90s Era Music
« on: November 17, 2009, 07:11pm »
I always thought 90s era music was definitely some of the best music to come out.  Especially rap and hip-hop, since all of the newer stuff is basically watered down garbage.  Just thought I'd throw some stuff up and what not.  Anyway, some good stuff from the era:

Dr. Dre and Tupac - California Love
Big Punisher - Still Not a Player
The Notorious B.I.G. - Hypnotize
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - Thuggish Ruggish Bone
Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise
MC Hammer - U Can't Touch This

Discuss.
Some day, someone will best me.  But it won't be today, and it won't be you.

this is just my personal preference, but id rather gag myself with a spoon than willingly listen to rap.

I do however agree with you on that most music nowadays is garbage

Dr. Dre and Tupac - California Love
Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise

Love those songs!
90's rap is not my favorite, there are few songs that I really liked (you have posted 2 of them), I prefer 90's dance, mostly because I remember when I was a kid and my mom always listened that music. Ahh, it was amazing :)
Phoenix Force: No. He loves Emma Frost.  He loves me.
Jean Grey: He wants her. Not you. Not US. And now it's time... to leave this behind.

Alanis Morisette (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGjaaQAvSTA)

I agree as well. I really tend to dislike rap music. Gangster's Paradise is my exception that proves the rule.

Well, I prefer these "older" music, then the ones, which are popular nowadays. Like Hannah Montana or Lady Gaga. Both of these are just....bad....

I agree. Crunkcore is different. Family Force 5 is Crunkcore (example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tkqb0gQaK4)

But anyways, I do sometimes listen to 90's music/rap/hip hop. The 90's rappish/hip hoppish artist is DC Talk. The song by them 'Jesus Freak' is good.

disagree about Lady Gaga, she's actually trying to do something different and knows pop music is suppose to be fun. unlike so many crappy artist she can actually write, play an instrument and sing. anyways just wanted to write that, not trying to convince anybody or change their minds.

No Doubt released 3 albums during the 90s, including my favorite Tragic Kingdom. So yes i agree 90s music was great.

Rap wasn't the only music I was talking about.  A lot of the music was just pure gold.  Rock is my favorite genre.  But as a whole, I'm talking about 90s music that includes anything from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., to Backstreet Boys, Boyz II Men, N*Sync, Britney Spears, Alanis Morissette, Creed, etc.  That was just what I had time for in my first post.  Anyway:

Creed - Higher
Alanis Morissette - You Oughta Know
No Doubt - Don't Speak
Our Lady Peace - Superman's Dead
Goo Goo Dolls - Iris
Third Eye Blind - Semi-Charmed Life
Blink-182 - Adam's Song
Weezer - The Good Life

There were others that I haven't talked about yet, like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, etc.  Also a bunch of pop music, and the era of boy bands (yuck).  But still, I'll post more later.

@ nodoubt - I'm a big no doubt fan too, tragic kingdom is also my favourite album, though return of the saturn is a pretty close second.

more 90's stuff I love: Pearl Jam, Madonna's 90's stuff are her best work, Guns n'Roses did some pretty awesome stuff back than, Aerosmith released some great work too. I specially like the videos of the 90's, like Jeremy, Vogue, Cryin and so on. Noone makes such high quality and artistic videos anymore.

My favourite bands are from that decade: Soundgarden (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=So0OwM_84qE), Nirvana, Screaming Trees (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwNdLjqaMLs&feature=fvsr)

Anyways, here's a good site to listen music: http://listen.grooveshark.com/

Also, not '90s, but music related: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvujgcbaCF8 (note that these are 2 "different" songs)
