Title: Matt710 Skins: Colossus, Emma Frost, Iceman, Storm, Wolverine & So Much More
Post by: matt710 on June 10, 2007, 10:39PM
Alrighty I decided to copy what most skinners are doing by putting all the skins on the first topic.  I will be adding all the skins I do here by character.  Note that all skins are PS2 format (works in both MUA and XML2) unless otherwise noted.

Angel :archangel: :

X-Factor (XML2 Only): http://www.mediafire.com/?ibbbyc3ebvt
New Archangel (XML2 Only): http://www.mediafire.com/?gwin1ygjgz4

Notes:  Unfortunately since the PS2 Angel Skins were lacking and only worked in bolton form, I never could convert these two over.  So, these will only work for XML2 without conversion.

Who I plan to do next:

Using 0103 as a base

Using Rougue with Coat (number escapes me) as a possible base

If I can figure out how to get rid of the phoenix sash I would like to do others of Jean and Dark Phoenix.

Afterwards I will be doing stuff with Professor X to make him a better character or X-man.

Using 0221 as a base (I had to include sash, but will look better than bloches on face)

I was thinking...  1003 or 1002.igb should be Angel's Xtreme costume.  That shouldn't have the little X on his left chest.  Might make the Havok skin look better.  I'll get the offsets for you tonight.

Does 1003 or 1002 have wings?  If so how do I get rid of them?

You should be able to use the hideskin (look at Bishop's guns in the herostat).  I'll check it out before I guarantee it though.

This one is going to have to look a little different than intended beacuse of the bands across the chest not being able to be done :sadwavey:

Uh, darkmythology already did EXACTLY that. He prolly wouldn't mind if you back-ported it to XML2, but I'd ask(or just re-do, which kinda seems a waste of time)
Title: Re: My Custom Skins
Post by: matt710 on June 11, 2007, 11:37AM
I did a search and can't find it.  I only find tommyboy's.  I shall look further to see if I can find it.

http://www.momoshare.com/file.php?file=a3437e8f860fd5107712f5d492430b51

It is on the MUA model, so you'd have to extract the texture and place it on the XML2 one. Once again, this is darkmythology's work, NOT mine.

Here's Xtreme Angel.  No wings on him, but he's got the Xtreme gloves and boots.  Maybe that can work to our advantage.  It's 1003.igb.

Yeah that might be a possibility.  But now lets get to business.

Also I was trying to do 90s cyc, cause I couldn't figure out Darkmythology's retro cyc, and 70's Marvel Girl.  Both failed.  For Marvel Girl does anybody know a good base?  I tried Illyana but her skin was very confusing and limiting.  Perferably a shorter skirt would be better.  This is what I gave up on:

I recommend using Scarlet Witch as base for Marvel Girl (Jean Grey).

Title: Re: My Custom Skins
Post by: iammingy on June 11, 2007, 09:44PM
Nope. You can paint it on her thigh to imitate a mini-skirt. :chuckle:

Look at this Rachel Grey for some ideas:

Here is a preview of it.  I can't do much more to the black lines because that is how skarlette witch's skin is.  in field those lines are not as prominent.

A preview of Space or Xtreme Havok.  Whichever you call it, it will work.

Note that it is based from 1003.  I recolored it to a black rather than navy, redid his face, darkened the hair just a tiny bit, changed all blue to silver and added the "power orb thingy".

Here is a preview of the new AOA Dark Phoenix skin.  If you all remember it was a failed skin when I tried to use xml1 emma as a base.  But I tried it again and it came out pretty good.  It covers her upper area with little ribbons.  Very Seductive...   :phoenix:

Quality dude.  I wish I could put him in XML1.  But that should definitely be in the Havok XML2 mod.

thanks, that one was a tougher one cause it has multiple offsets.  Now I want to do hud heads for these so that I can put it in a release, however, I have no clue how to do it.  I tried to look in texture finder and found hands in 2503 hud head for helmetless magneto!!!  Am I supposed to see this?  Also the picture is never clear engough and has stripes.  Do you know what I am doing wrong teancum?

