Title: Boreman's Skins Shack: Warpath
Post by: boreman on June 07, 2007, 06:22PM
Converted the thread for posting any skin repaintings or mod-niptucking I can come up with (I'm more a photoshopper, but I'm slowly understanding the codes).

tommyboy didn't do it because he didn't find it useful, so now that I learned to repaint, here's a Ultimate Hawkeye turned Street Gear Clint Barton (based on PSP pictures on other threads). I still don't know how to remove the glasses (even if I had 3DMax).

http://www.box.net/shared/dzollr9spg (http://www.box.net/shared/dzollr9spg)

Here's an alternate/halfway mod I made earlier, more Ultimate-like.

If anyone has an idea of how to remove the sunglasses, you're welcome. I still want to try a Ronin idea somebody had other thread.

Yeah, I'm still hoping tommy returns to meshing and makes a Ronin-Hawkeye

Looks nice. The sunglasses are part of the model, so they'd have to be removed prior to export.

No luck with Roneye yet, so far I was only using Hawkeye's models, but haven't tried others either, who knows. This is the current Roneye version that I'm about to send to the box unti a way out comes up.

As you can see, the sunglasses totally kill the glowy green eyes, the suit looks too tight for Clint, and there's a lack of robe in the skelleton, so all the padding becomes insta-skintight  :banghead:.

Umm...why dont you use the Ronin mesh I made and add a bolt-on bow the way we originally did when we used a Wolverine model from XML2?
Title: Re: Hawkeye PSP-style skins (reskin 4pack)
Post by: boreman on June 09, 2007, 01:37PM
OK, my weekend project seems to be done. Now, I introduce you to the kinda-new, all-tommyboy-reskinned, PSP-styled, Hawk-eye 4-pack, including 3 re-colors from tommy's models, inspired in the PSP snapshots posted in another thread, and the street gear skin, for completists. I hope yo like it.

The Ultimate costume just has brighter colors, the heavy job was done with these two:

http://www.box.net/shared/pa8fkrkzpv (http://www.box.net/shared/pa8fkrkzpv)

And no, couldn't figure out the bolt-on over Ronin's mesh, it's still levels beyond my capabilities.

yes,it is. it was labeled as "modern" in the psp version as far as i know.

Nice work on Hawkeye. I'll look for some HUD models to update. The current ones are sort of lacking, at least in my version of the pspmod.
Title: Re: Boreman's Reskinning Shack: Hawkeye, Wonderman, Vision
Post by: boreman on June 13, 2007, 11:02AM
Here are two skin mods made from tommyboy's Avengers Mod:

Wonderman: added Ionic Form skin, re-linked it to Colossus' powers files (since they seemed to be missing in the AvMod), and added those black ionic-bubbling thingies to his flying animation.
(no screenshots yet)
http://www.box.net/shared/sbzlvavcil (http://www.box.net/shared/sbzlvavcil)

Vision: 3 new skins, White and Gatherer repainted from the NPC one, and Iron Lad / Kid Vision from the early issues of Young Avengers.

Vision in IM suit?

Ronin with Hawkeye's bow?

Still not bad.

Vision in the Iron Man suit is Iron Lad.  Ronin with Hawkeye's bow is Roneye.

Are these real characters in the Marvel Universe?

Or are they a mix of others?
Title: Re: Boreman's Reskinning Shack: Hawkeye, Wonderman, Vision
Post by: boreman on June 16, 2007, 08:33PM
Iron Lad was in the first arc of the Young Avengers series. Eventually (don't want to spoil it), Iron Lad abandons the team and leaves a real serious high-tech armor behind, wich acts as a host for the Vision's templates and database. So, initially the Vision looks like the New Avengers Iron Man with more lights and his own colors. Then, it reconfigures the armor to look more like original Vision, and that's the Vision we all can currently enjoy in comics. My skin reflects the in-between stage, since a fourth skin was never made in the AvengersMod.

Roneye... well, it's too soon to spoil it, but you must already have figured it out if you read the mesh requests made to tommyboy.

Sentry:

Good idea for a Sentry skin! :)

In the first pic, there's a patch of flesh on the belt, but there isn't any in the second pic... @_@
My suggestions are:

- paint his cape blue
- give him a big yellow/gold "S" on the belt
- modify the face so he doesn't look too mature...
Title: Re: Boreman's Reskinning Shack: Hawkeye, Wonderman, Vision
Post by: boreman on June 22, 2007, 11:46PM
Thanks, iammingy. Actually, the "flesh" in the belt was an attempt to make the "S" logo over the belt, but it turned out to become symetric and the wrong color. So far, Quicksilver is the only asymetric skin I know besides tommyboy's, perhaps I'll have to work whit it and bolt a cape later.

