This post has been updated as of 4/22/2020

Combat Soldier

Once again, I've decided to make some more adjustments to his character, and this time, it will be his final update!
His name has also been changed once again into something more satisfying.

Change log:

4/22/2020 - FINAL
- Now uses a new Menu_Action, Menu_Idle, and Menu_Goodbye.
- Adjust some balances and fixes to movesets
- Full Automatic has been added to the list of powers. New ability learned at Level 14.
- Breach power ability has been removed. Frag Grenade now takes its place, learned at Level 7.
- HI-TECH FORCEFIELD added as an Xtreme 2. Replaces STEALTH MODE.
- PARAMEDIC now uses a green X-symbol for the aura on revived enemies to define their guest ally status. The amount of enemies revived has now been restricted to 2 enemies revived per Xtreme usage.
- Enemy Bypass now uses a red X-symbol to define his "enemy" status.
- Support Perks ability has been brought back as a boost for the entire team. Replaces Energy Forcefield due to the ability being promoted to an Xtreme2.
- Weapon Modifications passive ability has been improved into Weapon Maintenance. Now adds bonus damage to Frag Grenade and Homing Missile, and the ability's requirement is now learned at level 21.
- GRSO Elite Skirmisher has been added back to his set costumes. Takes over Costume 08. GRSO Black Guard skin has been removed.

Costumes:

Notes:
- Costumes 01-06, his idle animation holding his gun forward. Costumes 07 - 09 he'll have the Fightstyle_Hero's idle while still able to perform the same talents.
- Costumes 07-09, performs a different menu_action to indicate the differences from his fist fighting and gun variant. They also carry a weapon as a placeholder while in the Team Menu and switch to Powergloves when in combat zones. Whereas, the Collector skin is the only one that uses his freeze gun respectively, when performing his ability.

Previews
01 - GRSO Soldier - Mp5
02 - GRSO Infiltrator - Mp5
03 - Soldier of Fortune - Mercenary Assault Rifle (Age of Apocalypse skin boost)
04 - GRSO Commander - Lightning Gun
05 - GRSO Captain - Knockback Gun
06 - Infinite - Infinite Gun
07 - GRSO Skirmisher - Powergloves
08 - GRSO Elite Skirmisher - Super Powergloves
09 - Genosha Collector - Unarmed (Freeze Gun when using talents)
Additional Costume - Nuclear Lab Tech
Additional Costume - Nuclear Guard

Additional Costumes, just simply rename the file and overwrite the Costume number you decompiled and wish to replace before compiling for both the .fb and _nc.fb files. No hexing is needed.

Selection of Voices:

His default voices in his herostat has him set as Human Collector's which works best for him. Due to resembling a generic enemy, you can pretty much set him up with any of the following voice sets below that also work well for his character:

   sounddir = col_m ; - Human Collector
   sounddir = colarm_m ; - Armored Collector (Scavengers)
   sounddir = merc_m ; - Mercenary/Master Sniper
   sounddir = Inf_m ; - Infinite
   sounddir = Shield_m ; - Shield Agent

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Powers:

Rapid Fire (Projectile) - Fires a clip of bullets at a single target and can also hit other targets who move into the radius.
- Unchanged

Laser Beam (Beam) - Fires an energy filtered beam at a single target and knocks them down in the process.
- Unchanged
- Can be learned at as soon as reaching Level 2.

Frag Grenade (Projectile) - Throws a grenade that explodes on a small area.
- Level Requirement: 7.
- Laser Beam is required to be learned.
- Breach has been removed. This ability takes its place
- Grenade no longer has a wait time till it explodes. Detonates as soon as it contacts with enemies or objects. The entity is now targetable and thrown at the closest target.

Full Automatic - Fires Bullets continuously when holding down the ability. Can also rotate while firing.
- New Ability. Level Requirement: Level 14
- Frag Grenade is required.

Shock Trap (Trap) - Sets up a small trap that sends a wave of electricity when activated by enemies.
- Changed the name from Electrifying Trap to Shock Trap
- Level Requirement: 21
- Full Automatic is required

Homing Missile (Projectile) - Fires a missile that targets and explodes on contact with an enemy. Enemies caught in the explosion also take damage.
- Damage level unchanged. Shock Trap is required to learn this ability.
- Level Requirement: Level 28
- Now has a short chain animation. Begins with a crouch down, and then fires grenade. Not really noticeable in changes but animation feels more smooth and clean.