New skin:  Madeline Pryor from The End Alternate Reality

"Ten to fifteen years in the future, the X-Men faced their End when Madelyne Pryor returned to Xavier's school alongside a group of Warskrulls intent on destroying the Institute."  (from uncannyxmen.net)

Here is a preview of the skin that I based it off of and the skin itself.  (I gave up one the perfect diamond and circle shapes to show more skin  :D)  Also I cannot get the snake charm from her upper arm to work, so it only wraps around once.

I am taking a break from skins to work on a professor X revamping mod.  I will be adding 3 new powers, 2 new boosts, one new passive, and one new xtreme.  He will get something like his master hammer skill from xml1, a mind controll power, and a skill like his legend blast from xml1.  Boost wise he will be able to cloak himself and add psychic resistance/def.  Passive wise he will now have mental mastery and xtreme wise he will get back psychic maelstrom from xml1.  He soon will become a much better character to use.

PS thanks nodoubt_jr for connecting me with his xml1 stuff!   :)

Professor X is on hold because I cannot get xmlbcui to sucessfully make the new xmlbs for the effects.  I converted the one lined xml1 version of the effects to the multilined version used in xml2, but it will not compile in.  It just opens the black box and closes it right away when I try.  Weird, but until I can get it working he is on hold.  Everything else is done though, I was just waiting on the effects.  I guess I will have to keep trying.

Thanks for the help.  Thats what I did thus far.  I've been trying to proofread it and compare it to emma's xtreme.  I don't know why it is doing it.  I've tried so many times and tried so many different files.

you need spaces in the first lines between the "="
it should look like this
XMLB Effect {
looptime = 0.3 ;
randlooptime = 0 ;
persistloop =0 ;

and every effect name looks like this "name= blast_flash ;" and it should be "name = blast_flash ;", that may be it.

You're missing names in some of your sections.  That's probably why it won't compile.

no the name shouldnt effect it, most of the effects ive converted dont have names, as long as its closed with a ; , it shouldnt matter

thats actually in the original xml1 file where there is no name as well.  BurningRage's emma's psychic bedlam has no names on some of them too.

It's the spaces, dude. Try using a replace function in notepad/textpad, as that should significantly reduce your work load in fixing it.

yeah, i use notepad and replace, its saves a lot of time on spacing and on removing those quote lines.

thanks but which spaces do you mean?  Between sections or the spaces in the actual lines?  I used notepad too.

ok i got it to compile, and the only problem was spaces

yep we mean spaces in actuall lines between = and the other words, for example it should be like "y = x ;" and some of the ones you have look like this "y= x ;"

This one came out a bit better.  It is a slight alteration of her modern look.  Because there is no cape like found in emma's recent costume, I had to put it by her neck, so it looks a bit different, but I've actaully seen action figures and other pictures that have the cape at the neck. so here's its preview.

Sorry for the long absense.  Verizon finally fixed the internet so it isn't so flaky.  Anyway, I got many things done while there was no internet.

I just got phoenix end song and read it.  I loved Emma's Dark Phoenix costume and figured that my Dark Phoenix mod needed it.  So I started it.  It is mostly done with the exception of the chest.  It seems that the phoenix skin doesn't take kindly to the chest area.

Title: Re: My Custom Skins
Post by: matt710 on July 03, 2007, 11:32PM
The chest is not salvageable   So I had to give her less there.  It seems that the phoenix skin has a weird way in that it stretches certain things and shrinks others...  Oh well, I will release soon it anyway and maybe revisit it later.

Thanks.  To answer your question, no not to my knowledge.  I've been doing more modern and classic skins.

That Cyclops skin doesn't look that bad at all. I think all you reall need to work on is his yellow underwear.

I did some work on Storm's Xtreme to make Jean Grey's xtreme.  What do ya guys think.  If this one goes well, I will make one for Rougue.

Notice the phoenix symbol on her back.  That and the glove makes her look a little different.

The only thing I may want to change is the eyes, maybe shrink them down.  What do you guys think?

Thanks. So you guys think that the eyes are good?  I also want to add iceman to that list.
So it is now:

Rogue
Iceman
Sunfire
Bishop

I also want to omit the gladiator Jean from my roster and add a new skin.  I just have to figure out this PS2 skin thing.
As of now she has

Ultimate (XML2)
Red Phoenix from MUA
AOA
Original
Green Phoenix
Ultimate (XML1)
Xtreme
90s Jim Lee (iammingy)
Extra Slot **Most likey red X-factor costume being that Cyclops and Angel have them**

But yeah, just so you know- I did a Jubilee Xtreme skin and released it in my thread last night, so you don't go trying to do one.

