Raccoon City—1998

'Why hasn't he broken the door down and ended this already?' Jill thought as she kept her back pressed against the wall, keeping herself out of view from anything trying to peek out the windows. Not that it mattered. He knew she was in this parking garage, in this office...

It was a rookie mistake getting herself caught in here in this security room that smelled of cheap cigarettes and spilled coffee–a desperate mad rush to put a reinforced door between her and the nightmare horde outside–and some part of her that she couldn't keep quiet kept thinking that it might be her last. It wasn't until she'd slammed the latch closed when she'd heard the footsteps, thudding heavily like dumbbells dropped on a metal floor.

'It's just my heart pounding, he isn't making the ground shake with each step...'

She closed her eyes and checked the ammo count in her clip, turning it over in her hand. The twelve rounds she had in the clip wouldn't so much as make a dent in him, she knew that from trying to put three times that in him ever since he'd first caught her scent outside the R.P.D...

A shudder racked her body at the immediate, visceral image that came to mind. Brad staggering backward, floundering as this...this trenchcoat-wearing thing grabbed him by the head and...and...

She steeled herself, letting her breath out through her nose as she rummaged through the pouches on her belt. No, she wasn't going to collapse like this. Brad was dead, but she wasn't going to let the thing that killed him get away with it.

"S.T.A.R.S...."

"Right here you viral freak," Jill said in quiet defiance as she loaded more rounds into the clip, sliding it back into the butt of her gun and racking back the slide with a satisfying click as it discharged a spare round that she caught and pocketed. Better to have a round ready in the chamber and one ejected unspent than to risk a dry fire with tall, dark and ugly out there charging at her. Then she went and with a practiced methodicism, she went and reloaded the rest of her equipment, loading fresh shells into her shotgun and checking her stock of medicinal herbs and first aid sprays. The steps continued closer this time, pacing at a steady pace, though faster this time. Back and forth...

He's getting restless too...

She didn't move. Didn't dare go out to peak even when the footsteps stopped. She knew what she'd see if she did: the leathery face of her monstrous stalker, the white gleam of the singular white eye that hadn't been stitched shut clouded with a detached inhumanity, and the sudden blur of motion that would prelude her being brutally killed right here in this office.

She wasn't going to let herself give in. She wasn't going to let Umbrella get away with what their research had done to this city. This was her last escape, and she wasn't going to waste it by hiding in an office like she was still a frightened little girl waiting for her father to make bail.

"Hell with this," Jill murmured as she stood up, her boots thumping on the thin black-grey carpet that seemed the security office standard in the midwest as she went to the door. She had to make a run for it. She readied herself by the door, her hands rapping against the grip of her shotgun as she braced herself. The moans of the undead carried on the wind outself, carrying with it the stink of smoke and decay, something else that smelled like cooked ozone and something she couldn't place but didn't have time to really think about.

"Three...two..."

Her hand went to the latch, gripping it tightly. That weird ozone smell was stronger now, and the hairs on her arms stood up as if alive with a static charge. There was a white light outside now, shining through the windows, strobing violently...

"Is that...what is..."

She threw the door open, charged forward...and the whole world seemed to end for her right then and there, drowned in a rush of psychedelic colors rushing past her like headlights streaking through a highway at midnight that washed over her skin and swallowed the whole of her and made her squeeze her eyes closed from the brightness.

The last thing she heard before all consciousness faded from her was the rumbling, feral roar of the monster that had been denied its quarry growing quiet...louder again...then nothing.

A low groan left Jill's throat once she regained consciousness, morphing into a cough that sent stabs of pain through her chest, her legs...

The ceiling was odd, a sort of large circular window square in the middle of an ornate wooden roof overlaid with a set of intersecting, swishing lines. Reminded her almost of the Clock Tower in a dusty, antiquated architectural marvel sort of way...

"Hey Doc? Sleeping Beauty's awake. Maybe we should–"

She shot up, hand pushing out to shove whoever it was that'd been next to her off while her other went to her belt for her gun, her knife, anything she could use. Her hand met empty air and hollow holsters, though its twin found a perch on a toned torso, lean but built like a teenage girl's fantasy. It didn't give with her shove, jostled slightly but only from surprise, and it made her arm ache all the more.

