have problems with her White and Dark Phoenix Costume. They have no skills at all.

If I remember correctly in MUA2 her mental burst really is strong but has a high cost too...

Her tk wave is awesome, it's the power I keep switching in and out with mind fry.

Is it just me or why can't she lift heavy objects with her tk. I tried grabbing and object (a bed I think) and she said it's too heavy so I tried tk but nothing happened.

Haven't tried her grab throw since I spam her tk a lot :D

If I want to increase the length of her tk knockback range, which part in her talent / powerstyle file do I change?

Thanks for this conversion, I love her :D

Post by: MarvelFan12345 on November 14, 2009, 08:13AM
That's weird. By skills do you mean powers or passives? Also if you added more costumes for her and the White Phoenix and Dark Phoenix costumes are the 5th and 6th they will not have passives.

Really I didn't know that. I'll still reduce damage as at medium the projectile causes instant ko to the robots on the Hellicarrier.

I'm glad you like it. I didn't know so many people would like that power.

I think her tk won't do it. I know that when using her tk on objects the objects are just damaged.

Since you spam the tk a lot I'm sure you are happy that it doesn't cost energy.

I believe go to powerstyle. If it has a radial punch thing defined in it I believe it has some lengths. Just increase the numbers then.

And thanks for the awesome comment once more!

Post by: Nahymt on November 15, 2009, 05:52AM
Yeah I meant passives. No I didn't add any other skin, just installed your mod over the previous one.

Yeah, it's one of the things I love most in the Wii version, free tk. I don't really use the knockback move anyway so good that they changed it for her :D

Well, in the Wii version most enemies do die from just one hit. At higher levels the burst is really big like she's shooting a comet, lol. High damage but high cost too. I could only shoot like 4 shots at a boss before running out of energy (that was before vortex guardian combo)

Why not? It's awesome and does great damage. I haven't paid enough attention but does it lift big enemies too?

Now that I think again, you might just be on your way to restraining wave and Phoenix's Fury. Just add fire and lift all enemies in the area and knock them back, done :D Just need to figure out how to do her tk grip and add pyro blast and voila, we have another mod (this time from MUA2 next gen).

That's weird it should. Try redownloading the talent files. It shouldn't make you have to start a new game.

Yeah in this game too her Mental Burst grows soon and looks gigantic.

For tk wave it does not lift up big enemies like bosses. If you want to make bosses resistant to stuff like grab-smashes, tk, stun and stuff go to data/shared_talents and decompile it. There search for something like villain or boss resistances. From there you will find a list of stuff that bosses can't be affected by. Remove the stuff that you want bosses to be affected by now, So if you want to lift up enemies with tk remove the tk entry there. Then save and compile with engb.

Also yeah Phoenix Fury could be done from Tk Wave if I added fire. Never realized that. I probably won't make another mod just for her new powers but may modify tk wave to be like Phoenix Fury and add Pyro Blast.

Post by: Nahymt on November 15, 2009, 10:29AM
Just thought maybe you'd like to separate them so people could choose which one to use and compare them, but making it just 1 powerful mod is fine with me :D

Still the problem with tk grip, that's the only move missing...

Sorry I meant larger enemies, not bosses. Sometimes there are large enemies who can't be lifted using tk (it has no effect on them like they are immune to it)

For bosses, being able to just weep the floor with them would be too cheap ;p I wish we could make it so at least they stumble backwards or show any sign that I hit them and they take damage. But I guess that's impossible...

EDIT :

just tried again playing MUA and her tk wave can lift those big red giants in the underworld but why can't her knockback lift them? I'll try see what in the tk wave makes her lift them compared to her tk knockback.

and yeah her grab smash doesn't work. she just grabs and then gets pushed back with some blue effect.

Another problem I found is when choosing to save nigtcrawler or Jean (her cage is empty btw). If I save jean, nightcrawler falls and a portal opens and the game hangs. If I save nightcrawler, jean's cage falls and the game hangs too. Is this an error or why is this happening?