PARAMEDIC (XTREME) - Revives nearby fallen allies (including enemies). Enemies also become temporarily allies. Effect wears off if strayed too far or if entered into new map.
- Now has a green effect when reviving allies and enemies.
- New aura updated. Uses a green X-symbol to define enemies as temporary allies.
- Increased range when reviving allies. All allies can now be revived even when they fall out of bounds.
- Included specific range restriction on reviving enemies. Number of enemies revived is now limited to 2 at a time per Xtreme usage.

HI-TECH FORCEFIELD (XTREME 2) - Provides all allies with a high-tech barrier. Reflecting all damage received back at attackers.
- New Xtreme. Replaces STEALTH MODE.

Enemy Bypass (Boost) - Unit can freely move past enemies for a period of time. Does not work on specific enemies and as well as if this unit has already been spotted. (Basically his version of a Cloaking Device.)
- New aura updated. Uses a red X-symbol to define his "enemy" status.

Support Perks (Boost) - Boosts traits for all allies.
- Returning ability from a previous update. Replaces Energy Forcefield due to it being promoted into an Xtreme 2.

Passive Skills:

Critical Strike - Increases critical hit chances on melee attacks.
- Shared Talent applied to this hero.

Resistant Uniform - Increases resistance to Elemental, Energy, and Radiation Damage.
- Unchanged
- Level Requirement: Level 14

Weapon Maintenance - Ensures weapons are in top shape. Adds bonus damage and critical chance to all power attacks.
- Renamed from Weapon Modification
- Level requirement is now learned at Level 21.
- Resistant Uniform is now required to learn this ability.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Miscellaneous:

Unlocking: Now with updated character writing!

Inside his download pack includes a Weapon X base camp map you can optionally apply to your Assetsfb. Just make sure you back up your previous one before overwriting it. The map will possibly crash your game if you don't have this hero listed in your herostat and his SoldierSimple included in the Characters folder just for warning. The map file just includes his character and conversation on unlocking him without using cheats. You'll also get to read my bad character writing for him. Lol :P

The generic soldier will appear in the story disguised as an Infinite once you enter Act 3. He can be found at the very top left corner room in the hallway on the second floor. When talking to him, you will listen to his story and there will be an option about him asking to join the team.
He can only be recruited if you're talking to him with an X-Man hero. The option will not appear if you're talking to him with a Brotherhood hero. He also disappears as an NPC once he's deployed as an active party member and reappears again when deselected.

Special Conversation:

In Act 4, when obtaining the Holodisk with him in the party, he'll have a unique conversation with the Infinite Captain. Not much is changed but with extra dialog added. You still have to battle your way through once the conversation is over.

Blob

Not much to update. Just a conversion of nodoubt_jr's Blob mod from the PC so this big boy can be used in the GameCube port. Although, it's not a direct conversion, there are some slight changes, but nonetheless, majority of him is left the same. I take no credit for the creation of the Blob Mod. Credits will be listed below.

Minor changes:
* His Pinball move is replaced with Cohollow's version from his Blob mod since I found it more balanced to use.
* Removed his footstep effect to give him the playable character feel like Juggernaut.
* Not all additional effects were able to be converted for some of his offensive talents, but he still looks fine without them nonetheless, and his Butt Slam and Belly Flop already have existing effects which is taken from NPC Blob's effects.
* Had some slight glitches when he begins his running animations in the combat maps but it's all fixed now. He still has this problem when at base camp but what matters is that there's no issue when he's in combat mode.
* Increased Playspeed a bit for some of his moves so he's not so slow.

Skin set:

Default
Dark Blob (AoA boost)

Avalanche

Converting another one of nodoubt_jr's mods, and this time it's Avalanche. I've always wanted Avalanche in X-Men Legends 2, so he was a must. All of his moves are kept the same just like the original mod. Had to remove textures on some of effects and make some adjustments due texture optimization between different ports. Otherwise, they could lag the game a bit. Other than that, he's fully enjoyable to play as. I take no credit for the creation of the Avalanche Mod. Credits will be listed below.

Minor changes:
* The Explosive Blows effects on his hands was changed to a new effect which is borrowed from one of Pyro/Sunfire's talent Boosts. Again, so it doesn't lag the game when he uses it. Same effect is also used for a slight second when he performs Vibratory Slam.
* Rock Slide's effect has been changed to different color of Iceman's Ice Slide, while having some smoke effect to give it a more interesting appearance (borrowed from his Power1 effect). I couldn't use his custom rock slide model due to having to keep his .fb's file size limit to the minimum. Other wise, higher file size will cause him to crash the game. He also has a few models with pretty large file sizes kept in his .fb, so it was a pain getting the essential models needed so they will appear properly for his moves.
* Increased Playspeed for some of his moves so he's not so slow.
* Attack_light1 No longer keeps him in place when he jabs. He now moves forward by a bit like everyone else.
* QUAKE now as Priority so no one can knock Avalanche into canceling his Xtreme.