Gotta find a good face.

I don't think a skin would be good, I think a separate MOD would look great.
Title: Re: Boreman's Reskinning Shack: Sentry Skin Project
Post by: boreman on June 23, 2007, 12:49AM
Of course it would. The problem I found was figuring out a powerset based on the vague nature of the powers and the anims limitation that has been mentioned in other threads. Haven't resumed the project since that problem came up, mostly because of all the extra work I'm having.

EDIT TO ADD: How about now?

EDIT: Long-hair Sentry is your next skin?
Title: Re: Boreman's Reskinning Shack: Sentry Skins Project
Post by: boreman on June 23, 2007, 11:28AM
I'm trying, but it still looks awful. I'm working on the Mighty Avengers and Original(first mini) ones, but they'll have to be short hair until:
  a) I find a way to make this skin work with good hair,
  b) find a good long-haired male base mesh, or
  c) somebody comes up with a long hair bolt-on and a way to attach it nicely over the existing skin.

Here is the Sentry 4-pack V.1, including Classic, Mighty Avenger, Original and Void (both from the first Jenkins mini):

He's got his suit colored dark blue/black around his neck. And on the powers subject, I think the way to go would be some kind of mixture with Ms. Marvel and Luke Cage (or Thing). You can mix animations from up to 2 characters, right?

Btw, here's a pic showing the neck stuff.

If this is the case, I think you should definitely use Quicksilver and use a bolton cape... Then, use Ultimate Thor as base for the long hair Sentry (using the same bolton cape).

NOt even Quicksilver is necessary. Just someone with a belt w/ a pattern in the center.

Yup, you're right. In fact, checking Mighty Avengers #1, the cape is the only blue part of the costume, I'll darken everything else later for Mighty, the other two, I like them that way.

I'm not really sure of what to do or with the powerset or how, I'm still in the trial and error stage. I'll work on that after trying the models that iammingy and BliZZ suggested (and finding Ult. Thor's offsets).

EDIT: The cape bolton wasn't so hard, and it moves and anims OK, without the white outline from Magneto's. Now comes the hard part: reskinning Thor (and hope those blue circles are just painted and not a separate part of the model).
Title: Re: Boreman's Reskinning Shack: Sentry Skins Project
Post by: boreman on June 23, 2007, 06:30PM
Left Thor behind, those glowy circles are really annoying, so I moved on to Quicksilver. So far, it looks good. The first attempts seemed too thin and short, but scaling it to 1.01 worked just fine:

So, what I need now is someone to help me with the face and hair. Here is the latest PNG in case someone wants to work on it:

EDIT: And here's the new 4-skin distribution. Added: Riker's Breakout and Golden Guardian.

Post by: boreman on June 29, 2007, 11:23PM
Well, Sentry was fun to play, especially with Captain Marvel's and Gladiator's powersets. Now I have a Winter Soldier 3-pack, featuring a more winter-style white costume (from his introduction arc), a funny version of the Bucky costume, and his new star logo, as shown in the latest Captain America issues. Hope you like them (I play them with Nick Fury's powerset).

(6.18 MB)

NOTE: WS uses a double mip for his 256 and 128 textures, one with the stripes and holsters and one regular each, so I had to re-skin it using two MUASkinner entries, one for the regular mips from 512 to 16, and one for the two duplicated ones. That's in case someone else wants to work on him.

Still trying to figure out the powerstyles and changing effects for a Rachel Summers-Grey and a Pete Wisdom mods. Here are the first skins for those interested:

http://www.box.net/shared/573dglymam (http://www.box.net/shared/573dglymam)
Marvel Girl, based on the skin converted by iammingy from a Youngblood0000 XML2 mesh. Still needs fixing some details. I'm planning on making her as different from Jean as possible. She's going to be more TK, in the lines of Sue Richards and Dr. Strange.

http://www.box.net/shared/pcbju5usi3 (http://www.box.net/shared/pcbju5usi3)
Pete Wisdom, mixing Lab Tech whatshisface with senator Kelly's attire, the way a MI13 agent should be (later the trenchcoat and sunglass ones). Mostly slash attacks, with a neat gun. Still working on the bolton hot-knives.

Pictures as soon as I wake up tomorrow morning. in the next update.