That could be because of the mesh. If you have a backup of skin 12301 readd that in actors. Then try it.

I simply removed her from the party and finished that part without her :D

So how do I fix the:
-melee : she just stands there but actually hits
-grab smash
-costume passives, for white and dark I can see the passives but once I equip the costumes she looses all her powers... but the other costume works fine
Title: Re: Jean Grey MUAII Conversion, Boosters for Thor, Spider-Woman, and Jean Grey

Melee, I don't know as this is based on the WII and Ps2 version which did not have that. The only thing I can think of is affector_knockback.

Go to data/fightstyles and find the interact_victim_magneto and copy and paste that and replace magneto with either phoenix, jeangrey, or jean_grey. Just do all three for safety. I don't have MUA on this computer to check the name so just do all three.

What do you mean by equip the costumes?
Title: Re: Jean Grey MUAII Conversion, Boosters for Thor, Spider-Woman, and Jean Grey

I mean when I change costumes to white or dark Phoenix she looses all powers and passives. Only her default costume and the other one work.

I'll try the replacing magneto thing.

But the previous Jean grey mod (before I replaced her) also didn't have any melee. She actually hit enemies and could destroy crates but it didn't show. It looks she just stands there.

What do you mean by bonus to upgrade. If you mean passives then that means that the DP skin is in a 5th or 6th slot. If you mean powers then download the Dp skin from the alternate skin downloads then redownload the mod. You won
t need to start a new game.

Based on this post, I assume that you don't have installed the latest version of the Official Characters Mod, because that problem is fixed with the mod.
That also would explain why you don't have the interact_victim_magneto, because his files are included in the pack.
So you need to download and istall the OC Pack and see if her grab smash works.

I already installed the official characters and now she has melee and also downloaded the alternate skins (white and dark) and everything works fine, except her grab smash.

I already copy pasted interact_magneto_victim.xmlb and renamed it into interact_phoenix_victim.xmlb -> in her powerstyle/talents file it says interact_phoenix_victim but it still won't work. Anyone else being able to solve the problem?

Update adds/fixes'

Tk Bubble Power Number so now this boost does not clash with the extreme
Adds a sound for Tk Shield
Removes any useless and unneeded files
Adds Mr. Law's New X-Men Mesh

Also an updated list of people who need to be credited has been posted.

All of this is on page 2.

This looks like a really cool mod, so I hope someone can clear this up. I just tried installing this onto an existing Official Characters 1.2 install (manually replaced a char in herostat with Jean), and I've had some trouble:

* Jean can't fly
* No HUD images
* No Powers listed (and no Power images, although one psi-bolt-type power became randomly available during play)
* Game crashed when I went to hero details mid-battle

There may be some simple and obvious thing that I should/shouldn't have done, but I can't seem to figure out what it is. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

Ok, first to all you have to start a new game with default stats each time you edit the herostat. Don't use your saved games.
If you started a new game and still has problems, be sure that the files are located on the correct folders, for example the files located on  the actors folder on the mod, must be on the actors folder of the game. Sometimes we commit mistakes when packing files.
Check that and tell me if it worked, because I tried this mod before (both the booster and the MUA2 conversion) and I never had any problem.

EDIT:
Grr... Deedoo is faster than me while posting :P
If none of my sugestions worked, go with deedoo's post and re-install everything ^^

Thanks for the quick responses. I didn't start a new game after editing herostat! Duh, had no idea. I guess I was living in the dream that you could work around the 27 char limit by just editing it and dropping in whoever you wanted as you played through, but alas. I edited herostat again and started a new game and it seems that most of the glitches were fixed (Jean can now fly, as can Doom and Rogue, She-Hulk can lift stuff...ah, what a relief).

There was a sec where Rogue's power list/HUD disappeared, and one of Jean's skins was flying all weird, but maybe that can be chalked up to the experimental nature of modding (it was a New X-Men skin on the Jean booster).

Is there any way to have the game start with a different set of chars? Do Thor, Cap, Spidey and Wolverine always have to be in there?