She blinked. Blinked again much more slowly as it registered that she was seeing–of all the weird things she'd seen ever since she'd first set foot in the Spencer Mansion earlier this year–a young man in a red-and-blue costume with a wide-eyed mask and a series of black lines crisscrossing in the pattern of spider webbing all across the red sections of his outfit.

"The hell are you...where am I?" Jill asked sharply, scooting back more as she put some distance between herself. Her fists clenched. Just because she didn't have her gun on her didn't mean–

"Sanctum Sanctorum, hon," the strangely-dressed stranger said–he sounded young, probably around her age if anything–stepping back from the couch and flipping onto the wall as if deciding that gravity was more of a guideline than a concrete rule. "Chief shindig of all things strange, weird, and strangely weird on the planet and on this earth. Guessing from the stupor and the way you're staring at me like I just swallowed a fly whole, I'm guessing none of that rings a bell?"

Jill nodded slowly, her stomach about ready to commit gastric mutiny at the sight of the costumed man to the wall without any kind of climbing gloves or perchhold to grab onto and keep his weight steady. Was he like those Lickers that'd taken up residence in the Police Station? He didn't have any claws, and a B.O.W. wouldn't have been this chatty...

"How are you..you're not some kind of Umbrella experiment, right?"

"Uhhh...not particularly, I mean I don't have any room in the belt for them so I don't really make a habit of experimenting with them," the masked man said. "I'm guessing that's a good thing, considering where you looked to be from. You came in pretty banged up and worn more threadbare than a quarterback's gym sock..."

Then he surprised her even further by sticking out his hand, palm open in an offer to shake.

"Spider-Man, and no it's not a stage name for a low budget Sentai knockoff. You a cop? Figured I'd ask because of all the guns...and the badge...and the immediate distrust at my outfit."

Jill glanced down at the hand offered, then tentatively took it in her own. She wasn't a big fan of physical contact, but after the past few days of dodging bites and claws, a handshake with someone not trying to eat her face was a welcome break in that.

"Outfit's fine, just...not sure what to make of a guy in red spandex who can backflip on que and stick on walls," Jill admitted. "Officer Jill Valentine with the Raccoon City Police Department, S.T.A.R.S. Team Alpha. Not sure why a circus troupe is here in Raccoon City, but–"

"Hey I'm way too obnoxious to be part of a circus troupe," he exclaimed with a slight chuckle. "And you might want to sit down for this next bit, because...well...you're not exactly in Kansas anymore, Dorothy..."

A tired smile touched Jill's lips.

"I'm all for getting a break from Kansas for a bit," she said. "So why don't we start with where I am right now and how exactly I got out of Hell on Earth into a stately townhouse in the blink of an eye?"

Well I couldn't stop myself just with that mini-booster, so here's a more fleshed out booster for everyone's favorite member of S.T.A.R.S. and the undisputed top heroine of survival-horror: Jill Valentine!

This mod is intended to be used with Outsider's original Jill Valentine mod and features some coding tweaks and models from A-Max's booster and weapon pack, as well as a plethora of other changes to her gameplay. (Requires Outsider's original mod to work): The Outsider's Crypt (MUA) - Page 32

-New Powers inspired by her arsenal and abilities from the classic Resident Evil trilogy and Marvel vs Capcom 2

-Aesthetic changes with new icons and effects.

-Changed animations for various powers.

-T-Virus Debuff actually turns enemies into zombies, swapping them out with an appropriately ghoulish zombie model. Maybe it was a bit hasty to use that vial as a get-out-of-jail-free card there, Jill...

-The previous gameplay tweaks from A-Max included with my earlier Mini-Booster of Jill (Samurai Edge animations, Missile Launcher animation changes, weapon models, etc.)

-Weapon, Power, and Misc. Sounds of Jill and her weapons from Resident Evil 1, Resident Evil 5, and Marvel vs Capcom 2!