Thanks.  Next I will be doing Jean's Xfactor, which will be much easier now since Norrin Radd got my PS2skinner working.  Then Magma original and the rest of the Xtremes.  I also will be releasing an updated Jean Grey with the new skins, some new convos, the 3D hud NoDoubt sent me, and upadated Mental Mastery.  Nodoubt, I didn't get a chance to look yet, was storm xml1's 3d hud in there?  If not can you send it to me because it will go nicely if I reskin it for Jean's Xtreme.

i like to know if its possible to mod a skin to create any of the pspĀ“s? and they looks similar to the original ones?
Title: Re: My Custom Skins
Post by: matt710 on July 24, 2007, 06:37AM
It will be difficult because you cannot use psp skins on pc.  Dark Phoenix was the exception because the skin was somewhat already existing in XML2 as phoenix's Dark Phoenix skin, it just needed a little modifying.  The problem is that you would have to find a skin that would be similar and make it custom.  I aint too easy.

Alrighty, Next up I am going to definately do:

Magma (original)
Beast (X-Factor)
Xtreme Iceman
Xtreme Professor X
Xtreme Sunfire
Xtreme Bishop
X-Man (3 skins)

Posibilities:

Redo Marvel Girl
Emma Frost's Gen X costume (use Jean X-factor as a base)
Psylocke Originalish (I can't do the sash, but can do the rest, she will have to have long hair though)

For the Marvel Girl Redo, do you guys think that I will get the same results in the mask if I do an Enchantress base instead of Scarlette Witch?  Here is what it looks like with SW's base, note the black lines from the crown outline.

Thanks for the compliment.  Sure I have some advice, depending on the desired effect and program you may want to do differnt things.  If you have adobe the color replacement tool is your friend.  Also changing the Ocapacity helps too.  The other thing I can say is do a darker or lighter line than the color you used where it ends with the pencil tool.  That way it isn't too drastic, but easily seen.

It needs work! I dont think is good enough. 1. Her belt is not even the same color, the green is too dark, and will that's it

Ok Lady Killer, I generaly have no problems with pointers and criticisms but first off if you ever read any of the comics from the Jim Lee Era (or any marvel comics for that matter), you would notice that there are all different variations of coloration and costumes.  I was basing it off of images from the comics that I have that showed it a little darker than yours might have.  Secondly, I am unsure if you have skinned before, but it is nearly impossible to get it 100% to the specifications since we cannot create custom meshes in XML2 or match the colors exactly.  As for the belt, the skin stretches all weird, especially in the waist and chest area.  If I actually went a little more in with the Jacket by her chest it actually curves because of the mesh.  So if you would like to make one of your own be my guest.  I have always been more of a modder than a skinner, so it would be great to have more skinners.

Thanks for the support everyone else.  Also I will be adding the black designs on the chest (I just forgot), thanks shafcrawler.  The thigh is just he low res of the image, it actually is light yellow in game instead of white.  She will be released later so I can add them.  Also I will release this one:

For the Ms. Marvel persona I imported Rogue's eyes, lips, and skin tone.  The hair was an absolute nightmare since there were at least 4 different sections of it, which stretched all differently.  So it was difficult to meet them up.  Otherwise I think the skin came out well.

lol, i had done a similar skin like Ms marvel http://marvelmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=450.msg26734#msg26734, and i had the hair problem. actually on the one i did one part is actually darker than the other, so i think i'll be using your version.

Oh sorry, I forgot you did that a while ago.

Also to proove my point, I did a quick search for Rougue and this is one of the pics from her gallery.  Goes to show that there a slight changes between the comics by issue.

As for the type of belt that is preferred, please people tell me.  I didn't think it was going to be an issue which one I chose.  I can change it and just release it later than I wanted.