I'm glad your problem has been fixed thanks to Deedooo and Whiteking. The new x-men skin flying weird is defintally a new issue. I used that skin on the booster several times while flying and nothing weird happened. Maybe if you used the Dark Phoenix boost because that is very glitchy when changing skins.

If you want 4 other starting characters you should edit the file charinfo. It is in the data folder.

I've enjoyed the boosters. I only have a problem with 1, the Thor booster. In his comic mission, it's supposed to replace the villain he fights. In my game, he fights Hawkeye (??) and Hawkeye just stands there. After Thor takes him out, the game continues to spawn more trolls and things for Thor to fight, meaning the mission never ends like it's supposed to.

Also, the Mystical Charge power that was added to Thor's menu does absolutely nothing when I try to use it in the game.

Did I do something wrong on installation? Or do I not have the most current version of the mod? Can somebody help me?

But I'm starting all the way over now. I uninstalled the game entirely. Deleted all associated mod files.

So I'm gonna reinstall and try it all over again.

by the way, does anyone know how to remove the telekinesis from Jean when she flies ? I seem to have a hard time getting back on the ground.
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Revanche Released
Post by: MarvelFan12345 on August 15, 2010, 08:51PM
Hi, thanks for the compliment.
What exactly do you mean by telekinesis? Do you mean her knockback tk? Most flying characters when using the heavy attack/knockback come to the ground but Jean's heavy attack/knockback has been replaced by tk so she stays in the air and uses that ability then. There is a button to fly down on the ground which is the most recommended move to use when you want to come down on the ground.
I will be releasing one final update for her conversion that will fix her grab-smash ability and remove her tk knockback attack as it doesn't work properly.
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Revanche Released
Post by: bleron on August 16, 2010, 08:19AM
Yes, that was what I actually was talking about: her knockback attack. The button for flying is actually making it pretty slow to get back down and fight some enemies. But anyway there seems to be a bug, when you grab an enemy or an item with her telekinesis, its not veryy easy to control. For example, you lift an enemy, it just lifts him and pushes him forward.
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Revanche Released
Post by: MarvelFan12345 on August 16, 2010, 09:07AM
The tk knockback doesn't work properly in MUA so they are only pushed away. You don't have complete control. That is why I am going to remove it in an update I will release soon.

There is really nothing else to convert. Songbird, Penance, Psylocke, and Green Goblin have been done. Nowhere Man's upcoming booster for Gambit features the MUA2 upgrades and Deedooo's upcoming booster for Iron Man will feature his MUA2 upgrades. The remaining characters are pretty much the same.

Your right about that but most of these characters won't have proper animations so it becomes really hard. In some cases you would need models like Spider-Man's web mace or IW force slab.

I don't know if it was intended or not, but Jean's TK only pushes enemies, not holding them and letting you move them around. Or at least that's how it's working for me.
Still, I really like how she ended up! Great job!
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Revanche Released

Hi, thanks for the comment. I believe you mean her knockback tk. Unfortunately it only pushes enemies as you said so it isn't something on your end. The new update I released removes her tk knockback with a regular knockback as there's no point having something that doesn't work.

No powers

(http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/3907/marvel0000.th.png) (http://img831.imageshack.us/i/marvel0000.png/)

No passives for the all the costumes

No icons and hud for walking around

(http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/5248/marvel0002.th.jpg) (http://img375.imageshack.us/i/marvel0002.jpg/)

Plus no animations when on missions

I have installed other custom characters like penance, psylocke and moonstone without problems. I have even installed the mod on a clean setup of the game. Can anyone give me a hint at what I might have done wrong? Thanks in advance.

I installed the X-MEN LEGENDS 2 CHARACTERS mod which included Jean's character. Then I Installed Marvelfan's version of Jean on top of the old one. This time around everything look to be in order apart from her melee animations which apart from the grabbing and punching routine are nowhere to be seen.

Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Revanche Released
Post by: MarvelFan12345 on September 23, 2010, 04:49PM
Actually the Jean 1.2 version is not needed if you are going to use the MUA2 conversion. So you mean that her grab-smash and melee attacks are not working. Try a new game with default stats. The melee should defintally not be a problem. As for her grab-smash that was a problem before but it should be fixed. Normal grabbing should also not be a problem at all.

Icons were not included. You would have to have had the Gambit mod installed first and then this booster. His melee attacks have changed quite a bit and so his staff won't appear on all of them either.

Got the icons to work, in the Talent file there was an extra 1 behind gambits name so i fixed that also his third skin would not appear his AOA. So on a few of his moves his staff will not appear? Did you add a new skeleton or animations id really like to have his staff for his popup and charge attacks? Thanks  :gambit2:

The booster does not affect his skins so it's a problem on your end. Yes he has a new animation file to add the rapidtap power animation, so his melee is quite different. For his charge he now has a kick so it would be weird with the staff.

When you pick up an object the object won't be charged. Throwing it normally by pressing j (light attack) won't affect it. But you have to press K (the heavy attack button) will cause it to be thrown with an energy aura and expode on contact.
Exact instructions are on the character menu. When you have a character and their menu opened up, the fourth tab (after powers, costume, and gear) has xp, health, and stuff. Right at the bottom there should be something called energy charge. I believe left control or some button will give extra info and exact instructions.

Here is a quick update to the Gambit booster. It includes Deedooo's wonderful icons for Gambit as well as some changes for melee attacks. They work exactly like his MUA2 version now so his staff appears when it should. Also his knockback has the staff as well so I think ndp will enjoy this update. It also gives the MUA2 grab-smash which is way cooler than the old one. Main link updated as well.

Do you have internet security, or get a new type/brand of security?  Because sometimes mediafire fire won't work well if you have a certain type of internet security brand.  For me I have one of those securities, so when I want to download mods, I have to use another browser.  I usually use internet explorer, but when I download mods I use safari from apple because it doesn't work against my internet security.

hi

phoenix from MUA2 seems great, but she has absolutely no powers and no passives for any of her costumes, i'm using almost exclusively custom characters w/ heroselect and not sure if a confliction is possible with that. everyone else looks to be working fine.

i've been out of the grind for a long time with this game, anyone know if there's a usual cause for this type of thing happening?

yeah, i did install the official characters mod, and using some of them.

as for starting a game with default stats, i think the answer would be yes. That's the question it asks you at the beginning, with the other option being starting from previously saved data, right?

yea, i definitely did, was just making sure that was the question he's referring when he said "default stats" (at beginning when it asks start default or from a save).

just figured out apparently it must be from replacing one of the main 4 (wolvie, cap, spidey, thor) because i believe cable replaces one of them, and i found out he also has no powers and passives. But the FAQ made it sound like there shouldn't be a problem with that:

"This happens when you replace Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor or Wolverine in the Herostat. To choose who you wish to start with, decompile the Charinfo.xmlb file (found in the Data folder) with XMLBCUI, find the entries for those four aforementioned characters and, if you have replaced any of them, change the names to any character you want (as long as the character is in the Herostat and the name matches the "name" line in the Herostat) then recompile it and you are good to go!"

"Alternatively you can download a completed savefile (from here for example). This will allow you to start a new game with the ability to select your characters when you start the game. Just place it in Documents/Activision/Marvel Ultimate Alliance/Save and you're done"/

i did the alternative, but it would seem like you should really do both i guess?

looked over the herostat, but it looks like i must've pasted her over someone. as far as i can tell there's no extra people that shouldn't be there. i'll just download the normal XML2 jean and overwrite MUA2 version and see if that works. kinda sucks since i never got to play MUA2 jean because i gotta rid of the game before unlocking her, figured i was better off just sticking to the original MUA on pc w/ mods.

a little off topic, but if anyone can recommend if i should use some specific boosters for her? i looked at a couple but wasn't sure if they were for MUA2 conversion or XML2 conversion mod.

