Actually according to some sources he is associated as a/the god of the sun.  I knew he was also given the title of being the god of other things, but I forgot them.  He also is noted to be the god of prophecy and other things.

Wikipedia, and God of war 3 where you can pull Helios his head off, gave me enough confirmation xD, oh well

Helios = greek TITAN of the sun

According to a wiki (god of war, but does that really matter?) Apollo is the god of light, music and whatnot
Helios is the god of the sun, besides, it also states Helios is personified as the sun, so it would only be more logical for him to be the god as well

And last but not least Thanatoss, greek god of death (thanos, anyone?) litterly means death as well, Helios, translated in english, means sun

not trying to argue here, but I got multiple sources backing me up in my ever so fond nerdiness :D

Wow, I just googled it, lets just say there are a lot of hits on it, some people tend to say apollo, some tend to say Helios