Title: Re: My Custom Skins
Post by: matt710 on July 24, 2008, 11:55PM
Probably not.  I wouldn't be able to do the ponytail with the skin, and the Ms. Marvel outfit will only work with a nonsimetrical torso, so I really can't use another skin.  It probably would just look exactly the same with just the metalic skin.  The rogue booster will have:

Original Rogue by Norrin Radd
XML1 Rogue
Modern Rogue by Shafcrawler
Xtreme Rogue by Shafcrawler
The space suit skin I did a long while back
Jim Lee Rogue
Ms Marvel Persona
The three skins originally with Rogue

That gives her 10 skins total, unless I am forgetting one.

No problem, it is just a tough skin to work with.  Sorry for the lashing out and all.  Just to show you what I mean here is the original polaris skin:

That doesn't even reflect the warping and stretching that the skin does once it is on the mesh.  Her lower waist actually stretches differently then the upper, making the belt nearly impossible to get perfect with the x.  As a side note, I guess Polaris was supposed to have a cape, which I believe that Rogue's AOA skin was supposed to have as well.

I tried it again and here is the weird thing I was talking about.  I guess since 10301 was never meant for Rogue's Idle, the legs get crooked.  So basically no matter what I do, I can only match the yellow one side to the pelvis while the other is off.  If you guys would prefer this one, I will release this one with the pack.  If you want the other one I will keep the older one.  Your choice...

I cleaned up the Dark Future skin for Dark Phoenix.  It by far looks better.  I left the spike in the glove so it didn't look so "normal", since the original from the comic did have some spikes poking out that I couldn't mimic.

New Jean costume that will be released soon with other Jean Skins.  It is when she was on Muir Island.  Note that the crooked lines on the boots only appear in menu, if I fix them for the menu they are crooked in field. I guess it is just the way she has her legs in menu_idle.  Also the yellow shoulders are in the comic book original, but the skin's seem to disapear in field, oh well.  This would go well with a team full of training uniforms.

PS.  A bunch of Dark Phoenix skins were released.

Alright, I added my Angel, Havok, and Polaris skins.  I will soon up my Mystique, Storm, Colossus, and Emma Frost skins. Enventually other random skins I had made will be converted to PS2 and be upped.  I may make a similar topic in the MUA forum just featuring my MUA skins once I up Mystique and Emma.

New Colossus skin.  His outback years had a great costume, but it was difficut to get the lines.  It will be released with the other skins I did of him soon after I darken the gold on his legs.  Also here is the fixed storm in her training uniform.

I tried to make it a little different from Jean's by keeping it gloveless, the color difference, and having shorter boots.  Unlike Jean she also has a yellow neck covering.

PS.  Mystique skins were upped yesterday.

Which Emma Frost skin is that?  The one with the cape or the one with barely anything on?  If it is the modern skin (w/cape) it will be up soon, but if you are using it for MUA it is on the official character download in that forum.

Wolverine's new skin I just did.  The lighting in Act 1's menu makes a blue hue over some parts, but as you can see they are not in the skin when you look at the field preview.  I will release it here and in the MUA forum when I complete the wolverine booster, which will also include skins from b-law, MUA, and XML1.

Updated version:

It is hard to compare a how a skin looks in MUA to how it looks in XML2 (since XML2 really warps some of these skins).  Looking at the image we see that the forehead has a crease in it, which is present in the original Mr. Fantastic skin.  This disappears after you exit from the character stats section, weird...  Also the menu idle seems to warp the shoulder area, but it is fine in field.  I will probably be including both versions (mine and iammingy's) in the booster as long as I get permission from iammingy.

Oh ok.  Thanks.  Either way it wouldn't have mattered because I don't think iammingy will say no for putting the skin in.

BTW I will be getting back to enchantress soon.  Probably after Iceman I will do some of her.  She just needs skins since her sounds and everything else is done.

Alright, since Bobby's Classic skin never made it to PS2 MUA (they replaced it with the Ultimate one..., I decided to reskin Silver Surfer.  The only thing I don't like about it is he doesn't have ears.  Although I did input them on the face's layout, it isn't noticibe enough unless they are dumbo sized.  So now I just have to figure out which belt would be best.

I've decided to do the Classic and X-Factor skins since they are both similar yet distinct enough.

I made both much lighter than the base one above.  The X-Factor one is previewed with Professor X's skeleton since Bobby's arms fold over the x with his own.