Hey MarvelFan, first of all I think your Gambit is pretty dope...have you ever thought about making a 1 to 1 MUA2 version of him? Well a close one at least, I like your staff radial better than the one on the game, the Detonation you added is dope too but I miss the other card specials from it

I think knightkilla is talking about the PS3 Gambit, which has some different attacks compared to the PS2 one.
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Gambit Booster Released
Post by: knightkilla on May 22, 2011, 03:12PM
No Gevth I was talking about the 360 version of Marvel Ult Alliance 2, im not sure if each system had him with different attacks or not since you mentioned it but I was talking about his Explosive Hand special and 52 Card Pick Up radial special. I also had an idea for the Explosive Hand special if you were to do it...regularly he would just leap and throw out his fan of 3-5 cards I guess depending on its level, but add a charge feature much like other characters like Cyclops or Silver Surfer where you hold the button down and he kinda "extra" charges them and throws them out for more damage and knockback. All the other moves you have for him are perfect as is, but if you add these 2 with my charge idea, not only would it make Gambit fans like me supremely satisfied forever, but you would be a god among MUA Gambit modders  :gambit:

Also, you should check out my sfx post, if you dont already know I ripped his card/charging sound effects from the 90s X-Men cartoon. I felt that in MUA a lot of the sound effects for blasts and powers sound kinda too similar and that this would make him stand out more sound-wise, plus the sfx just actually "sound" like someone is charging them up with energy...as with nuhverah (shout out to her :-) ) you definately have my blessing to use them if you like

Heres a video if you need a visual.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PCJsa_cQ1g ......0:20 is the Explosive Hand (they cut to the move when he's practically done "casting" it unfortunately) and 0:38 to 0:41 is 52 Card Pickup

Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Gambit Booster Released
Post by: Gevth on May 22, 2011, 05:42PM
Yup, the PS3 and 360 versions of MUA2 are the same.
Marvelfan12345's Gambit has a mix of XML2 and MUA2-PS2 powers. Because of that, it would be possible to use any power from those versions, so a 52 Pick-Up power could be implemented (as seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3jG8ciaTqE), and also a spread card throw (as seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwD-QYxXOgw). The MUA2-PS360 radial and jump-throw might not be possible.

@Marvelfan12345: You took away the spread card throw, right? I've always wondered why, although it makes total sense considering that would make it 2 similar card-throwing powers. I also don't remember if you gave him his special double jump from MUA2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3jG8ciaTqE&feature=player_detailpage#t=220s ), or his MUA2 smash and grabsmash.
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Gambit Booster Released
Post by: MarvelFan12345 on May 22, 2011, 06:01PM
Yes Gambit has his special double jump and grabsmash. I removed the spread card throw because the MUA2 version replaces it with the tap card throw and it would be kinda redundant to have both.

I'm not sure if the radial and jump throw would be possible with Gambit's animations. The radial wouldn't be that useful anyway since he already has Staff Slam while the jump throw would be like his spread card throw.

I never did add 52 pickup because it was already his xtreme so I instead used a similar power from XML2 which is a more down-sized version of 52 pickup.
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Gambit Booster Released
Post by: knightkilla on May 22, 2011, 06:03PM
The jumping Explosive Hand is fine if it can't be done, but if it can be done on the ground w/ the charge feature included that would be dope and the 52 pickup radial. I understand what you mean Gevth about too many card special similarities, but im asking for it out of visual aesthetic...I personally prefer more card moves with maybe a few staff specials. Since you can only equip 3 moves and 1 xtreme anyway then it would be kool at least to have them all there and let folks choose which ones to level up like normal..although I think Hypnotic Charm could be replaced because it just seems like a lesser ability of Gambit...how about a Kinetic Motion boost that allows him to inflict more damage with his kinetic moves and heal EP quicker or something?