MI13 agent suit, long trenchcoat, trenchcoat and sunglasses

PD: Does anyone know a way to recolor Wolverine's claws? I'm planning on add them briefly as boltons for Wisdom's powers, ala hotknives, but Skinner doesn't do the trick. Or does anyone know of another effect or bolton to fill the hotknife spot?

I'll upload both mods as soon as I find a way to show bolt-on hotknives and recolor Rachel's effects.

Turned out okay, I think I still need to tweak it though.  Maybe some fuzz on his face or something.  Also, you might desaturate the hair just a little bit, make it more of a 'dirty blonde' color.

I can give the BMPs so you can paste them over the PS2 ones (didn't have time to learn how to myself, that's why I'm using PCs)

Hope that can help.

Mucho gracius! Classic looks awesome, and Modern looks as good as possible, considering the goofy frill thing the AoA model has.....

boreman, which chamber skins do you get bdod's on? I can ps2 them if you tell me the original model number of the skin you reskinned, and which game its from, and if you could post the bmp like you did with toad. Then you can update the chamber mod. I noticed bdod on at least one of the chamber skins.

I'll check those and post the answer in a few hours. The most affected by BDODs was the Gen-X skin (xxx02). I know so far I used the classic XML2 Gambit model, because of the trenchcoat. But let me get back home and check the models to make sure and send you the BMP.

It looks like 3 of them are 1301 Gambit from XML2PC, and the other one is 1305 Dark Human Torch from MUAPC.

Beat me to it. Yes, Classic, Gen-x and AoA are XLM2 Gambit (1301), and Weapon X is Dark Torch at 1305.

Here are all four BMPs. Classic (1st) has minimal BDODing and Generation X (2nd) has notorious dots. The other two are OK.

Classic - Generation X - AoA - Weapon X

On other news: Anyone else digs the latest XML2 Cable skin, based on Winter Soldier? I know Nathan is supposed to look bulkier, but the screen caps look great. Perhaps shortening/camouflaging the hair... :naughty:

boreman, PS2 models use RGB color channel layouts instead of BGR.
Just a note for you. :)

That's cool, I really have to find time to learn PS2 reskinning.
Should I swap the channels and upload the pictures again?

You know, after a while I really didn't mind my Cable having longer hair than usual, so I'm working on this, based on iammingy's skin:

(http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/9805/marvel0163pc7.th.png) (http://img155.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marvel0163pc7.png)
(http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/738/marvel0164kv8.th.png) (http://img292.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marvel0164kv8.png)

I'll release it when I figure out how to import the BMP/DDS back into the PS2 model (or get someone to make it for me), because the PC model is too big.

Hey Boreman, I can't seem to download any of your skins from this thread or your superskrull patch.  A box.net window appears saying "No shared files/folders found". I'm sorrry because I feel like all I do is create more work for you but would you being willing to re-upload some of your stuff.  For some reason when I downloaded your Marvel Girl Mod she only had 2 costumes so I'm dying to try out the other ones posted here as I think she is an amazingly cool mod.

The Blue mental fire, Pheonix flying effect and telekinetic bubble have become some of my favorite moves in the entire game!

1. As usual, I'm clueless about what happens to Marvel Girl.

2. If I recall correctly, I rearranged my Box.net files for better organization. I even deleted some files, because of the updates. Probably the links you went for weren't updated. What I can do is try and post right here all the links as they are now.

On the other hand, try downloading the latest versions of Super Skrull and Marvel Girl, wich are supposed to be posted in the Character Mod Catalog. I'll check my account and the links, but right now I just finished with university work and it's very late around here.

3. Glad you liked the mod, if there are still problems, I'll try and check them in the week (I know I have some other mods pending, I'll do MG until I recall wich ones).

He's big, he's an apache, he has two kick-ass vibranium knives. He is Jimmy Proudstar, a.k.a. WARPATH!!!

From left to right: Modern, Thunderbird, Classic (all of them from Ult. Sabretooth) and X-Force (Wingfoot).

Now, I'm not so sure if I'll be able to release a mod, mostly because of a mix of holidays, moving plans and a shortage of will power. Anyway, I hope these can be useful.

you should be able to get the ultimate scarlet witch skin from the scarlet witch mod for MUA in the character mod catalog

But I said that because this one had a PS2 model, does the Scarlet Witch mod have a PS2 model?

Yes I know you want ps2 models from your posts. The scarlet witch mod should contain the ps2 model because boreman and I only made the final version of this one as a ps2 model, also shortly after I posted the final version, BliZZ said:

It is pretty easy to tell if it is ps2 or not using TextureFinder, so it isn't that hard to check.