Skin set:

01 Default
02 Dark Avalanche (AoA boost)
04 Tyrant (Enemy Skin)
05 Mutated Tyrant (Enemy Skin)

Sounds:
Since we can't modify gamecube voices at the moment, Avalanche's character is muted, but he does have sound effects that work for his talents which was taken directly from X-Men Legends 1. However, the generic Prelate Zealot enemies that appear in Apocalypse's tower have voices that fit Avalanche pretty well (minus the fact that one of his voice played is he calls the Prelate Lords for help when he falls in battle, which can't be edited out. >_>).
The .zip file includes two separate sounds you can apply to him. Avalan_m just has his talent sounds with no voice, while Pre_m has his sounds including the generic prelate enemy voice that he will be using.

Nice. I always thought Avalanche should have been a playable Brotherhood member, especially if they're going to take away super popular characters like Mystique and Sabretooth for other things (even though he's playable on PC).

Updated some minor things to my mod packs

X-Men Legends 4 Player Mod:
Change log:
9/13/2019
- Fixed an issue with Jubilee's conversation portrait being a GRSO Soldier's when you talk to her in the X-Mansion after the USS Arbiter mission. This was because I was testing with a character replacing at the time and I forgot to remove it after releasing the mod.
Thanks to Skorzyss letting me know of this.

If you want to just replace the map to fix the tiny issue, in the .zip, the file is Mansion3_1.fb found under maps/Mansion 3

X-Men Legends 2:
Change log:
9/13/2019
- Added Colossus's default skin from X-Men Legends 1 to the Updated pack. Very similar to his default one in X-Men Legends 2, but he doesn't have the sleeves. Also updated his herostat to include it in his selection of costumes.

Sneak Preview of the next playable NPC Hero I'll be working on:

Yup, it's an Acolyte Warrior! With the little animation set the Acolyte Warrior has, I'll be trying my best to base his moves off of all the Acolyte variants from the previous game, as well as their Shocktrooper counterparts in this game

« Reply #29 on: September 22, 2019, 09:18am »
More playable generics. Woo!

Acolyte Elite

The loyal follower serving under Magneto is now ready to join the adventure. As mentioned before, his moves heavily references majority of the acolyte variants and the shocktroopers from both games. Unfortunately, his name was too long in the Character Select menu since it goes off the name space by 2 letters, so I had to shortened his name just so it would look nice. There's already an Acolyte Elite existing from XML1 (the smaller variant) but I still went with Elite anyway just to fit his role as a nameless hero than leaving it Acolyte and sounding like a Major character. This brute is ready to wreck his Shocktrooper counter parts for reusing his appearance and fighting under Apocalypse's forces.
Feel the power of the Acolytes!

Change log: - 10/05/2019

* Shock Blast's p2_power now aligns with p2_impact.
* Can now shoot across boundaries since it could not before.

Notes:

* He uses the fightstyle_wrestling animation set for his _nc.fb.'s. This was so his model will appear when selected in any Change Team menu at an xtraction point so you can browse through his costume set. His actual animation set lacks an Idle so he won't appear when you visit the Team Information menu when away from base.

Costumes:

Previews
01 - Acolyte Warrior
02 - Acolyte Warrior Elite (AoA Boost)
03 - Brotherhood Marauder

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Powers:

Bruising Fist (Melee) - A heavy attack that knocks back enemies.

Shock Blast (Beam) - Generates energy through his hand and blasts enemies with a bolting beam.

Power Slam (Radial) - Smashes the ground with brute force, creating a large radial shockwave.

Paralyzing Wave (Radial) - Generates and sends an electrical wave at enemies up front, stunning them. Takes 10% of his own HP away during the process.

Tyrant Charge (Charge) - Rushes against enemies, and objects, knocking them back.

Power Stomp (Radial) - Stomps the ground, launching the surrounding enemies upwards.

DEVASTATING SLAM (XTREME) - A powerful version of Power Slam.

SHOCK CHARGE (XTREME Boost) - Resurrects nearby fallen allies. (Allies only)

Bold Stance (Boost) - The Acolyte is able to stand his ground, increasing defense and resisting knockback. It doesn't last very long.

Intimidate (Debuff) - Puts fear into enemies, decreasing their attack power and defenses.

Passive Skills:

Brute - Increases $AR. - Added as of 9-23-2019

Body Armor - Increases physical, and energy resistances.
