Square Enix /Crystal Dynamics Marvel's Avengers
« on: June 06, 2019, 11:48pm »

Synopsis

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Marvel Entertainment and Square Enix are excited to unveil Marvel’s Avengers, an epic action-adventure game that combines cinematic storytelling with single-player and co-operative gameplay. Developed by Crystal Dynamics in collaboration with Eidos-Montréal, Nixxes Software, and Crystal Northwest, Marvel’s Avengers will release simultaneously for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X, Stadia, and PC on May 15, 2020.

June 06, 2019 (Original post before the reveal).

I'm really looking forward to Square Enix reveal of the Avengers game at E3. I think this might be the Avengers experience we've always wanted in a video game. Combining everything great from Ultimate Alliance, Cap's, Iron Man, Thor's movie companion games, Hulk's games, to Gazillion Marvel Heroes, Lego Avengers, Lego Marvel Superheroes, Future Fight, & Insomniacs Spider-Man. So far officially all that is known is that somehow the Avengers need to be reassembled indicating that they have been disbanded or defeated by one of their foes. The game will more likely be single-player with a co-op multiplayer mode. Square Enix will have a live reveal of the game at E3 on Monday June 10 2019 at 6 pm PT .

You can watch the reveal live here: https://t.co/CKLO0fQPN1]https://t.co/CKLO0fQPN1]https://t.co/CKLO0fQPN1
Can't wait to discuss this further with everyone!

Yes for PC.
Let's hope the game is not overly priced with Denuvo DRM, DLC and most of all optimized for modest config. I'm very cautious knowing Square-Enix practices.
Modders might want to see Tomb Raider modding capabilities, as the game will probably use the same engine as Rise of the Tomb Raider since Crystal Dynamics are making the game.

I'll buy the game for sure on PC, but 6 months after release and price drop.

I'm a bit skeptical about this game but I really want this to deliver.
Gameplay looks fine, but I don't like characters facial, costume design (Captain America coming from Call of Duty lol), voice acting, the game looks too realistic and I don't like the premise with Avengers seemingly failing at protecting the city and being emo.

MUA 3 looks better than this game atm for me.

I agree about the facial & costume designs for Cap & Thor. Cap looks a bit too old in the face & Cap & Thor's whole costume just doesn't look right. As for voices I'm not really sold on Nolan North as Tony Stark. He's a great voice actor but I'm used to him as Deadpool. They could've gotten Eric Loomis or Adrian Pasdar or Marc Worden. I also don't believe that they actually killed off Captain America making him unplayable. That would be a huge mistake. Tony Stark, Bruce/ Hulk & Black Widow look great though. Iron Man's armor is ok I guess, his face plate could've looked better, but I wouldn't harp on that too much since he'll be wearing different suits throughout the game. They're trying to distinguish this as it's own universe apart from the MCU just like Spider-Man PS4 so I'm not complaining about Tony not looking like RDJ or Cap not looking like Chris Evans. I have my criticisms but overall I'm optimistic about this. The team behind this are definitely servicing fans announcing that there's no micro transactions or loot boxes or pay to win schemes for the game. Also new heroes that will be added to the game will be at no cost, so I'm happy about that. I'm looking forward to May 15 2020. One last thing... where is Hawkeye ?🤔

My thoughts:

*First off this was clearly a mostly cinematic trailer. I don't think we saw 10 seconds of gameplay within it.
*No Hawkeye is disappointing
*I get that they probably cannot copy the likenesses of the MCU stars, but why do their costumes seem a bit off? Iron Man's helmet is horrible
*Personally speaking I don't want evolving world. I play Destiny 2 as my time-sink game. I don't need another one where I spend several hours every week.
*Alt costumes had better be a thing

Overall not really hyped. Cutscene looks fine, and I kind of like the story premise, but nothing got me excited.

I think I'm with Teancum, it just doesn't look like what I would've wanted in an Avengers game. Really I think MUA1 was the ultimate Avengers game.

I'm excited.I've been playing a lot of Warhammer Vermintide 2 lately and I think that's what we can expect from this. Where each character has their own unique skills and plays differently from the other characters. They said that they are going to update the game and add new characters, and areas over time. I'm sure Hawkeye will be the first they add to the game. I don't mind the voice actors or the costume design as long as each hero feels unique.

I really want to see the full 25 minute game play. Kind of disappointing to read that Iron Man feels the most restricted but then again it's the beginning demo, maybe throughout the game you'll be able to move freely in the sky . I can't wait to play as the Hulk, out of the Avengers the Hulk has had the best treatment when it came to video games. Thor sounds like a lot of fun to play as especially if his style is similar to Kratos in God of War. I expected Cap's combat style to be kind of like Arkham & Spider-Man PS4 since he does hand to hand combat & with the shield. Widow's will probably be similar to Cap's but with her signature style & moves.