Wait, MUA2 kept both the spread card throw and the tap card throw, the spread throw im talking about is the explosive hand one, not the one where the cards keep flying...explosive hand is where he throws the cards on the ground in front of him and they blow up on impact, I didn't mean to call it a radial because it isnt

Honestly, im not trying to bug you to death to do these, I was just tossing around an idea...hopefully I'll learn how to make moves myself and I might try to give it a whirl
Title: Re: Marvelfan12345's Releases: Gambit Booster Released
Post by: MarvelFan12345 on May 22, 2011, 06:17PM
When I was making the booster I was using the Ps2/WII/PSP version which is why I removed the spread card throw and replaced it with the rapidtap card move.

You could always re-add the spread card throw to fufill your satisfaction but I won't be re-adding it to the booster because I personally don't see the point (and because in these last few days of school I'm really busy). However if enough people seem to want the power re-added I might reconsider my decision.

I do like the Kinetic Motion boost though and if I ever update this booster I might add it. Rather than make it a separate power I'll probably add the melee damage and healing to one of his existing boosts.

Lol I'm not that skilled, but thanks for the kind words my friend :)
What I recommend is to read the tutorials there, and try to change the codes by yourself, most of the modders here learned about it by making some mistakes (trust me my mistakes were huge, lol, ask to  Mr. Law ;))
Then if you don't understand something and if the code didn't worked, ask, it's also easier to us if you have an specific doubt and you can learn faster.

I ran into a similar problem. When I selected Jean Grey, her character would not have any powers and there would be no face on the HUD.

The problem seems to be that I had not installed the X-Men Legends 2 character pack. Once I installed the Official Character pack, the XM2 character pack, and the MUA2 mod, it worked fine.

Unless it's like my problem with Gredin's icons. BLaw had to do something with the Alpha Channels. Could that be the problem?

alpha channels only make it so that the transparency of icons is right. basically meaning that they get into the right circle shape instead of just being a floating square.

Hello all,

1. Never think for a moment any of your excellent work goes unappreciated...in particular I love MarvelFan12345's  :gambit: boost and Nowhere Man's  :strange:...I'm having a really fun summer vacation thanks to everyone's labour! :) :) :)
(those two make a dapper duo in #4 outfits..)

2. I only have the icon-not-appearing problem with the Gambit boost when I play with my Xbox360 Gamepad (only boxed numbers appear)...they show-up perfectly well in keyboard-mode..(and they are quite nice too, Deedooo)

..Hope that helps...thanks again Marvelmods!

Hmmm do you have Rogue or Scarlet Witch with Deedooo's icons in your roster as well? I've found that these 3 characters with their new icons clash.

I have a problem with the Jean Grey mod. When i put it she didn't have any powers or hud icons at all(for any costume). So i tried reinstalling the mod(a few times) and now when i put Jean in the roster she's a locked character. Please help :(

Hmm thats strange. Have you installed the Official Characters Mod? If not then install that. Afterwards start a new game with default stats. Also when you added Jean in the herostat, which character did you replace?

I have the OC mod and this happens when i start a new game. I didn't replace anyone, I just added her in the herostat and then choosed with heroselect (all the other mods i have put the same way work fine).

Do you start a new game with default stats?
Go to your MUA folder and go to scripts/act2/heli/heli1/heli1. On the notepad file "heli1" add this...
unlockCharacter( 'phoenix' , '04')

So the unlockcharacter thing didn't work? It should because that code will unlock any character you want.

i downloaded this mod and i found jean's melee moves like light attacks inoperational. i fixed this problem by renaming "123_jean_grey_4_combat" from teancum's mua2 assets to "123_phoenix_4_combat" and replacing that one in the actors folder in this mod.

Good job finding (and fixing) that problem!

but some power animations need to be adjusted because of the new combat file. for instance, there is no power animation for jean's extreme  (power 9) in this file.

The same problem happens to me. I have the Official Characters Pack 1.2 Pack installed and she does not have any powers. I can use melee with her, but that is it. Could anyone teach me how to fix it?

Have you installed the original 'XML2 Converted Characters' Jean Grey mod?
